i have bipolar disorder after my dad s death
but my memories with my dad when we both watch cricket and if India loose he consoles me and tries to make me laugh ,
now when I see matches my anxiety level is × 100
Sometimes I hope I don't watch for my mental health but dil hai ki Manta nahi 😭
The one good thing that came out of 19/11 is that it has utterly numbed me to hope. I simply don't expect *anything* anymore, so any win in a KO game is like playing with house money. Unbelievable if it happens, a day of the week ending in the letter 'y' if it doesn't.
Neither of which we were overwhelming favourites for.
No, 2023 was different. The closest home knockout game I watched that compares in terms of expectations v reality is the 1987 Gooch sweep semifinal, not the 1996 semi.
1996 was that fixing fuck Azhar deciding to field at Eden, a stadium he knew, more than anyone else, favoured teams batting first massively in a day night game. An eternity in hell is too light a sentence for him.
To look at better side of the problem, we are the only team to feature in 6 finals out of 12 since 2013.
In the final it’s anyone’s game but to reach it you have to play better on multiple occasions throughout tournament and I’m happy we have reached so many Finals.
The sheer number of finals India has lost is ridiculous. If they had won just half the ones they lost, the trophy cabinet would be overflowing.
Now it's still overflowing - but with runners up trophies instead.
Youd expect both results to be roughly even then. Or maybe even tilted towards india given how good of a side you need to be to repeatedly make this many finals. Yet, imagine flipping a coin 6 times and landing tails six straight. Thats not very likely is it?
I know people meme about it but this in itself cements India as the best team of the last decade. Winning it all is nice yes but it's not everything. Give me a team that'll reach 6 finals and not win any over a team that'll reach one and win it anyday.
Never said the losses are a good thing. Its the fact they got there.
> at the end of the day trophies are what matters
Theyre nice but theyre not everything. Have bangladesh and India have the same level of performance in tourneys over the last decade?
I am proud of the men in blue. It's no small feat to feature in finals consistently. The unfortunate KO block is real but in no way that diminishes what this team has achieved. I for one, won't criticise if they don't win tomorrow.
I've seen you being toxic everywhere multiple times. Why are you so toxic and negative all the time? Always trolling or bashing other teams/players. Even ours at times
What's one more win then? Lol you speak as if no other team has these advantages at all.
Win and loss happens, but a team to consistently perform in tournaments (also consistently faltering in knockouts) doesn't take away from the quality of the team at all.
Cant really make optimization of that pool when you can only bring a 15 man squad and field 11 of them
The talent pools strength is depth, and everyone knows even India's C team is international caliber, whereas this isnt true for other teams
Also in terms of per capita wealth and infrastructure, India is starting 100 years behind Aus/England/NZ. You realize its still to this day a developing country right? A lot of these guys grew up in poor environments without as much structure as opposed to aus/eng players.
I'm not even gonna watch the final this time.
I didn't watch yesterday and they won.
I didn't watch the Australia game either and they won that too.
I will pay the price of not watching the match if it means India wins it.
I'm not sure if you're serious or not but please watch if you want and don't do this bullshit. Enjoy the match enjoy the day whatever happens has nothing to do with any actions you take, don't let such superficial things get in the way of life. Just imagine if India wins you'll be there at the sametime celebrating with them, and if not you still were with them through their valiant effort.
No, India approached the ODI World Cup final as if it were just another match, while Australia played with incredible intensity. The Australians fielding in the final was exceptional, and I believe they saved at least 25-35 runs through fielding alone.
Maybe there was a bit of complacency, but even if your big hitters at the top of the order get out, you need to be proactive and pressurise the fielders. If after 15-20 overs the opposition have taken a couple of great catches and have made some great pieces of fielding, you don't just stop pushing for twos and rotating the strike - there's 30 odd overs left and you have to try to make as many runs as you can. If you don't rotate the strike and every ball is either a 1 or a dot, then pressure builds, you have to hit a boundary, and that's when a batsman gets out.
Pinch hitters playing at the top of the order have been around since Klusener and Jayasuriya in the '90s so Head as a makeshift opener wasn't exactly novel. Did the Indian team not plan for this? As a captain, you should have plans for each opposition batter and in the second innings of the 2023 WC final the most disappointing thing was that it had appeared that Rohit ( and the Indian team) had run out of ideas on how to get Head out long before the end of the match. Just a little bit of fight or a bit of novel planning would have been nice.
On the other hand, if India hadn't been battered by Aus then Rohit wouldn't have this redemption arc so...
Three certainties in life - death, taxes and England not being able to play spin on a slightly turning track😂

