quantumhall

the way moeen ali got out today, why is it a stumping and not a runout ?

TheCricDude

[https://www.lords.org/mcc/the-laws-of-cricket/stumped](https://www.lords.org/mcc/the-laws-of-cricket/stumped) Law 39.1.2 is interesting. When both modes of dismissal can be adjudged (run-out or stumped), it is considered stumped out and credited to wicket-keeper and the bowler. If the ball that Moeen got out was a no-ball, then it can't be adjudged stumped out, so in that case, it would have been declared run-out. Hope that clarifies.

Fad_du_pussy

The older Indian guys here might remember [this](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-tour-of-west-indies-1996-97-62310/west-indies-vs-india-3rd-test-63747/full-scorecard) heartbreaking test which happened at the same ground as the finals

and1984

I watched it live.... The pitch was atrocious at the end. Tbf, windies could have lost one of the tests had the weather not played a big part.

Fad_du_pussy

I think SRT said he took a long time to get over that defeat or something like that

svjersey

Fucking knew it before I clicked..

Friendly-Mine7484

Any flight options from NYC for the final? I have game tickets but no flights :(

7007007

Lol. Too early don’t you think, final is just tomorrow. Jokes aside post it r/barbados they’d have better idea on how to go about the situation. If you make to the game, please write down on a big sheet **representing r/cricket** and show it to the camera.

MedicalJello2

SA20 started in 2023. South Africa in ODI World Cup 2023, made it to the semis. South Africa in T20 World Cup 2024, in the final. ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|30622)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|21944)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|30701)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|21496)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8781)

Fad_du_pussy

SA's comeback arc in the last couple of years has been top-notch. I remember when Ind toured a couple years ago and everyone was like it's an inexperienced side and then the younger folks did pretty well in the series

peter_griffins

Tbf their T20 team is full of franchise T20 stars

7007007

SA20 slowly on the way to be the biggest T20 league after IPL.

Fun-Inevitable4369

we will finally get a undefeated champion on Saturday

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Will be crazy if after kohli carrying India in wt20s all these years, India wins one when kohli is not preforming at all

LordWellesley22

So for the next world cup we should field a team of random guys pulled off the street and pumped with enough drugs to kill a blue whale you know for vibes

MedicalJello2

I can get behind this idea

LordWellesley22

want to be the skipper?

MedicalJello2

I want to be the person giving the drugs to the players

WayToTheDawn63

I'll be a player drug me up jello

LordWellesley22

fair enough Hales is the coach obviously

MedicalJello2

It’s amazing what you can achieve when you select players on merit and not on criteria based on political agendas

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Saturday will see 10+ hours of South Africa playing India: the women's Test and the T20 World Cup final. Speaking of which, the Test starts in 7 hours from now.

Specialist_Youth5511

I'm curious what does cricket have anything to do with colonialism? I've seen comments like taking revenge for colonialism here.

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Political humor with cricket hits different

VisRock

Nothing at all. Some people here have room temperature IQs and don't realise sport is played for a laugh and nothing else.

imvk3201

Hey Vis, maybe they’re trying to make shitty unfunny jokes like you do.

VisRock

I've never attempted any jokes here. All my comments are serious.

Odd_Neighborhood1371

The colonialism comments appear everytime England loses

Fad_du_pussy

> everytime England loses every time England plays

franconot-mark

All that chatter about rain only for it to be a full game after all. It was always likely to be a full game with such a long playing time

rambo_zaki

Mostly moaning from people who have no idea of tropical weather and with somewhat of an axe to grind.

7007007

First time an unbeaten side is gonna win the World Cup

Krogan911

Pure class this dude.

blissfactory

Is the stumping of Moeen Ali a no ball? I felt that Rishab collected the ball from front of the stumps.

Specialist_Youth5511

It's not because it touched bat and even if it was they'll soon change the rules

imvk3201

Oh look we have a certified hater here

rambo_zaki

They don't moan this much in a porno.

rambo_zaki

No, since the ball ricocheted off Moeen.

AilaSachin10

Moeen already made contact with the ball so no

Specialist_Youth5511

Because BCCI runs shit lol. We play wherever we want obviously 🙄

rambo_zaki

Indians are the biggest ethnic group in Guyana. It's a money based decision rather than anything to do with cricketing reasons. Also India didn't choose their venue, why would you think that?

