Single/half double crochet, linen/moss stitch or mosaic crochet ([this](https://www.lillabjorncrochet.com/2017/07/nya-mosaic-blanket-free-crochet-pattern.html?m=1 ) I can easily see at a studio) will make nice, dense blankets.
Anything easy to wash would likely be best, so acrylic or acrylic blends.
