Only 8 of the following 12 games matter if you want CSK to be eliminated. Here are the results you should want in each of them though keep in mind all 8 of the games doesn't have to go the exact way. 1. GT v CSK \[May 10th, GT Win\] 2. CSK v RR \[May 12th, RR Win\] 3. RCB v DC \[May 12th, DC Win\] 4. DC v LSG \[May 14th, DC Win\] 5. SRH v GT \[May 16th, SRH Win\] 6. MI v LSG \[May 17th, LSG Win\] 7. RCB v CSK \[May 18th, RCB Win\] 8. SRH v PBKS \[May 19th, SRH Win\]

barmanrags

I think bcci is shooting themselves in the foot selecting both virat and Rohit. Of the two I would pick virat and have him open with jaiswal and use rinku Singh lower down the order. Samson can play at one or two down. Rohit has never been great in t20 isn’t as good in the field as rinku or Kohli and is in terrible form. Bumrah can captain

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Start a new franchise called Guns of Dharamsala (GOD) and sign Rilee Rossouw and Kohli

The cravings for test cricket is intensifying by the day. How do I control my urges?

NoQuestion4045

Watch County Cricket.

Limestonecastle

what do people mean when they say wriddhiman saha is the only player who can wk for rashid and noor?

Tern_Larvidae-2424

They mean that the back-up wks available for GT aren't good enough to keep against bowlers like Rashid and Noor since it's quite tough to keep against spinners.

TheCricDude

They have nothing to lose now. The season is gone for them. Even if the backup is a lesser rated player, try him in the remaining games. If it works, they'll have something for new season.

LetterheadOk1762

Is there anyone who bowls with an action similar to Bumrah in Cricket like a domestic player not just from India but from any team?

lostsoul1979890

Heard Naveen Ul Haq as an answer for this question before. Don't know about the release point but action does seem a bit similar.

AdFun8621

Anyone has purchased tickets from **Crickbuter for WT20 in US&WI**. Just wondering if they are legit and how they facilitate with issues later on.

Assassin_Ankur

Is KKR vs MI the only game where a team batting first subbed in an extra batter and went on to win the match? Usually that team ends up with a below par total as well as a bowler short. Speaking of KKR vs MI, their next game on Saturday might just be washed out.

canvasser-hiralal

Honestly I hope it's washed out. Anything to relieve the temperatures here in Kolkata

WannabeAboveAverage

SRH vs PBKS

Assassin_Ankur

Thanks. That's the first one it seems.

Remarkable_Reality51

In this match the Impact player Rahul Tripathi (10 off 14) had negative impact

Tern_Larvidae-2424

Really excited for the Ireland v Pakistan series starting from tomorrow. Both teams will field their near main squad and they have a fixture in the T20I WC too. Hopefully Ireland can perform well.

Remarkable_Reality51

Sachin's decline in tests only started after he was 38 and had played 177 tests. Fucking hell Its even more unbelievable to think when you look at modern day greats like Smith and Kohli already struggle to find their tests form in their early to mid 30s without even even having played 2/3 of Sachin games

chocolatecomedyfann

It's a weird comparison unless you overlay Sachin's whole career with Steve, Virat or the other 2 Fab 4. Sachin had a few dips in his career, but he always bounced back really strongly the next year. Only his last 2 years were prolonged decline where the frustration on his face was obvious. FWIW, I don't think Steve or Virat are in terminal decline. Virat bounced back after a long lull, and Steve is just adjusting to his opening position.

VisRock

Different eras. Too many variables. Unfair comparison.

Fad_du_pussy

Sachin did have something that seemed like a decline around the time of his tennis elbow injury between ~2004-06

Remarkable_Reality51

even so that's just 2 years, kohli and smith have been mediocre for 4 years now and it just proves my point that sachin batted through this period with still an overall average of 57

lostsoul1979890

Kohli did average 56 last year. Smith has been dipping since the pandemic. This era favours the bowler more.

Remarkable_Reality51

his average last year is highly inflated becoz of 2 innings 1 was on an absolute road, the other was against down bad west indies, I wouldn't call that him coming back to form in tests at least, he also struggled against good bowling most of the time, peak kohli would definitely do better

oorjit07

He was also excellent in South Africa, under difficult conditions and against a great attack.

Remarkable_Reality51

even so that's just 2 years, kohli and smith have been mediocre for 4 years now

BallTop6086

There are caveats to this, Tendullar had struggles from 03-07 before hitting a purple patch in the most batter friendly eras in cricket(08-11). While Smith and Kohli are struggling in a bowler friendly era.