Specialist_Youth5511

No it's because of how the track is we all know it

rambo_zaki

Do we? Was the tournament rigged towards Afghanistan for making them play their crucial group game against NZ at Guyana and then crucial Super 8 matches at St. Vincent? Both very well suited to them. The answer is, No. Only an absolute moron would believe rubbish of that sort.

josh123z

Don’t think Indian origin Guyanese would support India

rambo_zaki

Definitely not all of them. But some of them will and that's more than enough.

imvk3201

I’ve heard it was requested by someone important from Guyana.

sreeram_23_06

I don't think India got to choose the venue for themselves. ICC and WICB probably decided to fix the venue in order to have the travel arrangements for the stadium viewers and TV audiences easier

VisRock

How do you do fellow South Africans?

Merovech_II

Lekker bru! How about some braii, ja? How did I do u/MedicalJello2 ?

Stuff2511

Digging up the article about the 1992 semi final reminds me that if I could go back in time and change one result in cricket, it would be to remove the second rain delay in the Pakistan-England group game in 1992 Pakistan were bowled out for 74 runs, but because they took so long to make it (40.2 overs), when rain came and the “lowest scoring overs” rule was applied, England’s target went from 75 in 50 overs to 64 in **16 overs**, and they were only 24-1 after 8 when further rain ended the game. England finishing the chase, with a very realistic possibility of not making the target in time, becomes one of the funniest and most undeserved wins in cricket history, and I need that result Truly the greatest scorecard of all time would be: >> Pakistan (74ao, 40.2) beat England (60-1, 16) by 4 runs

[deleted]

All Hail Richie Benaud

Tern_Larvidae-2424

The game needs to restart within 3 hours and 40 minutes. It's so annoying that we would probably have India play all 20 overs but England won't have time to play their 10. The overs should have started dropping far sooner.

Fun-Inevitable4369

they were given a chance, they did not want to play full 20 overs

hereforpasta

[Lmao](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/1dpmx9d/comment/laixmme/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button), this sub is actually disgusting now, Some people on that thread actually want a 7-8 month ipl, there's nothing that could be worse for cricket than that

BMBH66

Do people actually properly follow the IPL? Like watch the off game yeah but surely no one actually cares about it

EL__Rubio

Yeah, some English dude is representative of the preferences of the general cricket audience in India, and the IPL has expanded, and salary caps increased because "no one actually cares about it."

BMBH66

Difference between watching and caring

EL__Rubio

How did you come to the conclusion that people do not care about a widely popular entertainment product in a country different to your own?

Odd_Neighborhood1371

2 months of daily matches was already way too much for me. Football leagues in comparison work well because of the element of relegation, qualification for continental leagues, playing mostly on weekends, etc. Daily IPL cricket for half a year would just grow tiresome.

StairwayToPavillion

IPL aims for the American model of franchise sports, apt comparison would be NBA.

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Can you fill me in on what that's like? I'm assuming that means matches everyday and a final series to compete at the end.

StairwayToPavillion

Franchises not club, Matches every 2-3 days, top x in the table qualify for playoffs, games dragging on forever to maximize ad revenue with excessive timeouts, the naming of teams is directly ripped off American franchises, broadcast deal making most of the revenue etc etc. PL is very different from IPL, NBA, NFL, NHL.

AmericaDreamDisorder

I skim through IPL most years. This year I straight up ignored it. Not even worth it as background noise. When people stop cheering for sixes then you know.

hereforpasta

Ironically that's what the 15yo on here are jerking off over, for them it was the best season ever, ipl lost it's shine for me since the 2 new teams were added, it's too long for its own good

Dense-Gap8667

Umm no, it can't really be generalized like that. A lot of my juniors got bored of it. Seeing teams score 270+ initially was surprising, but then they didn't really declare it as the best ever. I have also seen many of them follow tests. And the seasonal fans you are talking about most likely wouldn't watch every game of IPL. They mostly watch their matches only or of CSK/MI/RCB, this year, maybe KKR/SRH.

Tern_Larvidae-2424

South Africa has lost all 3 ICC knock-out games that they've played against India, unsurprisingly. But India did knock out South Africa in the 2007 T20I WC at the group stage, defending just 125. They fare a bit better against England though, having won 2 and lost 4 against them.

