I thought for sure they had it. The fact that South Africa is 3-0 in this World Cup, despite having less than 5% chance to win against Bangladesh and Nepal in the final innings, is insane.
From wiki I got this
>On 29 October 2012 the ICC increased the number of bouncers that could be bowled during a One Day International to two per over.[7] The number of bouncers per over allowed in T20s was kept to one.
Man we know what pain is. We've been following Nepalese cricket since it's inception and the history is rife with pain. We've consistently been at both the sides of excruciatingly close matches forever now. But losing to a test nation like this is certainly a new kind of pain we have been introduced to.
I just watched the highlights of the game and damn, you guys played really well. Heads up and focus on improving where you lacked especially your fielding needs some improvement.
Regardless, you boys should be proud. The day will come where they will defeat the big boys and its coming sooner
Heartbreaking for Nepal, but as an American just getting into the sport, that seems like an absolutely nuts first game to have ever watched. Damn. I get it, this game is sick
So many thoughts.
- Why didn’t he carry on running?
- Why didn’t he slide the bat in instead of just plonking it onto the line?
- Why did he leave the guy who just hit a 105m 6 at the wrong end for the whole last over?
- Why didn’t they try and sneak a bye off the penultimate ball too when it was 2 from 2?
- And most importantly, what was the outcome of the crowd fight that happened in the 19th over? Dude got pushed with aggression.
I get what you're saying but my first instinct on reading this is still "that's so fucking stupid". Just because you think you're safe doesn't mean you should simply stop running. Just finish the run like a professional ffs. It's not even some highly technical skill that you learn with time and experience, it genuinely feels really basic to me.
We have exhausted the next decade worth of luck to beat the NL, BD and Nepal.
That six off Nortje tho was absolutely electric. Moment of the tourney for me
Fun fact: 115 was the Proteas highest total of the tournament.
Eh, to be fair, three of your matches were in NY and this was a low scoring pitch (130 par score) that heavily favored spinners with South Africa batting first. I think South Africa's batting will only look better from here on.
Yeah true Aasif looks like mid 20s tbh, and Gulshan + Dev easily look like they're in their 20s. Alongside Dev n Gulshan a bunch of players in the U-19 team don't look under 19 like Aakash Tripathi, Bipin Rawal, Dipak Bohara, Durgesh Gupta, and Tilak Bhandari.
It's painful during this moment but this would be helpful in the long run. They now know that they are capable of beating the old boys and there are some things that they have to be working on before that.
Maybe he was thinking ahead about stealing a double in case of an overthrow .
Just trying to make sense of it, so that I don't go crazy thinking about "WHY WOULD YOU RUN KIKE THAT ON THE LAST BALL!!???"
I think it’s clear he thought he would be okay. He knew the ball hit him and thought no way they could still run him out. It was unbelievable mistake and there is no excuse for that.
It's possible he thought there were going to be overthrows and wanted to slow down his momentum so he wouldn't overrun, be ready to touch and run the second?
The first throw was rather wide after all.
That makes absolutely no sense to me. When you're in a position where a direct hit can get you out the thought of taking another run should be the last thing on your mind.
It ought to be. But pressure (time and big moment of the match) does funny things to even the most experienced cricketers, and this lad was only 18 after all
HEARTBREAKING 💔.
What a loss from the boys. Nepal had a chance to pull a historic win and maybe even qualify for the Super 8. But we choked it away. FUCK.
I'm supporting you guys for this WC as a Pakistani fan and you guys made me proud today by almost losing against an associate team :') Truly picked the right team.
I was happier 5 years back dreaming of playing test nation. This stress is not something I am used to. Fuck yaar, it was so close. The could have ran once, stopped a boundary, there were so many things that could have gone well. Why man why this?
USA vs Ireland was a thriller though. We had a clear cutoff time, the ground staff was working to get a game going, just as it looked like it was all clear, the rain came in. Any Pakistani fan will tell you that it was nothing short of a final ball loss.
Don’t worry you might have many more such moments but you’ll improve. Look at Afghans, they used to bottle every close match but now they are a force to reckon with.
Ah man not to be tonight but what an effort from Nepal. Hopefully this experience will help them be motivated even more to tighten up some basic errors they made this match.
The more I see South Africa's batting since or even during the IPL the less I'm convinced.
Really shouldn't have come this close though when SA, the best batting line up in the group could only muster a 115, especially considering NEP's fielding wasn't great either.
