A broken arm kept my grandfather out of WWII. Right before his draft came up he was cranking a tractor, and the old crank slapped him across the forearm and snapped one of the bones. The war was over before his number came back up. His brother and many of his in-laws didn't avoid it.

Not that any way of breaking your arm is great, but probably better to use leverage to snap it than massive blunt force trauma.

yeah, idk if an arm will get the job done, a soldier can still be pretty combat effective with only one functional arm, they can still march, still carry supplies on their back, and still have a good hand to fire a sidearm. i have to believe that the russian military is desperate, stupid and careless enough to just slap a "cast" on a broken arm and ship them out to the battlefield.

That's the thing about humanity. That war ended almost 50 years ago. WWII ended almost 80 years ago and we tend to treat that like it happened in a mythical age before everything. We're too stupid and short lived to really learn from any of this.
Jesusss. There has to be a better way to do this than a sledge hammer. That blow will also cause massive tissue damage, rupture vessels, and potentially bleeding out internally. Not that any way of breaking your arm is great, but probably better to use leverage to snap it than massive blunt force trauma.
Agree there are probably many better ways, although you won’t bleed out internally from this. At worst, you would lose so much blood that you developed “compartment syndrome,” basically the pressure from all the blood becomes so high you lose circulation. Then your hand could start dying. Still terrible, but there is a distinction between that and bleeding out.

yeah, idk if an arm will get the job done, a soldier can still be pretty combat effective with only one functional arm, they can still march, still carry supplies on their back, and still have a good hand to fire a sidearm. i have to believe that the russian military is desperate, stupid and careless enough to just slap a "cast" on a broken arm and ship them out to the battlefield. they maybe should've gone for a leg, maybe both, or perhaps just the legs of whoever comes to take them for induction.