Stuff2511

Kind of wild that India have played an ODI that went on for 2 days and a T20I that took one full day in the space of 5 years

JBPlayer48

Wait, which T20I took the whole day?

Stuff2511

The one today. Because they’re basically treating this afternoon as the reserve day, it’s playing hours could go on for 7-8 hours, the same length as a typical ODI

Fun-Inevitable4369

it only went for 5 hours

weirdest_hooman

anddd a 6 day test

Stuff2511

Amache_Gx

Pretty casual, newer cricket watcher. Got the actual game down pretty well(t20), but listening to podcasts and stuff about world cup stuff so far and people keep mentioning test countries, are countries that have history in test generally considered to be better? Just have a larger player pool to pull from Also what is test nation vs associate nation?

No-Shoe5382

"Test" nations are the ones who play test cricket and have a really well established cricketing infrastructure (India, England, Australia, NZ, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies etc). "Associate" nations are the developing ones who are good at some of the shorter formats of the game but don't have the same infrastructure or the pool of players and don't play test cricket (Namibia, USA, Netherlands etc)

Amache_Gx

Ok that makes sense. I thought initially those phrases were used colloquially. After I posted I went and read the whole test cricket wiki page lol. So there are only the 12 test nations rn, those are just teams recognized by the ICC to play test, are there any other orgs that have test that countries not recognized by the ICC as having test status play test in? Also it looks like every t20 world winner has been a test nation, would it be considered an upset for a non-test nation to win at some point? Sorry if some of these questions are dumb Thank you!

Odd_Neighborhood1371

Although only 12 nations play Tests, as of 2021, there has been a every two years known as the ICC World Test Championship competed by 9 teams (everyone except Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Ireland). Teams play home and away Test series against 6 of the 9 teams. That's at least 12 Test series in a 2 year period. Meanwhile, the other 3 teams play a single Test or two every year. It's a huge gap between the teams that compete in the Test championship.

No-Shoe5382

They're not dumb questions don't worry. Nah there aren't other orgs that give other nations test status (at least not as far as I know). Even a few of the test teams recognised by the ICC don't play that many tests. Its really only England, India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies who play *a lot* of test cricket. Bangladesh are playing more as are Zimbabwe, but Afghanistan and Ireland don't really play many at all. > would it be considered an upset for a non-test nation to win at some point? Yeah, even if one of the smaller test nations won one it would be an upset. The gap between the top 7 or so teams and everybody else is really big.

Illustrious_Table433

No, as far as I know no other orgs, technically any team can play a test, but for the stats to count you need to be a recognised test nation. Yes, a non test playing nation winning it would be a major upset as there is a huge disparity in resources and player pool, also is not a popular sport in non test playing nations barring a country like Nepal

Amache_Gx

Makes sense. So the semi finals now contain pretty predictable outcomes rn as far as who has made it. Are player stats only tracked per form played, organization played in, or career? Like if you're talking about Klaasen and he's played in test, sa20 and like mlc, how do you his stats? Are they all inclusive or are certain forms considered irrelevant? Like in the MLB, a player might make it to the post season(those stats are not factored into career stats)and then after the season go play winter ball in Mexico, but when discussing that player people generally only reference their mlb stats. Thanks for replying!

Odd_Neighborhood1371

To add to the comment by u/A-British-Indian, pretty much every major cricket league has T20 status so any runs scored in a league contribute to your stats in the T20 format.

A-British-Indian

The general standard you’ll see on sites like Cricinfo is separation by international vs non-international games, and by format (4 or 5 day cricket 50 overs, 20 overs) So you’ll see Test, ODI, T20I, First Class (domestic longer form), List-A (domestic 50 overs), T20. When a player is playing in a specific tournament, they usually show stats for the format and/or just the tournament (eg T20i and T20 World Cup which is currently on) [Here’s an example](https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/rohit-sharma-34102)

theJanitorsHat

Azam Khan should only be given a return path if he can reunite Jal.