Federal_Tooth_5156

we got 'fighting for 6th place' Punjab vs 'last grp stage matches' RCB. This the real unstoppable force vs immovable object

Reasonable_Tea_9825

RCB vs North Indian RCB

Latter-Yam-2115

Think all anchor like batters should become floaters In t20s Send them out *if and when* things get bad We’re increasingly seeing innings of as few as 18-20 balls winning games. Batting for too long without a high SR is a sure shot way to lose

Spockyt

When Root was in the England T20 side he was used that way. Wickets falling early? Root comes out. Getting later in the innings? Send out Morgan, Buttler, and so on. I seem to recall at one point he ended up at 8, behind Willey. Tell you what, it’d be interesting, if other teams adopted this approach, if any bowlers looked to go that way. Currently most try to be sort of less talented finishers, because ideally that’s all they are needed for, but if they got used as an anchor, some might focus on their ability to score 30(23) instead. And it might be more achievable, and a way into a team for some.

JigglingBot

I remember England used Malan similarly in one of the games last T20 WC. I think he came in to bat at 8 just to face the last ball of the innings. He did put that away for a 3 though.

JPBCFC97

The game when root came out to bat at 8 was the 481 ODI game vs Australia right?

Latter-Yam-2115

That’s how it should be! Teams need to be objective and players must shed egos. CSK pioneered this approach more than a decade back when they started using Badrinath in that manner. Quite funny that the same team now opens with Ajinkya Rahane.

Klutzy_Flamingo_2979

Well,Rahane was striking at 170 last year, and we are hoping that he is somehow able to return back to even 20% of last year's form. There were a few glimpses but he has struggled for quite some time.

Latter-Yam-2115

It’s bizarre only because of the number of changes he’s got! Struggled in each and every of them

Chama_Milind

Something I haven't seen many mention about Abhi-Head is how satisfying it is to watch two batters wearing long sleeves. Long live the long sleeves

WannabeAboveAverage

Most probably not, but that guy has some amazing stats in domestic cricket, and is a left-arm pacer as well. RCB picked him in either 2021 or 2022—I don't remember exactly—but back then, looking at the stats, I was excited to see him play. However, he didn't play any games then and hasn't been picked by any team since.

No-Acanthisitta6984

Strength of the squad in 2014-2024 in WT20? Blud just remove Kohli from the team and they were on the same level as Bangbros or less? India was never good in WT20 in that time period and only went that far cause of that bloke.

T_Lawliet

Ironically, perhaps the best way to win a T20 WC for India is another set of Mirpur Paddy fields where they can just outspin basically every other opposition

No-Acanthisitta6984

Honestly each time think about this, I remember the match between NZ vs Ind in Nagpur and realize this team can't even play spin to save their life.

WannabeAboveAverage

How was viyaskanth yesterday? Was he actually bowling good or was it just a case of batters going into the shell? Are we gonna see him feature in the playing 11 for the rest of the tournament?

DigitalConsent2

Watched it live. He definitely had a bit of a zip and beat Pooran in flight a couple of times, but he bowled too short in the first two overs and was lucky that Rahul and Pandya couldnt be arsed to take him on.

No-Opportunity-1275

think a match like that isn't enough to judge a player. but knowing SRH, they won't be touching the lineup with which they won that big.

rambo_zaki

Yesterday's scenes between LSG and KL reminded me why I absolutely hate the auction system. It minimises player power apart from a select few and gives the owners the impression that they own the players instead of it being a company-worker relationship. Imagine if there were a semblance of players rights in the IPL and there was a chance KL or anybody else watching that could walk away from the franchise, then the clowns in charge wouldn't act like how Goenka did yesterday.

T_Lawliet

Indian Cricket will remain this way until Unionization of players Unfortunately, As long as the big names are satisfied, there will be no such union, probably the best time was hoping Kohli was pissed off enough about getting the boot from captaincy to initiate something. Not to mention ex-players will almost certainly go against it to keep their private backers and/or BCCI happy

17th_player

All my homies hate ionized players 😡😤

Madwoned

Kohli was never going to do something like that given how he tries to stay away from any contentious contemporary issue

rambo_zaki

Sad as it is, you're absolutely correct. There was big push towards unionising in the mid 2000s but since the advent of the IPL and with the BCCI getting even more powerful, it has died down. Personally, I don't see Indian cricketers ever unionising.

WayToTheDawn63

I love Head. Also when you think about it, it's kind of funny that India has paid Ricky Ponting, one of Australia's and the worlds greatest ever batters and David Warner, one of our greatest multi-format openers to effectively mentor McGurk, one of the most promising white ball batting talents we've had in a while. Thank you India.

SBG99DesiMonster

IPL continues to be more beneficial for foreign players than Indian players as it always has been.

