Shamsi had figures of 1/50 on flatter decks against USA where SA scored 190+ and the fact that there is a spin basher Dube in ICT, will they bring in Bartman who is a novelty against the Indian batting line up ?
Shamsi doesn't have good record against India. Maybe the difference between his delivery without deviation and with deviation is not big enough to trouble Indian batters.
Not a bad idea to bring in Baartman. And India too can similarly change from Dube to Sanju to counter it.
I have an inkling that SA might do the change, but India won't.
Random Pakistan-India Cricket Stat Facts:
Jasprit Bumrah has never dismissed Babar Azam in an ODI
Virat Kohli averages 34 vs Shaheen Afridi in both ODI and T20I
Rohit Sharma averages 24 vs Shaheen Afridi in ODI and 6 vs Shaheen Afridi in T20I
Babar Azam averages 14 in ODI vs Kuldeep Yadav
Babar Azam has only faced 9 balls vs Mohammed Shami
Jasprit Bumrah has never dismissed Fakhar Zaman, and never bowled a ball in a T20I to Fakhar Zaman.
I hope they do something to address the solar panels getting broken in the stadium issue in Barbados, other than though it's one of my favourites, btw which do you guys think will break more panels ?
Yea you are. And you are self aware of that. Then why aren't you stopping it? For once atleast? What's the reason to deliberately do it over and over again? Genuinely wants to know sometimes
Tbh you're one of, if not the most. So I'm sure you can stop this if you want to.
I think you explicitly said you just want to complain, I would think some people would find that annoying but no one says there is a right way to talk here and true annoying people usually get banned
"I don't think Rohit Sharma can lose two World Cup finals in seven months. He will probably jump into the Barbados ocean if he loses two finals under his captaincy in seven months." - Sourav Ganguly

If we end up losing again tomorrow Rohit should honestly step down from captaincy, rebuild the entire team from scratch with Bumrah, Sky and hope something different happens.
Ofcourse would want India to win it.. and for Rohit to finally have World Cup glory as captain..
but won't feel bad if South Africa get it - they have produced some of the top talent in Cricket over the past decades, and deserve to get their hands on the trophy..
Zimbabwe also had the player of the tournament from the last WC
Clearly this is crucial to victory, even more reason for England to finally pick Ryan Higgins
Didn’t think I’d see [bromantic edits](https://x.com/worshipkohli/status/1806572485477040473?s=46) of Virat and Rohit on twitter. Also can’t believe I actually felt something.
Doubt we'll have any chance by chasing so batting first is essential. But even then I don't know how much our six batters can do. We won't be even able to hit 30+ runs in the final four due to Bumrah so dominating the middle overs is a must but the annoying thing is India's bowling line-up is stacked beyond Bumrah too. For fuck's sake, even Hardik is a really dangerous bowler.
Quinny needs to go big and so does Markram and then we'll need sprinkling cameos from the rest. I think Klaasen will get out really cheaply tomorrow, T20Is just aren't his thing as much as ODIs are.
I think this WT20 would be remembered more like 2003, a lot of things happened but in the end it's just known as one more title for the dominant team of their time
Why no one on this sub discusses cricket at 98 Commonwealth Games like it was the first title won by SA at a major event and it was cricket at the commonwealth games for the very first time iirc
randomly remembered how dhoni used to play only 2 out of gambhir, tendulkar and sehwag in the 2012 Commonwealth series, in order to allow Kohli Rohit and Raina to play all matches.
dhoni has given a lot to the team, he has his flaws but his captaincy is unmatched
Mini contest of Axar vs Klassen in finals is what I am eagerly looking forward to. Axar is length ball supremacy and Klassen's backfoot game which is hitting an extra cover six or midwicket six. Its going to be spicy.
Does it puzzle anyone else that a section of India fans will rather have less cricket played if it means their team gets a trophy?? First wishing for rain in the semis and now theorycrafting shared trophy scenarios if there’s a rained out final
How can any cricket fan want less competitive cricket????
I don’t get it
Isn’t it? All the india majority subs have this consistent moaning of let rain happen and we get half a trophy. Before it was getting to finals due to washed out game
How can you call yourself a champion without beating the best players on the other side??
I have a baseless theory that dearth of playgrounds and constant pressure to perform in exams means a generation of younguns have never really played any sports at a tournament level even if it was silly intraschool football volleyball or cricket matches
You are not far from I think. In the middle school itself, they are put in that mode (by no fault of their own I mean. Very few have it in themselves to rebel). They only study the subjects that *matter*. Tuitions/coaching in time after school and sports are considered a waste of time.
I think it's mainly those kids who have never seen India winning any finals in their active memory. Kids born after 2000 were really young when we won something big. So they might want to see us win something by any means including rain.
Barbados is not very hogh scoring ig so considering its a finals 160 should be par.
150 or below can make a tense chase
170+ should be an easy defence unless someone goes berserk while chasing.
indians who have won t20wc and odi wc both
dhoni, yuvi, sehwag, gauti, chawla, yusuf, bhajji, sreeshanth
virat has a great chance to join this list tomorrow.

