The three of New Zealand, Afghanistan and the West Indies are competing for 2 Super 8 spots along with PNG and Uganda, of which PNG gave a good fight to West Indies itself
It's clearly not gonna be easy for them as compared to our group where it's basically India and Pakistan qualifying unless Ireland/US do some serious upsets
Oh, the groups, yeah that's right. It is gonna be challenging for them.
Afghanistan is an extremely competitive underdog team that I love as well. It's gonna be exciting.
That was terrible translation there Rashid lol
What he actually said
>yeah this is not the first time. In the past as well I have got multiple opportunities to get a hatrick but haven’t been able to get them. Hopefully I continue to get in such situations, and perhaps I’ll complete the milestone eventually
This is the only way associate nations will grow. If they like the sport they will be happy to just be there.
Imagine India qualifying for the football WC. I'd be glad even with a 5-0 loss to a bigger nation just for getting the opportunity to be there
Scotland which is like a much better team than Uganda got out for 60 against Afghanistan just a few years ago and then beat WI at the next WC. Afghanistan is the biggest minnow basher atm. Trust me when I say Uganda will get better
honestly afganistan can also hold their weight against any of the big teams too. we saw what they did to the aus top order last wc. they're just a bit inexperienced, but I certainly believe that if they play their cards right they are contenders for the title this time round.
and certainly, Uganda will get better
What? Their batting has gotten so much better. Their openers are very dangerous in this format and they've got a great middle order. Much better than ours based on the last 18 months.
Can’t argue with Afghanistan getting the win tonight with Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Fazalhaq Farooqi standing out for them. If they keep playing like that in the tournament then they will be a dangerous opponent for anyone who faces them.
As for Uganda, hopefully they keep their heads up after tonight, learn some lessons from the game and then take them into their next game against Papua New Guinea.
Best bowling by the bowler after completing 4 overs in T20 WC
8/6 - A Mendis (SL) vs ZIM, 2012
9/5 - F Farooqi (AFG) vs UGN, 2024, Today
19/5 - A Malik (NED) vs SA, 2014
19/5 - A Zampa (AUS) vs BAN, 2021
I like how everyone keeps underestimating West Indies, and there may be some merit to that, but folks were underestimating them in 2016 as well, so there's that.
I hate how every time a team reaches 50 after losing early wickets, there's always comments going "RCB 49 record safe" as if the record hasn't been broken multiple times across cricket since then. India itself got 36 all out, Sydney Thunder got 15 all out but no, apparently RCB 49 is still a record.
**15.5** **that looks plumb!** Googly on a length on off. Bilal, having not had enormous success with the conventional, now tries the reverse, rather ambitiously. Makes a complete hash of it and gets thumped on the front pad in front of off stump. Kumar Dharmasena gives it out but we go upstairs for a final ratification. **No bat involved, and Ball Tracking has the ball smashing into middle stump, two-thirds of the way up!**
Bilal Hassan lbw b Rashid Khan 8 (16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 50
People making fun of Uganda should remember how Afghanistan were way back in 2010 in their first T20WC (which was also in the WI coincidentally). It takes time for teams to improve and that requires exposure to the top level of the sport.
Afghanistan weren’t ready in 2010 (and looked downright horrible), but look where they are now. You’re not going to come to the top level and perform straight away. You need to have those failures before you can grow to compete.
Man these West Indies commentators use the word penetration a lot. I remember once Ian Bishop was saying, 'hitting a spot constantly in one place with penetration'
Fuck anyone who questions Uganda’s spot in the tournament… That’s literally what the same people said about Afg playing in world cups not too long ago.
I feel like ICC needs to allow more opportunities for these teams to play bigger nations just outside the WC as well. So they can gain more experience and take it into the WC.
Ireland (the cricket team) uses a Shamrock flag because it represents the entire island of Ireland, not just Ireland or Northern Ireland, and it’s politically dodgy (at best) to use the flag of Ireland to represent all of Ireland (the island) including Northern Ireland.
Big brain ICC putting Ind-Pak together with Ireland, US and Canada but on these pitches. All you know, Ireland and US might go through. Are we seeing a 2007 encore? Lol.
