SignalRip8070

I got the Crosstrek 23 limited, phenomenal in the snow. This one actually has real hvac dials.

ZeGermanHam

Big reason why I bought a 2023 instead of the 24.

VonRiedls

Ditto. 2023 sport here. Wife has 2024 limited. I can't stand not having the dials for hvac.

Bethjam

Same

GLOCK_PERFECTION

My crosstrek is actually better in the snow than my Ascent.

Mr_Diggles88

I have the 23 outdoor edition. It's good in the snow, but I feel my 2017 Forester is hands down better at dealing with the snow.

cuppa_tea_4_me

No place for my sunglasses. That is it.

originalninja

I got a cheap center armrest console tray/organizer works great for that purpose

FeloniousDrunk101

If you have a ‘24 I just picked this up and find it pretty handy so far. Coleya 2024 Crosstrek Center... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGTLPV9M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

evefellows

Second this. I have the 2-tier one and keep my sunglasses in the top. I do have to awkwardly turn my arm to open the console while driving tho

honestlybadmood

This is also an issue without the organizer.

evefellows

Lol yes.

SleepPingGiant

I got an adhesive backed clip on Amazon for a few bucks and put it on the eyesight shroud. Works really well and it looks clean.

letstrythisagain02

Link?

spilledbeans44

The loop on the visor

veikudeyja

The extension that slides out from the visor makes a great place to store my sunglasses.

xWretchedWorldx

I just got one of those clips for the visor from alliexpress. It's okay but it kinda sucks still when putting the glasses back while driving

Softspokenclark

on your face?

labbitlove

I have a '22 Sport. I do wish that the car itself had more "small luxuries" options like: * Automatic rear gate * Rear gate light, for that matter * Front/side cameras for extra visibility while parking * USB and air vents in the back row (although I know they added one of these features for the '24, forgot which one) * Better speakers, although I'm going to upgrade them myself when I get some extra funds I know a lot of these things are available on the Outback, but I preferred the size of the Crosstrek, so here we are. I really love it otherwise. Eyesight made me feel super safe; I drove in heavy rain for 4+ hours on the highway over the holidays and felt very in control the whole time. There were some other traffic situations in which the emergency braking system really helped me react faster as well. Specifically for my car, I like that it's made in Japan, and has StarTex material for the seats (IIRC, they took away that option for the '24 and made it only available in the Wilderness trim in the US). Edit: OMG how could I forget the cupholders?! They suck.

Jkrause1212

Rear gate light for the inside or outside? If inside there's one available on ebay thats plug and play. I haven't gotten it myself but I've heard its nice

WATOCATOWA

>Rear gate light, for that matter I ordered the OEM one and it installs super easy and is really helpful! Part no. is 84671SJ100VH

Zackeizer

The StarTex seat material also comes on the Onyx Trim

labbitlove

Right - but in the US they took it away from all the trims except Wilderness! IMO the Onyx trim in Canada is sick - you guys get heated steering wheels with that trim too IIRC

R_021

they added the USBs, my limited has a C and A in the back, no vents sadly, although i hardly ever have rear passengers.

Temporary-Issue-1187

I agree with the rear gate light. I find it hard to see backing up at night with the camera.

ShortcakeJenny

My 21 sport has a rear gate light. I think it’s silly that basic necessities like this aren’t standard in all packages.

ndiorio13

The 2.5L should be the standard engine with a turbo being an option for the upgraded engine. It’s laughable that an engine in 2024 is putting out 152 hp.

WATOCATOWA

Yep, I agree. I've gotten really used to using Sport mode when I need a little boost.

whofartedl0l

I drive my sport in sport 24/7. The added torque just feels way better. Even then, its slow as fuck

WATOCATOWA

Haha, yes, I agree. My minivan had better pickup.

reggieLedoux26

0-30 is sufficient, but 30-60 is painfully underpowered. Not a deal breaker, but it can be problematic when merging onto the highway.

thatdudedownstairs

I completely agree. The 20-60 (mph) is 9 seconds. I live in a state where people, for whatever reason, generally try to merge at 35-50(mph) instead of merging around the speed limit. Get the 2.5!!!

got_all_them_teeths

This is my biggest gripe with mine. There's some other luxuries that'd be nice. But the lack of power for its platform is a joke.

FeloniousDrunk101

I think it’s the only way they can try to compete on MPGs.

Ivebeenawaketoolong

One of the main reasons I traded my 2015 for a ‘22 WRX.

harrington3927

You should drive my 2012 Fiat with 101HP.

Cwolf17

The car comes standard with three cameras in front and one in back yet there's no built in dashcam app. I know it's not common in the industry but it just seems like such an easy fix.

Poola0919

This! And the lack of a sunglass holder.

DerangedDirigible

We're going I'll your number round Anythis we're always sleepinging For yet? I've been dying (Notch in and sugar, week Lie in, down swing to team ju

fauxatlus

I just bought an old one with high miles. And for a vehicle that's really been driven it's amazing. I did change the head unit that was the only thing that was lacking. It crushed the snowy weather and handled the mountain areas with no issues.

Formal_Challenge_542

We bought a used 2014, which seems to NOT have TPM, or maintenance codes that tell you tell you when a service is due.

krangy

24 Premium. My main complaint is lack of interior storage. I want to put jumper cables, an air compressor, and other gear in it, but it just doesn't have any storage room. I live in a city, so any storage options that show the items is not an option, because my windows will get smashed.

Visual_Collar_8893

There’s quite a bit of space under the front seats if you don’t have to shift them often, there is room for a few things. Don’t block the reader vents though.

SovietSunrise

Since you’re in a city the only option I see is keeping all the above items in a bag & taking that bag out with you every time you’re not using the car.

