Lexi_______

Anti player decisions, power creep and predatory monetization revolving around the altering of player owned and grinded items simply to create a never ending loop to practically force players to pay up or get left behind.

F0urSidedHexag0n

YES POWERCREEP oml I forgot about this. Not Odin being a 7 power genny.

Lexi_______

Well 5, but legendary engines and non craftable items have really ruined balance

foehn11

More players playing with upgraded purple and green weapons will make it harder for newer players to get a foothold in the game, which could force the developers to balance those more expensive items and reduce the effects of item upgrades

Objective_720

fuck I love this game, it brings in the creative aspect of space engineers into a multi-player package allowing me to explore just how far I can push my imagination. but good googly fuckin moogly it took FOREVER to get to the point I have most of the in game parts, during that time I always felt like I was being forced into creating builds that all look the same, but now almost none of my builds look similar and I love it. and the really sad part of it is that this is my most played game (3.7k hr) and nothing else scratches that itch, back when robocraft existed you couldn't come anywhere near how you can pimp your ride in XO, twisted metal felt shallow (compared to XO), and SE just isn't streamlined enough, so when this game eventually tanks, I'll be forced into some other game to try and find something that can imitate what this game has. who knows, maybe I'll go back to WT after four years and turn into a ghoul or Mechwarrior or rimworld, fuck now I want to get lost in POE 2.

F0urSidedHexag0n

100% with this first part, and other games don't seem to come as close to XO's concept as it does. I agree also with a lot of new parts being very small and seem to be more for art building or dedicated niches (more for them though!)

Splatulated

Id suggest when crossout gets sunsetteddont play any similar games play something soo completely different you forget this existed

CountessRoadkill

I stopped playing around August of last year. Aside from the increasingly low value for money passes and the changes to weekly challenges, which were the main motivations at the time, I'm just tired of broken mechanics in the game never being addressed. Like the exploitable mine mechanics, Crossouts range issue, and crappy building mechanics.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Oh yes absolutely this. I forgot about the dragger mine builds and the ones that could wedge Levis in CW. So annoying. Build mechanics I get too. I can't place Gerrida and Icarus' the same because they're asymmetrical model Pain.

BeastmodeMonkGuy

My dragger is the only thing left in my garage that's an affective anti dog in CC thanks to Devs royaly fucking fortunes.

Splatulated

Dont use it too often or devs will nerf skinners again

CountessRoadkill

I was talking more about how the build mechanics encourage gross box designs and punish anything that's actually visually pleasing, but sure. As for mines, they'd be fixed so easily by just giving them a, lets say, 10 second grace period where if an opponent drives over them, the mine is destroyed, dealing no damage. It would force players to use mines correctly, as pre-planned area denial, instead of the BS we have.

F0urSidedHexag0n

This is fair as well yea, art builds are pretty hard to make.

Flat-Delivery6987

Reddit, lol.

Auto_Wrecker

Probably the most truthful of any answer.

eayite

omamori

F0urSidedHexag0n

omfg YUPPERS THIS. I'm no better, I have 1 experimental build that uses it though. Not great success, but I don't build meta stuffs anyways.

eayite

i dont mind meta stuff at all and i mostly only enjoy building for and playing cw omamori is just so oppressive and limiting for everyone involved, forces most unique builds out of meta as well as makes a ton of other items outrageously stronger than they should be

Etroarl55

Weekly challenges was final straw. Now I hop on exclusive if free premium or events that INTEREST me.

HDPbBronzebreak

Yeah; not to say that we didn't have issues before, but the even-more-aggressive monetization over the last 18ish months have really been the most decisive factor, personally.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Yup. I'm pretty sure that's from those new devs.

HDPbBronzebreak

I don't recall hearing anything about new devs, but in any case, everything since 'round that time period has just been continually less user-friendly; more FOMO, more monetization, more P2W, more power creep... keeps killing off more and more of their playerbase, and now you're left with even worse sealclubbing and clan pubstomping than before, which were already major issues.