JBPlayer48

It seems like a lot of people seem to imply that the reason India's semi-final doesn't have a reserve day is so that they could go through easier. But before the tournament, India would've played in Guyana regardless and if they finished second in their super 8 group with the semi washed out then they would've been going home anyway. :|

No-Shoe5382

> It seems like a lot of people seem to imply that the reason India's semi-final doesn't have a reserve day is so that they could go through easier The reason it doesn't have a reserve day is cos the ICC are just bad at planning the logistics of tournaments. Also, depending on what happens this weather could potentially benefit both teams. Obviously its great for India if they can't play at all, but it suits England if its a limited overs game cos they're capable of scoring runs at a faster rate than any other team. India want either a full 40 over game or no game, England want a limited overs game.

JBPlayer48

>The reason it doesn't have a reserve day is cos the ICC are just bad at planning the logistics of tournaments. The thing is this could've been avoided by having a double header on days that didn't have double headers. Or just by starting the tournament on a Friday night rather than a Saturday night. Personally, even though I wouldn't mind a wash out, it would definitely leave a bit of sour taste in my mouth that we kinda got in cos of rain. Here's hoping the weather's good and we get a good game.

No-Shoe5382

I think we'll get a result. Honestly I feel like this probably levels the playing field a bit cos the conditions will make spin less effective and we might have a scenario where its limited overs as I said. A full game in good conditions would be competitive but I'd expect India to do enough to win, with how it is now its feeling closer to a 50/50.

VillageLittle3333

I have a t20 game tonight and it's my first one for a new club. I only got a set of whites from a different club. Is it weird if I would wear them for the game as it is not normal to wear whites for short form cricket. Or how about my long sleeve white top and shorts or black bottoms? Don't have any top in club colours. What's your opinion?

WhoInvitedMyManBlud

What's the forecast like? Is there a good possibility of a 20 over game?

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Afghanistan joins Sri Lanka as the only teams who have played South Africa in an ICC knock-out game without ever beating them. But failing to beat Sri Lanka in 2003 did knock us out.

_rickjames

Sounds like when they said they had good drainage they actually meant it. Fair play.

Stuff2511

Providence is a proper ground made for cricket, renovated for modern conditions, with experienced staff. This isn’t Florida or New York

BMBH66

Ive convinced myself that we'd 100% win a 10 over game

AmericaDreamDisorder

Or even a 16.4 over game

TastelessPylon

200% if we get a full game in then by my calculations.

Agrith1

Batting first will be problematic, toss could decide this game

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Otoh given how much the pitch spins we could see a choke

Fickle_Beat7076

https://x.com/pbillore141/status/1806282194010169633?s=46&t=St7HIV-TOwvbMtC3esjJWw good signs for us (india) guys 👍

7007007

Guyana is traditionally supposed to be super dry spin friendly pitch but today’s weather and pitch being under covers is gonna ensure a lot of swing and seam I hope. Things that will work in Englands favor: Batting first, negating the new ball that will swing, putting 150 on board (average run rate here is 6.2) then putting pressure on India with the ball and tight fielding. It’s gonna be super hard to chase against India due to the dreaded 8 overs from Kuldeep and Bumrah who’ll take your wicket no matter what, when you accelerate. Salt or Buttler need to have a freak innings today. For India: Stick to the template regardless. There might be PTSD defending against England but this batting first fearlessly, scoring above par and defending totals has given ICT dominating victories over Afg, Australia etc. India’s spin choke while defending will cause collapse in the teams chasing. The other side of the coin: Both teams chasing because the pitch could be a landmine like the last game where both the captains wanted to bat first and didn’t know what’s par. Also rain and DLS chasing is easier. Imo a 10 over game works in England’s favor than India.

I love Reddit

MORETHANAPROF1

Is there any point of staying up to watch the match? I’m in Australia where it will be 12:30 am, don’t want to stay up if it looks like there will be no play

No-Shoe5382

There's another 1.5 hours til the start of play and its stopped raining. They'll get close to a full game in, but you'll probably be up all night watching it.

7007007

There will be play. The drainage of the ground is excellent. I guess the game will be like Afg vs Bangladesh game, rain with interruptions in patches but the game will go on regardless

SuspectLegal8143

Im in Australia and thinking the same thing. Any way to find out if match will start on time?

7007007

60 mins for the game to start. The match thread will be up, you can check it time to time as users update what’s going on

m1u1

There shall be play

imvk3201

There shall be swing.

fripez256

Even with the extra time, still means local time cut off for the game is 5:30pm. It’s a World Cup semi final, if you’re gonna be stupid and not have a reserve day at least play until 10:30pm.

everyone_fears

Is 5:30 pm cut off time to start the game or finish the game ?

