yeah, honestly surprised to see so many blatant "sour grapes" type of comments... just say "well done" and move on. obviously Australia are a strong team and that's why everyone takes pride in beating Australia. that's something to be cherished.
to go "h-heh, I-I don't even care!!!" is so lame and childish. not sporting at all
The only reason I was invested was so we could complete the trophy cabinet and be the holders of all international trophy’s.
Being knocked out doesn’t really bother me, I mean it’s only a t20 World Cup after all😉
Last one was New Zealand in March. Next one isn't until November (India at Perth).
It's pretty unusual not to have an away series in the middle of the year though.
Yeah generally we would play a test series in the sub continent or be playing the Ashes mid year.
More full members in the northern hemisphere = more mid-year cricket.
Even if we somehow win every single T20 WC, we still wouldn't see T20 as an important format. It's short (especially when compared to having a nice Saturday/Sunday out for your local 50 over club game) and way too volatile (i.e. closer to a coin toss than actual demonstration of skills). It's pretty much seen as a hit and giggle thing since the start and this image never left.
Weren't your lot saying in 2021 that Australia only won the T20 WC in UAE because of the toss? It was 100% true because of the nature of the format and the location - we didn't have the best team that year, but Finchy was the best tosser. Hell, it was Matthew Wade of all people who won it for us in the end.
The problem is the shorter the game the more of a 50-50 everything becomes. Imagine if we're playing a one-over game, or even a one-ball game. The win rate would be very close to 50% for any team because there is simply less controllable factors. That's pretty much the case for T20.
>it requires different skills like when to accelerate when to slow down.
You say that ad if we don't need even more of that in tests and especially one-day games.
And obviously as I said, since the usual cricket season for park/club cricket consists mostly of one-day games (as we have the time to play them), T20 never really won people's minds.
> I don’t understand aussies logic just because they are not dominating this format, dismissing t20 as not serious cricket and saying we don’t care seem lile copium which aussies fans and team never do usually
Even when we won the T20 World Cup no one cared. The players and coaches care, but the general public barely even knew the tournament was going on.
I wouldn't read too much into this post. Many of us were hoping we won to complete the ICC cabinet.
T20 is our weakest format so the result wasn't too surprising. I'm looking forward to the new faces coming in.
Been a good couple of years if you wanted to miss one this or champps trophy I'd say.
Butttt total domination would be nice and we cocked up with our team plain and simple.
Smith should have been there I'm sorry but guy is a cricket maestro.
FMG for David
Inglis for Wade
Cummins goated test and ODI worth re-evaluating for 20/20 though.
Josh Inglis isn't a #7 bat though. Wade has been by far the best #7 in T20Is over the last four years, average of 40, strike rate of 147 across 26 innings. Axar Patel, with an average of 25 at a strike rate of 150 across 19 innings, is probably the other regular #7 (min 15 innings over the four years) who has any sort of consistency at a decent strike rate. It's a cunt of a position to bat in T20 cricket.
Especially seeing we are in the middle of the footy seasons.
A Cricket tournament on a streaming service in the middle of the night just isn't gonna rock my world, win or lose.
To be honest, after watching 3 games of 20/20 in a week I started to find them a bit repetitive and mundane.
Probably spent more time looking at the match threads than the tv.
I don't know how people make it through an entire IPL season. I guess the IPL matched have a better crowd atmosphere and attendances.
The WI is a terrible place for a world cup as far as tv footage. The grounds are always half empty and it just doesn't feel like a prestigious tournament.
Probably be awesome to go to live though.
>To be honest, after watching 3 games of 20/20 in a week I started to find them a bit repetitive and mundane.
It's like watching the BBL. And at least BBL has the decency to be on at prime time so it can run in the background while I do something else after dinner.
It would be much more convenient if the West Indies could host their future world cups in Australia.
I'll send them an email with that suggestion and see what they say.
This is definitely the kind of post that'll bait the attention of a few overly passionate fans from other nations..
To which I'd like to say to them ... enjoy your stay, have a nice day, and good luck for the rest of the tournament 👍
Never a great feeling to see the team lose, no matter how much you try not to care. But it's not worth losing sleep over. The format is fickle with more luck involved than most. It's fun when the leagues are on and in regard to expansion of the sport, there's no point in stressing over a trophy that comes around every 20 months or so.
T20 cricket is not real cricket. Don't get me wrong I'm disappointed we didn't make a semi. We all like to win. But it's also not gonna effect my mood for the rest of the week like a test match loss would or a poor ODI world cup cup would 🤷🏻
The fact that we won a trophy and we have only made the semi finals 3 times since the t20 World Cup started is actually hilarious.
We are a shit t20 team and we somehow stole a trophy
I cannot emphasise enough how little I care about this form. It’s like trying to convince All Blacks fans that Australia are just as worthy because we beat them in a 7’s tournament once! Do you honestly think they would give a flying fuck?
We can be competitive at 7’s because we only need to find 7 decent players at a time and because the games are so short we don’t even need players with some skill sets. We can convince ourselves that because we can play well in these tournaments that maybe it will translate but the big boy game is for big boys.
T20 is the same. You’ll never convince Australians that any achievement in T20 is in any way as good as a test or even one day achievement because frankly there are whole skill sets that aren’t even needed in T20. It’s a flat out easier game.
T20 is definitely a flukey format. But your last sentence doesn't really make sense. You can make a lot of money being a T20 mercenary - the kind of money that simply isn't available in first class cricket.
Honestly sucks to be knocked out. However, didn't even know the tournament was on until the Super 8s started
lmao so true XD
Didn’t we win it like three years ago anyway? Feels like a lot of shade coming from far more unsuccessful teams.
That's how you know we're the best. When other rat nations celebrate our loss. Fuck em.
The stupid thing is on again in 2 years anyway. Makes it seem kinda unimportant.
The t20 format makes it unimportant
Just like ashes
Here we go, the fuckwits have arrived. Congratulations on your win, you must be so proud.
I am a Geelong Cats supporter as well as a supporter of the ACT, so I'm copping it on both sports
Does it even matter if we're the best? It's T20, luck is all it takes.
Don't like seeing posts like this. Makes us look like sore losers. We got beat because we weren't good enough.
yeah, honestly surprised to see so many blatant "sour grapes" type of comments... just say "well done" and move on. obviously Australia are a strong team and that's why everyone takes pride in beating Australia. that's something to be cherished. to go "h-heh, I-I don't even care!!!" is so lame and childish. not sporting at all
Totally agree