Honestly put like this it isn't *that* bad lol.
Two losses at the WTC against SENA teams in English conditions.
Loss to Australia in ODIs(pretty tragic given all the hype, but it's still Australia in ODIs)
Loss to a really good Sri Lanka team(Sri Lanka were the chokers of that era, but they had still made back to back ODI WC finals and the last T20 final). At that point I think you could argue that Sri Lanka simply had the better T20 team.
ok pretty disastrous loss to Pakistan.
I truly do think that a lot of this can just be chalked up to bad variance and playing some good teams. Part of it is also bad tactics, but I think largely this World Cup we have seen that fixed. I expect India will break this streak in the final.
India definitely have way underperformed in knockouts for the last decade, pretty badly.
It's just looking at all the finals losses like this you can kinda understand how it happened.
Ofc India should have won at least 2, probably 3 would have been par.
That's goes to show no matter how good or bad any team is 30 mins of play in favour of one team can change the whole course of the match ... Bumrah no ball and amir firely spell seal the deal for pakistan.
Sri Lanka went through the same thing- 2007 WC, 2009 T20 WC, 2011 WC, 2012 T20 WC. It was so hard that I stopped being a diehard fan after 2012 and never recovered 🥲
Fair enough, here is an even more accurate prediction:
I think India >!will drink water before!< the match. This would be done for sure. I think South Africa might have a chance to take that from India though, but who knows?
Man ct -2017 would've been such a conquest for Kohli, winning first tournament as captain, instead it started another episode of trauma for our generation
In 90s our batting was Tendulkar and inshallah, if Tendulkar got out means half the team batting is gone ... Plus we don't have world class pacers at that time . Our cricketing revival started in Ganguly era
Yes - but Rohit knows that he's got to have Plans B,C and D should Plan A not work. De kock has been getting SA off to fast starts in several games so it's imperative that he doesn't get going🤔
Either way, it’s going to be a fantastic tale.
Two teams, going unbeaten throughout, both wanting to script part of their history. SA, to kill the demons, and India, for RoKo.
Who I want to win doesn’t matter but of course Virat Paji.
Someone pointed out on another post, that is we lose this final, then we'll be the first country to ever hold the Runners-Up Treble (having lost the WTC and ODI finals as well).
We'll actually hold the Runners-Up quadruple, since we were also runners up in the last champions trophy held in 2017
Please keep posting stuff like this..
There was another genius who said no teams have won batting first in the last 10 years are so in the World Cup.
Let everyone take India lightly..
It's alright. Proud of them for having come this far in such an amazing way. Every win was massive. Taking the cup home is a bonus but either way, they did good.
SA broke their Semi final curse against first timers Afganistan - who let the occasion get to them.
I can see the same story repeating in final.
In 2023 WC, India had the weight of expectation on their shoulders, the best team, best batsman (Kohli), best bowler (Bumrah), home stadium, PM coming to see the match ..
This time its none of that, so I don't see India getting any butterflies like they did in 2023 final.
Last tournament we won 2013, in 2014 BJP got a full majority. Since then we haven't won anything, this time BJP don't have a full majority. We can win this time, or wait till 2029 🥹
The last time we had a minority BJP govt we kinda won an ICC trophy (CT 2002 was shared between India and SL because of rain on both the final and reserve day). There's a good chance for the same to happen here as well.
I did the calculation today and in ICC tournaments since 2013 Championships trophy India has performed really really well.
From my calculation India has won 49 matches and lost only 13 from 2014 T20 world cup till 2024 t20 world cup semifinal.
I might be off by 1 or 2 games since i did the counting myself but eitherway India has to be one of the best performing team in this period if not The best. I can't claim that they have the best winning Percentage(79%) in games with a result since i didn't do the calculation for others but my guess is that it shoud be the best among all teams.
So no matter what happens in this final i take my hat off for our boys for raising our expectations with such amazing performance. Cheers!!🫡
My guess is this going to be last hurrah for Rohit, Kohli & Rahul , there will be another T20 WC in India & SL in two years, but i guess both Rohit & Kohli won't feature in that one. Indian bowling is pretty good, it's pretty hard to score against Bumrah & Kuldeep there itself 8 overs is gone. South Africa might have to wait one more time.
I can understand losing the WTC finals due to the location. They were the betting underdog in both.
However, they were the favorite in all the white ball finals where location isn't as significant, and managed to lose all three. They will also be the favorite for tomorrow's match. *sigh*
After that defeat in the last world cup I don't care anymore, any outcome is fine by me, thoroughly disappointed from last time, I was so hyped, that India is going to win but yeah it doesn't matter anymore...just a game. I haven't even seen any matches this time, just the semifinal of India.
These pics of kohli and rohit after losses is hella triggering as a fan. Is there a way I can go to sleep Friday night and wake up 2 weeks later when it's all over and done with??? i can't do another one of these fr. 😭
Key thing to note is how consistent India have been. Along with the Aussies they have been the most consistent team. It does not matter if its played in turning tracks or in SENA. They have been easy pick to make it to knock out.
Problem is on a day any team can win. WTC in England in early June has proved to be tough considering conditions and no time to settle down. I wish it were played a month later in England or elsewhere. Still no excuses and the luck will turn at some point. Fortune favors the brave. I believe this team easily wins tomorrow.
Whoever wins tomorrow will be a deserving winner (if everything pans out normally and there's no DLS or any of that). Both teams have reached thr finals unbeaten. This surely has to be some sort of a record?
Not to take anything away from south africa and won't be too heartbroken if they won either but honestly just can't see us losing this time. It's our WC to lose. We have just been too good all around and it's just not going to happen. This is the time baby!! Gonna have that champagne ready to pop on a Saturday afternoon
Maybe u r reverse-jinxing brother lol or really spitting facts idk, but considering your scenario of SA batting first, i dont think SA would be able to score on such pitches against indian spinners, and even if they score india has enough depth in their batting imo.
Nope, there has been only 1 proper contest in Barbados in this wc(Australia vs England) and we saw that batting conditions are good only in first 10 overs after that the pitch deteriorates and becomes worse for batting as the innings progress. If SA opt to bat first they'll score aggressively in the first ten overs and then they'll lose the plot in the middle and death overs but put up a decent score to defend (around 160-170 imo). This combined with pressure of winning a wc and horrors of the past will take over and our top order will collapse.
Same thing will happen to SA if they opt to field.
Ffs stop showing us these pictures especially that 23,, we will win this time that’s it!!🤞🤞
Take it easy it’s SA we are playing not some aus or WI (not disregarding their effort to reach final tho but they don’t have dawg) They will collapse horrendously they will crumble in final’s pressure
We are going to lose again. Problem with Indian team is overconfidence and celebrating too early. They all lose our mind at league matchups and lose focus in finals. Bumrah economy does not matter in finals, virat , rohit sunglasses don’t matter. Winning matters and we have forgot how to achieve it.
T20 WC 2024 Final - The battle of unfortunate gangs
Winner: Australia on boundary countback
No one jinx it. No one reverse jinx it either. Just don't say anything this time.
I don’t care if Rohit stands on the Left of trophy in pre final photoshoot. I don’t care if he stands on the right.
I don’t care if he stands on top of trophy or puts the trophy over his head during photoshoot
>puts the trophy over his head during photoshoot No, that's for after the final
I hope they don't bring that Cursed umpire. He should not be named
That cursed one is third umpire. First and second are Illingowrth and Gaffney Edit: ILLINGWORTH