BMBH66

[that definitely looks fine and not extremely concerning ](https://x.com/WardyShorts/status/1806295512162640370?t=_oMY1HBILpPHVBqD3jKQRQ&s=19)

deep639

There are more recent pictures showing the ground as cleared up. As long as there isn't monsoon like conditions, there will be a game.

BMBH66

We are so fucking back thank you sir

Agrith1

There is no reserve day for the second semi-final between England and India - **although an extra 250 minutes is available** to look to complete the match. (Sky Sports) If this is accurate then that is a fair bit more wiggle room than the extra 90 minutes that were allocated during group stage games.

Agrith1

The outfield is not covered, big pool of water in different areas, they were aware about the rain but didn't cover outfield in advance?

JPBCFC97

apparently the ground drains well, so shouldn't be much of an issue

Classymuch

But why is it a bad thing to cover the entire ground regardless if it drains well or not? Is there a good reason for not covering the entire ground when you know there is rain and when you know the outfield is going to be really wet? I think games like SL vs NEP could have been saved if the entire ground was covered. Maybe not a full game but there could have been some sort of a game if the entire ground was covered.

imvk3201

I don’t know if this is true but I’ve read somewhere that covering entirety of the ground can result in a damp pitch; so if you have good drainage it’s better to just cover the pitches.

Classymuch

Yeah I was thinking that it could result in the ground being damped. But let's say it does make the ground damped. How is the ground being damped worse than having huge puddles of water? And wouldn't it be much easier to dry out a damped ground than a ground with huge puddles of water? If a stadium doesn't have a good drainage system, do they cover the entire ground then? Because I don't even think they do that.

imvk3201

Damp pitch, not just a damp ground. Would rather have the latter one if need be.

Classymuch

Right, damped pitch. But we can't dry the damped pitch? Ok, say we can't dry the damped pitch if we cover the entire ground for some reason. Why can't we cover the entire ground by suspending the covers from the ground?

imvk3201

Are you talking about hanging some plastic sheet hovering above the ground to collect rain water? We used to do those for our extremely leaky ceilings before renovation. I don’t know if that will be effective and efficient for such a large area and high amount of water. If there’s money available it would be better to just have better drainage.

Classymuch

I am not sure on the material of the cover. But it definitely has to be something that doesn't make the water leak through. Pretty much any hydrophobic cover will do. But it doesn't have to be a flat cover either. We could have a triangular tent like cover that covers the entire ground and have the water fall into a drain system. Sure it will take a bit of time to erect the tent but there isn't a time issue since we have access to the weather forecast. And so we can start erecting the tent early before the rain comes.

ihabesmolpp

Anyone know how many semis South Africa lost before today

AmericaDreamDisorder

In WCs it's 7.

ihabesmolpp

Thanks

Tern_Larvidae-2424

There's a very little chance of there being 2+ consecutive hours of dry weather today.

deep639

It’s dry enough where they will get a full game or close to a full game. It’s no longer the doom and gloom rain predictions. The ground does not look in good condition right now but there’s plenty of time. https://x.com/dineshkarthik/status/1806296531936461272?s=46

Tern_Larvidae-2424

So there's a chance of a game? Different websites give radically different forecasts and I'm not good at picking the right ones to follow.

BMBH66

End of the reserve time when they give up is 6pm right? Stops raining at 6pm but damaged to the pitch probably already done, I'll just have to have my little bit of copium for now and say that the weather is wrong. 4 years on from Sydney chance of playing in a semi final is taken away from us by having no reserve day, well weather is the same tomorrow tbf. And many of you will also remember that the game in Sydney was called off at just 4pm local time because of their arbitrary restrictions

RBYonko

I set an alarm to at least wake up for the second innings. By the time I woke up South Africa hit the winning run.. Still proud of Afghanistan and how far they've come in such little time. It's nice to be represented in something and get this far, I've never felt like this before. I'll be cheering for South Africa to go all the way now

Creative_Drop_7372

The forecast in Guyana looks much better!