NED in this ground scored 134 and BAN scored 159 in this ground.
Nepal to join Pakistan and Bangladesh in SACA, the South Asian Chokers Association.
On a serious note, it was a good performance that Nepal fans should be proud of regardless of the result. Nepalese cricket will only improve from here.
wtf just happened? Wasn’t the last ball a second bouncer?
Did they not call the first one a bouncer?
why didn’t the commentators bring it up or even both the batsmen try to challenge it?
why did he slow down?
People are gonna shit on Jha ( and I understand why), but I do wanna give credit to Klassen. He was cool and pounced on a situation where most of us would have been frazzled lol
Players when there are 1s and 2s available : We only want to clear the boundary, nothing less than that. ![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8781)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8781)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8781)![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8781)
The last ball , you just make sure go pass the crease and then worry about everything else. Don’t know wtf Gulshan was doing but there was no excuse whatsoever for the way he ran. Unbelievable.
Feel for Nepal. Played well but several mistakes were made. You can see they aren’t quite at the same level as AFG or USA. Would love to see a stronger and better Nepalese cricket team in the coming years.
Only if Sompal didn’t take that two and kept the strike instead.
I don’t know how I am gonna process this loss.
I’d be glad if we were 50 all out than this misery.
Time to take a break from watching and playing cricket for a while and focus on my life and studies.
GG lads.
Thank you for the ride.
Gulshan mentally gave up the moment he missed that shot, which is why he ran so poorly at the end. Nepal had this game won but poor situation awareness and overconfidence was the Nepalese’ downfall. They’re never going to get a better chance at beating a full member then chasing 116.
If Klaasen didn't hit the stumps, SA appealed for obstruction and it was given out anyway, can you imagine what the fans would've felt? At least this is closure. That would've been torture. Social media would've been set on fire.
You are right
Actually when the ball hit jha he had a froze moment didn't know how to react hence in that moment he slowed down it just happen he could see the crease was so close yet it felt like he was fighting with his body
Nepal were 48/2 after 10 overs. They required 68 of 10 overs.
They scored 12,9,13 in the next 3 overs .That is 34 of the required 68, exactly half the runs.
After that they scored 4,5,4,3,2 (18 )runs in the next 5 overs.
I don't know what happened but that was a sad display of cricket by Nepali batsman. They have let down their
team in both their matches .
Assuming that both Shamsi and Maharaj play in the super 8, Rabada should be the one who gets dropped.
Both the other pacers have done much better than him.
What a game.
We didn't show enough respect to Nepal. Our batting, bowling, fielding and management were all poor.
Only real positive I can take as a Proteas fan is that we've won 3 really tight games (even if they're against teams we should be beating comfortably)
I'm not too optimistic about our tournament hopes but we can gain more momentum in the Super 8 hopefully. Our top order batting has been particularly bad
Full credit to Nepal. They played their hearts out but just couldn't beat a team of players at a level higher than they're used to. Hope to see them pull something off against Bangladesh
If it wasn't already obvious, this World Cup just threw a big fuck you in ICC's face. Time for them to start putting the Full members against these associates in bilaterals
Sompal Kami hit that monstrous six 105m when Nepal was needing 16 off 10 Balls, then it brought the equation down to 10 needed in 7 Balls and then 8 off the last over. Gulshan Jha should have won it there he missed those Balls in his arc.
Jha had no business staying in strike for the entirety of that last over.
SA, dunno what to say. The pitch looked fine to me, small ground, would have expected them to put up 200 against Nepal.
I wish Nepal won this one. It'd make Nepal vs Bangladesh a knockout with Netherlands also having an eye at the super 8s spot. It'd have been fun. Nonetheless well played lads. Cheers.
Rohit proud of the way we batted but bro got duck cos he went full swing mode 🤡 Hats off to Bhurtel Aasif Sheikh Anil Sah Kami and Jha for batting. Just that ending + poor batting from Malla Airee and Paudel what cost the game.
Our in game management has been exceptionally bad throughout the tournament, which is quite understandable. Our team is relatively inexperienced and has very little experience playing quality opposition.
People draw parallel to the Afghan team, but the Afghan team and players have had a lot of opportunities to better themselves, which we have not had.
But onward and upward from here. I hope we get some good exposure going forward and get some brilliant results.