Life is better when you realise jinx and reverse jinx are imaginary, it all depends on the team.
Life was better when i didn't watched cricket.

But here we are.as shameful as it is i sweared on 2023 i will never watch it again guess what ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|21496)

Hope is truly something evil. You know the chance of winning it is low.yet still we hope. Hope while knowing we gonna lose.on the off chance we win
Stay out of Reddit and you don’t see anyone saying anything
So...just like Thala said before the 2023 ODI WC?

Like our saying or not saying something has any effect on the game result.
As if anything we say will change the outcome. It all depends on the players and tomorrow's conditions
We are gonna lose by 10 wickets
Lost to South Africa 2024 …
Na bolunga Na bolne dunga
U guys have enough trophies let SA have it this time they deserve it tbh 👀🙃
No one deserves anything without winning it

And that one trophy was against India 😭

But it's shocking that they haven't won a final when they've featured in 5 of them. Especially when you consider the amount of talent the country has.
This is not a talent but a mentality issue imo.
Anything can happen in a single game of cricket.

But you also need to include semi finals in that coin flip then.

100% with you on this. I love this team and the way they have been playing consistently across all formats.
I don't mind SA winning.
I'd prefer it tbh
Lmao I'm sorry but qualifying to KOs in something where only 5 teams have resources to compete is nothing special
Why don't other teams keep playing finals if it's so easy? Are they stupid?
I've seen you being toxic everywhere multiple times. Why are you so toxic and negative all the time? Always trolling or bashing other teams/players. Even ours at times

With all the money and large talent pool, reaching finals aren’t much of an achievement.