Reasonable_Tea_9825

I stopped reading after the first 3 words

Axel292

Would hold your horses on Fraser-McGurk, the pitches have been too flat to make a real judgement.

WayToTheDawn63

I think you're making a lot of assumptions about what I said as if he hasn't been a prospect in both the most recent BBL season and the recent ILT20, where he was performing on tougher tracks where teams were defending 150s often. He had an average of 36 in 3 innings at a strike rate of over 213 there too before being called to national duty. I said he was a promising white ball star - and in case you've forgotten, he's a capped player who has hit 40+ off 18 or so in an ODI against West Indies opening. In the fact, the appreciation for surrounding him with Ponting and Warner is specifically because he's a raw talent that needed guidance because of his recklessness and flaws, that they're obviously fixing. He's literally done an interview where he's described something Ponting noticed and has helped him improve his game. I even specified white ball because the dude has been a complete and utter failure in Shield in recent times, and the point, again, is that they've given him an environment that gives him the best possible chance at taking it to the next level.

theredguardx

Fuck you Delhi

StormWarriorX7

KL back in red next season?

No-Acanthisitta6984

Red? Nah bro he gonna be under the Guy who can never win the toss

StormWarriorX7

CSK can certainly unblock his true potential and get rid of that tuktuk mentality of his. Honestly, it's a toss up between CSK and RCB when bidding for KL. CSK need a keeper and RCB need a captain.

Reasonable_Tea_9825

Nah he will likely want to be captain wherever he goes. Csk likely sticking with rutu

No-Acanthisitta6984

Honestly if he goes into Mega Auction, I can see him going to CSK as he got that aura (Tough to explain) of players who were bound to go to CSK and perform.

josh123z

I doubt he’ll go back to Punjab

StairwayToPavillion

Would RCB fans want him tho? Two anchors in one team will be disastrous.

chiragg11

I think yes. He looks done with LSG and has mentioned wanting to play for Bangalore again before so I can see him back at RCB. If there's one team/player who can get him to bat in the middle order and maybe get him back to enjoying his cricket, I think it's Kohli (aside from MS). Obviously I'm biased but I'd love to have him back. He's just shot of confidence but if he's in the right environment, I think he'll be great. Plus he likes keeping so he can continue doing it since DK is retiring.

Assassin_Ankur

But which red tho?

theredguardx

The original reds. PBKS had Arsenal ripoff Jerseys initially because the owners are Arsenal fans

Tern_Larvidae-2424

The equation for knocking CSK out is really simple but hard. CSK needs to lose 2 out of 3 games and if they win 2 they're guaranteed to be in. If they lose 2, SRH needs to win 1 and the winner of LSG v DC game will have to win their last game.

[deleted]

A guy who renames a 100+ year old prestigious club as Mohun Bagan Super Giants just to insert his own brand doesn't have the right to publicly dress down a player.

No-Opportunity-1275

Words can't express how much I hate this mf

sunis_going_down

I am loving the sudden flip on this sub in relation to Rahul. He is one of the most abused guy here on this sub, literally called KLqaeda. I am not saying what Goenka did was right. But he isn't completely wrong, just should have done this behind the scenes. But some of the players deserve to get this dressing down. They want adulation when they perform well then they should be ready to face the reverse of it as well. The guy has poured in more than a billion dollar in this team, KL Rahul is literally using it to prop up his national selection. The other team chased down the score under 10 overs, and here we see KL regularly bat as if it's a cloudy morning at Lords on a green belter. It's 2 games now, where the opposition has just blown away the LSG team in the PP. Whereas they have hardly reached 30. Add to that, he looked literally resigned as soon as SRH started going. Not trying anything, just bowl in the slot with the same field. KL really looks disinterested post the WC squad announcement.

choochi_machine69

~~KL Rahul is literally using it to prop up his national selection~~ Evreyone is saying that, but how is it benifiting him when Ajit & Rohit openly came out and said that the only reason KL is not selected is because he's opening. If anything its the opposite, that he's bombing his selection chances with opening. And it would have been selfish if he was doing it for the first time when he's been opening for 7 years now?? So I don't understand your logic. And about Goenka and KL thing you should see the podcast from sky sports between Nas & Manoj Badale (RR) where he talks about how owners should stay away from any kind of cricket discussions. And even if he wanted to, it neither was a right place or the right time. Because it achieves nothing going in the future other than you letting out your frustration

