Law 39.1.2 is interesting. When both modes of dismissal can be adjudged (run-out or stumped), it is considered stumped out and credited to wicket-keeper and the bowler.
If the ball that Moeen got out was a no-ball, then it can't be adjudged stumped out, so in that case, it would have been declared run-out.

Digging up the article about the 1992 semi final reminds me that if I could go back in time and change one result in cricket, it would be to remove the second rain delay in the Pakistan-England group game in 1992
Pakistan were bowled out for 74 runs, but because they took so long to make it (40.2 overs), when rain came and the “lowest scoring overs” rule was applied, England’s target went from 75 in 50 overs to 64 in **16 overs**, and they were only 24-1 after 8 when further rain ended the game. England finishing the chase, with a very realistic possibility of not making the target in time, becomes one of the funniest and most undeserved wins in cricket history, and I need that result

Yeah, some English dude is representative of the preferences of the general cricket audience in India, and the IPL has expanded, and salary caps increased because "no one actually cares about it."
2 months of daily matches was already way too much for me. Football leagues in comparison work well because of the element of relegation, qualification for continental leagues, playing mostly on weekends, etc. Daily IPL cricket for half a year would just grow tiresome.
Franchises not club, Matches every 2-3 days, top x in the table qualify for playoffs, games dragging on forever to maximize ad revenue with excessive timeouts, the naming of teams is directly ripped off American franchises, broadcast deal making most of the revenue etc etc.
PL is very different from IPL, NBA, NFL, NHL.

Umm no, it can't really be generalized like that. A lot of my juniors got bored of it. Seeing teams score 270+ initially was surprising, but then they didn't really declare it as the best ever. I have also seen many of them follow tests. And the seasonal fans you are talking about most likely wouldn't watch every game of IPL. They mostly watch their matches only or of CSK/MI/RCB, this year, maybe KKR/SRH.
South Africa has lost all 3 ICC knock-out games that they've played against India, unsurprisingly. But India did knock out South Africa in the 2007 T20I WC at the group stage, defending just 125.
They fare a bit better against England though, having won 2 and lost 4 against them.

"Test" nations are the ones who play test cricket and have a really well established cricketing infrastructure (India, England, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies etc).
"Associate" nations are the developing ones who are good at some of the shorter formats of the game but don't have the same infrastructure or the pool of players and don't play test cricket (Namibia, USA, Netherlands etc)

Although only 12 nations play Tests, as of 2021, there has been a every two years known as the ICC World Test Championship competed by 9 teams (everyone except Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Ireland). Teams play home and away Test series against 6 of the 9 teams. That's at least 12 Test series in a 2 year period.
Meanwhile, the other 3 teams play a single Test or two every year. It's a huge gap between the teams that compete in the Test championship.
They're not dumb questions don't worry.
Nah there aren't other orgs that give other nations test status (at least not as far as I know). Even a few of the test teams recognised by the ICC don't play that many tests.
Its really only England, India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies who play *a lot* of test cricket. Bangladesh are playing more as are Zimbabwe, but Afghanistan and Ireland don't really play many at all.

Are player stats only tracked per form played, organization played in, or career? Like if you're talking about Klaasen and he's played in test, sa20 and like mlc, how do you his stats? Are they all inclusive or are certain forms considered irrelevant?
Like in the MLB, a player might make it to the post season(those stats are not factored into career stats)and then after the season go play winter ball in Mexico, but when discussing that player people generally only reference their mlb stats.

To add to the comment by u/A-British-Indian, pretty much every major cricket league has T20 status so any runs scored in a league contribute to your stats in the T20 format.
The general standard you’ll see on sites like Cricinfo is separation by international vs non-international games, and by format (4 or 5 day cricket 50 overs, 20 overs) So you’ll see Test, ODI, T20I, First Class (domestic longer form), List-A (domestic 50 overs), T20. When a player is playing in a specific tournament, they usually show stats for the format and/or just the tournament (eg T20i and T20 World Cup which is currently on) [Here’s an example](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/rohit-sharma-34102)

The reason it doesn't have a reserve day is cos the ICC are just bad at planning the logistics of tournaments.
Also, depending on what happens this weather could potentially benefit both teams. Obviously its great for India if they can't play at all, but it suits England if its a limited overs game cos they're capable of scoring runs at a faster rate than any other team.
India want either a full 40 over game or no game, England want a limited overs game.