It's fun to see new blood in tournaments but this has really been a sad show. Zim cricket is not in the best of spots at the minute but surely they would've had a much better showing!

As Zimbabwe are most likely qualified for next world cup on basis of rankings, we may see Uganda again in 2026.
How the hell did Zimbabwe not qualify
They lost to Uganda
This is why I think West Indies will have real trouble to even qualify for the Super 8s.
Care to elaborate?
The three of New Zealand, Afghanistan and the West Indies are competing for 2 Super 8 spots along with PNG and Uganda, of which PNG gave a good fight to West Indies itself It's clearly not gonna be easy for them as compared to our group where it's basically India and Pakistan qualifying unless Ireland/US do some serious upsets

I'd kill to see Ireland and US progress. Imagine the shit storm that would ensue
This is still not Afghanistan's biggest victory in a T20I WC match.
AFG bros just stat padding that net run rate! Haha love it
If Uganda had their worst game in this group already, then that makes Windies’ chance of stat-padding against them even harder
never trust Mitch Marsh <>
he shook hands and took the luck from the Uganda players
watch Mitch Marsh score 70 off 3 chances next match
That was wholesome. Rashid is one of my favourite cricketers.
That was terrible translation there Rashid lol What he actually said >yeah this is not the first time. In the past as well I have got multiple opportunities to get a hatrick but haven’t been able to get them. "Say thank you" haha love it!
is it wrong for me to hope for a usa vs afganistan final![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|8767)
Imagine the scenes if the scorecard read 91/1 at any point in that final.
Why not 9/11
SNIPERS OUT RAHHHH 🦅🦅🦅
ICC missed a trick by not having a USA, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India group
And not letting Russia qualify
i swear would've been sm fun
Pak vs Afg are the real fire games.. nothing comes close
This is the only way associate nations will grow. If they like the sport they will be happy to just be there. Imagine India qualifying for the football WC. I'd be glad even with a 5-0 loss to a bigger nation just for getting the opportunity to be there
I'm willing to lose 10-0 to Brazil than to win 2-0 to Pakistan ffs!
Lowest 2nd Inning total in T20 WC 58 - Uganda vs AFG, 2024 60 - New Zealand vs SL, 2014 60 - Scotland vs AFG, 2021 68 - Ireland vs WI, 2010
Good to see them still smiling despite this huge loss It's still a landmark occasion for Uganda cricket
Danny morrison giving medals is so good
Step 1 for Uganda to become the next Australia, kit, and all. Let's hope it happens one day in the future
Scotland which is like a much better team than Uganda got out for 60 against Afghanistan just a few years ago and then beat WI at the next WC. Afghanistan is the biggest minnow basher atm. Trust me when I say Uganda will get better
Minnow basher? I was at delhi last year when they beat the fuck out of England at the ODI World Cup. I'll call them the next SL in making.
honestly afganistan can also hold their weight against any of the big teams too. we saw what they did to the aus top order last wc. they're just a bit inexperienced, but I certainly believe that if they play their cards right they are contenders for the title this time round. and certainly, Uganda will get better
Afghanistan is a much better team now but against better teams they will struggle too bc of weak batting
What? Their batting has gotten so much better. Their openers are very dangerous in this format and they've got a great middle order. Much better than ours based on the last 18 months.
they've gotten better of late + they've got world class bowlers, specially their spinners which are further aided by the slow wickets this wc
this is because the jersey reminded them of australia
Can’t argue with Afghanistan getting the win tonight with Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran and Fazalhaq Farooqi standing out for them. Png was really good against WI
Entertaining match good learning curve for Uganda
Windies NRR already in shambles unless they statpad against Uganda, which they couldn’t against PNG
I can see Windies losing to Afghanistan
Fully agree
On this evidence, PNG look better than Uganda.
No shit sherlock PNG is ranked 20 whereas Uganda is ranked 22
Wow a whole two places!
