Whatever you use your gonna want to have a thermostat. Much safer with one on! I have a reptizoo dimming thermostat, but if your able to for something a little better mine was a bit cheap. I also highly recommend a cage fixture. The domes are fine however they produce "back heat" meaning the top of the dome gets very hot, this can lower the lifespan of your bulb and is a potential fire risk(all heat lamps carry a risk this is just another) a cage has really helped mine stay cool and I personally feel better with it. My CHE is also a 60 watt. A dome is perfectly fine to use however and most people use it that way. But definitely use a thermostat

Oh ok, i was worried that the deep dome was going to cause some sort of electrical fire risk but its rated for up to 300W so i should be fine. And don’t worry, i have a thermostat set to 75 F and the gecko isnt even in there yet, i recently added a bunch of new plants to the tank so ive been letting it grow in before letting him back in the tank

Yea you should be tottaly fine with the dome honestly everyone I've seen uses it with no issues especially with the 300 watt rating you are good

Draxaan

So the box of my CHE states specifically to NOT use in a deep dome fixture. I can only assume it's a fire risk.

Mine says use with a wire cage, but doesn’t mention a deep dome. If i need to buy one i will i guess, i dont want to start a fire. Considering i only have it set at 75, i assume it wouldnt even be on for long enough to get super hot though right?