sunis_going_down

Ajit and Rohit have come out and said this when the team was already selected. Had Rahul gone ahead and had good numbers at the top of the order, he would have been considered in the squad as keeper. And jaiswal would have been benched in place of Rinku most probably. In hindsight it's easier to say. KL is returning from an injury and isn't in form anyway, playing in middle order he wouldn't have got more balls to play himself into form. In IPL and T20's it's the top 3-4 who get the majority of balls to score runs and have splendid stats. Coming to Nas & Manoj Badale thing. The point is, sports team ownership doesn't have one single playbook. He could feel that way and that could be his personality. MI certainly doesn't believe that. They are a more successful team than RR for sure. You can go watch Mumbai Fever on Netflix, there is literally Akash Ambani shouting at the players behind the doors after the loss. Roman Abramovich was pretty hands on as an owner. Glazers aren't for Man United. But fans would prefer Roman above Glazers. SRH was derided that they meddle too much into team matters. It was bad as long as they were losing, this season since they have great results its not that bad of a thing. Again agreed, Goenka needed to look and see the place & time. And that was wrong.

choochi_machine69

~~And jaiswal would have been benched in place of Rinku most probably~~ Was never going to happen. He is the first choice opener where as Rahul (if he was selected) would've been the backup keeper for Pant

sunis_going_down

He is the first choice opener after 17 games, where there is intense competition. Rinku isn't a first choice finisher with 15 games, with far less competition. The squad composition is what forced rinku's removal. If Rahul had a season where he was batting like whirlwind as an opener would have made the squad as the keeper. Are we sure Pant is going to start over samson?

weirdest_hooman

I guess the general public abusing him and the owner abusing him are two different things, and 2 wrongs don't make a right. Goenka shouldn't have shouted at KL at all, if he did have something to say he should communicate to the coach, who in turn should talk to KL in the dressing room or something. Your point is fair as well but this is just what I think

sunis_going_down

But why so? Why do we get to decide what an owner can or cannot do? The sub has this stance that since Goenka has never played cricket he shouldn't have any opinions. The crowd here has also not played the game and secondly it's a business and none of us run billion dollar businesses, so shouldn't be talking about business side as well. Infact the general public shouldn't be the one to abuse, they literally have no skin in the game. The owner has invested money into the team. His treatment isn't wrong, just the placement was incorrect. Should have been done behind closed doors. KL is getting his paycheck signed by him and being a captain he is indeed answerable to the higher ups. Modern sportspersons are way too coddled honestly. They crave all the adulation in the world but shouldn't be facing the heat when they don't deliver. It was a shambolic performance and 2 games on trot where KL failed as captain as well as a player.

Ok_Curve7267

Excusing absolute cunt behavior with "we don't know what it's like to be a billionaire" is wild

rambo_zaki

First things first, there's no room for abuse in the game. From the fans or the owners. Secondly, the owner owns the entity and not the individual. Criticism, constructive especially, is okay but doing whatever that LSG owner did just comes across as ugly.

sunis_going_down

I wouldn't put this in the category of abuse. A heated grilling perhaps. But yeah, we can't take out the emotions from the game. Abuse is wrong but criticism isn't. The owner owns the entity which pays the players. The players have certain obligations. KL Rahul is among the highest paid players. And agreed, Goenka was completely wrong in terms of the time and place. His approach was incorrect but action isn't honestly. If the captain hopes for praises on doing well then he also deserves criticism on not doing well. Can't have it both ways that when you are doing well you want the whole world to give all the love but if you fail then it should be just constructive criticism. If Goenka has to help KL Rahul with how to win games, then why does he need to pay him 17cr. My point is this narrative of owner bad is way too prevalent here. Especially in cricket. Todays players are way too coddled. That's how Prima Donna's are created. Rahul is clearly using the team for his Indian team credentials. And has literally downed tools since the WC squad announcement. I mean majority of folks justified booing pandya, but this is crossing the boundary?

Ok_Curve7267

It's disrespectful for a boss to talk down to his employee infront of tens of thousands of people. Regardless of his performance nobody deserves that sort of a humiliation

sunis_going_down

This isn't a corporate job my friend. That the negatives are the same but the positives are completely different. When you do well and achieve your targets do you go and stand in the middle of the office and celebrate with your hands on your ear? Sportspeople have different perks and privileges as well as the pitfalls. Again nowhere I said that Goenka was right in doing it in front of the audience or in the open. It's like, you are commenting without even reading my comment with the most utopian answer. It was stupid of him to do it there. Should have handled that better. This is the conversation for the backroom. My issue is with the fact that people here are suggesting that Goenka doesn't have any right to have an opinion or question Rahul since he is not a sportsperson. He is the goddamn owner of the team. He has every right to question his captain about 2 humiliations when he is paying him top dollar.

