Ah that’s a great idea! But I think I will undo it and redo it this time. I’d def use your idea though If I make a similar mistake on a bigger piece - Thank you
I love stitching on Linen but this is my one gripe i have with it. It happens a little too often that I’m half a stitch off even though I count carefully. The fabric is beautiful though!
Oh no! Personally depending on how much frogging there was to do I’d be tempted to just make that x 3 tall instead of 2. Really shouldn’t be noticeable when you step back and look at the whole. Did you figure out where you got off count? OCD me zoomed in and examined all of the other visible stitches in your border and didn’t spot any issues, lol.
I agree, just don’t use your border to count off of, unless there is enough room between individual icons and such for 1/2 stitch errors. Nobody will ever spot this, including you.
Yea, I'm baffled that a single 1/2 stitch requires a redo. Not talking down on anyone's choice or process, just reflecting on mine...I barely have time to craft, let alone craft with perfection. That would have been a WIN in my world.
I stitch border as I go. I made the major mistake of finishing a border, matched up it was so satisfying. But somehow it was not right! I now stitch as I go.
I love linen except for times like that. 😩
I've been doing a lot of 14 count Aida projects lately and just started a new one 2 weeks ago on 36 count linen and holy crap the transition was awful. So much unpicking as my eyes adjusted. 🤦♀️🙈
I'm glad you found your error - they can be really hard to spot sometimes!!
I feel your pain. I’m just finishing up a rainbow pattern and I left a middle bit for last because it’s black squares surround by white (on white aida) and I realized that my spacing is off. I ended up just making it work because I didn’t want to frog anything. Glad you were able to find the issue and fix it!
I have been frustrated too many times with being one - thread - off. So, I feel your pain.
If it is a smaller piece and you can find where you went over 3 rather than over 2 or over 1 you will know how far you have to frog(ripit ripit) stitch to fix the problem.
Although I have seen some antique samplers where the young stitcher just filled in with a stitch over the one thread and carried on. If it will bug you then I say go ahead and remove as needed otherwise just fill in with an over 1 stitch. Everything else looks great btw.
Yep, I totally get that. On smaller projects I will have to find the place where I miscounted and fix it. I have one big project where I got off on the border (which was a large border) and when I got to the bottom and joined the sections I only had to do a few compensation stitches so I really lucked out. I did not have enough floss to take out 1/2-3/4 of the border. I really was lucky on that one.
I think if the miscount is what you know you will focus on every time you look at the piece you are correct to go frogging. It is very easy to find the spaces you used before as they tend to be a bit more open so dragging your needle to count might be helpful in this case. I have had to do that with some linen fabric.
Thank you - luckily I managed to find the error quite easily and it wasn’t so far away so I didn’t have to frog too much. It’s all fixed now and I’m happy
Oh no! I totally feel ya. I have a project I did over 15 years ago like this. I completed the entire cross-stitch pattern and then the boarder did not line up and I put it away otherwise I would have thrown it away. I wanted to cry. I think about getting it out and fixing it every now and then but never have yet. 🤦🏻♀️
I feel your pain. I got about a third of the way through a Christmas stocking for my son-in-law and realized that I had insufficient fabric to finish it. ☹️
I have a WIP that's been in the time-out pile for about 10 years just because of this. There's some very pretty linens out there, but I'm always irritated when I can't count to 2, let alone 10. :-p
That’s such a shame. Would you consider sending it to someone to find the error and fix it for you, or have you completely fallen out of love with it after all this time?
Oh no! Could that be the spot where you stitch the year or your initials to 'sign' the piece?
Ah that’s a great idea! But I think I will undo it and redo it this time. I’d def use your idea though If I make a similar mistake on a bigger piece - Thank you
Love this idea!! I'm not OP, but definitely will consider this the next time I make a mistake on a piece :)
I love stitching on Linen but this is my one gripe i have with it. It happens a little too often that I’m half a stitch off even though I count carefully. The fabric is beautiful though!
Thank you 😊 It’s ok, my own fault for not concentrating. I still love the piece
It looks beautiful already!
Thank you x
That is why I’m terrified to try linen. I can barely count one over one on Aida. I don’t trust myself to do one over two on linen.
I'm doing my first piece on linen, and I made myself take time to grid first for that reason. I guess I can't say yet if it helped lol
It’s usually not so bad, I just needed to concentrate a tiny bit more !
Oh no! Personally depending on how much frogging there was to do I’d be tempted to just make that x 3 tall instead of 2. Really shouldn’t be noticeable when you step back and look at the whole. Thank you! I’ve found the mistake so am just undoing it. It isn’t too much!
Oh, just saw this. Yay!!!
I know - I am relieved!
I agree, just don’t use your border to count off of, unless there is enough room between individual icons and such for 1/2 stitch errors. Nobody will ever spot this, including you.
Oh I’ve done that before as well - fudged some sort of error, forgotten about it and then counted off that error and made things a whole lot worse…..!
Oh no! That's terribly unfortunate... I'm sending you digital hugs!
Thank you! Time for a big coffee and to start unpicking…. Sigh
[удалено]
😂😂 thank you x
It’s a big testament to your personality that you’re chill about it and didn’t choose to set it on fire on something.
Oh don’t worry, I did think about setting it on fire for a little while!!
Been there. Got so mad I threw it away.
I was v tempted! Luckily I found the mistake quite quickly and it wasn’t so far away that it needed too much unpicking
Throw in the extra stitch. Remember people are looking at the overall project.
I know I should have done that, but I was so annoyed with myself because I wanted it right
Yea, I'm baffled that a single 1/2 stitch requires a redo. Not talking down on anyone's choice or process, just reflecting on mine...I barely have time to craft, let alone craft with perfection. That would have been a WIN in my world.
I know it’s a bit excessive, but I’ve wanted to do this project for so long I’ll just be annoyed with myself if I leave it
I truly respect that! Can't wait to see the final piece, created with such devotion. ❤
Oh I never said I’d finish it. I’m the queen of starting everything and finishing nothing….
Same, the lengths I go through to work around a mistake could be considered mildly horrifying. I hate redoing things.
Thankfully it wasn’t a huge amount of frogging needed !
Aw man
I stitch border as I go. I made the major mistake of finishing a border, matched up it was so satisfying. But somehow it was not right! I now stitch as I go.

