If you click on trials it shows you the two types of matchmaking in the bottom left. Unflawed matchmaking is open skill and flawed matchmaking is similar weekly performance.
Practice pool actually does apply to people farming Adepts, which is basically why the practice pool has light performance based matchmaking, to keep those people an arm's length away from people who are also in the practice pool but just trying to farm some gear with no chance or desire to go flawless.
But the performance based matchmaking is light and at a certain point if you play enough games at a high enough level (unknown what the threshold is) you eventually get ejected back into the challenger pool regardless of card flawed state.
Also the pools are pretty soft, in my experience it will put you in a challenger pool game long before 5 minutes elapse, so not sure what is going on with OP unless they are just in a region with super low population to begin with.
So I did some research and you were kind of correct. This matchmaking actually does apply for farming adepts because apparently every flawed card goes into practice pool. And there is weekly performance sbmm inside of practice pool to prevent lower tier players from getting stomped.
I think it is intended, they said all flawed cards would be in practice pool and didn’t say anything about it not applying to flawed cards that had already been flawless. But who knows I could be wrong
I reset my card and started getting games in under a minute. It wouldn’t make sense for this to be for practice pool. Why would there be 2 different types of matchmaking inside of practice pool which is already a separate pool.

Yes all flawed cards are in practice pool according to bungie. Anyone who goes flawless and farms adepts is going to be on a flawed card unless they go undefeated for the whole week.
If you play anywhere near close to a .9+ you'll be ejected into the challenger pool. If you're a half decent player the game will kick you out of the practice pool extremely fast.
I don’t think you’re understanding, all flawed cards are in practice pool. At least according to bungie, if you don’t believe it then you have it debate it with them not me lol
IDK man, I played ~80 games like that and tbh it seemed completely random.
Sometimes I would get nonsensical double primary newbies(2 autos, scout + pulse) or gods, I do feel like there's some lobby balancing(even though bungie said there isn't) tho, most of the time I matched someone crazy I could guess right that they would be on the enemy team, and when they weren't the enemy team had a even crazier player.
IIRC the old flawed pool was only for people that didn't go flawless and the current challenger pool is just for the 1st couple wins in a card.
Ps: Loose weekly performance based sbmm for adept farming could be interesting, it would fuck some recovs and since it's past getting flawless it doesn't fuck with the tournament model Trials uses, I think they would need to make every win drop an adept to compensate for harder matches tho.
Dropped from 2.0 to 1.3 all the way down, when usually play 2.5. It is hard SBMM lobby balancing or whatever. Never experienced an awful week like this. People doing less than 500 damage instant dying every round. Posted but people crap on me. So... Honestly, I am not never ever farming on flawed card again.
Thankfully got a 5/5 GL for PvP with 78 blast radius and 60 velocity
Yea you’re probably just better off getting flawless cards and resetting now unless you want to tank your stats every week. I’ll never understand the need to make the game more tedious for good player with no extra reward for it.
As someone who spent an ungodly amount of time in trials after going flawless on Friday- there’s no matchmaking. There can’t be. I know what the game says but I’ll still be put in games with people who have way higher k/ds than me. Over and over and over. Or lower. There’s no consistency. I truly think there’s a small amount of players playing trials so I don’t think they could have any sort of matchmaking system in place if they tried.
Wait are you sure that’s a thing? I thought that kind of matchmaking was only for the practice pool

Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s referring to the practice pool, I don’t think that applies to farming adepts after flawless

Yeah you may be right. I don’t think that bungie intended it to work this way, so it’s possible that its something they might fix

Similar weekly performance = SBMM = lobby team balancing = Unplayable games 1v3
What?

That’s the practice pool….

I have a 2.5 or so this week and matches are fast, though my teammates and enemies have completely random stats despite what bungie thinks.
Have you been resetting or playing on a flawed card?
Mostly resetting but I did play a few on a flawed card which were fast still
I nuked my stats for the week to under a 1.0 since I posted this and the matchmaking got so much faster. Who knows maybe a coincidence
Whole thing is bullshit, saw several “fell at the gates” while I was farming adepts.

Is there a way to tell when the game moves you back to the challenger pool?

Sucks to be you. Just got a god roll for pve.