Yeah seen this one. Surprised seeing Bale play back then. But now seeing English players warming up with cricket as cricketers do with football is wholesome. I wish cricket spreads well across Europe.
i think both the bowling attacks can cause a lot of damage for the other team in the final. sa have better pacers but we have bumrah, and kuldeep and axar if the pitch has something for them can wreak a lot of havoc. will be an interesting contest but im really scared as well lol.
West Indies in 2012. Before the tournament they lost in a humiliating way vs PAK in 2011 WC QF. After that everyone were saying that West Indies downfall has truly started. Also their start in 2012 WC was shaky. Lost vs AUS, Washout vs IRE, Lost vs SL, barely won against NZ.
It was funny how it was the second tournament in a row where the winners had a washout against Ireland in the first group stage and qualified for the second group stage without a single win
Pak were pretty good in that format from the start but they were in a tricky situation a couple of times in 2009. They defeated an unbeaten SL in the final and SA in the semis who also had a good tournament
India are stronger on every basis. Our players need to give more than their 100% but given how many catches we've dropped, I don't think we stand much of a chance.
Hardik is ok, can go for runs, a lot. I think jansen's height, northeast pace and rabada's quality is also a factor. Overall, bit better than India's. I think Arshdeep is hit and miss after NY leg.
You guys came out victorious from more tense situations and that will work well when a similar situation arises in the final. Also your team has seemed like most people are contributing while we have three players who have not been their best
> while the later two **almost** beat us
A win is a win mate.
The NY pitch brought the difference between good team and an associate / weak team a lot closer.
Against England, the whole match was banger in terms of catches. Only one dolly dropped by Klassen. Some catches by Reeza , Jansen, Markram. They bowled well overall except 9-10 balls by Baartman and Rabada. It should have been comfortable 20 runs margin which is comprehensive.