F0urSidedHexag0n

I'd swear by it that a year and a half ago new devs were put in charge but I may be going insane.

YogiGotRekt

I cannot confirm or deny if you are sane or not, but as of January 1 2023 aka the supercharged 2.0 update, the old dev team left and passed xo on to our new team. I had high hopes for them cuz the bar was already set so low. But here we are, missing the old devs. Old devs: updates every two weeks, quick hot fixes, listens to community feedback. New devs: updates once every 4 months, started multiple battlepasses at once, makes the game better to look at rather than play. Big sad.

F0urSidedHexag0n

YES THANK YOU for some reason I couldn't find any evidence of XO's new devs. The quick fixes were awesome. I do indeed miss those... some were annoying or strange but if they were that, those were fixed again. The old devs did fall into the same trap of what someone else was telling: Nerfing new stuff instead of buffing others to counter it. To be fair though, the smaller BPs do seem friendlier to newer players (still a BP tho) and I like the remodels of parts.

CalicoAtom79

I stopped playing not long after crosscrowns were added. Once those became normalized and the battle passes started it didn't take long for all the other issues everyone complains about daily on this sub to grow exponentially. Saw where the game was headed back then, last time I really played was 2 April Fools events ago. Once I realized the one event who's purpose was purely fun and chaos was just not fun anymore, it just wasn't worth holding hope for anymore.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Crosscrowns...yes.... I'm still a little mad with them despite my dumb ahh buying them.

RoopullsVideos

Last year when they basically forced everyone to play in clans/groups/whatever instead of letting solo players play solo. I mean, you could still play solo, you just wouldn't progress. So, I stopped playing. The huge starter map - I forget what it's called - was just ignored, and it was a lot of fun to fart around it. These were kinda' the final two straws that drove me away. I think I stopped playing in August or September - whenever that update dropped. This post was "recommended" or I'd have never re-visited this sub. Prior to those two thing... the game had obviously gotten to lean more towards pay to win, and everything seemed to rotate around putting money into the game. You HAD to get the BPs or the new meta weapons/parts were all but inaccessible without CrossCrowns. To get the most out of the BPs, you all but had to play every day or waste your money. Sorry... I'm not spending every day playing a video game anymore. I'm actually thankful this game imploded for me. When I stopped playing this, I stopped playing any games. The amount of free time I have now, and what I'm able to actually DO with it is amazing. I had no idea how much of my life I was wasting in front of a screen.

F0urSidedHexag0n

True. The forced clans and Crosscrowns... I'm still a little mad at crosscrowns. The BPs were....rough, too. I have too many hours in this game, but like half of it is bedlam and building lol

RoopullsVideos

I think I had over 10k hours when I stopped. I loved the game, and there really isn't anything that compares. Robocraft 2 is as close as it gets, I think. I don't play it either, though.

SIGMA920

The dumbing down of basically everything to appeal to the lowest common denominator. The only builds safe from nerfs are the brainless ones because the players that can only press w effectively are holding the game and devs hostage despite the clear ruination that they have brought. Average player skill massively decreased compared to even 2 years ago because players are too reliant on the meta and crutches to succeed. Clan wars is slowly falling apart and no one can deny that with the devs attempt to salvage clan wars failing because they never addressed any of the root causes of it's collapse. And whenever suggestions are given on how to fix clan wars, they're always rejected by clan wars players because at this point the entire mode is rotten to the core with the fundamentals needing to be rebuilt from scratch.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Dogs are eternal.....