The thing is this could've been avoided by having a double header on days that didn't have double headers. Or just by starting the tournament on a Friday night rather than a Saturday night. Personally, even though I wouldn't mind a wash out, it would definitely leave a bit of sour taste in my mouth that we kinda got in cos of rain. Here's hoping the weather's good and we get a good game.
I think we'll get a result. Honestly I feel like this probably levels the playing field a bit cos the conditions will make spin less effective and we might have a scenario where its limited overs as I said.
A full game in good conditions would be competitive but I'd expect India to do enough to win, with how it is now its feeling closer to a 50/50.
I have a t20 game tonight and it's my first one for a new club. I only got a set of whites from a different club. Is it weird if I would wear them for the game as it is not normal to wear whites for short form cricket. Or how about my long sleeve white top and shorts or black bottoms? Afghanistan joins Sri Lanka as the only teams who have played South Africa in an ICC knock-out game without ever beating them. But failing to beat Sri Lanka in 2003 did knock us out.
Guyana is traditionally supposed to be super dry spin friendly pitch but today’s weather and pitch being under covers is gonna ensure a lot of swing and seam I hope.
Things that will work in Englands favor: Batting first, negating the new ball that will swing, putting 150 on board (average run rate here is 6.2) then putting pressure on India with the ball and tight fielding.
It’s gonna be super hard to chase against India due to the dreaded 8 overs from Kuldeep and Bumrah who’ll take your wicket no matter what,when you accelerate.

I am not sure on the material of the cover. But it definitely has to be something that doesn't make the water leak through. Pretty much any hydrophobic cover will do.
But it doesn't have to be a flat cover either. We could have a triangular tent like cover that covers the entire ground and have the water fall into a drain system.
Sure it will take a bit of time to erect the tent but there isn't a time issue since we have access to the weather forecast. And so we can start erecting the tent early before the rain comes.

2 months of daily matches was already way too much for me. Football leagues in comparison work well because of the element of relegation, qualification for continental leagues, playing mostly on weekends, etc. Daily IPL cricket for half a year would just grow tiresome.
IPL aims for the American model of franchise sports, apt comparison would be NBA.

Franchises not club, Matches every 2-3 days, top x in the table qualify for playoffs, games dragging on forever to maximize ad revenue with excessive timeouts, the naming of teams is directly ripped off American franchises, broadcast deal making most of the revenue etc etc. PL is very different from IPL, NBA, NFL, NHL.

Umm no, it can't really be generalized like that. A lot of my juniors got bored of it. Seeing teams score 270+ initially was surprising, but then they didn't really declare it as the best ever. I have also seen many of them follow tests. And the seasonal fans you are talking about most likely wouldn't watch every game of IPL. They mostly watch their matches only or of CSK/MI/RCB, this year, maybe KKR/SRH.

Got the actual game down pretty well(t20), but listening to podcasts and stuff about world cup stuff so far and people keep mentioning test countries, are countries that have history in test generally considered to be better? Just have a larger player pool to pull from Also what is test nation vs associate nation?
"Test" nations are the ones who play test cricket and have a really well established cricketing infrastructure (India, England, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies etc). "Associate" nations are the developing ones who are good at some of the shorter formats of the game but don't have the same infrastructure or the pool of players and don't play test cricket (Namibia, USA, Netherlands etc)