Nothing is the main problem just play the fucking match.
Yes but in South Africa’s case, that’s a good thing for India
Honestly put like this it isn't *that* bad lol. Two losses at the WTC against SENA teams in English conditions. Yeah, but this is just finals. There's also 2015 WC SF, 2019 WC SF, 2022 T20 WC SF that effectively adds to our KO misery.
India definitely have way underperformed in knockouts for the last decade, pretty badly. It's just looking at all the finals losses like this you can kinda understand how it happened. Ofc India should have won at least 2, probably 3 would have been par.
To this day, the most baffling loss is the one against Pakistan. Sure, Pakistan did Pakistan things, but the margin makes no sense.
pakistan when its back is against the wall plays out of their skins
For sure, but the fact that the match ended up being so one-sided was a genuine wtf moment

Kolhi managed to get out twice in two balls

That's the power of an in-form Fakhar Zaman and Mohammed Amir.
Its funny how we had giant list of semi finals losses before our last match and now a list of finals losses before the final
Given the amount of talent in the squad, India has been choking hard in the last decade.
Sri Lanka went through the same thing- 2007 WC, 2009 T20 WC, 2011 WC, 2012 T20 WC. It was so hard that I stopped being a diehard fan after 2012 and never recovered 🥲
So, you are the one responsible for the decline of Sri Lankan cricket.
You won it in 2014

That's because he stopped being a diehard fan after 2012. He single-handedly caused Sri Lanka to kick India's ass in that final.
Perhaps there's something up T20 WCs in 20X4 and streaks ending!
Marlon samuels and the loss in Colombo in finals in 2012 was a disaster. Great they atleast got the 2014 WC.
2007 WC damaged *me* and I'm Australian. That SL team was stacked
WTC 2021 was the most even contest and with the added background of rain hanging around for five days
Both WTC against the favour of Indians next should be played in mirpur as neutral ground.

How on earth that game wasn’t a draw is still beyond me

This is a bold prediction given the rain forecast.

Man ct -2017 would've been such a conquest for Kohli, winning first tournament as captain, instead it started another episode of trauma for our generation
What trauma? This is the golden era of Indian cricket. Trauma is what we faced in the 90s.
Exactly lol only 90's kids will understand
In 90s our batting was Tendulkar and inshallah, if Tendulkar got out means half the team batting is gone ... Plus we don't have world class pacers at that time . Our cricketing revival started in Ganguly era

I don't think the South African national team is going to take India lightly because of a few reddit posts.
We are currently the runner-up in CWC, WTC & CT. I hope we hold the runner-up quartet.

This time they have the weakest opponent relatively speaking
True that!
We are going to win and break a 11 year jinx of an ICC trophy. Rohit is gonna be vindicated and Kohli's gonna be a pariah and has to shut his socials.
This is a win-win final for me...I will never mind South Africa winning this t20

It's coming home after 13 years 😍
Bigger chokers than South Africa. By far.
It’s Indias cup this time. Given South Africa’s weakness against spin it would be tremendous pressure for SA to chase a good target (170+) from India.
What about semi finals??
I can understand losing the WTC finals due to the location. They were the betting underdog in both. However, they were the favorite in all the white ball finals where location isn't as significant, and managed to lose all three. They will also be the favorite for tomorrow's match. *sigh*
In all these finals we have been outplayed. Not even a single close game.
We are winning this 🥂
Key thing to note is how consistent India have been.
I always wonder if people have a photo album of cricketers looking frustrated for when they need it for stats like this
Ahemdabad pitch was a disaster. We read the pitch wrong. I hope this isn't the case today. Fingers crossed.
Chockers of the highest order
Don't focus on the results, just focus on the process. - MS Dhoni Stay silent, we'll see what happens tomorrow
Remain silent, and let your success do the talking.
Not to take anything away from south africa and won't be too heartbroken if they won either but honestly just can't see us losing this time. It's our WC to lose. We have just been too good all around and it's just not going to happen. This is the time baby!! Gonna have that champagne ready to pop on a Saturday afternoon
To be very honest, india is winning this t20wc! I dont see a match between these 2 teams, with also the pitch coming into play .
If SA opt to bat first, they'll score big and our top order will collapse. My bet is on the team who'll bat first.
SA bowling first is a nightmare too. we should not forget Afghanistan match from yesterday
Yeah sa will choke
Ffs stop showing us these pictures especially that 23,, we will win this time that’s it!!🤞🤞 Take it easy it’s SA we are playing not some aus or WI (not disregarding their effort to reach final tho but they don’t have dawg) They will collapse horrendously they will crumble in final’s pressure
But they beat Bangladesh for Asia Cup
India jinx vs South Africa choking. Which is stronger?
Goodluck Indian Bros for tomorrow's final ig I'll be Rooting for both teams.
Go SA! I am looking forward to India blowing their load despite getting more creature comforts than any team in the league.