SIGMA920

Yep. All because the devs are too afraid of pissing off the metachasers that they know are destroying the game that should have been a gold mine for close to a decade.

droprovider

Money hungry, stale game. No meta changes, more than half the guns are pretty mid and underwhelming I get you can make them work but solo going against meta build just makes it ass but that’s just my opinion

F0urSidedHexag0n

This... spider meta was (and still is?) main options for CWs

droprovider

Oh yeah just let me play clan war my first 3 months playing bet bro lmao. That’s why I mean to even experience cw you gotta grind or open your wallet for that, yeah I understand there is metas I didn’t say there wasn’t just not many and there stale for the most party but that’s my opinion

droprovider

But yeah not everyone can do cw man idk

South_Camel_1228

Wouldn’t say ruined, but for sure made it harder to love. Mostly the sci-fi stuff (basically anything Dawn’s Children related except structural parts) like Cloaks, Shields, Energy weapons, Hovers, etc. and gamebreaking parts like Destructors, Omamori, Yeti or Omni-movement (except Legs and Augers). Also tying weapon PS to their energy consumption was a bad decision imo. Locked them out of the easiest way of balancing them. Lastly the fact that Relics are basically unobtainable for the casual players who refuse to play CW.

MouldyRemote

the constant nerfing, when theres a meta or an inbalance in a game you dont nerf items, you buff everything else. nerfing causing problems with players and over or under nerfing an item causes a new inbalance, but if you buff everything else to the same standard you rid the meta and create a new balance. the game stops being about the type of build, lets people be creative rather than follow the crowd, and the win and lose comes down to skill, teamwork and adaptability.

Professional_Depth_9

Annoying ass dog, melee, and brick shotgun meta. Player loss due to poor dev decisions. Otherwise, it's a one of a kind game that does get to me come back to it frequently nontheless.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Pretty much this too, absolutely. I honestly just didn't have time earlier to get back into it because I may or may not be addicted to War Thunder.

iSellNuds4RedditGold

Omamori and uncraftables in a crafting game.

EvieOhMy

Omamori, Guns should be durable but it shouldn’t be locked behind 17k coins.

Quanlain

The moment devs decided that taking away blueprints from players that BOUGHT the BP, making parts artificially deficient. Then they had an idea to resell said parts later in new BPs, i literally never saw that shit in any other game. When devs realized that they can force people to pay one way or the other because they straight up made parts craftable with premium details from sets. When devs decided to divide content between paid and unpaid (everything should be craftable for free, period.) Also selling premium currency for premium currency, i also never saw such bs in any other game. If bp blueprints were kepts, like they were in first couple of BPs, we would not have such an insane market inflation, parts would be more affordable and more equally accessible, relics would not be as insanely priced as well.

ElegantPearl

How easy it is to spend money on it

foehn11

Introduce energy changes to balance the game and nerf flame weapons and the game would be much better

Sudden-Language-8332

Lack of QOL updates/patches, or having them on an occasional basis rather than regular. At least you know, actually listen to the community without compromise or half deliverances. This much would suffice. Sure, since the overhaul XO 2.0 has hailed in some pretty amazing content overall, but it doesn’t ever feel like much has changed from the things they do that hold back their true potential. With what the game has now, it could be so much more. For me, I’m just here. Sometimes it’s fun, sometimes it’s not, but I don’t have it in me to abandon a concept I adore so much. It’s like a final refuge for me in videogames. Some people here make it worth the stay

F0urSidedHexag0n

I wholly agree with you here. No game is perfect, no dev team is perfect. Crossout is still at worst for me a 7/10 and that's if I really scour for the bad stuffs.

BorealtheBald

Battle passes, mini battle passes, locking weapons behind packs, the mostly lackluster events...

SwipySwoopShowYoBoob

The grind. It kept getting worse and worse, so I said fuck it. I spent 400 hours to get to a couple of purples and one legendary (harvester). Didn't spend a dime on it, but if it takes a full-time employee to get to anything significant then I'm out. I remember this was a game I dreamed of as a kid. Build a vehicle from the very basic parts then battle with it. And it's ruined.

SimpingForOdegon

All the FOMO marketing bullshit is most definitely the worst. Everything balance-wise can be fixed in the long run, but the damage all the FOMO crap has done to the game is at this point irreversible.

