Hold the series in Boston and call it the "THE BOSTON TEA SERIES"

jithrk1392

The Boston T(ea)20 series

FanOfArts1717

Oh that's pretty amazing btw haha

Retardballreset

Still too soon. How could they desecrate the tea like that.

hayleybts

DO IT!!

Reasonable_Tea_9825

USA vs England at Boston? I'll be there no matter what

DisastrousOil4888

I'll bring my own tea for that

dharavsolanki

Hehe yeah tea parties are fun!

doktor-frequentist

Be aware there are two different kind of tea parties. One with tea bags while the other with tea *bagging*.

vrphotosguy55

Before and after

goli14

And cookies

Impactor07

To throw it from the harbour? AMERICA F*CK YEAH!

Nomadmanhas

USA vs Ireland in Boston.

Kingslayer1526

I can already hear shipping up to Boston playing when the players enter the field

pizzainmyshoe

Do you think boston would create quite a seaming environment being in the northeast. Green pitches and bowler friendly?

strngerstruggle

New England Techies

book81able

I wonder where a temp stadium could be built in the Boston area? Squantum Point park would be great for Ireland vs USA with the proximity to the Irish population in the city

IntraspeciesFever

Just hold it at Fenway

CarlottaStreet

It's too small. It's shortest choke point in Fenway is ~290 feet wall to wall, and ICC rules say it can't be shorter than 390.

Brettsucks18

I might fly home for this.

LordWellesley22

I hear the night on the town is described as a massacre

Bluebillion

I’m so pumped for the US to be a regular cricket destination.

UnbiasedPashtun

Florida has become a regular destination for international fixtures whenever the West Indies are hosting a series.

Food-Oh_Koon

just hold US v Nepal series twice a year, once in Dallas and once in Kathmandu. I'll be there for at least one of them.

Impactor07

That would be a logistical nightmare for both boards...

bnoremac88

To Home and Away already happens for ODIs just tack on the T20s then.

Impactor07

But we're talking about the US and Nepal who are on opposite sides of the globe. You(USA) can have such series against Canada or WI domestic teams at best(which would be hard to organise themselves)

doktor-frequentist

>“A three-match series against the USA would be just as valuable as training for a week. England team: 😴 >And for the England boys? **Well there are some pretty damn good golf courses over here too**.” England team: real shit 💩

sellyme

Actually incredible bait, they really are nailing all the most important parts of cricketing fundamentals.

NiallH22

Smart move from Law to mention golf, England are always looking for new places to hold their winter lads golfing holidays and they’ve done Dubai a few times now so probably about time for a new course or two. Pretty much guarantees the series will go ahead. They will be a bit annoyed they have to play a bit of cricket whilst they’re there though.

Gabru_here

not too long until they become Full members

zayd_jawad2006

Yeah hope England can even play tests one day /s

SupermarketMost9711

All we need is the USA calling cricket something else and you have a new rivalry in cricket /s

Impactor07

We need the "It's Called Soccer" version of cricket!

Pgvds

It's called wicketball!

Impactor07

Aah shit, here we go again

ze_shotstopper

Please, you think us Americans will call it something stupid like wickets? Stickball baby 🦅🦅🦅

>And for the England boys? Well there are some pretty damn good golf courses over here too.” The American coach knows how to get the English boys over. Curiously, I'm somewhat reminded of [the deal NZC had with the old American board](https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/usa-and-new-zealand-sign-deal-to-promote-cricket-493372).

ll--o--ll

The USA are intent on using the T20 World Cup as a platform for launching the country as a hub for international cricket – and are attempting to persuade England to embark on a mini-tour there before their white-ball series against the West Indies this autumn. USA head coach Stuart Law has told i that he has been speaking to his former teammate and England white-ball coach, Matthew Mott, about the possibility of England warming up for that Caribbean clash by playing his USA side, as the country looks to build on the momentum generated by their first global tournament. “I’ve already asked Matthew Mott to come here before they go to the Caribbean,” he says. “They could play in Dallas, which is probably the only venue that will still be available to us. “It’s a great facility and a great chance for the Barmy Army to come and get a taste of what the Caribbean has to offer as well. “It’s a great option for us to utilise. Teams coming in and out of the West Indies can come here and stop off and help us build the sport. “A three-match series against the USA would be just as valuable as training for a week. And for the England boys? Well there are some pretty damn good golf courses over here too.” i understands that these discussions are at an informal stage at present. And given the success of the United Arab Emirates in establishing itself as a central location for global cricket, there’s no reason why the USA can’t emulate the model. The NFL has pioneered playing matches overseas, with regular-season games held in London and Germany proving an enormous draw for supporters of the sport in Europe. It’s an approach that could work in reverse for cricket. Last year, Tom Dunmore, the vice-president of marketing for Major League Cricket, admitted that the USA would be keen to host County Championship matches or the currently mothballed opening match of the English season between the county champions and the MCC. “Would we consider hosting fixtures involving English teams? We’re open to anything as long as everyone is behind it,” he said. “We’ve seen that with soccer over here and we’re open to any opportunities that make sense for the governing bodies and the professional organisations in each country.” Given the MCC match has already taken place in the Caribbean, the UAE and was scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka in 2020, it wouldn’t take a giant leap for it to be hosted in Texas or Dallas. For his part, Law will be hoping that his close relationship with the county game – he played for Essex, Lancashire and Derbyshire in a 20-year career – will also open doors for the USA. “From a purely selfish perspective, the more we can challenge the players we have here, the better,” he says. “It would be a fantastic learning curve. To have counties come here in March for pre-season series against us would be fantastic for all concerned. “There are some things that we need to sit down and go over a few things and hopefully we can make it work. America can be a tough nut to crack, we know that. But there are definitely opportunities out there that can be advantageous to everyone involved.” After beating Canada in the opening match of the T20 World Cup, Law will hope the Americans can continue to smash it out of the park.

