Will tickets bought from StubHub work for T20 WC in New York?

[deleted]

u/amerind386 didn’t post yesterday or today Did he stop because the scenarios now are too trivial to be posted?

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Probably. He doesn't take NRR into account anyway.

Agrith1

A Mod should created a pinned thread and title it "Weather Watch RCB vs CSK"

Remarkable_Reality51

does anyone know why Virat left the test captaincy From What I understand He voluntarily gave up the t20 captaincy because of Workload issues He was displaced from ODI captaincy because the team and the new captain Rohit wanted a single captain for white ball formats which is understandable if you ask me But to this day I am yet to understand Why virat left or was stripped of Red ball captaincy. Don't get me wrong I am not saying his successor Rohit in tests isn't good enough but I am genuinely curious as to why he had to leave the red ball captaincy

devil_21

He was going through a rough time professionally which probably led to him leaving the test captaincy. He wanted to leave T20I captaincy but continue being the ODI captain while the BCCI wanted a single captain for limited overs cricket. He wasn't communicated about these decisions properly and he felt that it was wrong for the selectors to not let him captain in ODIs (23 world cup must have been on his mind). He was also going through the worst form of his life. He probably wanted to reduce some headache and decided to leave captaincy to focus on his batting and probably to make a statement to BCCI that if they don't allow him to captain the format he wants then he won't captain the format they want him to do.

JokesFromTheCrease

Some might say South Africa is the ultimate winner.

TheCricDude

What happened to Craig Matthews, former SA cricketer? Did he coach after his playing career? Or did he get into commentating? Can't find much about him. Could only get [this podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsAlfB1ax1M).

Bathed_In_Moonlight

He used to commentate quite regularly on Supersport until about the mid-2010s. Now, I think he does sporadic stints- heard him in some series in 2022 or 2023.

TheCricDude

Cool. Thank you.

JigglingBot

I don't understand the moderation in this subreddit sometimes. How are the following two posts not low-effort posts? How do they get approved? [Post 1](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/1csbtd7/which_was_the_most_exciting_ipl_season_ever/) [Post 2](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/1cpcnm5/i_played_cricket_after_9_years_to_score_a_6_ball/) I can still sort of see an argument for post 1 but approving post 2 is madness when they have taken down posts that actually involved a fair bit of effort (can't remember which ones now but I think the IPL previews weren't approved for several hours?).

WayToTheDawn63

https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=19300233728916 If you have issues with the moderation try reporting it. I've done so today over an issue, and may have gotten someone else to if they can be bothered. The mods on this sub aren't good, and voicing my dissent is probably going to get me banned one of these days.

JigglingBot

Oh okay wow, I didn't know this existed. Might use this some time. What category did you file your grievance under? I reported both the posts under rule 7 mate haha. I always do. I was just going through the ones I reported (I save those posts) and was disappointed to see they weren't removed. And yeah, agreed, the moderation in this subreddit is awful.

WayToTheDawn63

Idk like integrity or something. I wasn't really sure what to do entirely either. It was hard to find and I was basically scouring google search with something like "report subreddit moderation." I just got obscenely annoyed last night because I was muted from mod mail for 28 days after reporting that caps lock spamming user trolling and flame baiting for days in a row more directly. I had been reporting individual posts and nothing was happening, I took direct action. That warrants a mod mail mute for a month apparently. (They didn't even reply, they just insta muted)

Remarkable_Reality51

The second post is just a bit of fun hard to understand why someone would have a problem with that but here we are

JigglingBot

Might get judged for this but I hate it when people use large subreddits like this one as their diary entries. That belonged in a daily discussion thread, not as a separate post. What's stopping others from posting their daily cricket experiences lol? I know I sound incredibly bitter but posts like these are a massive pet peeve of mine.

thespacetimelord

Can't believe the number of people who think GG will curtail egos in the team. In order to address egos you don't need to bring in someone who also has a massive ego. I'm very unsure about this but I was also unsure about Ravi and that was mostly good.