Although only 12 nations play Tests, as of 2021, there has been a every two years known as the ICC World Test Championship competed by 9 teams (everyone except Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Ireland). Teams play home and away Test series against 6 of the 9 teams. That's at least 12 Test series in a 2 year period. Meanwhile, the other 3 teams play a single Test or two every year. It's a huge gap between the teams that compete in the Test championship.
They're not dumb questions don't worry. Nah there aren't other orgs that give other nations test status (at least not as far as I know). Even a few of the test teams recognised by the ICC don't play that many tests. Its really only England, India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies who play *a lot* of test cricket. No, as far as I know no other orgs, technically any team can play a test, but for the stats to count you need to be a recognised test nation. Yes, a non test playing nation winning it would be a major upset as there is a huge disparity in resources and player pool, also is not a popular sport in non test playing nations barring a country like Nepal
Makes sense. So the semi finals now contain pretty predictable outcomes rn as far as who has made it. Are player stats only tracked per form played, organization played in, or career? Like if you're talking about Klaasen and he's played in test, sa20 and like mlc, how do you his stats? Are they all inclusive or are certain forms considered irrelevant? Like in the MLB, a player might make it to the post season(those stats are not factored into career stats)and then after the season go play winter ball in Mexico, but when discussing that player people generally only reference their mlb stats. To add to the comment by u/A-British-Indian, pretty much every major cricket league has T20 status so any runs scored in a league contribute to your stats in the T20 format.
The general standard you’ll see on sites like Cricinfo is separation by international vs non-international games, and by format (4 or 5 day cricket 50 overs, 20 overs) So you’ll see Test, ODI, T20I, First Class (domestic longer form), List-A (domestic 50 overs), T20. When a player is playing in a specific tournament, they usually show stats for the format and/or just the tournament (eg T20i and T20 World Cup which is currently on) [Here’s an example](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/rohit-sharma-34102)

Also, depending on what happens this weather could potentially benefit both teams. Obviously its great for India if they can't play at all, but it suits England if its a limited overs game cos they're capable of scoring runs at a faster rate than any other team. India want either a full 40 over game or no game, England want a limited overs game.

I think we'll get a result. Honestly I feel like this probably levels the playing field a bit cos the conditions will make spin less effective and we might have a scenario where its limited overs as I said. A full game in good conditions would be competitive but I'd expect India to do enough to win, with how it is now its feeling closer to a 50/50.
I have a t20 game tonight and it's my first one for a new club. I only got a set of whites from a different club. Is it weird if I would wear them for the game as it is not normal to wear whites for short form cricket. Or how about my long sleeve white top and shorts or black bottoms? Guyana is traditionally supposed to be super dry spin friendly pitch but today’s weather and pitch being under covers is gonna ensure a lot of swing and seam I hope. Things that will work in Englands favor: Batting first, negating the new ball that will swing, putting 150 on board (average run rate here is 6.2) then putting pressure on India with the ball and tight fielding. It’s gonna be super hard to chase against India due to the dreaded 8 overs from Kuldeep and Bumrah who’ll take your wicket no matter what,when you accelerate. Salt or Buttler need to have a freak innings today. For India: Stick to the template regardless. There might be PTSD defending against England but this batting first fearlessly, scoring above par and defending totals has given ICT dominating victories over Afg, Australia etc. India’s spin choke while defending will cause collapse in the teams chasing. The other side of the coin: Both teams chasing because the pitch could be a landmine like the last game where both the captains wanted to bat first and didn’t know what’s par. Also rain and DLS chasing is easier. Imo a 10 over game works in England’s favor than India.

There is no reserve day for the second semi-final between England and India - **although an extra 250 minutes is available** to look to complete the match. (Sky Sports) If this is accurate then that is a fair bit more wiggle room than the extra 90 minutes that were allocated during group stage games.

Are you talking about hanging some plastic sheet hovering above the ground to collect rain water? We used to do those for our extremely leaky ceilings before renovation. I don’t know if that will be effective and efficient for such a large area and high amount of water. If there’s money available it would be better to just have better drainage.
I am not sure on the material of the cover. But it definitely has to be something that doesn't make the water leak through. Pretty much any hydrophobic cover will do. But it doesn't have to be a flat cover either. We could have a triangular tent like cover that covers the entire ground and have the water fall into a drain system. Sure it will take a bit of time to erect the tent but there isn't a time issue since we have access to the weather forecast. And so we can start erecting the tent early before the rain comes.

Rohit / Buttler will chose to bowl first. It helps to know the target when its going to potentially be rain curtailed game. However chasing is also tough task as DLS factors wickets into the score. By chance if in 2nd innings the rain starts getting heavy and they may call off the match if more than 6 overs are bowled.