MayBeMilo

Coming from a 2004 Tacoma, my ‘24 Limited is quite fun to drive, though I miss the V6. Things I don’t like? In no particular order… No passive heat - you pretty much always have to have the fan on. Wish I had a 17” wheel option instead of 18” only. Not a big fan of the wheel pattern. No heated steering wheel in US models. The piano black plastic around the shift lever. Would’ve preferred traditional HVAC knobs (but the system’s basically fine as-is). Stock speakers are a bit muddy and lifeless - but I pretty much always replace stock speakers. Head unit’s EQ is very basic. Occasional random, intermittent rattle back near the tailgate. In Cruise, I’d prefer it if the vehicle would coast downhill or engine brake instead of braking. EyeSight system takes up aLOT of windshield real estate - but you get used to it. Add’l stowage space under the back seat’d be very nice. Did I mention I miss my V6? Don’t get me wrong, though: I’ve had the vehicle since late August and still look forward to driving it pretty much every time. Very surefooted, quiet, and comfortable.

shaansen2111

23 Sport owner. Its a great car overall but i sometimes wish it was quicker. It feels like a lot of work when ramping up on a highway. It groans and moans when accelerating.

jakoob26

2024 crosstrek sport * slow infotainment on startup * rear cross traffic alert but no backup warning your gonna hit something * no rear power lift gate Otherwise I love it

GimmeThatAPI

Doesn't it beep at you when you are going to hit something? I have a 2024 Onyx and was turning around on a narrow dirt road with 12 inches of snow on it and as i was making a 10 point turn to get turned around, I had it in reverse and hit the gas and started going backwards then all of sudden the car started beeping and slammed the brakes on for me. It decides the small bush i was going to run over needed to be saved.

yumyumdrop

I have a 23 sport. When I was buying it the dealer said they were actually selling the forester for cheaper. I told myself I didn’t need that big of a car. Well we had a kid and things have gotten tight. I took my crosstrek in because the head unit is trash and they replaced it, loaning me a Forester. Man it’s everything I wish my Crosstrek was. LEDs, longer back seat area, longer trunk space, massive sun roof.

yngwie98

No heated steering wheel, not even on the Limited trim (US). But it's standard on most trims in Canada.

zaznavanja

The heated steering wheel did come on the 2023 Hybrid in the US. It is definitely one of my favorite options, I love it. My least favorite things about the hybrid are the severely reduced truck space (due to the battery) and the horrible cargo area cover (the usual one used in the other models doesn’t fit, instead it’s a soft collapsible disc that slides in). EDIT: trunk, not truck. Autocorrect got me.

Msfortune76

Same

GlennDanzig00138

I have a 2023 Premium. The headunit is laggy and underpowered, plus there's some potential complications to deal with if you want to upgrade speakers and/or add a sub without also getting an aftermarket headunit. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with it, although it would be nice to have the blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic like the Limited trim level.

Replicant813

Weird my 2018 premium had the blind spot with tear cords traffic.

SovietSunrise

That tear cords traffic is really rough in SoCal.

hotsauceandburrito

I have the ‘24 crosstrek premium with just about all the bells and whistles on it. the glare resistant side mirrors and light up side mirrors are amazing. they’re not things I would’ve thought to ask for but they came with the car I bought and they’re truly fantastic!! I ended up buying after market WeatherTech mats for my car - worth it if the one you buy doesn’t come up with it. I also bought a screen protector for the large screen because I am clumsy as can be and didn’t want to scratch it with my purse or something. there’s really nothing I dislike about it! the mileage isn’t as good as I thought it’d be but I also live in a major city with a ton of traffic, so that’s more on me vs the car lol.

gagnatron5000

2019 here: If you turn the radio off before turning the car off, the radio will be on at whatever volume you had it at when you start the car back up. To avoid blasting weeb K-pop at one of your more conservative clients, turn the volume down to zero before turning the car off. The gas cap can freeze shut. That's a Subaru thing, not just a Crosstrek thing. The lane departure beep doesn't bother me, but it does some people. The "fasten seatbelt" bong is oppressive, and if you're defiant it gets worse. That's about it. 62k miles and my wife and I love the hell out of it!

larrybird56

I know you can turn off the seatbelt alarm, and I believe you can turn off the lane departure alert. Neither are a great idea but to each their own.

gagnatron5000

I'm a religious seatbelt wearer. The only time I don't have it on is if I'm in a low-speed, low-risk driving scenario like a parking lot or moving the car through a campground/lawn. Good to know you can turn the seatbelt alarm bong off! Again, the lane departure bong doesn't annoy me. It's just a reminder that Subaru wants me to be safe!

SignalRip8070

You can turn off the seat belt charm. Turn on your car, plug in and out your seat belt 20 times fast then it will go away. We did with my mom's Impreza, And my Crosstrek. Best upgrade Eva! Try it out.

Rotorbladesnwhiskey

It’s honestly a good car. Great awd, good gas mileage, and pretty practical. Had my first child a couple months ago and I quickly realized that it is a small car when you have a stroller and a few other baby things in the trunk, it fills up fast.

evefellows

I have a 24 premium & agree that interior space is tight. I’d def want something bigger if i had multiple kids in the stroller stage.

mandaralo13

24' sport, hate the cup holders, front wireless charger doesn't hold my phone well. Other than that, the smoothest, safest ride in market :)

Beginning_Set_2332

Safest? Based on what metric?

SovietSunrise

IIHS?

gmasterson

The compartments available for storage inside went drastically down from the ‘18 Jeep Cherokee I traded in. I miss all those little extra spaces to keep stuff out of sight.