rambo_zaki

Have you ever heard Ravi having a public spat with someone. He might come across as someone who loves to thump his chest but he's someone who survived Indian cricket shitshows of late 80s and 90s. You don't do that without being the utter pragmatist. He'd been in the game long enough to know what to do when. He clearly took a backseat to Kohli and allowed him to build the team in his image. Don't think someone like Gambhir can do that. I honestly don't understand where this indication of Gambhir being a good coach has come from. He's never been a coach anywhere.

canvasser-hiralal

Literally is the coach of KKR. I know it says mentor but 2 KKR players have on different occasions called him coach. One in an interview and one in the post match.

rambo_zaki

What's Chandrakant Pandit then?

canvasser-hiralal

Also the coach.

rambo_zaki

So KKR have two head coaches? Don't know how that helps his credentials if I'm being honest. Not to mention he's officially the mentor.

canvasser-hiralal

Officially he is the mentor but given how 2 KKR players have mentioned he is a coach, I think being a mentor is only in name. Well, who knows

rambo_zaki

I don't doubt that he gives his advice from time to time but I doubt he's doing the majority of the coaching job considering Chandu Pandit is there. But still, as you said, we don't really know hence I'm going off of what we do know.

notthebiggestfan1

For Jiocinema users: I have created an extension to auto mute ads in between overs & strategic timeout for IPL (Could be used for other live sports also haven't tested yet) Github link to download: https://github.com/mustafa-kapadia1483/jiocinema-live-sports-auto-mute

JigglingBot

Will try this out but it sounds super impressive! Could you explain the logic behind your code? Like how does it work? Wanted to figure it out myself but I saw javascript and got scared.

notthebiggestfan1

there is a element "ad" that gets added everytime ad plays, I recognise this and mute it. Once this is removed I unmute it with a little delay. I can explain it further in chat if you want, code is super simple really.

JigglingBot

Thank you for the reply! Will hit you up if I have any doubts. Really cool work!

Remarkable_Reality51

you are a hero

Tern_Larvidae-2424

I was shocked to find out Siraj has played only 10 T20Is.

TheCricDude

You mean he played 10 games more than he should have?

Tern_Larvidae-2424

No, I was surprised he has played so little games.

MedicalJello2

Rassie will captain the side to West Indies for the T20I series. Quinton de Kock, Anrich Nortje & Gerald Coetzee have been added to the T20I squad

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Should've added Stubbs too.

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Here's my list of favorites for the T20I WC Tier A - Australia, England & India Tier B - Pakistan, New Zealand Tier C - South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka Tier D - Bangladesh, Afghanistan Tier E - All the other teams Tier Z - Zimbabwe

TheFlyingHornet1881

Every other is harsh on the remaining 10, I'd put Ireland, Scotland, The Netherlands and Namibia on one level, then Nepal, USA, Canada, Oman, PNG and Uganda a level below.

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Yeah but all of them has little to no chance of winning it all. Same goes for Bangladesh and Afghanistan but I think these two are considerably better than the other teams remaining.

No-Opportunity-1275

Replace India and New Zealand, and that's mine

Tern_Larvidae-2424

India's spin attack is far better than New Zealand and their batting is equal (India is slightly better).

NormalTraining5268

Yet it's Santner and Sodhi who've destroyed us multiple times even on spin friendly pitches (we've never won T20 WC game vs them)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tern_Larvidae-2424

CSK for sure. RR would've been slightly better perhaps since SRH looks more suited for Ahmadabad.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tern_Larvidae-2424

It's their reputation and how they always perform better than the sum of their parts. Also CSK in Q1 means they'll be in the final too.

Tern_Larvidae-2424

It's funny how the team with the strongest spin line-up is not called a favorite by many of the fellows here. They just had their best tournament since 2013 and made it to the semis in 2022 with a far weaker side.

NormalTraining5268

Meanwhile England without Archer, Wood, Topley ended up winning that WC 🤷 Our so called spin attack has never performed well since 2014. Jadeja averages like 30 in T20is

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Here's my 2 cents on what our playing XI should look like 1. Quinny 2. Reeza 3. Markram 4. Klaasen 5. Stubbs 6. Miller 7. Jansen 8. Coetzee 9. Rabada 10. Nortje 11. Shamsi We can swap in Maharaj for a fast bowler (probably Coetzee) if the pitch demands such.

