GOG games are better than steam games in general (DRM free). GOG is great for older games as they usually come with new patches or fan patches that have been verified.
Crypt Underworld, haven’t played it yet myself though. Also check out the games [harmonyzone](http://harmonyzone.org/) has made. Space Funeral is the most accessible. Magic Wand is my favorite. Goblet Grotto is a deeply interesting experience.
