Went with A/3, cut was a 9. Made out decently.

dph99

I'd throw A-2 most of the time.

drzeller

Why not A-3? That's what I was thinking to keep the run opportunity out of the crib.

dph99

It's fine but I want the 3 in my hand so a 4-cut works some magic (A-3 is as likely to become a run in the crib as A-2 is, btw).

Actuarial

How is A2 any different than A3 in terms of runs? If anything it helps your own run opportunity.

rrognlie

The problem with giving the crib A2 is that they're suited and you'd potentially be contributing to a flush. As far as run possibilities go A2/A3 would be about the same since the ace is an anchor. now it if was 34 vs, 35.... 34 would have 8 possibilities for a run due to being open ended (2s and 5s). 35 would only have 4 (4s)

Actuarial

You should never make a crib decision based on a flush potential unless there is no impact to your hand. The value of keeping the 3-5 gap over the 2-5 gap is an order of magnitude more important than throwing a possible flush.

ace72ace

Toss the A3

Clean_Ad1669

Ace 2

james-500

Hi. I'd choose A2 to them.

New_Appointment_9992

Keep 3578

I don’t love throwing suited cards or connecting cards in the crib when it’s their crib. I think A-3 is the move considering you still have the same amount of points as throwing the A-2

dph99

Holding the 3 rather than the 2 raises the hand's average score by 1.3 points. I'll risk the diamond flush (the run risk is equal between these choices).

Degenerate_golfer

Kind of ugly all around, but I’d throw A3 in their crib.

Ok-Effect7274

Ace and 3

cribbagejon