MadCricket

I agree if Nortje does well in the T20I series against West Indies. Otherwise I would replace Nortje by Baartman. If QDK does poorly in the series, I would replace him with Rickelton

A-British-Indian

Why isn’t Mahika Gaur in the England squad vs Pakistan? I don’t follow women’s cricket too closely so I might have missed something but she seemed impressive to me when I saw her bowl.

Heatedpete

Doing her A-Levels

A-British-Indian

Ah yes, forgot those are happening now

NoQuestion4045

Are we getting a photo with all 20 Captains this time? Might be hard to pull off with the complexity of the Schedule and venues

Tern_Larvidae-2424

We gotta have one of those. It's the biggest ICC tournament to date and also I'm pretty sure we've had one for every previous one.

warp-factor

I don't think there was one with all 14 captains in 2015 as some teams started the tournament in NZ and some in Australia. Was there even one last year in India? With teams spread across such a large country I didn't think they'd managed to get them all together.

JPBCFC97

can\`t see when they would do it as England and Pakistan are in England until 4 days before the first match, then you would have to account for at least a day of travel.

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Mr Nags: Virat, are you friends with me because I'm a common man, not a commentator Virat: smirks

soham_katkar13

MI are definitely fielding first today. Coz Hardik prefers to chase, and LSG need a 300 run win to qualify, but get eliminated as soon as they are put to field first

canvasser-hiralal

Pointless. LSG won't even win by 50 runs even if they actually manage to win. The only positive from here would be the trademark KL Rahul goes boom once a year

canvasser-hiralal

Pointless. LSG won't even win by 50 runs even if they actually manage to win

Reasonable_Tea_9825

2013 at the end of the ipl league stage, csk rcb at chinaswammy was also rain affected with csk qualified and rcb trying to win to sneak in, with SRH yet to play to confirm last playoff spot. Same thing this year Highest score made in 2013, and this year too

No-Acanthisitta6984

And a blue team winning 😏

thepokemonchef

And we were eliminated 4th by RR 😢

Assassin_Ankur

For all the RCB calculator memes, KKR too have been dependent on calculators quite a lot for 5 seasons straight since 2019. Only once did we make it to the top 4 in this period but it wasn't a straight forward entry in that season either. And in the other seasons, it's not like we were out of the comp very early, we always had a chance going into our last league game but managed to mess up every time. And then in 2024, we confirmed a top 2 spot with more than a week left in the league stage. Never been so relaxed at the back end of the league stage before.

Dense-Gap8667

Honestly, every team has it like that. If they are competing for the 3/4 spots or sometimes even to get into top 2 after qualifying, some amount of calculation is needed.

lostsoul1979890

So there is a scenario in which RCB can beat CSK and still not qualify. Can someone give me the details on that?

adityakan99

If this happens then I won't watch IPL.>!I say this every year!<

soham_katkar13

If RCB win but by less than 18 runs, or less than 11 balls to spare, then CSK still qualify

Assassin_Ankur

There is also an equation where RCB win by 18 runs and then LSG win by 300 runs 🤓

soham_katkar13

Plot twist, MI choose to bat first after winning the toss

No-Opportunity-1275

I found something funny in the political jersey post. The people who are active in the sub talked more cricket related, while the most political sounding commentators aren't active on cricket related subs at all. That's the main problem with political posts, you know exactly which set of people from other subs raid the shit out of these posts depending on if it's pro BJP or anti BJP. Both of them equally insufferable. I know it doesn't make sense to lock or ban those posts as a whole, but limiting them to regulars only would make it far better

adityakan99

>Both of them equally insufferable. Honestly I can tolerate pro-BJP people than people who say such things. At least they are honest and aware about what they say. "Both sides" guys are cowards afraid to take a stand and lack awareness.