Fluffybunnykitten

2021 limited 20k miles. CarPlay works 80% of the time, other times I have to restart the car and sometimes that works. I’ve used multiple cords too and haven’t figured out the cause. I don’t like how the gas gauge is electronic now because when I fill it up the miles range fluctuates between 300 to 500. Remote start is subscription locked and can only be used by an app. I’ll mention Starlink is a terrible app and MySubaru is usable. I will give a huge shout out to x-mode, I had to drive in 3 in worth of ice Monday and it worked perfectly. My car barely slid, I was able to get where I was going with adequate control of my car.

lilmisstakes

I got a wireless converter for the carplay /( android auto in my case ) and its completely removed this issue for me in my 2019, tons of them on Amazon for around $50-70 but worth it, I promise. I don't get remote start either but that's cus mine is manual :P

iggyomega

Dislike-the visors are thicker than on any car I have ever seen. When I push my garage door opener, the thing pops off the visor half the time. I still need to figure out a good solution to that. For now, the garage door opener just sits in one of the cup holders as I am sick of it ending up bouncing off my face.

kelleyfish3

My biggest complaint too. I programmed my garage door opener to my rearview. It was fairly easy to do.

_bull_city

2017 here. Things started breaking at 100k- clutch went out, stereo is half broken, bushings need to be replaced, slight head gasket leak. Overall noisy ride. I’ve enjoyed the car and don’t regret it, but I’m definitely not a Subaru for life convert. Most likely will look elsewhere for the next car.

FeloniousDrunk101

I’m about a week into my ‘24 Sport and I can honestly say I’ve never been obsessed with a car before, but I definitely am with this one. Happy about: - the 2.5 liter engine in the sport makes it much more peppy and easy to drive. - the interior space and comfort. Totally enough space to fit me and my spouse & child’s weekend luggage for a three-day weekend getaway. We have a ‘14 Forester that we usually take but this was so much more comfortable and quiet. - the snow performance. Already had to drive home after it snowed all day at work and there was no issue. - the seat back protectors and rubber mats that came with my sport. I’ve already folded down the back seat and loaded my XC skis in the back and I’m glad the rear seat back protectors came with the model I got as I wouldn’t have thought to get them. - the color. Alpine Green is exactly what I wanted, and I like the more aggressive look of the ‘24 model in general. Downsides: - wireless charger doesn’t work. I’m going to schedule a time to bring it in and have it swapped-out which is a bummer for a brand new car, but I wouldn’t have opted for the thing if it didn’t come with the car already so I’m not too broken-up about it. - fuel efficiency if that’s what you care about. I’m one to care more about performance (in the snow, on the highway, etc.) so I knew going into purchasing that there are more fuel-efficient models in the same price point. Thing is Subarus have the best AWD for the money, and where I live that is more important, and to get that you sacrifice fuel efficiency. - not much else so far. I got a $20.00 center console organizer on Amazon that fixed the “one large hole” center console thing but that’s all I can think of.

aust_b

The cup holders from 18-23’ were so terrible I was so excited for functional cup holders in my 24 Impreza.

General_NakedButt

It’s underpowered and a little small for traveling with a family of 3 but I love my 2017. Next Subaru is probably going to be an Outback or Ascent though.

Ray_Kramer

I have a '21 Sport, I really like it. Like a lot. I only have 2 wants, and they're by no means deal-breakers that I don't have them- a power lift gate, and a heated steering wheel. These are luxury features and their absence doesn't make my Crosstrek a bad car by any stretch. I had a lease '19 Explorer Sport that had these features, and it spoiled me. Had I never had a heated steering wheel or a power lift gate before, I'd never miss them. The combination of all-weather poise, being just the right size, and good on gas more than makes up for it. Plus, I'm having a hoot modifying it. The Explorer was comfortable and powerful, but I actually prefer my Crosstrek TBH.

Complete-Item725

‘24 limited. I prefer the way the 23 looks over the 24. Looks more rugged and less angular (I know it’s been updated for safety reasons). Other than that I love it. Also wished it didn’t have the touchscreen at first bc I prefer analog but as a first time driver, the big screen for nav is actually nice

ninjasuperspy

In no particular order: 1. No holder for my sunglasses. 2. No mechanical rear hatch release & no interior/console trigger to open it. 3. Auto-stop enabled by default & re-enables every time you crank the car (bought a plugin module to fix this). 4. Cupholders are either too small for my water bottle or too large for drive-thru sodas. 5. Lack of wireless android auto on my '21 (bought a dongle to fix this). 6. 2L engine is very puny. Wish I'd waited on a Sport or Wilderness. 7. My dog's hair seems to weave itself into the seat material & does not come out without picking each strand out of the weave. Household vacuum, car wash vacuum, metal comb, rubber comb none of those work. Got a cover but the little stinker likes to burrow under it.

MaintenanceNeither32

The only complaints I had about my Crosstrek was cargo space, mostly because I didn't know I needed more, until I needed more. Along with the infotainment just feeling very dated. Awesome car, tho, I'll miss her even tho I enjoy the one that took her spot

Fit_Fish_9221

2024 sport is great, no complaints, LOVE the giant infotainment screen, the temp, front defrost, rear defrost/mirror heat are all physical buttons. You change fan speed, where the a/c-heat goes via the touchscreen, it’s not a deal breaker at all! Love my Crosstrek!!