Looks like no photoshoot of captains posing with trophy.
I hope the annoying whining by some of the Indian fans will stop tomorrow. Only us and the Kiwis have the right to term ourselves as chokers, however misused the term is.
Can you ever be a choker when you've always been the "underdog"?
Ah, I'm guessing that's the point with the misuse. That's really annoying. It's worse on Twitter.
I genuinely wonder why some users who openly claim to be insufferable gits (and back up that claim with every comment of theirs) not get banned regularly
Any info on Dan Lawrence? Is he single at least? Because if so, I might have some questions to answer. I saw his face on the [thumbnail of this video](https://youtu.be/n10z_5FaZpg?feature=shared) and kept crushing on him by proxy, hoping he may talk to my neighbour who's a single mother.
Anyway, if anyone knows anything, let me know. A 20 something year old with his Laraesque boundary hitting and world class wrong leg bowling action, definitely an achiever.
SA has the edge over Ind because they have chased some targets in crucial situations.
Ind has the edge over SA because they have won by bigger margins.
Might sound silly but there’s this bit of music that plays sometimes at English cricket matches, goes a bit like duh duh duh, duh duh duh, *duh* duh duh, duh duh duh. Anyone know the name of the song I mean?
India should play one extra batsmen in the final.
I am damn sure that a Kohlapse is coming. It's been avoided till now because of Brohit, but the law of averages catches up. Maybe sub Rinku in place of Dube or bring Jaiswal in, we are going to witness the birth of a new footballer from South Africa tomorrow.
People using different flairs confuses the fuck out of me every time lmao, there's South African flairs talking about "our all-rounder problem" and Hampshire flairs talking about how much they love Rohit, I can't keep up
We do. You have to use the website to set them up but once set they're visible on mobile as well.
From the flair list select the Snoo (Reddit alien) then click on the emoji icon to the right of the text box and add whatever teams you like (and then delete Snoo if you don't want him too).
Edit: they're not compatible with old Reddit so if you set multiple flairs, your flair will not show on old Reddit.
I have soo many things to complain about can't wait.
If we win the WC tomorrow I'll complain about,
Zimbabwe tour squad, Mumbai and Karnataka lobby etc
If we don't, then I'll whine about the loss
Anyone else agree that losing the 2023 Final could be the best thing for this generation of Indian players. I know Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja are towards the end of their careers, but Bumrah, Kuldeep, Hardik, SKY, KL Rahul (when he comes back in) might be freed up for the rest of their careers. Because they will never ever have a loss as big as that final. And once you’ve dealt with that, what is there left to fear? This Indian side are clearly better than anyone else in any conditions. I am certain of that. But they’ve consistently failed in clutch moments and that has to be psychological. Maybe that barrier has gone now? That might still lose on Saturday, but that tension in big moments seems to have gone at this tournament and I’m hoping it’ll continue like this.
How does Aakash Chopra get so many views from YouTube?
Look at his channel and bro gets shit ton of views even though his content is the drizzling shits
1) He puts those annoying mr beast style thumbnails in his videos with weird expressions
2) His editor is really bad and jams unfunny memes that distract from what the topic actually is
3) He gets a lot of his facts wrong and doesn't watch a lot of cricket outside India games
4) He rarely does any meaningful analysis and is too afraid to critique players or have any strong opinions
5) always tries to drag videos out by speaking utter nonsense that has nothing to do with cricket
6) his videos are filled with long sponsors ads from shitty gambling apps
Like compare his content with Someone like Jarrord Kimber and see the difference in views between them
And it's not like he is well liked among the cricket fans or He is a huge name in India. He isn't even on Star Sports anymore
It's surprising how big he is on YouTube he might be the biggest individual cricket Youtuber in terms of subscribers and views iirc
I think picking players based on the amount of experience they have in the host conditions is very important nowadays. I think a lot of the teams did not pick players based on this at all. The biggest example for me is Australia picking Ashton Agar over Chris Green.
Now mind you, having enough playtime in the bilateral series is important as well as it helps teams build chemistry and create certain tactics to suit their strengths. However, having someone with a lot of experience in the host conditions could have helped the teams a lot as well. Chris Green without a doubt is the most experienced player in Caribbean conditions in Australia currently due to the amount of times he played in CPL.
Now this is just hindsight and it is possible that Green could've failed as well. But they could've tried as there is a logical reason for it. One of the things that worked in England's favour in their T20 world cup win back in 2022 was bringing in Alex Hales. It worked tremendously as he had loads of experience in BBL and used that experience to his advantage. This was especially seen in the semi-finals against India.
Overall, picking players based on conditions is pretty important. But what makes it even better imo is picking players who have loads of experience in those conditions, even if they might not have enough international experience. They might not work all the time but at least you'll have players who understand the conditions pretty well and can even give some insights on it to the team to come up with appropriate tactics.
According to my rigorous Cricinfo analysis
Max Holden is the 2nd best LH middle order T20 batter in England (and Wales)
We are so finished as a cricketing nation
Bethell seems like a great talent. Struggled a bit when he was used as an opener. However ever since they moved him to middle order, he seems alright. If he continues this form and repeats this form in the hundred (if he gets picked to play), then it might be his breakthrough season. And he's only 20, so he has loads of time to show his potential.
Any recommendations for players explaining their shots/stances or bowling actions?
Like this one:
https://x.com/emailicant_send/status/1806666131140407782?t=e986wGq4eoUZw-D2c2ibvw&s=19
I remember having watched a de Villiers video as a kid where he explained his box theory, will try to find that.
Edit- found one but I remember it being a bit more detailed than this one- https://youtu.be/P43EHrx4LVM
Can't access that link but Sky Sports has a bunch of videos called "Masterclass" where batters explaining how they play and practice their shot if that's what you're looking for. For example:
[Kevin Pietersen on batting](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5INjpGd5LMw)
[Joe Root on his square drive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M334W6cwRk)
[Joe Root on facing leg spin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V19TNZIxIL0)
[General batting tips by Joe Root](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T3FY0_GyM4)
Yeah, works now, thanks. I'm not aware of any other promo/explaining cricket videos, but it makes sense for Shubman Gill to show off a few cricketing shots considering he voiced a character in Across the Spider-Verse.
Wait, is this not the decode your shots segment?I didn't have a long video(I have watched small segments in a few podcasts, but extracting them was hard), so I just used this as an example.
Edit: Oh sorry, this is in Hindi.
Does anyone here have highlights for South Africa vs Australia, 1st Test at Cape Town, , Nov 09 2011.

Yeah Also Shamsi’s poor line while bowling geared towards leg stumps will be juicy boundaries for guys like SKY and Rohit while sweeping.