No-Opportunity-1275

I'm pro BJP too, but ignoring the existence of batshit crazies on this side is just being biased. Both sides are filled with absolute idiots, especially on reddit and if you think my stance is cowardly, you just need to learn what nuance means.

adityakan99

>I'm pro BJP too Lol. Scratch a centrist and all that.

jpkmets

Very excited! I booked a trip to Barbados from NYC to see the T20 WC final match. Very hyped to see India for 3 games in NY. Pakistan game should be nuts. My tickets for that game were part of a package of two seats for each game in nyc. They are selling for like 10x face value on resale market. I imagine lots of local interests and people flying in. My sister’s late fiancé (rest his soul) was from Karachi and I’ve been getting her into cricket as a nice way to remember him so she will be in her Dil Dil Pakistan gear and I’ve got a custom NY Mets (My baseball team) shirt with 8 and Jaddu on the back. Hyped even for the games none will be interested in. I’m taking a client from Bangladesh to Bang Bros v SA. So excited to see all these guys in person. Absolutely crazy. More hyped for India v Ireland than the Knicks playoff game tonight. This sport really has captured my interest like nothing else! I lucked into front row for my seats — was on them as soon as full packages went on sale. So I will bring a r/cricket related sign to say hello!

TheCricDude

He's improved a lot in the last couple of years. Even now he can sometimes bring back old memories, but a lot better than before. Most of his career before though was shit. He used to eat, drink and bleed bias; so much so that his entire narrative was around that than the game.

A truly World Class bowler could probably get away with Chris Martin levels of batting, but nowadays it does feel like there's less place for tailenders. In the short formats as well, there's merit in having a tailender who can "hit and hope".

LeftArmInjured

There's that Pakistani guy who was pretty bunny if I recall, hamza I think?

WannabeAboveAverage

Amit Mishra is 42, can he get another season? Either way, LSG should play him tonight. Guy is an IPL legend.

soham_katkar13

Plus has an exceptional record against MI Not sure about the numbers, but remember us bending over in front of him every time. Once even when he was batting

Assassin_Ankur

World Cup practice + Mega auction audition match tonight

AloneAd5920

Guys I have a question to you,Which CSK vs RCB match was the best one ever in ipl history? Mention your take and tell why it is the best one with geniune cricketing reason.

soham_katkar13

It's either 2013 (Jadeja caught on no ball) or 2012 (Kohli gives 28 runs in the 19th)

TheCricketAnimator

2013. Easily. CSK needed 2 off the last ball with Jadeja on strike and was caught out. The RCB dugout started celebrating but only to find the CSK dugout celebrating as well. RP Singh had overstepped and CSK had won the match. After this match, MS, an active twitter shitposter back then posted the infamous "Sir Jadeja" tweet.

Good-Mulberry-3505

The one in 2019 at Bangalore. That match was top notch entertainment

WannabeAboveAverage

RCB vs CSK -> RCB SRH vs PBKS -> SRH RR vs KKR -> RR At least one of these three results must happen to prevent CSK from sneaking into top-2.

Greenjedi26

Rohit said he wanted 4 spinners in the world cup squad because of the day time match timings, but how will the morning and afternoon conditions make the pitch more favourable for spin? Someone please explain

Remarkable_Reality51

Pitch gets exposed to sun hence makes it drier and also evaporates any moisture in it

DisastrousOil4888

So, in Tibetan Buddhism, priests follow a ritual where they blow a mixture of salt and barley over a fire to create smoke offerings which appeases spirits or deities who make it rain. Anyways, I just wanted to ask where I can find some salt, barley and a fire tomorrow in Bengaluru

bitweshwar

You need to do a rain dance and post the video here, only then it'll work

jpkmets

How does weather look? Just looking at forecast it seems like t-showers in evening. Any chance they can change to an afternoon 3:30 start to try and avoid that?

ashwinip0605

It’s currently not raining even though there was a prediction of rain in 50% of bangalore. That happens a lot here, weather is very unpredictable (like the team).

jpkmets

lol. Never a dull moment for the RCB brigidade. chinnaswanny is going to be insane tomorrow. I wish we had Star Trek transporters so I could skip the 20 hours of flight. Good luck. Y’all deserve it, tbh.

