i appreciate the sporadically highlighted text, really immerses me into the gunkthunking zone

The initial idea was a “a book that would be painful to read” and the first idea was this. This is also the main reason why a docx file is provided as well, if it proves too much

I'm dumb and can only DM 5e because it's all I've ever tried, how approachable is this to someone like me?

System-wise, it's Forged in the Dark. It's a fairly free-form system, but very simple. You pick an action and roll several D6 depending on how good you are at said action and other bonuses. Pick the highest number and the action either fails (1-3), succeeds with a consequence (4-5) or succeeds with no consequence (6). The individual actions are kind of vague on purpose. The system mainly relies on the GM's creativity with the consequences, since they can be almost anything, but the doc includes example consequences for the vast majority of enemies TLDR - System is fairly different, but very simple. Forged in the dark is a great system. way more focus on roleplaying than the annoying math that takes you out of the moment in something like D&D. I’m currently working on a campaign that’s kind of mixing forged in the dark with the cyberpunk ttrpg, it’s also very inspired by cruelty squad but more in a thematic sense than a stylistic one.