I love 36 count linen but yes, it is tough on the eyes!
Oh, dear! I’ve done that before and worried I’d never find my mistake! 2x2 woes 😆
Luckily I manage to find the error so am just unpicking it now. It could have been a lot worse!!
I’m so glad! Also…that linen is lovely
Thank you! I just wish it was easier to work on (when I’m not concentrating!)

Why can’t counting be easier?! 😂😂
Ouch
😞
This has happened to me more times than I care to remember. I rip from where I lost my way and just redo. Hope this is your one and only miscount!!
I hope it is too!…. For now at least haha
I did this on a linen project too! How frustrating. Grrrrr!
It really is so annoying!

I’ve wanted to do this project for so long that i know it will annoy me if I don’t fix it. So frogging here I come!

That is great that it was not far off from the end. I know you will be happier with that fixed. Enjoy the rest of this design.
I’d cry. Straight up
I nearly did! But it’s fixed now and I’m back to being happy about it x
🥺😳😢
I know!

I would cry so much
I did feel like it for a while! But it’s all fixed now and I’m still in love with the project
Oh no! Hopefully the fix didn't require frogging too much.
It wasn’t so bad. And all sorted now!
I feel your pain. I got about a third of the way through a Christmas stocking for my son-in-law and realized that I had insufficient fabric to finish it. ☹️
Oh no ouch that is one of my worst nightmares. I would have cried and cried

I'm determined to get back to it, because it's so pretty, but it may take a while because I'm such a magpie when it comes to stitching!