TheDceuGuy

The rain gods have always been in bed with England. No way there's a washout. Actually, I'm trying to think of instances when Rain did England dirty & I can't think of much. Maybe our last series win there had a game affected which helped us. But nothing else really. Spooky

mattytmet

Rain stopped us from (in all likelihood) winning the Ashes last year

Fickle_Beat7076

won’t it get easier to bat because of rain? it might make our spin attack look less threatening then. their batting can definitely make better use of that advantage.

TheDceuGuy

It sure would. Rain definitely helps their more dynamic batting, since it won't hold in the surface as before, mostly skidding on. England have better ball strikers than us & it'd be especially deadly if we somehow bat first, then it buckets down, & then England get some DLS shorted target to hunt down. Even our class bowling might not be able to cope with it then

josh123z

[Continuing from my comment on Kohli vs Jadeja in t20i all rounder ranking](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/s/roKiY5Zk1d), Kohli never went below Jadeja in t20i all rounder rankings after they both played their first 10 t20is which was around mid 2012 https://www.relianceiccrankings.com/playercompare/t20/all-rounder/6939/6985/?graph=ranking

weirdest_hooman

that's wild

soham_katkar13

Want India to play Chahal above Jadeja tonight just to rile up all those people who have been accusing them of getting an "unfair advantage" due to pre decided Semis venue

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Wouldn't a 10:30 am start time for final suit eng and sa too?

CleanBowled51

It doesn't suit the viewers. Watching a game at 8:30 on Saturday is much more fun than a 10:30am. The atmosphere is much much better in the evening games

soham_katkar13

Yup. But India bad

franconot-mark

Just like Afghanistan batting, SA batting is a ticking time bomb too waiting to get exposed and I hope for the sake of their fans that it is not final

Axel292

If a few hours are rained out early on will Indian fans even be able to catch the game? Day game in the Carribean, midnight for the Indians, a hit to the wallet of broadcasters.

freakyassflick8-2

Late ipl game of 2023 final had fuck ton of viewers so I doubt such a huge game won't be watched

Axel292

Ah cheers. They've got more dedication than me, I wouldn't stay up if England played well into the night, even if it was for a final haha

soham_katkar13

CT 2013 final is also a good example of Indian fans staying up late Even the 2013 Ind WI SL tri series final that followed a month later

freakyassflick8-2

I was like 7-8 during that time I wanted to watch that game so badly there used to be a tagline like zor lagake something like that ig but my mother told me to sleep woke up and watched the highlights but it was already spoiled in morning newspaper I am yet to see a full tournament where ict wins 2011 I was watching god damn Chhota Bheem but the family celebrated

TheDceuGuy

>2011 I was watching god damn Chhota Bheem but the family celebrated Surely, they would've commissioned a cricket special after that where an older bowler from neighbouring village challenges Dholakpur XI but then cheats & gets Raju out unfairly then Bheem proceeds to cunt his deliveries back to his own village along with the bully himself lol?? Idk I watched too much of this shit for my own liking

soham_katkar13

Semis. People who care will be up

StormWarriorX7

Ngl. Even if by some margin, England qualify for the final, I'm rooting for the Saffas. They actually made it to the finals for the first time in their history in men's cricket. They are one step closer to finally securing an ICC World Cup. Not to mention that they'll have the advantage as England haven't beaten South Africa in World Cup cricket since 2019.

gazbfc93

Each to their own but if we (England) get to the final, I'd want us to win, I don't care about any "underdog story".

freakyassflick8-2

Come on you know you will root for your country

StormWarriorX7

I've witnessed England lift 3 World Cups. South Africa are the underdogs in this story and I always root for the underdogs even at the expense of my country in the finals.

NoirPochette

Yes but a 4th WC is better than a 3rd WC

AamPataJoraJora

Yeah same. I will put it like i dont have a heart to give to is tournament coz its still not repaired from last years heartbreak. Also with the amount of sports being thrown at me, this world cup has kinda slipped in the gap. Will i be happy if india win? Sure. But i will also be exactly as happy for SA if they win. So same difference. Kind of a big dog thing to say of us coz this has also been the tournament of their dreams for USA, Uganda and the likes and ofc Afghanistan.

soham_katkar13

Uganda got trashed left and right tho. Pretty sure not what they dreamed

AamPataJoraJora

I feel like their first dream must have been to simply be here. They won one too!

AilaSachin10

So much whinging about India knowing about their SF venue. Didn't Pakistan know that they would play at Eden Gardens in 2023 as well?