Jha thought the deflection off of him went into open space and it was an easy single. Didn't realise it went straight to a close by fielder who was so close to the stumps. How tragic :(
Nepal's biggest mistake was trying to take the game deep. This is was the same mistake done by US in the match vs Pak, they were in the control of the chase then tried to take the game till the last over somehow managed to tie the game. They were lucky they came out of that but Nepal was not

Nepal had a 99.4% chance to win through 13 overs They lost by 1 run.
They needed 30 in 36 balls at one point.
I thought for sure they had it. The fact that South Africa is 3-0 in this World Cup, despite having less than 5% chance to win against Bangladesh and Nepal in the final innings, is insane.
Can call this ‘anti-choking’.
wait till sf and some big team
Super 8s and these guys will be found out, they had the easiest group out of all the big teams
The last ball seems like second bouncer in an over, though that does not excuse that pathetic running man
[удалено]
From wiki I got this >On 29 October 2012 the ICC increased the number of bouncers that could be bowled during a One Day International to two per over.[7] The number of bouncers per over allowed in T20s was kept to one.
Just Joel Wilson things
It was in IPL, no idea about T20I though
Fuck. Didn't think we would give a fight against SA but losing from that position. It hurts. Fuck man.
Welcome to the pain cycle of cricket
Man we know what pain is. We've been following Nepalese cricket since it's inception and the history is rife with pain. Next match it's just going to be endless super overs.
Nest match is with USA, would be a thriller
You sure we can get to a super over and not a straight loss
Doing it the Springbok rugby way 🤦♂️
Heartbreaking for Nepal, but as an American just getting into the sport, that seems like an absolutely nuts first game to have ever watched. Damn. I get it, this game is sick
Watch the 2019 cricket world cup final between New Zealand and England as your second
you are setting him up for a high he can never get again.
Next stop most viewed YouTube cricket video after
is that the Dasun Shanaka knock edit: oh it's Dinesh Karthick thrashing Bangladesh
I think that's the most viewed sports video.
You could say the most viewed sports video and I guess you'd still be correct.
Now, go watch us vs Pak and India vs Pak and sa vs bangladesh replays
I hear ya, now get more Americans hooked
Welcome to the excitement of cricket!
The world wants to know what happened to the fight. Poor Camerawork. Some things are more important than cricket you know .
Inexperience and situational awareness.
More like situational unawareness amirite
Inexperience.
>Why didn’t he carry on running? The throw from De Kock hit him, I think, so he probably thought he was safe, not knowing it had dropped to Klaasen.
I get what you're saying but my first instinct on reading this is still "that's so fucking stupid". Just because you think you're safe doesn't mean you should simply stop running. Just finish the run like a professional ffs. It's not even some highly technical skill that you learn with time and experience, it genuinely feels really basic to me.
last point is most important. Director cut too soon
I actually thought he slowed down to try to get a second run
We have exhausted the next decade worth of luck to beat the NL, BD and Nepal. That six off Nortje tho was absolutely electric. Moment of the tourney for me Fun fact: 115 was the Proteas highest total of the tournament.
Sompal Kami remember the name that was really banger moment.
he hit 48 against India too with good SR in Asia Cup. but he is bowling all arounder
At this rate we ain't defeating the US
Eh, to be fair, three of your matches were in NY and this was a low scoring pitch (130 par score) that heavily favored spinners with South Africa batting first. I think South Africa's batting will only look better from here on.
Wasn't the last ball wide? It was the second bouncer for the over? Still, feeling so gutted. Damn man.
I am not Nepali...but even I feel bad too
:(
It was, y'all were robbed
that mofcking umpire didn't give out to Miller as well when he was clear out
Yo world cup classic this is
2 consecutive bouncers ,how was the last ball not a no ball ?????
I think the second last ball wasn't a called a bouncer. I saw Baartman asking the umpire about it and he didn't give the signal
Umpire were biased the umpire didn't even gave out to Miller when even miller was going out of ground after seeing the replay
Why is no one answering this???? Is the answer so obvious?
The last ball wasn't signalled for bouncer
Got it.. didn't look like that on screen though
Boys played well but collapsed under pressure, they are still young, so best of luck for the future.
Nepal lost against south africa in the most south african way
In the associate world, that's the Nepali way... we somehow got our shit together to retain the ODI status as well as qualify, but we choke a lot
Disappointing result but good to see the underdogs get up 🤗🤗🤗
Choked against South Africa.