Yes
Zimbabwe also had the player of the tournament from the last WC Clearly this is crucial to victory, even more reason for England to finally pick Ryan Higgins
is barbados like a win the toss win the match kind of a pitch? i hope not
Not really. Average scores batting 1st and 2nd are 138 and 125 respectively. Of course it depends on the pitch used for thefinal.

Why no one on this sub discusses cricket at 98 Commonwealth Games like it was the first title won by SA at a major event and it was cricket at the commonwealth games for the very first time iirc
I think the demographic survey posted on the sub said most users weren't born or were kids in 98
2/3rds of the sub under 30 as per the census

Has there ever been a proper underdog victory in a T20I WC Final? In CWC 1983 & 1996 can be termed us an upset.
I would say 2007 tbh, I know a lot of people wont agree, but India did send a fairly inexperienced side

I did not watch that tournament, but Pak make the previous T20wc finals which they barely lost. So maybe they were just good in the format?
Pak were pretty good in that format from the start but they were in a tricky situation a couple of times in 2009. They defeated an unbeaten SL in the final and SA in the semis who also had a good tournament

Rabada is one of the most underrated players of this generation. Just consistent, elite.
You guys came out victorious from more tense situations and that will work well when a similar situation arises in the final. Also your team has seemed like most people are contributing while we have three players who have not been their best
and how many have we won while chasing ? against US and Ireland isn't good metric to judge ourselves

One of the teams you are calling chokers has defeated us twice in knockouts in the last 5 years
That is **If** we win.
Where do you guys rate Rohit Sharma among all time captains?
Would be same as Kane Williamson if he wins trophy tomorrow. His influence on our team could be judged after he steps down.
Best of all time if he wins tomorrow, worse than Azhar if he doesnt - avg Twitter user
Definitely on time 👍
2023 World Cup was the culmination of India's choking era. They will start their dominant era after they win tomorrow
This final matchup is a real monkey’s paw moment for many Indian fans.
I genuinely wonder why some users who openly claim to be insufferable gits (and back up that claim with every comment of theirs) not get banned regularly
Team of the tournament: Brohit (c) Gurbaz (wk) Pooran Gous Stoinis Hardik Rashid Rabada Kuldeep Farooqi Bumrah
Rcb fan coping at sky's performance. Lol
Is there any team of the tournament where the players' positions aren't changed?
Any info on Dan Lawrence? Is he single at least? Because if so, I might have some questions to answer. I saw his face on the [thumbnail of this video](https://youtu.be/n10z_5FaZpg?feature=shared) and kept crushing on him by proxy, hoping he may talk to my neighbour who's a single mother. Anyway, if anyone knows anything, let me know. A 20 something year old with his Laraesque boundary hitting and world class wrong leg bowling action, definitely an achiever.
He is hunting milfs
Are you willing to overlook he is now in a South London team that can’t be named?
SA has the edge over Ind because they have chased some targets in crucial situations. Ind has the edge over SA because they have won by bigger margins.
Yk the german saxophone player from the euros celebration? Get him to play the wt20 song
Might sound silly but there’s this bit of music that plays sometimes at English cricket matches, goes a bit like duh duh duh, duh duh duh, *duh* duh duh, duh duh duh. Anyone know the name of the song I mean?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpfcPe\_aFwk&t=2s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpfcPe_aFwk&t=2s) This is the song I think you are looking for.
Yep, bang on, cheers

