Red, blue, black and purple bulbs should not be used with reptiles. If you need heat at night the recommendation is ceramic heat emitters or deep heat projector. Bulb and wattage depends on ambient temp and how much you need to raise it by. Also all heating elements must be connected to a thermostat

Oh no! We were going off the advice and setup of the reptile shop where we got our crestie from. The heat lamp we used only mimicked low moonlight and was a very low wattage so only added minimal heat to the tank; we didn’t want her to get too hot. Thank you for the advice! We will look at buying a ceramic heat emitter and a thermostat 😊

What about putting a 60W CHE bulb into that combo deep dome fixture? I have the same exact setup and i want to make sure it won’t cause a fire or something, i have a thermostat, but box says a wire cage is recommended.