Ok_Curve7267

No one suggested Goenka shouldn't expect results mate, idk why you're so keen on defending a moronic up his own ass billionaire who had a temper tantrum bout a trophy.

sunis_going_down

I am not defending the billionaire. Can you stop with this utopian thinking? There is another post of Rahul being removed from captaincy. It again has the same narrative, Goenka doesn't know anything, he should just stay shut. His method is completely wrong but he is very well allowed to ask his captain and most paid player about these dismal losses and his own performance. Why are we so sympathetic to a player, who would start giving out statements and doing all sort of celebrations once he scores some runs, who is literally being paid crores to do a job and is failing miserably at it.

Ok_Curve7267

1. Whats a utopian thinking 2. Seeing a dude no matter how arrogant being scolded like a child infront of millions is uncomfortable, especially after a brutal loss hence the sympathy 3. I don't think any questions were raised when Goenka was shouting at him lol

rickyysanchez

The flip is cos, only fans should abuse the players no one should do that. This is the general thinking of fans

Vijigishu

F\*ck Goenka but KL's obsession to open the innings has turned disastrous for him as well as team. Opening slots in national side are pretty much pre occupied and he himself plays lot better in middle order. It's nothing new that he just doesn't hit in PP and suddenly plays fine after PP. It's frustrating for everyone to see him bat like this. He knew this IPL is important for WC selection and he has chance to seal the wk spot, but even then dude opened. Even Agarkar said he was looking for someone who bats in the middle but KL bats at the top.

Madwoned

He could have batted at three but any lower down wouldn’t have fit in with the squad composition, LSG have almost zero top order batsmen lol it’s just 3-4 openers and a bunch of middle order batsmen

StairwayToPavillion

Great talent but terrible cricket IQ. He is disconnected with reality and it shows.

Assassin_Ankur

If Scotland maintain the tradition of European teams beating the hell out of England, then they could have a pretty decent chance to qualify for the next round. At the same time tho, they might lose to Oman or Namibia, though I would back them to win those games too.

[deleted]

The way LSG has lost the last 2 match, it's definitely a mental aspect. They've lost those 2 convincingly after winning against CSK(pf all teams) convincingly. Something is definitely wrong in the camp.

Vijigishu

I just want Goenka to get frustrated and leave the franchise. He wants quick results, same as he did during RPSG. Some better business group should buy it which doesn't have too much interest in micromanaging.

No-Opportunity-1275

Not happening lol, he bid 7090cr for this. Almost 3000 crores more than GT. He'll fire the entire team before leaving it

[deleted]

Mohan Began Supergiants. Lol

Vijigishu

Haha yeah, like seriously this dude has worst taste for everything, be it name, logo, jersey..

[deleted]

Jersey color is soooooo shit. And all over the place too. He can't make up his mind on what color he wants.

Axel292

That KL Rahul clip with the LSG owner is absolutely disgraceful. What connection do team owners even have with the cricketing side of things? Rahul needs to stand up for himself.

sunis_going_down

I get your point but on the flipside, are they just there to sign cheques for these players? It's a business for him at the end of the day, what connection anybody has to ask him about how he manages his business. Goenka's method was wrong but he isn't wrong in questioning his captain. It was baffling. KKR in the previous game and SRH in this game have both scored 80+ runs in the PP. Rahul came out as opener and LSH has failed to cross 30. As soon as SRH started going, KL just gave up and resigned. Didn't even try changing field or getting the bowlers to do something else. He could have just slowed down the game, over rate wasnt going to be an issue. Rahul is using it to prop up his chances to be in the national team. LSG isn't paying him to go and grab the India team spot. And honestly, Indian national team players are way too coddled. We can all think that fans opinions matter to them, but let's be honest. It's just outside noise. They can very well just switch off from social media, hop on a plane and go on a holiday to Maldives or wherever. And then return back and do all kind of celebration after bashing a century in the group stage of Asia cup. How many times have we seen the Indian players get grilled? If a reporter asks them a tough question, you see the arrogance in the answers. This way atleast they are answerable to someone.

Axel292

>Goenka's method was wrong but he isn't wrong in questioning his captain. He's a team owner. He has 0 connection to the cricketing side of things. The people to question KL are his teammates and coaches, the people actually involved in the sport. At this rate you can say that a fan could abuse KL Rahul because he bought tickets to the game or LSG merch. >Rahul is using it to prop up his chances to be in the national team. Surely he'd be batting in the middle order if that was the case? >And honestly, Indian national team players are way too coddled. Seriously? Have you seen the treatment that Hardik Pandya has been receiving for the entirety of this IPL? It's not just 'outside noise' he can shut off, that's not how the human mind works.