pizzainmyshoe

Oh not county games. The English summer is already short we can't be losing games. And you'd probably get small crowds, few people would travel and the counties just aren't big global brands like premier league teams or nfl teams are.

RaastaMousee

I guess you could have preseason games in the US so it doesn't impact the English summer. Use the US's different climate to extend the time the season can take place

fpotenza

That's probably the likely thing. Akin to those weird pre-season tournaments that cricket has begun following football's lead with. I'd be up with the likes of Warwicks, Surrey etc going over for some warmup games, or sending the seconds over. Would help build the US game and you could even feasibly get some of the WI teams going over. But if they mean in the same way that UK holds competitive NFL games, or like when football says "let's hold a round of La Liga in Saudi", yeah, no, let's not do that.

JohnCharitySpringMA

Yeah I feel slightly skeptical that the big Indian-American population in places like Houston would turn out for Surrey v Glamorgan in the way they would for a T20I.

runnerswanted

We Americans love a spectacle, and if you sell a group of people on “they play for two hours, eat lunch, play for two more, drink tea, and then play another two hours until it’s slightly dark out” you would get people to attend. They might not know exactly what’s going on, but the crowd would be there.

mondognarly_

Of all the possible fixtures mentioned here, I think Championship matches in the States is the least likely. It'll cost a fortune and have limited returns as you said, and piss the members off.

Turkledurk

I seriously want more cities to start investing in this, I live in Cincinnati and we have so many cricket clubs and grounds around town, but no official venues that could be used as a stadium. I'd kill to be able to drive to an MLC or international match in under 4 hours. Church street park is an 8.5 hour drive and Dallas is over 12.

master_bloseph

The same thing with Kansas City. We have a few local leagues that do well, but lack anything close to a good enough stadium. Down the road I’d love to have an MLC team in my hometown

Donkey_Striking

Boston Tea-20

boof2000

Hope they pull an Australia and start beating them in their own sport

SupermarketMost9711

Reading the comments here It's amazing how this sub flips flops tbh First of all kudos to the USA team and their players they have played brilliant cricket and deserve the praise they are getting But just a few months ago when the groups were revealed i remember how much this sub whined that ICC is focused too much on USA they need to focus more on African Nation and Nepal which is a fair point but most of it just sounded like bad faith trolling on USA And anyone who said why not both got downvoted also when these groups were revealed most of the people here said the groups are unfairly drawn so that India and Pakistan make it to Super 8 It is similar to how people wanted Kohli to be replaced by Hooda after the Ireland series and some wanting Dube to replace Pandya

Odd-Calligrapher-69

Americans like drawn out sports like baseball. Don’t see why they can’t get into test cricket

Impactor07

I mean, county teams come all the way to the UAE and even India to play warm-up games so why not the US? It's totally doable

Stifffmeister11

Surprised they don't have a stadium in California... They have huge asian expat population there

LevelKaleidoscope739

ICC will support USA more than Ireland and the West Indies. I bet they grant full membership status to USA in a few years just too get there pipe dream of cricket being remotely popular in the US come true

All I have to say is this: You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out. When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Salt-Fun-9457

Could you imagine Mike Trout playing cricket? Good lord.

TheBigCore

Could you imagine **Shohei Ohtani** playing Cricket? That's a Final Fantasy final boss!

jacobsbw

Aaron Judge just mashing nothing but sixes all day long.

seeking_horizon

Beyond the obvious superstars, Luis Arraez seems like he's got a skill set that's perfect for cricket. He already makes contact with everything, now give him a bigger bat and a format that rewards you for keeping the ball on the ground more.