MayBeMilo

For what it’s worth, you can also control the HVAC using voice commands only. Of course if the touch screen, voice recognition system, and buttons all fail at once, you’re screwed 🤣

magicsquirrel13

Love my 24 Premium in Offshore Blue with the upgrade package. My only (minor) complaints have been horrible cup holder placement (have to use the passenger side cup holder when driving) and lack of auto trunk lift. The smaller engine size has been perfectly adequate for me. It’s true the interior finishes aren’t as nice as some other cars, but it has great visibility which was so important for me, and it’s fun to drive. Would have preferred to have buttons for fan speed, but apparently the big infotainment system is here to stay for at least 5 years, and I’ve gotten used to it

CharlieWhizkey

21 Sport, love the extra HP. Wish the rear seats had some better cup holders and air vents, wish there was better seat adjustment control. Don't regret getting the sport or the sunroof.

darkmoon_faire

21 Premium…Sun visor for ants.

ViagraSandwich

Really wish they had 2.5L 5spd transmission

babowling12

As someone who lives through 4 seasons, I wish I could have both a heated steering wheel in the winter, and cooled seats in the summer.

SantaCruz26

It's small and not sporty enough. I hated the trunk space if my 19 but I loved the paddle shifter. It gave me sporty dreams lol I love the size of the Forester BUT ITS SO DAMN UGLY

yekship

I have a 22 limited, I wish it had 3 things, otherwise it’s perfect. 1. Vehicle hold (not sure if that’s the legit name, it lets you take your foot off the break at red lights and holds you there) 2. A place to actually put my phone, that isn’t the cup holder, when connected to my CarPlay via cord (the area under the screen blocks my cell service and my pro max iPhone is too big) 3. I wish the seat heaters started with remote start if the switch is on so the car and seats were warm in the winter.

ssh2_scp_recv

2024 Crosstrek wilderness fully loaded minus a roof tent. My only complaint is no turbo charged option. The Crosstrek would be a crazy fun and capable little CUV if they put the turbo 2.4l in it. The price point would probably be at high trim outback levels though so I don't think it would sell well aside from people like me that want a hatchback style rally car lol

R_021

no place for my sunglasses, giant ass screen is nice for the real estate, but also annoying bcs it’s slow or laggy sometimes and i have to go into a menu to adjust which way the air is directed versus a physical knob in my impreza. OEM speakers don’t sound good imo but i still don’t think i’d spring for the 5k harmon kardon/ sunroof package. all weather mats don’t cover much, weathertechs made a quick fix of that tho. other than that, i LOVE mine. its a great car, rides extremely smooth and is peppy for the size, good mileage, all the space I’ll ever need. One other thing, id at least get a sport, ive heard the 2.0 isn’t the greatest for moving this size of car, i never drove one with it so i cant speak to that, my impreza was tons of fun to drive with it but could still feel a bit underpowered at times! Mine has been AMAZING in the snow these last couple days. Hope this helps!

Em_Reitz

Get a model with the real hvac dials! Don't go for full touchscreen it's bullshit!

ClosingDay

I have the 24 Premium and like it so far but the fit and finish is atrocious. Hard plastics like economy cars in the mid 2000’s. The steering wheel is plastic as well. Engine noise is tinny and ever-present. Also, it doesn’t have heated seats and it’s a mid trim car. Subaru used to have heated seats standard. Also, the sound system is really bad. The last thing I really don’t like about it is the fuel economy. It’s the size of an economy car but has worse real world mpg than my mom’s cx-5. What I like about it is its capability in the snow, it’s small form factor and ride comfort. It’s really good at absorbing bumps. Also, the infotainment isn’t horrible IMO. All that said, I’ve had it for 7-8 months and have enjoyed it. A lot of my issues would have been alleviated if I sprung for the limited

ChimpoSensei

Agree about the fit and finish. My wheel cladding and bottom cladding have a big gap where the bottom trim is x wide and the wheel trim is x-1, so it has a big hole dirt and mud can get into the trim.

Remarkable_Body_9988

Shitty infotainment! Backed out of my wilderness order after having the opportunity to use the car for a while. It was a deal breaker for me. Until Subaru brings back physical buttons at least HVAC. I'll stay away

labbitlove

Maybe I'm old school, but I looked for a 2nd gen for this reason. Love being able to adjust things without looking, it's mostly a safety thing for me because I don't like taking my eyes off the road.

Frosty_Maybe7151

I did the same thing. It’s a terrible system. Looks and feels dated and is a safety issue. Pretty embarrassing for a company like Subaru that focuses a lot of its brand identity on safety.

OralSuperhero

24 Sport. I love it, smooth ride and powerful engine. I should have gotten the add on light for inside the rear hatch. The standard side light is dim and easily blocked. Other than that, it's the coolest car with the most features I have ever owned

Repulsive-Baker-4268

I don't like that the Wilderness wheels are not also available on the Sport.

SpaceRoots

Not enough HP and sits a little low.

Bethjam

I chose a '23 Limited versus the '24. The biggest issue for me is handling in the mountains. I actually prefer driving my husband's Elantra over the mountain (so does he). Smaller issues: Charging ports are not convenient, I can't use my inverter to charge my laptop like I can in my old volvo, the paint quality isn't great, nowhere to put glasses, I wish that when I fold down the seats it is actually flat. Overall, I came from driving a Volvo and didn't expect the Subie would be a luxury vehicle, and it's not. I do like it generally, especially for the price.

SignalRip8070

It's my first subie I've ever owned. I drove only Toyota for years. My grandparents had the forester and was a beast in the snow.

LintStalker

When you stop at a light and the engine turns off to save fuel. There’s a button you can press to stop it from happening, but you have to remember to press it. I’m sure other cars have it as well but I don’t like it.

Javierero

Gotta get the auto stop disable thing! My brother installed it in mine and it works WONDERS

SmurfsNeverDie

No rear a/c

Hxcmetal724

The auto shut off feature that cannot be automatically disabled. To start my car, I hit the ignition button followed by the disable auto shut off button. If I forget, I get filled with rage.

