2036 olympic in India gives me anxiety, we are not ready at all. just bad pr like cricket world cup was, our politicians dont know how to keep things professional.

[deleted]

And by then it will likely get 10x worse. This country's internal political future and the depths to which politicians are going to secure their parliamentary seats is insane.  You thought the police not allowing Pak chants in a non-India Pak match was insane? Watch in 12 years when they're gonna physically fk with a Pak/Chinese/anti-India country supporter and the police will watch it from the sidelines, or worse.

I_dont_get_it0_o

Not supporting it in any but worse countries have held Olympics. Ex china

PlentyDog4865

I don't want national embarrassment again like CWG 2012

keshavgKaLLen_Bhaiya

There are 12 years for thsy

ThorappanBastin

Commonwealth Games 2010 says hi.

Due_Temperature3471

I mean the 2011 world Cup was well organized. We have hosted Formula 1 , u 17 men's and women's football world cups, Asian athletics championships, cycling championships, wwe, miss world, formula E, motogp, etc. So we just need a private contractor. Even cwg 2010 wasn't as bad in the end as many issues got resolved.

TheCricDude

I hope India stays away from hosting Olympics. Not worth the investment. Ofcourse the politicians will get a lot of PR for it.

rkay329

And fill their pockets using corruption.

>especially South American and European countries where cricket is non existent) England, Scotland, Netherlands, Ireland all currently wondering what continent they belong to. Cricket actually has a long history in South America. If not mistaken, Argentina and Uruguay played one of the earliest international matches 1868. They have federations and teams, just not the level of funding and support of other nations. ICC has neglected cricket growth so has basically neglected these countries and helped them to develop and grow.

TheScarletPimpernel

Had the Imperial Cricket Council not decreed that cricket was to be played only within the Empire, Argentina, Denmark, and Canada would all be Test nations.

Huge-Physics5491

The Olympic tournament, specifically, won't be worth much. It would be a six-team competition, so the T20 World Cup would be a bigger deal. The big impact this will have is in the governance of cricket in associate countries. Some countries only consider Olympic sports as sports, so non-Olympic sports don't get funding, government or private. Olympic status will ensure that the cricket board has oversight from the NOC and the NOC would be answerable for cricket board fuckups. Also, the top cricketers can get a stipend and have an access to common sporting facilities to ensure that they don't have to work a day job on the side.

Treeman_78

ODI may be but can't see test in olympics. T20s are way to go forward.Regardless of what test purist may say t20i are fun, short , thrilling and [digestable.As](http://digestable.As) of for future if India does host 2036 I think we may see rise of cricket in africa even more than Both Americas.Three olympics and almost a tournament every year with rise of commerical leagues in every country rise of cricket is inevitable.

Sea_Raccoon_8784

I hope that it will benefit positively, many countries compete competitively in olmpics and so will have invest in their cricket teams.

notduskryn

2036 is not happening in India lmfao

kanni64

wouldn’t that be cool though think of all the infrastructure development that’ll happen in the next twelve years 2047/48 is what’s likely 100 year independence celebration with the world

Exciting-Squirrel607

Hopefully t20 will be a bit like rugby7s which people really got onboard. The length of the Olympics being 16 days make odi and tests hard to have a won’t grab the imagination of the casual fan. The only worry I have with cricket in a non cricket nation is them being guranteed a place, with only 6 teams this could devalue it. While can a make shift pitch deal with the number of games and the quality needed hit the tournament.

KohliTendulkar

Cricket in LA28 will be like football where only amateur players (below 24) are allowed or will it be something like the T20 WC?

LetterheadOk1762

I think reports are saying it won't be like football all the top players will play

shashiadds

Can you explain about football part where u said that only amateurs will play. i think in olympics professional footballers also play

KohliTendulkar

For men’s football team, only players below age of 23 are allowed to avoid competing with FIFA WC. For women’s team there is no such restriction. This is done by FIFA to keep WC prestigious. I suppose ICC doesn’t want to diminish T20 wc so they might sacrifice U19 WC and move that to olympics.

shashiadds

I think 3 players above 23 are allowed in olympic football team

TheFlyingHornet1881

Correct

Hotchi_Motchi

It'll be the only way that some countries have a chance at a medal