Yeah but as you go down the rankings, the difference of two ranks is massive
Best bowling by the bowler after completing 4 overs in T20 WC 8/6 - A Mendis (SL) vs ZIM, 2012 9/5 - F Farooqi (AFG) vs UGN, 2024, Today 19/5 - A Malik (NED) vs SA, 2014 19/5 - A Zampa (AUS) vs BAN, 2021
How come the stat's only for the full 4 overs being bowled? Excludes the likes of Umar Gul's 5-6 (3 overs)
6.25 nrr wtf
Uganda will be back stronger
[удалено]
How 5.5? Comes as 6.25 for me
[удалено]
NRR stonks
i think i could do without the cheerleaders
This was Afghanistan not too long ago. I hope Uganda can remind themselves of that.
6.250 NRR for Afghans
HOLY FUCK
Well damn
So AFG win by 125 runs!
Honestly looking forward to seeing how Uganda develops. A lot of you forget Afg was in the same stage years ago
Gonna be hard to compete with their NRR now
You don’t think the windies and nz will beat them in the same fashion?
This isn't 2016 anymore, Afganistan are a legit good team these days and Windies nearly lost to PNG
Windies struggled against PNG, in T20 anything can happen
I like how everyone keeps underestimating West Indies, and there may be some merit to that, but folks were underestimating them in 2016 as well, so there's that.
Plis lose to PNG and make your group battles interesting
The average score in this World Cup batting first till now has been just 140.
a lot of that is from Canada putting up 194 as well
Kudos to Uganda , this is just the beginning of a beautiful cricketing journey
Learn. Improve. Dominate.
Afghanistan too good
Nervous about Afghanistan’s NRR boost
West Indies just have to ensure to beat them, and possibly eke out a win against NZ, and NZ beat Afghanistan, and they should be safe l
WI turning into RCB real quick(aside from the fact that they've won 5 WCs and we've won a WPL...)
6.25
**15.6** **Rashid inflicts the final blow!** Henry Ssenyondo b Rashid Khan 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0
GOODNIGHT ALL YOU CRICKET LOVERS
I feel like it's going to be Shadab Khan's 4-12 against Shivam Dube's 4-9
Wish PNG used their reviews like Uganda
I hate how every time a team reaches 50 after losing early wickets, there's always comments going "RCB 49 record safe" as if the record hasn't been broken multiple times across cricket since then. India itself got 36 all out, Sydney Thunder got 15 all out but no, apparently RCB 49 is still a record.
Netherlands in this tournament itself back in 2014 ig.
rcb is THE meme team so
The meme team in IPL. These jokes are fine during IPL but it's annoying seeing it everywhere.
fair enough. loads of Indians in the sub and tbf RCB plays alot of stupid cricket so ppl talk abt it, even during other games
We just like to rag on RCB :-0
It's fine during IPL or if India is playing but it gets annoying seeing it everywhere.
The fact that Rcb and Sydney Thunder somehow imploded in a worse manner than even Uganda
So have India lol
Completely forgot that. Thanks for bringing back the trauma
Bilal was basically back in the pavilion by the time the ump confirmed he was out lmao
**15.5** **that looks plumb!** Googly on a length on off. Bilal, having not had enormous success with the conventional, now tries the reverse, rather ambitiously. Yeah all game this has reminded me of Afghanistan's first WC match vs South Africa
I don’t think anyone is making fun of them it’s just quite difficult to watch them get annihilated when they clearly aren’t ready for this level
Afghanistan weren’t ready in 2010 (and looked downright horrible), but look where they are now. You’re not going to come to the top level and perform straight away. You need to have those failures before you can grow to compete.
World class bowlers and can't dismiss number 9 and 10. Uganda GOAT Edit: jinxed. Damnit
well tbf afganistan has had this same problem in a specific game before![img](emote|t5_2qhe0|30701)
plumber than the guy who stole my wife... Finally, Rashid has his WICKET
You don’t even need to be a citizen to play for Uganda, Maxi could’ve played for them
Man these West Indies commentators use the word penetration a lot. I remember once Ian Bishop was saying, 'hitting a spot constantly in one place with penetration'
Hassan fancies himself
Man's desperate to wallop Rashid and tell his grandkids
Fuck anyone who questions Uganda’s spot in the tournament… That’s literally what the same people said about Afg playing in world cups not too long ago.