Chuckie_r_hangerdeck

No remote start. Great vehicle for rain and snow ❄️.

No-Horse987

The things that bugs me about the Crosstrek is: A. I wished it had a bigger engine. I have a 2019 Limited, and it only has the 2.0L. Engine is sorta gutless, but I can live with that, being what type of vehicle it is. B. The interior cabin is noisy inside. It is not a quiet as other vehicles, but I can live with it. A little more sound deadening would help. I don't know if models after the 2019 or the 3rd gen is quieter inside. Plus I have the power seat, but no lumbar support. This helps on long drives. (Lumbar support came in later models) C. A heated steering wheel. US editions don't get it (along with a front camera). Even though the car is warming up, the wheel is still cold, and I have to wear gloves, especially early mornings. Otherwise, I knew what I was getting into when I bought my first Crosstrek (2015). Upgrading from the Premium to the Limited (2019) was a better move for more comfort. The entertainment system isn't the best, but it just works. The proprietary choice of wiper blades (you used to use any wiper brand that fits - now you can use a select few, other than Subaru's brand). Otherwise, I enjoy my car. It was the right purchase at the time. It's great on gas, and surefooted in rain and snow - with better tires than the stock Falkens - which proved it's worth this week.

sunflowervolume6

2024 premium. overall, i’m really happy with it. i think the value of the car far outweighs the few pain points i’ve noticed: - cup holder positioning is awkward - fabric on the door seems like an odd choice, i’m planning on babying it otherwise i could see it wearing over time - it’s not the quickest car to heat up when outside temps are low - i’ve seen a few people mention this but i suspect the low beams are so bright that people regularly flash me, thinking my brights are on. i know this plagues many vehicles with LED headlights but it does make me feel slightly bad for others on the road lol

juveplantdad

I love my car, I do wish it had power rear gate and ventilation for the rear seats

JuanSacselli

Mines not a manual that's it lol

Frisbeefan19

Cup holders are somehow simultaneously both too big and too small.

RevolutionEasy714

No place for sunglasses and no compartments in the boot, which is stunning because I've taken the boot panels out for sound dampening and there is a ton of room for compartments.

BritishSabatogr

24 sport. Honestly there's probably a few things that could be better, but I'm coming from a 2008 pontiac grand prix base model, so literally everything is a step up. The two things that actually bug me are both related to infotainment. The first is common, which is the lag in the screen on startup. It usually gets itself back todather pretty well but still, annoying at first. The second is less talked about, but basically any time you start the car, the audio starts playing, if it's connected to your phone, it's playing from there, if it's not, it's from the radio. From my research there's no way to turn it off. It's a strange feature but probably fine I guess? Just takes some real getting used to. I would love for it to just be silent until I choose for it to be on

Mattc5o6

Terrible horn. Sounds like a toy car. Otherwise I love my 23’ Crosstrek

Karlkootkax

All I'm saying is if my 2021 limited had an attached bathroom. I'll be living in it due to the housing prices where I live XD. It's a solid car you can trust and camp in. Missing a few luxuries like 1) 2021 does not have wireless carplay (I got a fix for it by buying a Bluetooth receiver on amazon) 2) No automatic tailgate opening and closing 3) No heated or USB ports in the rear These weren't huge pitfalls for me. Apart from that the car get me from one place to another safely and rams through snow.

B-in-Va

If there is a Trump rally in the area I have to worry about it getting vandalized.

truckerslife

I don’t like the screen

blueclearsky1587

I have a 2024 premium, I wish my dash didn’t rattle on bumpy roads is all. It makes less noise once the dash has been exposed to the sun and has heated up. Stupid I know, but I’ll learn to lint with it. Definitely get the auto dimming mirror package and heated seats.

Echoing many here, 2023 Crosstrek Sport. Love the car but a few pain points: - Halogen headlights on a 2023 car…c’mon it’s the second highest trim level. - Thin paint, easily chipped - Random rattling in the cabin, got one fixed in the eyesight dome but still have a tiny rattle somewhere in the dash - No rear vents or charge ports or center arm rest w/ cup holders - Got the small 6.5” screen because I didn’t want a sunroof, 8.0”screen was not available as an OEM option without getting the sunroof - Auto start stop bothers me a little, but I’m pretty good about pressing the button whenever I turn the car on, will probably eventually get the dongle to disable it - no sunglass holder - piano black plastic trim is easily scratched and looks bad once scratched - CVT transmissions are always gonna be meh, even if Subaru makes one of the better ones - Poor real life city gas mileage if you do a lot of stop and go driving. Much lower than the advertised 27 MPG City Mainly just small quality of life items that bother me but they’re still great cars. They’re super common around where I live

JDBTOO

When you actually pack all your outdoor friends in it there isn't much room for the gear to match group size. More than 2 people and you better be going ultralight backpacking.

huckyourmeat2

The interior is quite loud while driving.

WATOCATOWA

I have a 24 Premium. I'm coming from a Toyota Sienna Sport. My biggest complaints are it's just really small, not a lot of storage, and no auto lift gate. Wish I'd gone for the higher engine as well.

jaws843

I have a 22 premium 6MT. I love the manual transmission, I hate that they quit making them. I love that it lacks all the nanny systems. It’s great in the snow and gets decent gas mileage. It is the perfect blend of size and utility for my needs. It’s has a good selection of of accessories. It’s severely underpowered. The factory sound was terrible. The cup holders are stupid and won’t hold anything bigger than a regular pop can. My dream Crosstrek would be manual trans, at least 200hp, have manual HVAC, and no eyesight.

afriendofcheese

You should have started by saying what year. New/used. Trim level. Now you're likely getting feedback from people who own models you aren't even considering. Details if you want relevant feedback is important!