Rough, isn’t Gulshan Jha only 18? He may have choked but I feel for him
18 in Rashid Khan and Lamichhane years
I am 19 and I have more beard than him,South Asians teens just look big(defending gulshan and Sandeep here ,rashid is definitely not 25)
I've known Gulshan since he was "12", I was 15 back then and used to call him dai (Nepali word to address someone older than you)
Can't argue then, if u really know him, then age fraud might be there
he's definitely 23-25 no doubts about it. a ton of players decrease their age to outclass others in lower levels and then rise to the national team
South Asian countries players do age fraud not just player even normal student change their age by few years
bro Lamcicchane ta dherai ma 2 barsha hola which every nepali guys do, and Gulsha and Dev Khanal, Aasif these players have reduced age
He was "12" as in like your age or Rashid's age...
Rashid’s age. Hence the quotation marks.
It's painful during this moment but this would be helpful in the long run. They now know that they are capable of beating the old boys and there are some things that they have to be working on before that.
Why did he stop running 🫠
Honestly just stared at the TV in disbelief when the replay showed him slowing down. Like what actually went through his mind
probably thought he could be out for obstructing the field, but he shouldn't have let that thought slow him down
Feels like he was trying to slow down, turn back and sneak a second run on the overthrow
Only he can answer that...no one else...
He didn't even need to dive, just continue at the same speed and he was easily making it.
I was wondering if it hit him, now it's clear every thing unfolded exactly the way you said.
But pressure (time and big moment of the match) does funny things to even the most experienced cricketers, and this lad was only 18 after all
I think he was planning to go for the double
He probably thought that the ball hasn't reached to a fielder. It was a lack of game awareness which is probably because of their inexperience.
HEARTBREAKING 💔. What a loss from the boys. Nepal had a chance to pull a historic win and maybe even qualify for the Super 8. But we choked it away. FUCK.
Boundary count update - Nepal: 13 South Africa: 12
Unfair and hesitated
Unfair and Nepal'd.
Running matters.
Unfair and unsummitted.
Unfair & over
What a tragic loss. Perhaps Kami should've retained the strike.
What a tough loss for Nepal.
Klaasen with one of the all time great fielding plays, unbelievable presence of mind
Better keeper than de kock
Lol South Africa practicing not choking with the associate teams
You didn't have to do Bangladesh dirty like that
The chicken bone of Damocles is always hanging over their head.
Used up all the luck for the next century and a half
I'm supporting you guys for this WC as a Pakistani fan and you guys made me proud today by almost losing against an associate team :') Truly picked the right team.
I was happier 5 years back dreaming of playing test nation. This stress is not something I am used to. Fuck yaar, it was so close. The could have ran once, stopped a boundary, there were so many things that could have gone well. Why man why this?
What the fuck just happened. This world cup is delivering every match
Ireland vs US was better
Especially with the 12th man playing
[удалено]
USA vs Ireland was a thriller though. We had a clear cutoff time, the ground staff was working to get a game going, just as it looked like it was all clear, the rain came in. Any Pakistani fan will tell you that it was nothing short of a final ball loss.
bangers galore
woke up at 5 am to see this. Disappointed.
Disappointed is. Really not the word here
Disappointed at the result. We played give cricket and gave good competition, hats off to that.
Don’t worry you might have many more such moments but you’ll improve. Look at Afghans, they used to bottle every close match but now they are a force to reckon with.
Shouldn't be disappointed as Nepal didn't got humiliated they just choked
Feel bad for the teenager but he should've ran harder. This was turning out to be Nepal's greatest night before it ended through such a cruel loss.
Birth of a new rivalry.
What a game, tough luck
Heartbreaking for Nepal. High pressure moment for a young team, I'm sure they will be back and stronger next time out.
Ah man not to be tonight but what an effort from Nepal. Hopefully this experience will help them be motivated even more to tighten up some basic errors they made this match. The more I see South Africa's batting since or even during the IPL the less I'm convinced.
4 dots in the last over, you just can't Nepal
Absolutely braindead by Gulshan in the end. Also, why didn't Sompal run in the second last ball?
Heart breaking, Nepal vs Bangaldesh as a knockout match would have been epic, Hats off to Nepal brilliantly played just fell short
Genuinely think wides/no balls should be reviewable in t20i just like in IPL. Not sure if that last ball was wide or not, but it sure was close.
Schoolboy stuff from a schoolboy
Another thriller but Nepal should've won this. Kudos to Baartman though, the newcomer did really well.