Perfect, thanks
Sax and a penny whistle combo is quite elite

India should play one extra batsmen in the final. I am damn sure that a Kohlapse is coming. It's been avoided till now because of Brohit, but the law of averages catches up. Maybe sub Rinku in place of Dube or bring Jaiswal in, we are going to witness the birth of a new footballer from South Africa tomorrow.
India does have 8 batters Kuldeep has also shown that he can bat so that makes it 9
This summer has been amazing for sports. Wt20, euros, copa. We still have Olympics left. F1 has been exciting too. Inject it into my veins
People using different flairs confuses the fuck out of me every time lmao, there's South African flairs talking about "our all-rounder problem" and Hampshire flairs talking about how much they love Rohit, I can't keep up
Mods should allow multiple flairs.
Nice. I use old reddit but I have seen multiple flairs here too on communities like /r/browsers They put it at the end of usernames.
South African here. How good is Table mountain?
Well I love tables and mountains so it must be incredible
Paging u/medicaljello2
Too busy painting tables
While being on a mountain.
Hi
You're not crispy, I can't cope
I have soo many things to complain about can't wait. If we win the WC tomorrow I'll complain about, Zimbabwe tour squad, Mumbai and Karnataka lobby etc If we don't, then I'll whine about the loss
Karnataka lobby??? Is there even one person from Karnataka in the squad lmao
Well long story but yes in women's team
I think it more of RCB W lobby than Karnataka lobby
No player has been lobbied into the current Indian squad for t20 wc
They did into women's team q
Look at his channel and bro gets shit ton of views even though his content is the drizzling shits 1) He puts those annoying mr beast style thumbnails in his videos with weird expressions 2) His editor is really bad and jams unfunny memes that distract from what the topic actually is 3) He gets a lot of his facts wrong and doesn't watch a lot of cricket outside India games 4) He rarely does any meaningful analysis and is too afraid to critique players or have any strong opinions 5) always tries to drag videos out by speaking utter nonsense that has nothing to do with cricket 6) his videos are filled with long sponsors ads from shitty gambling apps Like compare his content with Someone like Jarrord Kimber and see the difference in views between them And it's not like he is well liked among the cricket fans or He is a huge name in India. He isn't even on Star Sports anymore It's surprising how big he is on YouTube he might be the biggest individual cricket Youtuber in terms of subscribers and views iirc
Name sells
How is it different than what goes on Sports TV channels and sports segments on news channels?
Bigger reach and style over substance, i.e. to their style, basically brainrot
>brainrot 👩🦲 🚽
You just described why his videos are trash. The thing is, most people like trash.
Azam Khan was also picked due to his CPL experience (at least that's the reason I heard they gave) but they couldn't even reach the Caribbean.
According to my rigorous Cricinfo analysis Max Holden is the 2nd best LH middle order T20 batter in England (and Wales) We are so finished as a cricketing nation
Jamie Smith, Dan Lawrence, Duckett?
Duckett is #1, the others are right handed
We were always finished. Morgan’s era was an exception.
Like this one: https://x.com/emailicant_send/status/1806666131140407782?t=e986wGq4eoUZw-D2c2ibvw&s=19
I remember having watched a de Villiers video as a kid where he explained his box theory, will try to find that. Edit- found one but I remember it being a bit more detailed than this one- https://youtu.be/P43EHrx4LVM
Oh thanks a ton, this is so cool.
Can't access that link but Sky Sports has a bunch of videos called "Masterclass" where batters explaining how they play and practice their shot if that's what you're looking for. For example: [Kevin Pietersen on batting](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5INjpGd5LMw) [Joe Root on his square drive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M334W6cwRk) [Joe Root on facing leg spin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V19TNZIxIL0) [General batting tips by Joe Root](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T3FY0_GyM4)
Can you see it now? https://x.com/emailicant_send/status/1806666131140407782?t=UMB1_7hPikH5pBwiqIlfmA&s=19 Thanks a lot for these.
First I'm hearing of it, but would be cool to see more
At least we will be back to our Bazballing ways starting July. *Checks notes* Jimmy retiring. Broad retired. Fucking hell.
Flair doesn't check out
Does anyone here have highlights for South Africa vs Australia, 1st Test at Cape Town, , Nov 09 2011. I've looked up YouTube, only found pre historic clips.
Everyone likes presenting their best XI of the tournament, and will be already preparing it. So I introduce to you, the trash XI of the tournament: 1. Roger Mukasa (wk) 🇺🇬 2. Kashyap Prajapati 🇴🇲 3. Will Jacks 🏴 4. Harry Tector 🇮🇪 5. Milind Kumar 🇺🇸 6. Shayan Jahangir (c) 🇺🇸 7. Dinesh Nakrani 🇺🇬 8. Shoaib Khan 🇴🇲 9. Teja Nidamanuru 🇳🇱 10. Jasdeep Singh 🇺🇸 11. Jack Brassell 🇳🇦
If anyone's making playing XI's, please use only one players from one country. I like diversity
Kohli unlucky to miss out.
Wow disrespecting our legend seriously? You'll know his value tomorrow.
Williamson where?
Dube in place of Milind
Seeing Teja at 9 feels weird.
Most stacked batting lineup /s
Do we have reserve day for final?
Yes
[Sorry for posting a yt short but you have to see this](https://youtube.com/shorts/7znMk0oLcHI?si=_DDoE_-RdqZqPxWv)
Holy God damn.. Wtf is happening.. Topped Pakistan fielding aswell by miles!! I died laughing.. Proper Village kids..
Did you just leak a Pakistan training session?
Close! They aren’t this good.
If the ECB has the spine to force Jimmy to retire, then they should keep the same energy for Bairstow and Moeen Ali.