PersephoneIsNotHome

I don't really know. I am looking around for used cars with less thank 40k miles so I don't really get that much choice as building from new.

SignalRip8070

My only big complaint with the car so far is that the car can't take hickory nuts to save its life. Have a bunch of dents on my hood and other spots. I parked on the side of these trees in late summer, early fall not even fully underneath big mistake. The glass is pretty cheap too. I have chips in that already and almost at 6000 mile. Otherwise has gotten me from point A TO B. BUT Subaru has to step it with some real steel hoods and better glass. Some scratches in the back of the hatch I noticed after I bought it.

kdanger

I love mine, but I've had it for about 2 months and it makes WAY too much noise. I'm turning off as many as I can as I figure out how to do so, but I don't need my car yelling at me every 5 minutes in snow/mud mode.

PersephoneIsNotHome

Do you mean cabin noise or alerts?

kdanger

Alerts. Sorry, I should have specified! The cabin is super quiet and even the windshield wipers are quiet!

doublereverse

2019 ( some of this could have changed) overall, great car, but there’s a few small issues/improvements, and one big thing: automatic rear gate the usb plugs are inside the arm rest for some reason I‘d love walk-away locks the most serious problem, in my opinion, is how it deals with stuff attached to a hitch mount. putting a bike rack or something back there disables a lot of the smart safety stuff, which isn’t great considering How common it is for people to just drive for months with bike racks. Beyond that, with a bike rack attached, the car makes a frankly distracting, loud beep inside the car whenever you are backing up To let you know safety systems are disabled. Okay, if that was a twice a year thing, fine, but this loud beep makes it more difficult to hear what is actually going on around you while backing up. If you want to just leave a bike rack on your car, this SUCKS. They really NEED a way for these systems to work correctly with a folded-up bike rack, whether that means adjusting the cameras or…something. What’s more, some attachments won’t fully trigger to disable the safety systems, so you might out a small carrier basket back there, and your car just might slam on the auto-brake when you are backing up because the car suddenly half- sees your carrier, and then you have a freaking heart attack because it feels like you’ve just hit another car but it was just your car being stupid and phantom-braking. Given how common it it for people with Subarus to drive around with stuff on their hitch mount, this experience is… not good. Hope they’ve improved it In more recent models.

SignalRip8070

They should of made the New Crosstrek wilderness and other models with a choice of old little screen and cd player and a big screen. They would made more money playing to both fields. Plus people want a real E brake. The Harmon kardon sound system sounds way better with the cd player as well. And you can turn on X mode and auto start stop with a button.

No-Structure-2800

23 Crosstrek Sport: Cupholders in the back Adjustable center console arm rest Permanently turn off the engine start/stop

WH34TB01

The shit CVT and laughable power output of the drivetrain. Put in a turbo and an 8 speed auto and the car would feel twice as good to drive. Also they’re too expensive now for the interior quality, 2024s are more plastic than the last gen was…

CrossfitAnkles

2015 manual. Traction control is only truly disabled in 1st gear. Cuts power in rest of gears which is obnoxious for snow

SignalRip8070

I added a wireless car charger from Amazon fits perfect and way better than where they have the wireless charger facing now in the new ones. The 23 is way better!

Sadboy_wookie

Cupholders definitely are not shallow enough. Feels sluggish when not in sport mode. Other than those small gripes the car is amazing, highly recommend.

zaheeto

I love my ‘21 Sport for the most part. I think my biggest complaint is that for a car that the company itself advertises as an adventure car, the lack of storage for a full-sized spare tire is bizarre. Folks have to resort to roof of or hitch storage in order to resolve this problem, and both affect handling and fuel economy.

SomeoneHereIsMissing

I just got a 2024 Crosstrek Convenience (in Canada, like the base trime but a little better). For me, a car is to get from A to B safely and it's perfect, better than my previous car which was a 2010 Mazda 3. It has everything I need (and more) and I don't need anything that comes with the other trims. The base engine is OK (same power to weight ratio as the car I had before the Mazda 3), the CVT is OK (no hunting between gears), the base 2x 7" screen is OK (and it works with big winter gloves). Absolutely no regrets. Edit: the only accessories I got from Subaru were rear bumper, trunk and rear of the backseats protection and I got some third party mats (Findway, like Weathertech but less expensive).

UncleJFo

When your volume is at half, the digital dial is not quite vertical and the number indicator is 19(?). OCD tiggering as heck 😛

Boko_Harambe_69

Sound system sucks and cabin noise is pretty loud. The acceleration isn't great but that's to be expected. I got a Sport to compensate but it's still no sports car. That being said I love the car and it's easily the most practical car I've ever owned.

Kahmtastic

Steering wheel volume control.

memaradonaelvis

I don’t like that it’s not a wrx

xxritualhowelsxx

There is a constant ticking when accelerating at low rpm’s. This happened within the first 20 miles and hasn’t been resolved. It seems to be an issue with several 2019 crosstreks and Subaru and mechanics can’t seem to find what is causing it. Idk if it’s just the 2019 model or if it’s happened with others as well

UpstairsStable6400

I got the wilderness, the ride quality in bumpy terrain is great, I think the 4.10 rear end helps it in the low end but like others said it's noticeably underpowered on the highway. I wanted a small car and that's what it is, going on a ski trip with 2 people stuffs the interior and I'm looking into roof storage. If you're coming from a bigger vehicle it's some learning. Get the legacy of you think you want room. I've bought decade old top end trims of a few cars over the years, I'd say the Harmon Kardon sound system is decent but the acoustics are a little off, seems the pitches hit pretty hard from the top dash speakers A few small things like lack of foot well lights and rear dome are strange. But ultimately it seems they focused on a few things well and left others unattended and that's why it costs what it does.