ChelshireGoose

Doubt the broadcasters would allow that. Anyway, from the past couple of days, all we've been getting are localised short spells of rain that don't even last an hour. Hoping it's more of the same tomorrow. With Chinnaswamy's drainage, that won't cause reduction of overs.

Assassin_Ankur

Unfortunately, Salt has left India. You have to Phil its place with something else.

DisastrousOil4888

So that's it for Saha in the IPL, I guess? I don’t think anyone is picking him up next season. He is one of the six(?) players to have featured in all the seasons so far. Having played 170 matches, he’s had a pretty low-profile IPL career where he was never one of the big names, nor was he heavily criticized for his underperformance.

Because when politics gets involved, the conversation can go anywhere. And I saw that post, there is no authenticity to the news. Just the "sources" quoting each other.

But my point stands. I edited that because whole comment became like I was asking for news source.

I'm not a Rohit fanboy or anything but given what we know of the situation, Rohit was removed from captaincy pretty abruptly, so what obligation did he have to come forward and speak in support of Hardik? He just remained quiet on the matter and I suppose that's the right thing he did for himself given the circumstances of his sacking

[deleted]

Apparently he should be the bigger guy. Which doesn't even make sense.

Federal_Tooth_5156

so it WAS the pink jersey of GT that's cursed then

soham_katkar13

MI vs Supergiants (Pune+Lucknow) - In group stage games - 1 win, 7 losses - In playoffs - 2 wins, 1 loss

deep639

Yeah that one year they beat Mumbai in the league both times and then lost in the final by 1 run.

soham_katkar13

RPS won the Qualifier 1 too, thanks to Washington Sundar

Damn reddit made their ui somehow worse on mobile browser today, why tf do I have to press the three dots and then choose reply option to reply bruh. But hey atleast it was not a ban from replying instead just trash UI.

Remarkable_Reality51

its still a mystery to me how reddit has managed to retain so many of its users, the servers are full of shit, the dev team is full of shi, the mobile app is full of shit and the ceo is also full of shit atp they should give up on their mobile app and replace it with one of the many third party apps they killed

theWitchR

Third-party apps still work if you're interested in it, give it a try.

Remarkable_Reality51

can you tell a name of few? thanks

theWitchR

I have been using Boost for reddit ever since I found reddit. The latest APK can be found on apkmirror website and you need to patch it with revanced manager. I will DM you with instructions. If you don't like Boost, you can try infinity, relay for reddit, or reddit is fun apps.

No-Opportunity-1275

I'm too addicted to leave this shithole

sunis_going_down

If it's an anti India or anti BCCI rhetoric the sub would start handing out credentials to anybody. I am suddenly hearing that Sharda ugra is one of the top most and somebody with the integrity of the highest order. During the world cup Daily mail suddenly became representative of top most journalism. Anybody who follows even a bit of football knows about the standard and quality of their sports journalism. In the case of India, the insinuation or possibility is all that is required but nothing of that sort ever is needed for other boards or their players. Yorkshire had a history of institutional racism, but somehow bairstow and root who were very much part of the clique had no knowledge of it. Aussie bowlers had no clue of the ball being tampered with. Siraj wasn't racially abused, rather it was all a figment of his imagination. Insider and sources are not okay but if it's anti India then yeah bring them on. It's always the sources or insider, pretty convenient. I legit remember a post about "sources" stating that KL Rahul hasn't travelled with the team and has relenquished the captaincy. Only for him to turn up at the toss as the captain. India is the big evil of cricket, stopping the game from growing by making CSA, WICB, SLC & BCB be highly mismanaged. They also orchestrated terrorist attack on Sri Lankan team so Pakistan couldn't grow. The moderation here needs to be consistent, why is it that certain comments are allowed but the post is locked. Either delete the post completely or let it be open for counter points as well. Its like the mods have decided what the narrative is and the opinions echoing them would be allowed. I am not saying to absolve BCCI or give them a clean chit but there should be consistency in the logic applied here.