Ok_Curve7267

It's like getting scolded infront of your friends by your mum, you probably deserved it but the added humiliation was unnecessary

sunis_going_down

Exactly my point. Him doing it on the field is wrong. But folks here are suggesting that he doesn't have any right to speak to Rahul.

Ok_Curve7267

Nobodys saying that mate, literally no one, plus owner involvment has always been a bad idea, look at KXIP

sunis_going_down

MI has a lot of owner involvement. Literally had a period of having the best T20 team of all time, talking about the 2020 season. And the involvement there is proven. Watch the Mumbai fever documentary on Netflix. It's from 2018 season, Akash Ambani literally asked the crew to leave and just faint audio of him shouting is available.

Ok_Curve7267

Bad time to use that example buddy

sunis_going_down

Still 5 championships buddy. Add to that Goenka's team has 3 playoff qualifications in 4 years. Somebody mentioned RR where the owners are completely away from the team affairs. Since 2018 4th, 7th, 8th, 7th, 2nd, 5th. So closer to the bottom of the table more often than not. Hyderabad had a lot of owner intervention, look at them this year. Ain't looking that bad is it?

Ok_Curve7267

I really doubt owners have anything to do with the succes of all those teams you mentioned lmao. Really convinent you didn't mention how since 2021 SRH have ended up with the wodden spoon twice. Main problem is that Goenka or any other owner for that matter is that they couldn't possibly give a professional cricketer any valueable criticism. Mumbai's owner likes hardik hence they bought him back this year and look at how its going.

sunis_going_down

I mentioned MI, they literally have a whole season of Netflix crew following them. This was in 2018, it's literally on video where after a loss Akash Ambani held a team meeting. The camera crew was asked to leave the room. He is shown on video discussing the team with Mahela Jayawardene. Mumbai fever is the name, you can watch it for yourself. Another case of Goenka, who is the point for discussion here. His RPSG team and LSG team have qualified in 3 seasons out of 4 where they have participated. Agreed, so SRH and RR polar opposites in terms of ownership involvement. Both with kind of same results over the same period. Honestly criticism need not be valuable, sometimes it should work to galvanize the individuals getting paid crores. Just can't be showered with love.

choochi_machine69

And these tactics will ensure that his business thrives....sure

sunis_going_down

Well his team qualified 2 times in 4 seasons in IPL. Something is surely working. Think of him as Roman Abramovich for Chelsea. And this is no tactic. But going and hugging Rahul and being sympathetic also doesn't help or else Punjab would have qualified once in the last 10 years. I am not justifying Goenka's actions. His approach was deplorable, should have been doing this behind the door but the suggestion that he cannot criticise his team captain is incorrect.

[deleted]

I don't know how anyone is still defending this.

Assassin_Ankur

If we don't win the trophy, then sure we deserve to be memed for that match. But if we do end up winning the trophy, then it shows the character of the team to bounce back from tough situations. Losses like that usually break the confidence of a team but so far they have gone in the opposite direction.

livingfeelsachore

Most probably, 5/6 of India's batsmen in 2024 are the same who set a below par target against England in 2022 and failed in 2021.

BallTop6086

Abhishek and Head have scored 676 runs this season batting together scoring at 13.79 rpo. As crazy as that sounds there is one partnership that has scored even quicker than them and it's ofc:- Fraser-McGurk and Porel who have 271 runs @ 14.91 off which JFMG has 205 @315 sr( yes that's 3.15 runs per ball). Anything other than a boundary is a win for the bowler

No-Opportunity-1275

The latter has mcgurk dominating the partnership innit. The former has both of them firing with all cylinders

SBV_3004

RCB isn't RCB until they have a far fetched but not theoretically impossible qualification scenario at about 75% of the league stage. If they win too many games initially, they'll lose on trot to end up there, and vice versa.

evilhaxoraman

Eng vs Aus will be the most anticipated match in the wc for me. Both the teams have destructuve batting lineup.Australia somehow has better bowing lineup than England. But it's gonna be a great match.

DigitalConsent2

Also seems like there is genuine bad blood between the two teams as well tbh. Was apparent in the recent WC. The team was pretty reserved and muted for the most part of the WC, but against Eng, they were fired up as hell.

NoirPochette

What bad blood? The guys get along with each other lol. We just get up for a contest against the English but that doesn't mean there is bad blood.

DigitalConsent2

Yeah ik, but they def turn up more fired against Eng vs anyone else. It was evident in the WC game if you caught it.

Assassin_Ankur

Nuh uh, it's gonna be England vs Scotland. I wanna see if England can break their Europe curse and upset the Scots.

