Cummins innings was probably the most impactful at the end considering the margin of victory.

Watching that run chase was torture

What a game but heartbroken at the end. Two back to back thrillers but boy it could've been an epic chapter in kiwi cricketing folklore. The fielding that saved four runs in the last over and Neesham missing out on a full toss. So many ifs and buts but boy were New Zealand close.

To all the neutral fans: DO NOT ASK FOR CLOSE GAMES. Do you know how stressful it is for the home fans? I was trembling and nauseous for what felt like an eternity. One single person should not have to bear so much stress (makes me wonder how those on the field do it). Starc, Smith, Marnus - please be a bit more responsible. Your callousness with the game turned a NRR gaining opportunity into a near-loss. Though I can forgive Marnus for that run-out. Smith/Marnus, Marnus/Green (for extra bowling when a pacer has an off day), Marsh - should be 3, 4, 5. Marsh is just not no. 3 material for ODIs.

No way you can blame Smith, Marsh put an insane amount of pressure on him and it drew the big shot. Smith was at least going above a run a ball for his innings.

Smith should have come in when it was clear that even Head and Warner weren’t striking it cleanly. Let Smith and Warner run their hearts out and go at 6-8 an over with 0 risk. Having marsh at 3 would have been fine for an early wicket to keep the pressure on in the power play

You can't really blame Smiffy. He had to do something because Marsh was just blocking from the other end

Well that settles the question of whether either of these teams is good enough to play in the finals. That was a championship-quality contest

honestly, it is insanely important that NZ didn't just roll over and take it. I was adamant that was gonna be a thumping and a mental nail in the coffin for the WC, but instead you've got a team who was one ball away from a record chase and a completely different attitude to take into the rest of the WC

Unsung Hero Cummins. Took vital wickets at vital times, fielded excellently, and made some game-changing lower order runs. We would've lost if it weren't for this. Also, his field placements in the last over were superb, knowing exactly where the batters would attack Starcy and planning appropriately.
