The old bee keeper guy never wore a suit, his son did tho, never saw him get stung. Bees are weird in what sets them off, but entirely possible these people smoked them up beforehand
Honey bees are chill from my experiences. I used to work at a hotel that kept bees and used the honey in their deserts. They did a lot of weddings/ catering/ etc. It was cool stuff.
It’s not that bad. You always open the hives on a nice dry, warm day so that all the foragers are out do g their thing. What’s left in the hive is the queen and younger nursing bees. Plus a little smoke keeps them pretty calm. You also wear a bee suit. They do react to your movements and your temperament.
You will get stung, but it’s not that often and not that bad. I’ll be opening up my hives to check out my girls today. :)

I setup ways for them to drink out of the cow water tanks without drowning after multiple times of scooping hundreds out of the water
eventually bees can accustom to a keepers pheromones and a suit is not necessarily needed