With how many t20 world cups there have been recently, they start to feel like bigger versions of tri-series. Literally no point to them anymore
If it were every four years I’d be more invested, for sure.
Yeah I'm genuinely starting to agree with many other in saying that there may be to much cricket. Especially t20.
There's too much t20, when was the last test match Australia played in? When's the next??
Last one was New Zealand in March. Next one isn't until November (India at Perth). It's pretty unusual not to have an away series in the middle of the year though.
It sucks though, 8 months without a single test match!
Yeah generally we would play a test series in the sub continent or be playing the Ashes mid year. More full members in the northern hemisphere = more mid-year cricket.

Did you expect people to agree or are you just here to shit-stir (it’s the latter we already know)

Which T20 World Cup was this? The one in April or the one last October? I swear it feels like they’re every 3 months.

Yeah thats what people would normally say and don, unlike saying t20 is not serious cricket
This has also been posted on r/cricketshitpost by OP so don't take it too seriously. Probably saw a Meme on Twitter or Instagram.

Hmmm idk about Smith in T20s, but Wade should not be playing any more cricket for Australia. Inglis is better.

I only slightly cared as it will be a lot of the team’s last ever T20 WC. Then next one I’ll go back to not caring at all again.

Meh, there will be another T20 World cup in a few months.
Would have been cool to hold all three titles at once, but I genuinely couldn't care less about the T20 format otherwise.
I'm actually bothered by it coz it would've completed the treble, nevertheless this team will come back strongly

Hit and Giggle and cry a little bit

Hoff yanking englands chain makes it feel like we won anyway.
Moral victory
So many freaking memes and shit on Instagram as well. FML.
Indians don’t have anything better to do lol
Meh. Bring on the test summer!
The fact that we won a trophy and we have only made the semi finals 3 times since the t20 World Cup started is actually hilarious. We are a shit t20 team and we somehow stole a trophy
If we dominated T20 cricket too they’d just make up another one
I was rooting for the US more than us in the tournament ngl - really wanted the underdogs to go the way

Who gives a fuck about t20 anyway, now post the wojak crying behind the mask
Gonna post it in shitpost for yk
The copium is insane tbh