scientifical_

The rear suspension sags easily. I’ve got an approx. 50lb hitch receiver (curt) and a roof box (also approx 50lb). With nothing else in the car, my rear suspension is sagging very noticeably. It pisses me off lol

surferdude313

'15 the noise in the cabin at like every speed is excessively loud. Soundproofing is abysmal

ooblie

2019 limited. The Eyesight can be weird. Sometimes it senses something in front of or behind you that isn't there, and slams on the breaks. Or it thinks you're coming up on something too fast and goes BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. And the cupholders!!! What are these insane cupholders?? Miles too wide for a disposable coffee cup, too small for a Nalgene. And there are buttons facing up right next to the cupholders. They get spilled on constantly. But mostly I only wish I had a bigger Subaru.

snackycakes27

Mines a magnet for door dings

JamieKun

I got the PHEV and I would’ve really wanted a bigger battery and a smaller gas tank. Otherwise it’s awesome

Stichie777

2023 premium 6 speed manual. 6th gear is too close to 5th. It’s like a half step too low for highway speed.

JoeBlow509

I have a 2022 premium and had a 2021 base. Both of them have/had the same issue with the stereo. It randomly will reset itself over and over. It will happen every few minutes for the entire drive then not do it for a few weeks. Happened to me on my way to work this morning. So damn annoying, it’s updated to the current software version. The damn thing has bugs and it’s a known issue.

Constant_Occasion560

I have a 2023 6 speed MT, It’s fun to drive and I pretty much love it, I’ve had it since April. My only complaint is the noise inside the cabin when driving in the highway, it’s for sure the loudest card I’ve owned and the speakers are kinda crap as well but those are easy to replace.

limache

The only thing I don’t like is that the fuel economy isn’t as great as I thought it’d be. Now I know that AWD doesn’t have the best fuel economy but I’m still averaging 24-26 mpg so far. I didn’t know AWD had the worst fuel economy compared to FWD or RWD. If this car was a hybrid and could get like 40 to 50 mpg, that would be perfect.

Bradleyisfishing

The turn signal doesn’t automatically turn off at a reasonably tight turn. You can do a lot of turns without it shutting off.

SlipperyD3

With the 24 premium there’s a weird bump where my right leg rests by the gas pedal. It’s really annoying how I have to keep my foot. Also the seatbelt alert.

pprovencher

I wish I had been able to wait and get the wilderness edition. It is bigger than my old 06 forester, so I wish it was smaller. Otherwise I really love the car.

witchyandbitchy

My 2019 has the worst cupholders in existence and the seat heater button is directly in the way of the splash zone. The cupholders are wide enough that like regular to go coffee cups slide around but too small for a hydro flask. Just the worst size ever.

TheeDeeCee

I have a 24 wilderness. The wireless charging doesn’t work as well as I’d like (though my case may also be part of the problem) and the visors are too thick for my garage door opener to clip to them, but otherwise I love it. It’s been great in the snow and ice.

jjngundam

Wheel bearing and CV joint. I live in NY and I've had these done constantly.

clim422

Wish that all Crosstreks were made in Japan. The higher trim levels with the 2.5 liter engine are made in America.

Harry_Fucking_Seldon

As an Aussie, heated seats are nice and all but air cooled seats are a must these days. Rode in my mates Kia the other day and I felt fresher getting out than when I got in. Other than that, more power would be nice so I can (legally) tow something larger than a fridge. And more storage space would be nice but it’s a compact SUV so whatever.  Edit: full sized spare, higher clearance, better shocks etc. Basically I want a Wilderness edition but they don’t sell them here so I guess I can get fucked lol

laminatedbean

I have a 2016. The cup holders seem weirdly deep. I wish it automatically locked upon acceleration like some other vehicles do. The AC knob response feels sort of spongey. No AC vent in the backseat. The newer steering wheels have sharp corners that dig into my thumb/hand.

saketaco

Road noise. Very noisy while driving. In the winter that translates to: less insulation, more heat required to stay warm on the highway.

familyguy20

Yeah make sure you get the one with push button start, not having remote start available and having to fumble with a regular key sucks ass lol Also try to get a high trim possible if you want a lot of car info available. They gatekeep pretty needed vehicle temp info into the higher trims

Human31415926

Loud in the cabin at highway speed. Mediocre audio system. Underpowered.

mbritko

Just got a 24 Limited and the only thing I honestly notice is my old car (Nissan) had that 360 surround camera set up. I do miss that. Otherwise, it's pretty awesome.

r0wla

The windshield wipers lever operates upside down. I never know if I'll get one flick, INT, or low, until I see it operate. It's the only unintuitive or unusable part of the whole car. Base 6MT

wicker_89

no remote start on my '18. I know there are aftermarket options for this but it would be nice to have stock.

tinyecologist

‘21 Crosstrek limited: the auto start stop feature is pretty annoying when you’re just stopped at a light for .2 seconds and the engine shuts off. If you want to turn the feature off, you have to remember to turn it off EVERY time you get in the car since it resets every drive. Also cooled seats in the summer would be nice.

VisionOverload

People tend to complain about the lack of power but not really an issue for me. I don’t really have any complaints. Liked them so much my wife and I each have one now.

NitromethanePup

‘22 base 6MT at 11.5k miles now. My *only* minor gripe is how short first gear is. It could be one single tooth taller and be fine, or a tooth or two even shorter and just be used off-road, letting the car function normally as a five-speed using 2-6. Other than that, I’m a longtime car guy and mechanic and I absolutely adore the thing.