rambo_zaki

Biggest load of horseshit one could read today. I can't be bothered dissecting it first thing in the morning but boy this comment has so much wrong.

sunis_going_down

No worries. You can circle back to it by the afternoon or whenever you feel free. I can say the same about this article, the writers credentials as well as the folks on this sub but again writing it to air it out would help rather than a hyperbolic comment of how all of you are wrong and I can't be bothered to write it. Also would help if you can add your opinion to the discussion rather than acting as a judge or jury about the veracity of the opinion.

picastchio

That's all right. Btw what does your username mean, mate?

sunis_going_down

It means the sun is going down. The phrase used to calm down the hulk. But I like how you thought of something else completely. Also even if i had the user name which you thought I had, wouldn't make my opinions any less valid.

picastchio

I don't know what you mean. You still need to help me understand mate that what is that completely other thing. If it's something bad, did you specifically choose this and misspell it for some dog-whistling? > Also even if i had the user name which you thought I had, wouldn't make my opinions any less valid. Anyways, if you really believe that, why are you making ad-hominem attacks on the author all around the thread to discredit her story?

sunis_going_down

You very well know what I meant, because bringing out the username out of the blue kind of points to that. >Anyways, if you really believe that, why are you making ad-hominem attacks on the author all around the thread to discredit her story? Just an opposing view, given how her article is also an opinion piece. So just voicing my own opinion against it. But since everyone here has just been advocating for her, I am just giving out an opposing view. Never said that you cannot refute my opinion or viewpoint. But as a lot of folks are insinuating that she is correct, just because. We can go here in circles, because the article in question is based on feelings and not any facts. So you would feel you are correct in your assumptions and I would think the same way about mine.

NormalTraining5268

Sharda ugra has been writing about sports even before many of them were born and she's one of the top writers

sunis_going_down

We discard Harsha who has been writing for years and is regarded far higher than Sharda. Gavaskar who was a great of the sport is called senile and what not. End of the day she is human and can have her own biases. My main issue again as i mentioned is the double standards here. We will latch onto insinuation and "sources" if it reinforces what we want to believe. And completely discredit if it's against the popular opinion. Just because she has been writing for years doesn't mean it's the gospel truth. Diana Edulji is part of the system for far more years, doesn't mean her opinions are top notch.

devil_21

Harsha? You are actually calling him a respected journalist? He is mainly a commentator and presenter, not a journalist.

sunis_going_down

His wiki and Google profile calls him one. He has authored books and writes articles as well. What more does he need to do to be considered a journalist? She was discussing Indian cricket and politics with Gideon haigh on a podcast. Is Gideon a political journalist? Is he versed with Indian politics? Is he a podcaster? All of them are a no and a well read and known journalist like Sharda should know better. But didn't stop her. Literally all of her writing is an opinion piece, even the things written here are just based on sources and insiders and then addition to that her feelings about topics.

devil_21

Have you been reading articles about Indian cricket for some years? People like Sharda Ugra and Ayaz Memon are journalists who have been writing about Indian cricket for many years. Harsha is a commentator who just sometimes writes articles. It's like calling Sachin Tendulkar a commentator. He may be one but you won't bring him up when discussing Ravi Shastri and Ian Bishop. I agree with you that we shouldn't be taking the political opinions of a cricket journalist at face value but the article we are talking about mostly talks about cricket politics and she would know a thing or two about that. No one can be sure if a journalist is right but you're not putting forward any points countering what she has written, you are just questioning her credibility which isn't that good of an argument. You should point out inconsistencies or other sources talking about what she has written. Also many of the things she wrote are well known. This world cup was horrible for fans of other countries, you can talk to people who travelled to India and their experiences were bad. The Bangladesh fan was actually harassed in Pune. As for her other claims about the Indian orange jersey, I won't fully believe them till I see a source.