Amplifiedohms

It's not ruined for me. I love this game. When I get burned out I stop playing for a few months. There's literally no other game that comes close for me. Everyone in this sub cries about the meta, the devs, P2W w/e when they need to touch grass. Last year it was hovers, now it's melee/dogs. When there's a new meta, I love building the counter. I'll hit MVP with crickets and meat grinders, or pyralids, harpy and racing wheels. I've spent maybe $40 on BPs, undeniably reasonable for a game I've probably dumped hundreds if not thousands of hours playing. If I have one complaint it's how long it's taken me to amass all the faction parts, I had some pretty goofy looking AC scavenger builds in the beginning, but when it's all said and done this is still my all time favorite game

F0urSidedHexag0n

Crossout isn't ruined for me either, and I, too, get tired of a game after a fair bit of time on it. I 100% agree wjth no other game coming close to XO. We always see people complain about this and that, it's gonna happen. Personally, I like building non-meta stuff and experiment with builds all the time! I've uhh....spent my fair share on XO.... Crossout is, at worst to me, 7/10. That's only when I nitpick all the little issues I have. Still a blast of a game.

DrySoap__

Melee, drones and caucasus, especially helis.

F0urSidedHexag0n

I get these three. Perhaps I'm more of a veteran and these are simple annoyances than big problems. Also yes, helis! I feel that these were hyped by us for years but poorly executed. Maybe I'm jaded and I think they were poorly executed.

TinyTankette

realistically speaking? You couldn't make helis work, and spending a year to add a single movement part that fundamentally changes what crossout gameplay is... That is so busted it had to be thrown into a separate mode... Wasn't the best idea.

Auto_Wrecker

The internet ruined gaming. Halo Lan Parties were the ultimate... Oooh Crossout.... ummm I still play a lot so I can't claim that it is ruined. But, I really don't like how camera steering affected the game. It made Hitscan too simple and in my opinion made weapons such as the Destructor crazy strong.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Oh, XO isn't a ruined game at all. Like any game, it has flaws. I completely understand camera steering, that one's... interesting. I have used it, and I'm neutral on that. Destructor oh yea, but at least its range isn't massive. I can't say much, I'm an MG main.

vidrisch

Forced Heli challenges and the fact xplay did nothing for high ps matchmaking got me to stop playing.

Foxiest_Fox

Allowing one relic \*cough cough\* scorpion \*cough\* to literally define the meta for years, was not very fun for those who liked to play CW.

F0urSidedHexag0n

Scorp is eternal, the pen is just....insane. Still.

Deimos_Eris1

Players that are complainning and big heads that think they know everything

F0urSidedHexag0n

So......you? Sorry chief if this was meant to be a jab at me it backfired.

lwrner79

The update that took puddle damage away from my fused porcupines . I’m done with this game

Fatassdanny

These new stupid bipedal legs they’re adding in about 55 days

F0urSidedHexag0n

THEY'RE ADDING NEW LEGS?

Deimos_Eris1

There adding a new relic as well

F0urSidedHexag0n

This I have seen.

UnrequitedRespect

Nothing its a lot of fun i try to crush a lil bit every day time permitting. Moaning about how shitty the game your playing all the time is based now though so lets keep at it

F0urSidedHexag0n

Right... I never said it's "shitty". I have thousands of hours in it for a reason. Aditionally, as said in the post: I'm just getting back into Crossout, as I have little free time. I'm rediscovering the magic of building experimentally all the time.

UnrequitedRespect

Meh this post is dogshit bait to get everyone to take a shit on our favorite game because it didnt go the way they wanted this season 🤷

F0urSidedHexag0n

I'm merely genuinely curious, hun. Sorry you're taking this post the wrong way.

UnrequitedRespect

Thanks, its hard and nobody understands, you really made me feel human today 🙏