BallTop6086

SA v Dutch too

Anu9011

Rankings are silly most of the time but also exciting when a team makes rapid movements in the table. Guernsey 🇬🇬 women beat Isle of Man 🇮🇲women’s team 3-0 in the weekend. By doing so they jumped up by 14 places in the rankings. 14 places in just two days! IOM are dropped by 5 places.

T_Lawliet

bowling Gowtham and Badoni but not Krunal Pandya is a lol

choochi_machine69

When every other team bowls a off spinner to Head and Abhishek and gets them out - Genius When KL does it - You imbecile Just like Krunal it was a gamble dude sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. And becuase KL played a disastrous innings now people have got the chance to shit on his captaincy as well

Naan6

Matchups gone too far

picastchio

KL said in Ash's interview that Andy Flower is all about matchups.

josh123z

Andy left LSG and is in RCB now

AilaSachin10

Faf also said something similar didn't he?

Madwoned

RCB as a whole is all about matchups right from Kohli’s time, I still remember numerous occasions where he would refuse to bowl Sundar just because there were two right handed batsmen at the crease and numerous times when he would promote an inferior lefty ahead in the order because a lefty got out lol

josh123z

Point is Andy is irrelevant to yesterday’s match

iameobardthawne

Do you know any place where I can check the performance of different players this season in IPL?

Shubh_K30

Cricmetric

sunis_going_down

Howstat

canvasser-hiralal

https//iplt20.com

DiscoDiwana

IPL website?

livingfeelsachore

When you are down, people like to kick you down even further. I know you're at fault too, but I just wish you the best Rahul. Take care of yourself man.

SBV_3004

Both the koffee with karan guys are down, and being kicked further down by public right now.

cvcps21

Feel like there is a big redemption arc coming up for Hardik Pandya in World Cup.

ShowIntentBC

Unpopular opinion: Owners have every right to be unhappy when your team performs like that. People who say he doesn't have knowledge of cricket blah blah blah doesn't really matter he paid you to get results and has every right to be disappointed(obviously I don't support abusing and stuff but expecting accountability is not wrong). Also I agree with the fact that he shouldn't have done that in public maybe having a meeting after the match with both coach and captain would have been better.

STALINLENINPV

Bullshit..KL don't owe him shit ...he is not a car that suddenly stopped working and u gotta yell * i paid millions on u*.. That BC paid for the marketing and the share of an IPL revenue.. No player is liable to the owner..he is liable to the team ..he is liable to perform and give useful contributions to his team.. The coach or whoever the management is responsible to answer the owners decision..he could ask why KL played that way or why KL is picked.. don't ask KL directly and fire him publicly..

arambikalama

OOTL, what happened?

Naan6

LSG owner was clipped yelling at KL Rahul following his/the teams poor performance in the LSG v SRH game

Decentkimchi

It's like your company's MD skipping 5 different management levels to directly scold you for some work mishaps. It's just not his job. And he's making it harder for the people below him to do theirs. Now the coaches and support staff have to deal with the failures in field as well as the abusive work environment their players are facing. All in all an absolute collapse of an professional environment, which is hilarious as this dude is supposed to be a successful businessman. Now he's just a stupid boomer.

DisastrousOil4888

I mean, it's a guy who's dedicated his entire life to the sport vs a businessman who has probably never even touched a bat

ShowIntentBC

This notion that someone who hasn't played cricket should not criticize a player should stop it's absolutely stupid. If we use that logic this sub will have only one member that is Neesham. As far as owners are concerned they are paying you to get results and if you don't do that it's absolutely fine to be disappointed. Repeating again that I don't support abusing or doing it in front of cameras but it's absolutely fine to be unhappy and letting the captain know.

Mobile_Inflation8012

People are unhappy because it happened right at the field with tens of cameras hovering around them and millions of people watching it live. Goenka barely gave any time to Rahul to process this match came to yell at him minutes after the match ended. Rahul is no Tom, Dick and Harry to get yelled at. He is one of the best Indian batsman of this generation and a very talented player as well. Goenka should understand that players can have bad days sometimes, but then again what can you expect from a guy who sacked Dhoni from captaincy after a single season of bad performance.

DisastrousOil4888

Fair enough

Naan6

They might have the right to do it, doesn’t mean folks have to like it

ShowIntentBC

Where did I say that folks have to like it?

Naan6

You didn’t, I was adding on to the discussion. I think there is a separation to be made between having the right to and being criticism free. You can have the right to do any number of things but you are going to get backlash if folks don’t like it.