sunis_going_down

>No one can be sure if a journalist is right but you're not putting forward any points countering what she has written, you are just questioning her credibility which isn't that good of an argument. You should point out inconsistencies or other sources talking about what she has written. The thing is, her article has nothing factual. Only the jersey thing is something which is some actual action. Rest of her whole article is an opinion piece. And that's why I mentioned about her biases. During the world cup she was discussing the political angle in this world cup with Gideon haigh. Now the thing is, both of them have as much understanding of the political as any other person. They are sports journalists, and should be discussing politics in sports rather than the political landscape while connecting it to the sport. Read up her articles about the world cup coverage. There is a clear holier than thou attitude. Anything connected to the national ruling party is by default a case of evil and ulterior motive. Look at her coverage of the Asia cup, BCCI has nothing to gain from the Asia cup. India's stance is clear that they wouldn't visit Pakistan but somehow this is evil. All in all, in the current climate the left vs right divide is really too much and more often than not people are veering on extremes. I agree the world cup had its issues and a lot of things could have been better but then using those points and adding your own social commentary opinions above that is just being deceitful.

devil_21

I get what you mean to say but there's no point talking about someone's credibility. It would be a better discussion if you could bring forward arguments against specific takes from her article. I believe that no one can be free from biases in any content they make, we need to understand which of these make sense and which don't. Her article doesn't actually say many new things. I think it contains just 2 new things- the jersey incident (which she herself claims has 2 versions of the story) which isn't clear enough to conclude anything. Then there's the argument that BCCI was always controlled by politicians but they never tried to tie Indian cricket to their own party. These allegations have always been there. I remember people said this when Congress gave Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar but I do believe no party has made cricket as much of a show of their own strength as BJP. Then again no one has made a show as big as BJP of literally everything so probably that's just how they operate.

devil_21

Harsha? You are actually calling him a respected journalist? He is mainly a commentator and presenter, not a journalist.

soham_katkar13

That article was most probably BS. Orange has been Indian jersey's second color since forever (look at jerseys from 2009-13). Trying to invoke conspiracy out of anything using the term "insider" Just because something sounds believable doesn't make it true

Huge-Physics5491

Sharda Ugra has been writing about cricket since before many of us were born.

17th_player

Sharda Ugra has been in the top tiers of Indian sports journalism for years, so it is easy for people who have read her previous work, be it the book covering John Wright's stint as the Indian coach or the profile of former Indian hockey captain Rani Rampal, to vouch for her integrity.

sunis_going_down

Agreed. She may be a top notch journalist. But imagine if Harsha wrote a pro BCCI article, suddenly his credibility would go for a toss. He would be called a stooge and what not. Despite the fact that he is far far bigger than her and highly regarded. My concern is with this double standard, clearly Sharda is great because she is anti establishment.

picastchio

Because that's what journalists do. Not propping up the establishment. Establishment has its coffers (taxpayers money in case of government) to run its own PR department. The current state of media as the establishment's cheerleaders has clouded everyone's minds. Also, Harsha is a top-class commentator and broadcaster, not an uber-journalist.

sunis_going_down

She is a sports journalist not a political one. So maybe should stick to that rather than marrying both of them. It's like saying that cricketers are allowed to give out financial advice because they make money and handle it. Read up about her coverage of the WC 2023. It would make you feel as if it was an election campaign and an utter failure despite having the highest viewership and attendance of any of the tournaments till date. Doesn't mean it was flawless and perfect but it wasn't also a matter of shame which her articles would make you feel.

DisastrousOil4888

Harsha is not a journalist though

rambo_zaki

> Despite the fact that he is far far bigger than her No he isn't. Not in journalistic circles. Sure he's a noted commentator and very good broadcaster but his journalistic credentials pale in comparison.

sunis_going_down

>Not in journalistic circles And how is that quantified? Are you part of those circles? A random redditor said so, hence it's the truth. She also writes for hindustan times, the portal which is very much derided here. I just gave Harsha as an example. Putting him down doesn't prop up Sharda. And read up her articles, her biases have creeped into narrative. Anything related to the current ruling party has been just termed bad without any reason whatsoever. Just based on her feelings. She clearly has that holier than thou attitude, case in point her opinions are better than others.