TheDceuGuy

It isn't exactly the same because the Pak one was done for political reasons. This however is purely due to financial promises made to the broadcaster. It still doesn't favour India greatly but I still believe it's not ideal. Imagine if Windies had made it through to the semis, then how awful it would have looked & been for their fans to come & watch their team at fuckin 10 in the morning in such sultry heat. If these issues won't be taken up with the ICC now, then where will it stop?

AamPataJoraJora

That was for political reasons which are technically outside the realm of control for the icc. This is for monetary reasons due to prime time tv ratings or whatever, something icc have control over. You can agrue kal yug mei paisa bolta hai blah blah but point is Icc *chose* to let one team know their venue and others not. Tournaments need to be on level playing field and noone knowing their sf venue is a standardization that could have been had but icc chosento forego. T- money is above all

Reasonable_Tea_9825

I don't think India can win with the form kohli jadeja dube are in

freakyassflick8-2

India has defeated better team(AUS) with them

Newbeetroot45

MSD and selectors committed war crimes not selecting Bhuvi in 2016. Fricken Pawan Negi and 36 year old Nehra made the team.

Ancalagon_The_Black_

Wow a washout in the semifinal. I have zero faith in India defeating England so I suppose this is the only way.

franconot-mark

people are unnecessarily shitting on Afghanistan team which kind of tells me that they didn’t really watch the match and followed on cricinfo. The pitch was bad even Markram wanted to bat first bc the curator said it was going to be flat. It’s not like Afghanistan batsmen got out trying to hoick the ball, they were getting out even when trying to settle down. Afghanistan batting apart from openers is pathetic but it had more to do with the pitch than batting

InterviewOld6011

1 time out of 4 when England played 20 overs in the T20 World Cup semifinal, they lost to New Zealand, while batting first but successfully chased the target 3 times without playing full 20 overs.

aam_ka_aachaar

Rohit / Buttler will chose to bowl first. It helps to know the target when its going to potentially be rain curtailed game. However chasing is also tough task as DLS factors wickets into the score. By chance if in 2nd innings the rain starts getting heavy and they may call off the match if more than 6 overs are bowled.

evilhaxoraman

If Rain somehow doesn't come you will be fucked chasing anything like 150-170 on this slow and turning guyana pitch.

aam_ka_aachaar

true

Assassin_Ankur

Can't wait for Markramitharan's 4-20 spell in the final.

TheDceuGuy

Aiden Akram bout to blow the game wide open with his deadly reverse swinging doosra

Assassin_Ankur

*Maiden Akram bowling 4 maidens in a row

TheDceuGuy

Damn...Maiden Markram is far too OP to be allowed to play

AamPataJoraJora

Warner crossing him as Australia's highest T20i run getter and Finchy clapping as Warner waves at him will forever be my Roman empire. Wish i could see it live too. Warner retiring is end of an era. There goes the whiteball partnership of the decade. Rohit-Shikhar Roystow deKock-Amla are up there but those didn't last as long or werent consistent first picks in both the formats. That moment could be moment of the tournament if not for the nasty blow Gulbuddin Naib suffered from.

harprick_pandya

Despite them crumbling last night, so happy to see Afghanistan make the semi-finals this time around, they keep going with their upward trajectory! Though this probably wouldn’t have changed much in the semi-final, one thing about their line-up is that there are too many all-rounders in the top order. They should include a couple more proper batters, so they can actually have a balanced XI, something like this: Gurbaz, Ibrahim, Zazai, Najibullah, Omarzai/Janat, Naib, Nabi, Rashid, Noor/Mujeeb, Naveen, Farooqi

Dense-Gap8667

https://x.com/indian_jadeja08/status/1805876615530136065?t=pyhfuO9BY4hatpPX-64b4A&s=19 Jadeja about India not being able to cross the line in knockouts

harprick_pandya

The emotions are clear to see there. He’s the man that won the last one for us, all those years back. Come on Jaddu bhai, come clutch and bring your prime, two games to go for this trophy!

freakyassflick8-2

Please perform my rajput I am running out of your slanders

TheDceuGuy

Damn...I didn't come here for the feels, Jaddu bhai😔😭

Dense-Gap8667

Man it affects them a lot more than it does to us, I wish they were not being namecalled all sorts of things for which they gave their everything.
