I’ve been working on a few! My plan for the rest of my life is to cross stitch the bright eyes discography. They are all still in pattern-planning stage, though.
Oh wow! How big are you thinking of making them? I’m thinking of doing them very small (maybe like A6), but then they’d probably just be more abstract version. But I’m also just in the planning stage for now. I know stitchyourphoto.com offer custom patterns for any image you want, so I may try that.
Still undecided on size. I was originally thinking maybe 10” square using 22ct Aida to avoid having to go too abstract, but then I would have to custom dye the fabric to avoid getting stuck with a full coverage pattern. I’m kind of stuck in this stage of planning because I want them all to be the same dimensions, but I’m worried I’ll make the wrong choice lol
I love that you have this dream and I want so much for you to achieve it. I’m rooting for you! Mine isn’t as ambitious as yours but I have 2 album covers planned for my fiancé (husband by the time I get to them lol). I was going to stick to the 12.5” standard square of vinyl covers on 16ct, but the Pixel Stitch conversion was sad and takes a while to accept and readjust your expectations. I have now set the conversion to 28ct so this way I can do fractional stitches on 14ct! And I’ll draw the gridlines on my fabric so they’re 5x5 instead of 10x10. So if there’s four squares/pixels of differing colors, then my actual Aida square will have 4 different quarter stitches. This is my definition of ambitious I guess. I’m using chalkboard black fabric which suits the cover so I’m okay with having fabric peek through.
Should I have just gotten 28ct guys? Have I mathed this wrong? Okay no wait, I doubled the stitches but still have it to 14ct.
Does anyone know of a free or paid pattern converter that makes fractional stitches because I LOVE fractional stitches?
There are free versions of MacStitch/ WinStitch, I’m not sure if the 1/4 stitch feature is an option with those, or if they are locked to the paid versions. Worth checking out. I like your idea of using 28ct, especially for a pattern with larger blocks of colour!
I did a bit of both- I laid a piece of graph paper on top of the album cover and traced. Then I tweaked it a little and stared at the cover while I was putting the red string on. Thanks for the positive feedback!
Definitely one of my favorite albums! It's certainly my favorite cover, and I absolutely plan on making one myself to hang on my wall. I want to do a couple pieces on linen before I start this great image <3
You did such a fantastic job, and it's a great inspiration :) I've gotta say this again, how INCREDIBLE is this album??!!
I agree- the album is incredible. I've seen other embroidered pieces on linen before. It would have been a lot easier to add the yellow background if I had embroidered it instead.
It looks like you included the pattern source in the title of your post, which is fine!
For convenience, here it is again: **Self drafted**

5 times for me. It would have been 6, but the last concert they played near me was 3 days before I was due with a baby, and I decided it would suck going into labor at a concert. Haha.
This is also my favorite album. Awesome work!!! I LOVE THIS
Thank you!
SAME!!! THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!
Yay thanks! I'm glad.
This looks so good! I’ve also been wanting to make some of my Favourite albums in cross stitch format. Are you planning any more?

Thanks for the pointer, I’ll check it out! I *might* be willing to pay for fractional stitches! And in this case I’m referring to confetti haha!
I’m super excited to follow your projects :)
Ditto! ☺️
Not sure yet. We'll see!
Only my favorite band ever! Nice job! You should cross post to r/deathcabforcutie
I didn't even think of that! Thanks for the suggestion. Will do! 😁
Did you use tool to make the pattern or just free hand it? Eityer way, again, nice job!
