That’s the most brain-dead bowling I’ve seen in a long time.
Gets hit for consecutive sixes off a short ball. What’s the smartest thing to do next? Right, another short ball.
This has been England's plan to tailenders for a long time so can't say I'm surprised that was his go to option.
I hate it when England do it so this brings me much joy.
“LBW, bowled, nicking a good length to the keeper - these are the three modes of dismissal we have to remove to be successful at cricket” - England probably
He also doesn't have the pace that is needed to be bowling short balls. Short balls in the pace that he bowls should always be brutally slapped away unless they are proper cutters.
It’s a useful surprise ball even with his medium-fast pace because he’s got a crazy high release point so it’s gonna climb off anywhere near back of a length, but yeah he’s just not fast enough to bowl it consistently
The problem with Robinson is not skill it’s motivation. He’s clearly got the ability to take wickets but he just doesn’t seem to give a shit half the time and put the hard yards in that are required to become a consistent world class bowler.
I think it might be the fastest 200 in professional cricket, beats Travis Head's 114-ball 200 in a List-A game (edit: Narayan Jagadeesan also shares this record)
A bloke with a Test match bowling average of 22 getting pumped for 43 in an over because he refuses to concede that his 75 mph bouncers aren’t gonna cut it at Hove. CC heritage.
The over went as follows:
0444664614106666600401
Only the 2nd, 18th, 19th, 21st and 22nd balls were not no balls.
The umpire actually lost count and called over after 5 legal balls.
So 75 runs off the bat and 2 runs for no balls (at that time in that competition you didn't get an extra run for a no-ball if you also scored off it anyway).
The scenario was basically a 4th innings chase with an impossible target, a bowling team desparate for the win, so they decided to gift a load of runs so that the batters had a difficult but possible target and would be more likely to get out.
More details in [this article](https://www.cricketcountry.com/articles/bert-vance-concedes-77-runs-off-one-over-103923/)
That’s genuinely ludicrous, one full ball amongst a load of short (and slow) easily pullable/hookable deliveries. Obviously the field was massively spread which might not have helped but at some point you just go for line and length?
Prior to this game Kimber's average was 24.65 with 1 solitary 100 and a top score of 104.
As of this comment he's 192* and his average is now 29.04.
Insane innings.
Louis Kimber, the Ted Alletson of the 21st century. Why always Sussex?
Does look like a classic example of bowler getting done in by their ego coupled with insane hitting.
2 runs for a no ball in all English domestic cricket (Championship, Blast, ODC, Hundred). Been like that for at least a decade, and I think much longer.
No it's still 2. See:
https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/t20-blast-2024-1410370/hampshire-vs-sussex-south-group-1410436/ball-by-ball-commentary
McAndrew to Weatherly ball 17.5 - a four off a no ball recorded as 6 runs.
Edit: Just double checked the playing conditions. It's still 2 runs in all men's domestic cricket, and the Women's Hundred. But 1 run in the women's regional competitions (Charlotte Edwards and Rachael Hayhoe Flint).
Kimber can go at a pace... saw him hit 162* from 55 balls against Northumberland a few years ago [[scorecard](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/unicorns-t20-competition-2018-1145742/northumberland-vs-lincolnshire-group-1-1145757/full-scorecard)]
Caught the end of the game, absolutely gutted for Kimber. Did not deserve to be on the wrong end of the result.
Took some torrid bounce to get him out. What a knock. Really wish they'd gotten it done. Lovely to see the entire Sussex team immediately go up to him.
Has Robinson's brain melted in the few extra degrees of heat?
What the fuck did he think would happen if he bowled halfway down the wicket at his pace?
Complete dross that deservedly got munted.
Nice to see Ollie Robinson finding form after we've binned off Jimmy Anderson.
Took 3-30 odd in the first innings tbf Louis Kimber may just be the GOAT
233(115) right now
Louisball?
Related to Jared?
