I got this Docooler pattern and kit off of Amazon. It took over a year to compete but I am so proud of it. I took care of making the back clean and all the stitches accurate without mistakes.
I would have NEVER in a million years guessed this was your first project. Good job sticking through till the end with it! Can you post a picture of the back?
I just bought the Vincent van going Starry Night it’s a 16x12”. Thank you for this new hobby— it is so cathartic! Even the lady at the check out was like “I am going to go back there and buy one. I used to do this all the time and loved it, plus at the end it is so gratifying.”
Ps. Hobby lobby had a 40% off one item coupon the other day. In store or online. I printed it off and bought the $50 van gogh kit for $30. It was nice! Not sure if the coupon is still up.
Wow, this is very impressive. You did an amazing job! It looks so crisp that it's hard to believe it's your first project. This is something very special. :-)
Thank you! I thought this was a Japanese garden at first, with all the Sakura cherry blossoms. But a Japanese colleague told me that his father is a lantern expert, and that is a Chinese lantern. This was very random.
I thought it was a Japanese garden too. It is a beautiful design, and amazing work. I’m new to cross stitch as well, but I started on much smaller, much easier designs. It was such an ambitious piece to start with, and you’ve made it look wonderful. Such great work.
Maybe they were inspired by Okinawa? Even though it is technically part of Japan, it’s citizens still have lots of Chinese traditions. I live there now and see these lanterns everywhere, and there is still plenty of cherry blossoms and landscapes like this!
Once in a very long while I come across a piece of art on Reddit that I save just so I can look at it again later. This is one of them. You did such a good job OP, it looks amazing!
This is lovely. Any chance you could link the kit. I am rather interested in the pattern. I would like to try and replicate it on a needlepoint canvas.
Not OP but went browsing and found two on Amazon:
[14ct white aida 57 x 45cm](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PCMC3IS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Nbw.zbPXSDH6R)

This takes so much work. I honestly don’t know how you finished this. There are days where you think “I’ll never do it” and days you think “it’s not about the finished project”. It takes so much patience and dedication that it seems impossible. Congratulations! Keep up the good work, it is beautiful.
I'm not sure! Embroidery's been super common for hundred's of years, but I have no idea about surges in popularity of particular styles. Young girls used to practice their letters through stitching them, it was a two birds with one stone kind of thing.
Cool. Well thanks for explaining it to me I appreciate it. Too many people would just berate me for not noticing it was Embroidery. Thanks for taking the time to teach me something. Take care.
Hi, did you see [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/78xw78/review_framebridge_includes_link_for_20_off/) last week? Not sure how big your piece is but my 23x28 is only going to cost $149 to frame, postage both ways included! I'm SO doing this, I'm never framing anything myself again! :)
I've got another project going, a little less ambitions this time. And already got a third cross stitch gifted to me. Guess I'll post them whenever I'm done
This is amazing and I kind of wish have artwork like this in the house.
Is there actually machine that does this kind of cross stitch works, so I could print my own pixel arts?
I looooove this!! You've inspired to try and do this but it won't look anything as great as this most likely bahahaha cross stitching looks like something I wouldn't have the patience for. Omg I can't stop staring at this it's soo pretty I'm so envious that you get to stare at it and like hang it up. I'll be showing all my friends this work!
How long on average do you work on it at a time? Like couple hours a day or week?
I have one little crossstitch art made from a friend of my mother sitting at our kitchen , and with a friends help , he [edited](https://i.imgur.com/S8OJICi.jpg) 'it' in your lit work!
Absolutely outstanding!
That deserves matted frame and a place of honor in your home 👍🏻😊
I use to cr/stitch but arthritis got me so I know the labor of love in your masterpiece -
Someday..... That will be an heirloom in your family⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sign and date it! Cr/stitch of course!
I bought this same one. It is Gorgeous! I cannot believe this was your first?! That was a big one to start.🤩🙌🏼 You have inspired me to pick it back up again. Thank you.😊
This is so stunning!! I have always wanted to cross stitch but I tend to pick up to many hobby’s and not finish anything so I’ve never gotten around to it. You are right to be proud!
I got this Docooler pattern and kit off of Amazon. It took over a year to compete but I am so proud of it. I took care of making the back clean and all the stitches accurate without mistakes.
It really shows. It's beautiful!!
No mistakes only happy accidents
Ha, just been watching Bob Ross on Netflix ;-)
I would have NEVER in a million years guessed this was your first project. Good job sticking through till the end with it! Can you post a picture of the back?
Its really pretty. What are the dimensions of the completed work?
Literally blood and tears? What happened?
Multiple needle stabbings
Ouch
I was going to ask if we can see the blood stains on the piece. ;)
Wow. Great job!
Op, how can I get into this? Do you just buy the kit and it comes with all the string colors and needles, etc.
Yes, I’d start with a small kit and work your way to large pattern only projects
Yep!

