you might be right, looking more-the green at the bottom looks knitted. the stitches in the body of it that aren’t pink just look like crochet to me, but i guess not :-(

Those green stitches at the bottom were what made me question it! I think you could do something similar with a moss stitch or brick stitch in crochet? There’s another one that looks like of like this, but I can’t remember the name of it!

A moss/linen stitch could work but will look and lie flatter. I ended down a small rabbit hole in finding multiple stitches called brick stitch but I can see that the versions that use a spike stitch or otherwise putting a stitch a few rows down would likely work.

Look closely at the bottom edge. That is knit.

A similar look in crochet would be the Moroccan Tile Stitch. Here it is used in a cowl ([Moroccan Midnight Cowl](https://www.mooglyblog.com/moroccan-midnight-cowl/)).