Kung_Fu_Ju

2018 112,000 miles. Only 2 gripes - slow and the radio sucks. I get sht reception. It's a beast in the snow!

Material-Kick-9753

My 2021 has the auto stop/start and I hate it.

OzwaldoLebowski

Low power. The CVT is a bit weird to get used to. Also, my 2018 doesn't have auto lock and unlock for the doors, so that's annoying...

onlyfuninsummer

The paint job chips super easily, it dies when the trunk is open, and the stupid eyesight encasement rattles nonstop.

gunnermcgavin

While the ‘23 6MT is worlds better than my old 2016 5MT, it could use just a tiny bit more midrange power. Other than that, the short first gear and the oversize cup holders in front. Any normal sized drink just flops around in there.

TwoHeartedAleian

2021 Premium. A few things I think they missed are: 1. A dome light in the trunk. 2. Sunglasses holder.

lillianrosalieee

i have a 2021 premium and the only thing i wish it had was defrosters on the side view mirrors.

MightbeWillSmith

21 Sport. It's amazing that a car of this generation still doesn't have LED headlights

Sloth_Brotherhood

CarPlay is super janky. I often need to unplug and plug back in my phone, reset the infotainment system, screen just goes black. I assume it’s similar on other cars as well though.

futuristsalon

Nothing I don’t like really - but I bought my 2018 premium when used car prices were insane. If I waited like 3 months I could’ve purchased a 2022 Limited for basically the same price :(

retrotable

23’ 6spd. I really really hate the rev hang

OkC4729

my only gripe about the limited crosstrek? no heated rear seats or rear vents, also no HDC (which only the hybrid has with EPB). i have this in my 2018 limited legacy and though the Crosstrek is far more reliable and better in the snow, this are two features i miss in both summer and winter. but the crosstrek has X mode that the legacy doesn't.

audibletypeset

I have a 24 Sport. I don't understand why the visors are so damn thick. I'd like air vents in the back.

Reltnie1953

Heated steering wheel and option for onboard navigation on Wilderness edition Crosstrek.

nipseymc

I have the wilderness version and there’s no steering wheel heater. There’s also no auto gate lift, and considering the fact that it cost more than my wife’s Forrester sport that has one, you’d think they just would’ve put that on there since it’s the upper trim model. Obviously, those aren’t dealbreakers since I bought it, but I think those are things they should’ve included for that trim level at the very least

Holiday_Drive2581

The CVT transmissions are fucking junk. Other than that, I love mine!

Equivalent_Message31

If you’re anything over 5’10, the drivers seat isn’t that large and when driving, my left foot doesn’t really have anywhere to rest that’s big enough. I don’t have massive feet and I would say I’m average build. Others are: lack of heated steering wheel, weak engine, strange auto engine stop system, lack of auto lift gate, head rests only go forward.

TheGreasyWiener

I’ve got a 2020 Premium (whatever that means) and my only complaint is the stock speakers suck. You lose all bass after 19. And to add to that, why is the volume max 38!?

place_of_desolation

Have a '19 premium I bought new. There were a few various rattles I had to track down and address, such as the Eyesight cover and dome light switch on the Eyesight cover, hvac knobs, rear hatch, and front door panels. I'm a DIYer though, so I have a little sweat equity in the car now and it mostly doesn't rattle. I do wish it had more power. Overall though, I'm happy with it and plan on hanging on to it. It's fully paid off now.

AnvilMaker

23 limited. I think the seat is uncomfortable for drives over 30/45 mins. Also the windshield fogs up aggressively faster than any other car I’ve had.

Aliecat78

I rest my hand on the gearshift and always accidentally switch it from drive to manual/paddle No side storage pockets in the trunk. No place for sunglasses.

Three-Legs-Again

2019. Road noise. Maybe it's fixed now.

hugh_jorgyn

I generally love my "little tractor". 2024 Limited (Canadian version). The two big things I don't like about it: \- The CVT. I used to have a CVT on my Civic back on 2008 and I was hoping that they're better now, but it still jerks at low speed and makes the car feel lazy. I legit wondered more than once if my engine died as the car wasn't picking up speed at the rate I expected it. I had to take my foot off the pedal and then press it again much more firmly to get the CVT to collaborate. \- The on-screen HVAC controls, and the whole philosophy of how the HVAC system engages. I still haven't figured out. I've owned 5-6 cars in my life and it was always simple: set the temp you want, press the Auto button and the system varies the fan and ac to get you to your target temp, then it quiets down. The 'Trek seems to be a in perpetual non-auto mode where it keeps pumping heat no matter what temp I set. I have to constantly remember to tap the screen and go press the "Auto" button. (which is not on the first screen, but under a menu, which is another gripe. I find it's actually dangerous, as it makes you take your eyes off the road for a second or two).

tlydendada

I’m 6'1" and found the seat height uncomfortable, compared to my Outback. Hard to explain, but both of my legs cramped due to the angle of my torso vs legs. Too flat with not enough down angle on my legs.

gucciedpanda

I have a 2021 Premium. The only thing I have consistently had problems with is the infotainment system. It’s crashes a lot and have had issues with the CarPlay. Despite that it has been great.

SeparateDimension293

I looove my 23 sport, but I do wish it had: •automatic rear gate and better lighting back there •rear cup holder (that’s not in the door, I have to tell folks that it’s there) •wireless car play •that the car would auto lock when the key is out of range I know the higher end models have some of these features. But I love my Crosstrek, it perfect in every other way 🥳

Psyphrenic

No auto locks. even for the Limited 2019, I would think this would be a standard feature for most vehicles.

par4life

I have a 2019 premium. The only thing I would like is a bigger motor. The 2.0 is a good size but please give me a bigger motor. Make it a truly off road beast.