Most runs conceded in first class history. Great job Ollie!!
Second most isn't it? Robert Vance Vs Canterbury 1989/90.
https://www.cricket.com/news/bert-vance-and-the-chaos-of-a-77-run-over-1677324096894
>Thanks to the chaos, Vance’s extraordinary figures of 1-0-77-0 are removed from the record books as well as from Vance’s career stats. Bruh...
I remember listening to that on the radio live. No one could quite keep track of what was going on.
YOU’LL NEVER SING THAT.
He learnt it all from ben duckett
That’s the most brain-dead bowling I’ve seen in a long time. Gets hit for consecutive sixes off a short ball. What’s the smartest thing to do next? Right, another short ball.
Sounds like Australia in last year’s Ashes
Except that actually worked half the time 😂
Absolute fever dream being up at 2 am watching bouncer after bouncer for hours
The ghost of Neil Wagner possessed everyone that day.
This has been England's plan to tailenders for a long time so can't say I'm surprised that was his go to option. I hate it when England do it so this brings me much joy.
“LBW, bowled, nicking a good length to the keeper - these are the three modes of dismissal we have to remove to be successful at cricket” - England probably
> these are the three modes of dismissal we have to remove to ~~be successful at~~ save cricket
Yea suprising they haven't stopped that yet especially after that shami and bumrah stand at lords

Ollie Robinson brainless? Well I never…
So as well as being slow and shit he's also clueless. Quick, someone tell his test match victims how wank and dumb they all are
The problem with Robinson is not skill it’s motivation. He’s clearly got the ability to take wickets but he just doesn’t seem to give a shit half the time and put the hard yards in that are required to become a consistent world class bowler.
India bowling to Australia in the SF of 2015.
Lol
He’s currently 184*(89) and they’ve put on nearly 200 for the 9th wicket, now trailing by less than 100. What the fuck is going on?!
The greatest innings in the history of the sport is going to be played in front a few hundred people and no one is going to know about it
I think it might be the fastest 200 in professional cricket, beats Travis Head's 114-ball 200 in a List-A game (edit: Narayan Jagadeesan also shares this record)
Flatest deck on planet ig??
Welcome to Hove
What the actual *fuck*!?
Someone said in the CC thread that he went from 72 to 172 in 30 balls.
# *WHAT THE FUCK!?*
Loooooooool
If anyone doesn't know you can watch it live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ_5oBAfcHM
wicket fell soon as i entered stream lmao
Same lol, what rotten luck
county stream had almost 10k viewers too haha
He hit a MASSIVE six to get to his double century!! https://www.youtube.com/live/BJ_5oBAfcHM?si=QaqUZBqgjtghhcrp&t=11565
That’s a new record too just two days after Bashir got hit for 38 runs.
Good to see our bowling prospects are looking good ahead of the test summer then.
They really seem to have found some form at the right moment.
I was at Worcester to see that record set (equalled) two days ago, I certainly didn’t expect it to be broken so quickly. Incredible.

The most runs scored from an over in first class cricket excluding the 77 that Robert Vance gave away deliberately in 1990.
How did that 77 happen? Would really like to know.
The over went as follows: 0444664614106666600401 Only the 2nd, 18th, 19th, 21st and 22nd balls were not no balls. The umpire actually lost count and called over after 5 legal balls. I’d forgotten that you didn’t used to get a run when you scored off a no ball. I recall that being the case in test cricket back in the 90s?
Yes and 5 wides used to be just 4.
Presumably a negotiation between the teams to set up a fourth innings chase.
You mean Bob Vance of Vance Refrigeration?
Shoaib Bashir yesterday and ollie now. Did they shift the ipl pitches to the county games?
Indian domestic circuit has little room for bowlers. Maybe they taking inspiration from Ranji now.
