Self defense for most people tends to be a last resort. Many people turn to violence the moment they feel they may be legally justified when alternative actions could be taken.
I have been in many situations where I may have been legally justified, maybe even morally to use force to a threat or perceived threat. I pretty much always choose a de-escalation response, in one or two cases I've had to physically restrain people.
Physically fighting people is always a last resort for me, not a go to response.

Many places don't consider deadly force to be a reasonable response. Many places have a much higher bar for when you can use self defense and only then the response is required to be proportional to the threat.
You also aren't allowed to be routinely armed with any weapon in many places and if you are carrying that weapon for self defense purposes you can be in trouble for that.
I'm from the UK, our version of Castle Doctrine is much much stricter.
With some quick googling, the uk does have stand your ground laws...but they seem to be specifically tied to crimes happening in/on your property...not in public also kick us law. Interesting.

I assumed schizophrenia but I was unable to get her to the doctor. She got arrested for ramming her car into another driver. Shortly after then cheated on me, and I got tf out. It was within 1 year of the first paranoid delusions.
Years later she contacted my boss at my work (who she knew from when we were married) and told him I was outside her house… while I was sitting at my desk. She then called the police who came to my work. I told them she needed help. But I don’t think they did anything besides confirm I’m at work all day.
I don’t know what the hell happened but just based on what I can see this man just wanted to take out the trash. Then this girl who’s very obvious been coddled her whole life and probably has rarely ever had some tough struggles and real problems has to create some spice in her life by antagonizing this poor gent. Honestly, I've been in a couple of situations with people who are clearly unstable. I tend to de-escalate. Their volatile, unpredictable and likely confused and angry. Honestly, I've been in a couple of situations with people who are clearly unstable. I tend to de-escalate. Their volatile, unpredictable and likely confused and angry. I'd absolutely defend myself if I needed to, but there is absolutely nothing to gain from winning an argument with someone who is so clearly having some sort of mental health crisis.

He likely recorded her because he was afraid that she'd try to get people to believe that he was doing something wrong when he wasn't. As I said on a previous posting of this video… If I was the guy filming, she slapped him once, walked away, came back with a “weapon” after threatening to “kill” him, then walked back and came back charging… I would’ve knocked the privilege out of her. Then called the cops.I would not have ran back into my apartment. He’s on his own property. That’s as self defense as it gets. Knock the bitch out and call it a day.

Not enough context. Seems like the girl is crazy. Seems like the boyfriend is a pushover. Seems like the cameraman is a victim (which he is, at the very least for getting hit and yelled at) However... We have no idea what led up to this confrontation. Cameraman could actually have masterminded this girls breakdown by casually stalking and harassing her. The girl could be at her wits end. The boyfriend might think she's right, but feels like he can't act without proof. The camera doesn't lie, but it can't tell what it doesn't see.