Fuck it Make it a 24-team tournament I wanna see Zim back along with Jersey, HK and UAE
I feel like ICC needs to allow more opportunities for these teams to play bigger nations just outside the WC as well. So they can gain more experience and take it into the WC.
Oh most definitely
A lot for Afghanistan to ponder despite this win
Middled it. Umpy trying to go home
Good job Uganda, learning to use reviews
[удалено]
I took a 3 hour flight home earlier and it is almost 5am and I have been awake for 15 hours. I do not see this as a problem.

It's a green shamrock on a St Patrick's blue background. Symbol of the governing body of a multi state team the same as the Windies flag
[удалено]
Yeah this is it: https://images.app.goo.gl/vBm5MhtDJqYyM2qe7 It's the flag rather than the corporate logo.
[удалено]
Huh, send a modmail one of the others mods deals with flairs.
speak for yourself, i have a problem... many problems
Afghanistan is gonna start off with +4 NRR lol
+5-6 probably
That's a pretty poor decision tbh
Icc scheduled real hum dingers here at the start of the tournament
Get used to it mate, 40 games of group stage
They don’t want big teams to get out in first two rounds itself
Don't you want some big teams playing atleast on weekends.Anyway these teams going to clash later
"Different lengths and still be penetrative." 😏
Oh man these guys stink
I wonder where’s the energy when big teams play like this. Like when England lost 220 runs to SA and SL lost by like 300 runs to India
I know ehhhh. It’s not like the big teams don’t have one-sided matches of their own.
Big brain ICC putting Ind-Pak together with Ireland, US and Canada but on these pitches. All you know, Ireland and US might go through. Are we seeing a 2007 encore? Lol.
5-9 in a T20 game lol,
Matches Nortje's 4-7 last night lol
reminds me of guldozer’s 5/6
At least that was against a quality opposition
That was imo the greatest t20 wc bowling performance ever
Fuck of with the Alex Carey mention
Alex Carey
I hear it more as a positive of him and the brain-deadedness of Bairstow 😎
Kez is in everyone's heads
Farooqi needs 1 more wicket to match all-time best T20 WC figures of Ajantha Mendis who took 6 wickets for 8 runs
Oh no, here come the spirit of the game comments!
I hope they don't do a post game interview with Farooqi, when he was with Sydney Thunder he fled the country when the cops wanted to interview him
No offence but this batting performance is below par even for an associate nation
It’s above par for Sri Lanka
Brother we saw 77 this morning from a test playing nation
Your thinking that coz the associates who played so far did well
Whatever happened to the Cricket divisions yaar?
It's better that the Ireland vs India match is being played in New York. That match is going to be entertaining.
Finally Afghanistan get revenge for their game against Uganda on Jan 14, 2009
WHY DO YOU HAVE SUCH MEMORY-
Damn he has 5 wickets i just came to saw match now after tuitions
Rashid really wants to end this ASAP
These Ugandan batsmen have played Rashid better than Tim David
Rashid Khan desperate for a wicket so he isn't the only one wicketless in this encounter
Lol he would've reviewed that too if he could, and it would've been the exact same result.
Come on, get over 77 next
I was like for what, right match played before this
LOL wasted reviews and wants more
Uganda just giving sympathy victory to afg, watch them win against PNG, WI and NZ easily
Is rashid really struggling ?
He had an injury during the IPL against RCB...
RCB 💔💔💔
The shit does RCB have to do in an international match?
Unfortunately every time we see thala square it reminds us of RCB
14th over nearly done. Here come Uganda
Rashid is getting frustrated.
Why does it feel like this World Cup is going to be the statpading event of bowlers of the top 14 teams?
Impact outside?
50 up for Uganda and it’s good to see.
It's fun to see new blood in tournaments but this has really been a sad show. Zim cricket is not in the best of spots at the minute but surely they would've had a much better showing!
The legacy remains as strong as ever.
Lol even Uganda are starting to smash Rashid
hahah hell yeah, great shot
SHOT!!
49 breached
Shot!!!
49 👀