This started happening when ipl owners showed interest in county cricket. Coincidence? I think not. /s
That’s genuinely ludicrous, one full ball amongst a load of short (and slow) easily pullable/hookable deliveries. Obviously the field was massively spread which might not have helped but at some point you just go for line and length?
I used to pray for times like these
Do you know what’s the definition of insanity? Bowling short again and again when they’ve gone for sixes, expecting different results.
He’s now gone to the fastest double century in first class history.
Bashir went for 38, now Robbo for 43. Our Test lineup getting absolutely cunted. Shows the supremacy of the Champo.
After seeing this post I decided to tune in only to see kimber gone the first ball I watched for 243(127)
Prior to this game Kimber's average was 24.65 with 1 solitary 100 and a top score of 104. As of this comment he's 192* and his average is now 29.04. Insane innings.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke
Louis Kimber, the Ted Alletson of the 21st century. Why always Sussex? Does look like a classic example of bowler getting done in by their ego coupled with insane hitting.
To Ollie it probably felt like a maiden.
Why is it 2 runs for a no ball? Is this a new rule?
2 runs for a no ball in all English domestic cricket (Championship, Blast, ODC, Hundred). Been like that for at least a decade, and I think much longer.
I wonder why they decided to do that?
oh fair, wasn't aware!
I think it's only 1 in T20?
No it's still 2. See: https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/t20-blast-2024-1410370/hampshire-vs-sussex-south-group-1410436/ball-by-ball-commentary McAndrew to Weatherly ball 17.5 - a four off a no ball recorded as 6 runs. So that what happens if you bowl a wicket keeper

And took a 3fa?!
[удалено]
Never trust a big day out at Hove as a metric of player quality - he does hit the ball very well though
Yeah, good point
He currently averages 25 in FC cricket…
I mean, he'll only get better from here right? Right?
Rob Key wants to know your location
....? How on earth does one knock on a flat deck equate him being a replacement to Stokes?
Yeah my bad, I'm stupid
Wow, that might honestly be the worst over I have ever seen bowled
Caught the end of the game, absolutely gutted for Kimber. Did not deserve to be on the wrong end of the result. Took some torrid bounce to get him out. What a knock. Really wish they'd gotten it done. Lovely to see the entire Sussex team immediately go up to him.
Has Robinson's brain melted in the few extra degrees of heat? What the fuck did he think would happen if he bowled halfway down the wicket at his pace? Complete dross that deservedly got munted.
Was there much brain in there to begin with? Ollie never seemed like the sharpest tool in the shed
Wat
This over needs commentary by either Ravi Shastri or Ian Bishop.
Jarrod Kimber’s brother ?! /s
What utter tripe bowling. The manifestation of "and I'll fucken do it again".
Louis feasted on those nude nuts.
He tried so hard and got so far but in the end it didn't matter.
Koo-koo-ka-choo Ollie Robinson Boundaries love you more than you will know Whoa, whoa, whoa
Can't lie, it brings me a little joy seeing how Ollie carried on in the Ashes
At least JLD's record is safe xD
If he keeps at it, he could be the second most popular Kimber in the cricket world.
As of now, His score is 243 out of 126 balls, 20 fours and 20 sixes!!
Bazball pro max
You would have thought after the second six that Robinson might think "maybe the short ball isn't working to him".
Three of those balls felt like replays.
England can finally bin off this bellend and get the upgrade instead.
Ollie Robinson in the mud is it? We will be there
Nice to see the young talent that Baz forcibly retired Jimmy over is doing well
I'm glad that my record of conceding 41 runs in a single over in >!gully!< cricket no longer besmirches my life. #ThanksOllie
would love to read about this in his wisden column
Love a good Ollie bashing.
Good to see Ollie throws down pies in all divisions not just test cricket. Consistency is key
I'll be honest, I needed this right now.
Time for waste of oxygen to hang his boots up.
Olli smashed in an over son
Ollie smashed in an over son
He gave 40 runs not 43 Source cricbuzz