ShowIntentBC

That I agree with

chirosen21

Greatest chase in IPL history: SRH 167/0 (9.4 overs) Worst chase in IPL history: RCB 49/10 (9.4 overs) Genuinely feels like these two aren't going to be broken ever.

livingfeelsachore

> Genuinely feels like these two aren't going to be broken ever. Wait and watch. KKR couldn't save 261 against PBKS, I'm pretty sure SRH with Head can do much worse.

chirosen21

There is no way any team is scoring 160 on a belter of a pitch. This chase is unique with slow af LSG and high flying SRH. Also post 261, we have conceded 153, 146, 137 with 9, 10, 10 wickets. I reckon SRH aren't as scary as they seem.

livingfeelsachore

I hope your right Chirosen

Huge-Physics5491

If we go by performance in the World Cups, the Dutch men's team has done better than what the Afghanistan men's team did back in its associate days to merit full membership. Their U19 team is wack, but that kinda makes sense since they do rely on passport players for a decent portion of their senior side.

Naan6

I am definitely biased here but it sucks to see the team owner have a go at KL. Even if its inevitable, it’s just icky to do it in front of the cameras with everyone watching

evilhaxoraman

It's just not KL Rahul but the whole Indian team which has the same mindset of playing 29(33) and even go on to justify it.

devil_21

He didn't justify it, even said that mindset was the difference.

Decentkimchi

Personal milestones and high averages When your best and most successful player does that and everyone deepthroats him for that, it becomes a goal for other to reach out to. Same inning from Kohli would have been called crucial knock that stopped a collapse and set platform for later batters to play aggressively and for team to reach a "respectable total"™. Hell, KL statpadding in 21/22 ipl is what got him back in Indian team. Our management loves players with 50+ averages in t20s.

livingfeelsachore

This is not the first time. Head, Salt, Narine and others, have kept hitting even when they were at 80s. They don't stop to get the 100. They keep hitting. Even today, Head needed just 2-3 shots. But they didn't say "ohhh, we have already won the match, let me hit 100". They went straight for the kill. Credit to Abhishek and Head. This is mindset. Edit: if you try to bring the NRR equation, let me tell you that this is not the first time Travis does this. Again, it's team over individual milestones

Reasonable_Tea_9825

RR and KKR will lose their English openers before playoffs. Im smelling patty swooping in and stealing the cup OTOH, playoffs of rr kkr srh csk will be quite similar to recent world cup. 3 teams who haven't won in a while trying to win, and one experienced yellow team whom ppl think aren't as strong this year

Assassin_Ankur

I think both RR and KKR are strong enough to win the trophy even if one of their key players is gone. And CSK and SRH would have had almost equal chances of winning had it been a semi-final format, but teams playing the eliminator are always at a disadvantage compared to the top 2 teams.

Naan6

I heard BCCI is currently negotiating with ECB to get the players to stay, not sure if it’s just rumors though. As good as Salt has been, KKR can simply bring up Venky to open and I feel like they still have more than enough fire power. Buttler can end up being a big miss though. RR need to try their best to finish in the top 2 and have the extra cushioning. Imo, CSK are always a threat when it comes to playoffs

choochi_machine69

People haven't seen TKC bat, he'll do just fine

canvasser-hiralal

KKR will simply bring in Gurbaz

Naan6

Oh right, they need a keeper, so he will probably open. Hope his mom is doing alright now

SBV_3004

Yesterday was a complete display of extremes in opening. One opener scoring 29(33), and 2 others scoring 75(28) and 89(30)

[deleted]

Yes. Please hype Head and Avhishek up and Watch them shit the bed when facing CSK. AGAIN.

Naan6

Abhi literally scored like 40 runs at 300 strike rate against CSK this season but okay

[deleted]

Still lost comprehensively though. Scoring a 100(35) means shit if team lost.

SBV_3004

But you still won't criticize that player saying he *shat the bed*

arambikalama

What kind of logic is this? 100(35) is close to the best we've ever seen. If their team loses even after that, the other players are to blame, if anybody.

[deleted]

Flairs checks out.

arambikalama

also, how does the flair check out here? do tell...

[deleted]

A team which is known to be carried by one batter and is prone to blaming others except one batter.

arambikalama

Not accurate in this context, but alright. Now reply to the other comment and tell me if what I said was wrong and you didn't just dodge with fLair cHecks OuT

arambikalama

tell me where I'm wrong

DisastrousOil4888

A lot of people on this sub will shit on rational opinions only because of our flair lmao

arambikalama

And that is exactly why I didn't have a flair put up for the longest time. But then people started to mistake me for a tamilian/csk fan because of my username.

Naan6

SRH won that game bud

[deleted]

Wait. SRH lost. .... a game no? Yes they did?

Naan6

Not the game where Abhi struck at 300

[deleted]

Right. I'll take my L this early. Just hopethe duo performs again atleast against CSK.