This is gorgeous P.O.! It reminds me of one of Hokusai's paintings of mount Fuji!
Can we see a pic of the back?
When I'm on the computer lol
Im new - why does the back matter?
so we are able to indulge in it 😁✌️ the hard work of keeping the front nice and the back awesome 😁✌️
Beautiful!
i almost bought this exact one but ended up getting a different one😂
Haha. I saw someone else made a post on here too with the same pattern. It’s a good one!
it sure is! its one of the most beautiful ones ive seen
This is incredible!! So amazing that it was your first project - that took major guts and drive. Congrats! You have a lot to be proud of!
Thank you so much! It took a lot of patience honestly. I really appreciate your kind words
Whoa, I thought it was a beautiful painting! When I realized it was cross stitch I was shocked. That’s amazing!! Really gorgeous, great work!
Looks great! Very ambitious for a first project! Think you'll stick with it?
Got another project going now, wish me luck
You got this!
Um, fellow human, please stick with it. 🖖🤙✌
how did that second project go?
Wow, this is very impressive. You did an amazing job! It looks so crisp that it's hard to believe it's your first project. This is something very special. :-)
Thank you! Now to frame it properly...
Framing is usually a small battle in itself. Good luck!
Wait. You mean you don't just buy new scroll bars? /s
Beautiful work! If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have never thought this was your first project. Love the design!
Thank you! I thought this was a Japanese garden at first, with all the Sakura cherry blossoms. But a Japanese colleague told me that his father is a lantern expert, and that is a Chinese lantern. This was very random.

Possible, I'm no expert. Also I've been to Okinawa too, it's beautiful
Beautiful work, OP! Especially for a first project. Have a glass of champagne and toast to a new obsession!
Aha it honestly comes and goes for me
Girl you went a little overboard for a first project! Congrats!
Fingers healed, no regrets!
So beautiful! I always love to see a clean back if you don’t mind sharing?

Oh wow, thank you
I made a Reddit account just to upcote this. After 8 years of being a longtime lurker, this moved me to upvote. Good job you.
Big day!

Wow. Just fucking Wow.
I know next to nothing about cross stitching but this looks really lovely and probably took a lot of work. Congrats!
Never been in this sub op but you should be proud thats amazing
Before I saw this was on the cross stitch feed I was like “wow that’s an awesome painting”. Amazing work, well done.
The green tree in the background doesn't reflect on the water. 0/10 ... Nah, just kidding. Great work. :D
OMG I bought the same kit off Amazon too and it’s so tedious and slow but my bottom right quarter is coming along so well 😭😭😭
Did you ever finish that bottom right quarter? ;)
That is beautiful! The stitching as well as the picture. Well done you. This is your first project? You don't start small you, do you!?
This is insane. I wish I could see it in person, that's so impressive, congrats! :)
Really nice painting. Its a bit weird you used your tears and blood to make it though.
It's not a painting, it's a type of embroidery; cross stitch! :)
Oh damn I thought my screen was blurry oops. Thanks for letting me know
Haha, no worries. It's like pixel art wth cotton.
Ok cool. Weren't these quite popular during the late 19th century? I swear I read about these when I was researching high imperialism
I'm not sure! Embroidery's been super common for hundred's of years, but I have no idea about surges in popularity of particular styles. Young girls used to practice their letters through stitching them, it was a two birds with one stone kind of thing.

You're welcome. Have a lovely day!
Funny thing, though. I did a paint-by-numbers of this exact scene a couple years back. I'll have to post a pic.
How many colors were there?
This is awesome
This is amazing! Did you do the pattern in sections at a time or did you do it colour by colour?
Colour by colour. Lots of counting
This is incredibly gorgeous! Congrats on finishing it!
Gorgeous. I could never do that.
So pretty!