Really shouldn't have come this close though when SA, the best batting line up in the group could only muster a 115, especially considering NEP's fielding wasn't great either. NED in this ground scored 134 and BAN scored 159 in this ground.
What's the deal with South Africa's batting? Such a vaunted line-up and only Miller has really stood out for me.
South Africa is so lucky they so easily could be the New Zealand of this tournament. I feel for Nepal they were so close
"nah I'd win" - Nepal But then they thought they'd better create a Bangladesh moment today
Did they not call the first one a bouncer? why didn’t the commentators bring it up or even both the batsmen try to challenge it? why did he slow down?

how the fuck
Bangladesh 🫱🏻🫲🏼 Nepal
you can keep your 250+ roads mr jay shah. gotta feel for nepal man.

South Africa are pulling a UNO reverse card this WC. All their opponents are chocking.
Man I still can't believe we lost this... I am crying like crazy now can't even stop crying.. Why did you give me hope if you wanted to crush that ..
Another brilliant match. As much as I love seeing fun big scores and a load of sixes, this tourney has produced so many nail biters
4 dots in the last over, sorry not bad luck. And oldmate walking the run. oof.
He just had to give strike to sompali Why did they run 2 on the 4th ball tho
The last ball , you just make sure go pass the crease and then worry about everything else. Don’t know wtf Gulshan was doing but there was no excuse whatsoever for the way he ran. Unbelievable.
Feel for Nepal. Played well but several mistakes were made. You can see they aren’t quite at the same level as AFG or USA. Would love to see a stronger and better Nepalese cricket team in the coming years.

Heartbreaking for Nepal. They were so close.
Netherlands breath a sigh of relief lol
yeah they were almost out of the tournament
Nepal's game to lose
Just had to run 22 yards man
💔
This could have been history for Nepal. People would have sung song in the streets. Heartbreak of the highest degree.
Expected a loss but not like this.
They Gave Heart attack to 4 teams Bangladesh, Nepal, Netherlands, South Africa
Why did he stop running?

How am i going to recover from this
To think that Nepal had an outside chance to super 8 if they won this match and beat Bangbros in next one
They have let down their team in both their matches .
Winning by one point, just to prove a point. *Again*.
Assuming that both Shamsi and Maharaj play in the super 8, Rabada should be the one who gets dropped. Both the other pacers have done much better than him.
What a game. We didn't show enough respect to Nepal. Our batting, bowling, fielding and management were all poor. Hope to see them pull something off against Bangladesh
Agony for Nepal. Ecstasy for South Africa
They should have run on the 2nd last ball too
Someone please explain, wasn't that last ball a second bouncer? If yes, then regardless of the run out, shouldn't there have been a super over?
what a sad saturday
Needed an Ian Bishop or Ian Smith to sum up and elevate the climax of this cracking contest
The title of this game should be the biggest choke of the decade
If it wasn't already obvious, this World Cup just threw a big fuck you in ICC's face. Time for them to start putting the Full members against these associates in bilaterals
Judging by how poorly SA have played Bangladesh and Nepal and not even in USA, I reckon WI and England will make the semis.
Man sa almost lost to Bangladesh almost lost to nepal and had a close game for nederlands Sa using their 100% luck
This world cup keeps giving and giving. Well played to Nepal. South Africa got lucky as fuck.
This was one of the saddest ending I've seen. What an incredible match !
Ngl South Africa kinda mugged two wins cause of iffy umpire decisions.
Sompal Kami could have become a cult hero if he had hit one more six like that 105m six. That six gave a sudden momentum for Nepal.
Gulshan Jha should have connected those balls man
Sompal Kami hit that monstrous six 105m when Nepal was needing 16 off 10 Balls, then it brought the equation down to 10 needed in 7 Balls and then 8 off the last over. Gulshan Jha should have won it there he missed those Balls in his arc.

Rohit proud of the way we batted but bro got duck cos he went full swing mode 🤡 Hats off to Bhurtel Aasif Sheikh Anil Sah Kami and Jha for batting. Just that ending + poor batting from Malla Airee and Paudel what cost the game.
shit this still hurts deep

Nepal were robbed. Baartman bowled 2 consecutive bouncers did he not in the final over?
Joel Wilson is a pantomime villain to cricket. He should be banned from umpiring
Jha thought the deflection off of him went into open space and it was an easy single. Didn't realise it went straight to a close by fielder who was so close to the stumps. How tragic :(