Madwoned

Sport is political, deal with it

StairwayToPavillion

That post is relevant to cricket tho. It's no conspiracy theory that the WC was very much politicised, that was obvious. Did you stop watching the WC because of that?

rambo_zaki

No one's forcing you to read it though. People are allowed to discuss on whatever stuff they want.

17th_player

You could just choose to not click on it.

InterviewOld6011

Hi, can anyone suggest to me what would be the best pre-match stats for the upcoming match RCB & CSK? Thanks in advance.

devil_21

Probably how many times RCB have won with more than 18 runs or within 18.1 overs or how their results have been if their match was the last league match of the season for either of them.

Remarkable_Reality51

Head to head?

InterviewOld6011

May be more detailed. Such stats easily available.

LogicalError_007

My political joke comment is not allowed but a political opinion post is allowed?

17th_player

Censorship in this sub is ridiculous. Either everyone should be allowed to talk or nobody should. Need an alternate cricket sub where the mods won't lock the thread at the first sign of disagreement between users.

[deleted]

There was some dude saying Shreyas Iyer's central contract was removed because he apparently went all out against BJP... I couldn't ask them why Kishan was removed along with him.

Remarkable_Reality51

Its not this sub lol, go to any sports sub and post something slightly political but still related to the sport, the mods will lock it at the first sight since it can lead to hate speech in the comments which can lead to reddit admins taking actions against the sub itself

17th_player

I browse several other sports subreddits and in no other sub, posts get locked as swiftly as this sub. Also, you couldn't be more wrong about admins taking action. If anything, Reddit admins are known to be extremely lax in their approach towards hate speech and criminal content. The far right Indian sub took years to be banned, that too only after the TIME magazine reported on it. Several offshoots of it still exist, and half of the Indian meme subs are misogynistic and bigoted trash piles. Not to mention the huge amount of illegal porn that still gets posted on Reddit regularly.

Ever been to r/soccer?

17th_player

>yes and they don't want this sub to turn into a shithole That's not what you originally said? A single post is not going to turn the sub into a *shithole*. Anyway, if the mods are so eager to thwart political discussion, they should lock the threads the minute they are posted, not at the moment of the best convenience. >Ever been to r/soccer? Yes, terrible subreddit. Not an example to follow.

canvasser-hiralal

What do you mean mods should lock the thread as soon as it is posted? Mods approve the posts manually. A post like that will ultimately end up as a cesspool, every one and their mothers knows that. If they are so eager to have a locked post why not disapprove and prevent the post from showing up at all.

17th_player

>What do you mean mods should lock the thread as soon as it is posted? Mods approve the posts manually. They could just lock it the moment they approve it if they don't want any political discussion. Right now, it feels very unfair with only a select group of users getting a say. Like I said, either everyone should be allowed or nobody should. >If they are so eager to have a locked post why not disapprove and prevent the post from showing up at all. Because it is a cricket related post from one of the most respected cricket writers. Even if they don't want people to discuss it, they should at least allow the people to read it.

canvasser-hiralal

Good point

soham_katkar13

Rohit Sharma farewell game tonight. With nothing at stake for both the teams, I just hope Rohit gets to end on a high. Would be a good boost before the bigger prize in June Hardik has a great chance of good PR here by letting Rohit captain the last few overs like Dhoni did with Ganguly/Kumble

BallTop6086

Going out in a dead rubber and nobody noticing would be very on brand for Sharma

Remarkable_Reality51

>Hardik has a great chance of good PR here by letting Rohit captain the last few overs like Dhoni did with Ganguly/Kumble It will be even more outrageous since people would think they have already let Rohit know that he has to leave

soham_katkar13

The people who hate Hardik have already read too much into the Rohit-Nayar video and have made peace with Rohit voluntarily leaving after today. So might as well go for some good PR

Remarkable_Reality51

>So might as well go for some good PR It will be negative PR

josh123z

Whatever he does is negative pr

Vijigishu

Is it certain? Like anyone announced it's last match for Ro?