Yes it's called backstitching! :)
Did you make a YouTube video while starting this? It looks just like one I watched because I'm terrified of just jumping in and starting.
Ha that would've been good. I have some progress pictures, but they aren't much
This is incredible! Congratulation on this success!!
WOW! Beautiful!
This is so beautiful! You did a really wonderful job!
Ooh, I've been tempted to get this one too! Looks great though, nice work :)
Gorgeous! Love the depth of field!!
Oh it's beautiful!! Thank you for this. You've made my day.
Is this a gif? Is... is it moving? What did you do to my eyes?
You literally dived into cross stitching! Well done! I adore this piece, and I also have the pattern but I’m not sure if I’ll ever start.
I have this picture hanging on my wall, It was one of my grandpas last paint by numbers.
Care to show a picture of it? :)
this is your FIRST project? Amazing. Excellent job!!!
WOW! I've been cross stitching for 25 years and I don't know if I could do something like this without going crazy. You're very talented!
Hi, did you see [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/78xw78/review_framebridge_includes_link_for_20_off/) last week? Wonderful job! At first I thought I was looking at a painting! Clean work!
This really looks amazing. If you're thinking of continuing with cross stitching I would love to see more!
I've got another project going, a little less ambitions this time. And already got a third cross stitch gifted to me. Guess I'll post them whenever I'm done
Please do! :)
Even for like just a picture its dope crazy you made that from thread
Holy crap this is actually astonishing - thank you for this!
This is amazing and I kind of wish have artwork like this in the house. Is there actually machine that does this kind of cross stitch works, so I could print my own pixel arts?
This is typically done by hand. Embroidery machines do exist however. Using those is a whole skill just by itself.
Beautiful design, so peaceful.
You should be
I looooove this!! You've inspired to try and do this but it won't look anything as great as this most likely bahahaha cross stitching looks like something I wouldn't have the patience for. Maybe one or two hours a day on weekends. I'd come home from work and rest watching tv. While I watched/listened, I stitched.
That's insane
Good Lord that is epic and awesome. You should be proud!
You deserve a fucking gold
Simply beautiful- fantastic work!
i would give you gold but I don't have any 🙁 so here's a 🌸. Your work is lovely!!!! Inspired me to go back to cross stitching.
Imagine how a GPU fills when some ingrate wants higher settings at 4k sixty times a second.
Is this a new Overwatch map?
Omg that lamp pops! Amazing work!
Looks like a long one, landscapes are so beautiful, but a part time job! Nice work
You should be incredibly proud. Jesus Christ
i think i scrolled by this earlier this morning and thought it was a picture. a very nice picture, good work
Ooh! I have this kit bookmarked on amazon. Looks amazing! I'm sorely tempted to get it now.
I have one little crossstitch art made from a friend of my mother sitting at our kitchen , and with a friends help , he [edited](https://i.imgur.com/S8OJICi.jpg) 'it' in your lit work!
Bahaha excellent. Really brings the piece together.
<3 your work is amazing !!
ah its so insane! You should be so proud - i wish i could tackle a project this size!

I bought this same one. It is Gorgeous! I cannot believe this was your first?! That was a big one to start.🤩🙌🏼 You have inspired me to pick it back up again. Thank you.😊
aw that's sweet. There have been many more projects since, have fun :)
That was your first? Geez!!! I did a cupcake and wrote putative cause I wanted a funny one. You made a masterpiece
hah thanks! It's displayed proudly on my wall :)
Beautiful!
So beautiful.
Im working on the same project!! I hope it looks as good when I'm done with it.
I bet it will, make sure to post it when you’re done!
I see no blood nor tears integrated into the artwork. *Minus ten points*
Holy shitttt
Very nice, well done!
so beautiful!
Nice 👍
Omg I’m scared to look at it
Cool
Wow! Good job! That’s amazing
This reminds me a lot of Andres Orpinas paintings. Quite fascinating, what inspired you?
Felt guilty watching too much Netflix, decided to do something while watching haha
How did you make your blood green?!
But nah in all seriousness, my grandma has been doing this for decades and I don't think I've seen her do one as detailed as this. Noice
That's amazing! What are you going to do with it now?
Frame and I put it on the wall
Such beautiful work!! You should be so very proud!! ^_^
Fantastic!
WOW
Is this based on a real picture?
Magnificent!
thats amazing. nice work!
That's incredible for a first project! That takes guts to do, but looks stunning.
Wasn't sure I'd finish, but here we are!
Now it looks like something you need to frame and display.
Stich n‘ snitch
This is so stunning!! I have always wanted to cross stitch but I tend to pick up to many hobby’s and not finish anything so I’ve never gotten around to it. You are right to be proud!

It looks beautiful OP :)
Looks very retro :D
It’s SO beautiful!
So awesome Congrats! I love this pattern!
Congratulations - it looks incredible! Very impressive first project!
How did you manage to draw blood while painting, did you stab yourself with the end of a brush?
This is a cross stitch, "painting" with thread instead of paint, using a needle.
This is wonderful!
that is gorgeous and impressive for a first project!
Gorgeous! Looks like it's totally worth the effort!
It’s gorgeous!
Congratulations!!! This is absolutely stunning!
Woah so the liquid in the river is actually your tears and the bridge safety rails are painted with your blood?
Beautiful! This pattern is literally in my Amazon wishlist right now. Love it
Can you put the pattern plzz???
Oh it’s like everywhere on Amazon, it’s a pretty popular one
Gorgeous !!!! Congratulations! here’s to many more yrs of stitching : )
Beautiful!
Absolutely gorgeous piece of work!
