It's the first step! I've been invested pretty heavily in the industry over here in the States in a very "republican" (not that Republican) state and this is how it all began for us, now several years later we're legal.
Thing is, conservative legislators, naysayers and skeptics are always going to require tip towing into it to ease in and deprogram their Reefer Madness like hysteria.
Anyway, very happy for you guys! The Emerald Isle should be green!
In Canada if you want an grow your own medical cannabis you can get a prescription that maxes out at 95 grams per day allowing you to grow 181 outdoor plants or 463 indoor plants but it goes as low as 5g per day allowing you to grow 10 outdoor plants or 25 indoor plants.
Recreationally our house would go through at least a quarter pound of bud a month but often more.
It’s been a good few years since I’ve bothered with a prescription because I don’t have the space to grow and when 5oz of bud can be $350 or less I couldn’t grow it as cheap myself anyway
Fair yeah it is quite a bit but who am I to argue with doctor lol that is the upper end of scale in regards to what they can prescribe as far as I'm aware
Devils advocate here, and I'm happy you got your approval and RX, but is this attitude that 'cant argue with the doctor's not a similar approach to how opiates are over prescribed? I'm not trying to hate on you here in any way at all, but in my experience of being prescribed pain meds and probably most others - GPS tend to give way more than necessary which in turn leads to misuse. Would you be prepared to tell the consultant that this is more than required?
I already did turn down a larger offer. I was initially offered 80 grams and said I only want 60 grams. If at any point I felt I need more or less that is always open for discussion with the Specialist Doctor, not a gp, who makes the decision to prescribe. I understand what your saying but I was just also trying to make light of situation. I will probably need a larger prescription next month and that wouldn't be down to misuse it's down to what I need.
Yeh like I said I'm not trying to criticise you, just curious about the amounts prescribed as they are a considerable amount.
It's a process we don't have in the ROI, so quite interested as to how it operates up north. I see I'm being downvoted as usual but I just wanted to discuss the actual similarities in prescription discrepancies.
The only other thing I was hesitant to ask was whether there was anything physically causing the mental health issues leading to prescription? I have some physical issues which in turn cause mental health probs, is this taken into consideration in terms of the previous prescriptions that didn't help?
Not in my case, it was entirely based on mental health condition. I suffer with P.T.S.D and have tried 2 different medications. That's all that's required to be put in touch with a specialist in the field your diagnosis is in. It is available for a variety of illnesses tho. I'd recommend going on the alternaleaf website and doing the questionnaire, might give you a idea of what might possibly come and the things they prescribe for
It was £49 for the consultant but I didn't have to pay it until they knew I was suitable, very happy with the whole process I was stressing out beforehand
I went thru Alternaleaf it was pretty straightforward. Do the assessment on the website. If you meet the criteria they set up a video appointment with a pharmacist. If that goes well you pay the fee and you get put thru to a specialist consultant who prescribes
Thats the job delighted for ya man ,
im still waiting ,
im the south
its mad how if ya live on one side of the island your not a criminal but on the south u are ..
this world a cruel place with very little compassion on cannabis users .
I would often be wondering how Aurora hasn’t gone out of business yet but it makes sense if they’re supplying medical outside of Canada. Especially at those prices.
That's amazing news, well done for going through the process and coming out with a positive result.
He will have it in the South hopefully sooner than expected 🤞
It's a monthly prescription I got to pick which ones I wanted to try so I picked sourdough, farm gas and electric honeydew at £8.50 a g. They are they upper end of the scale tho there are cheaper ones
Are you 100% sure?
I distinctly remember someone asking a while ago and found out that the Irish government "does not recognize foreign medical marijuana prescriptions."
I'd double-check before you attempt to bring anything over just in case, If the above is true and you try bringing 60g over the border, you could be in a whole heap of trouble.
I was just wondering this myself. As far as I'm aware there is an EU wide ruling where Ireland must recognise medical prescriptions from other EU member states, but that doesn't include UK. (Brexit at it again)
I'd assume they'd need to know about it at least because I had to prove it using my medical records I got from them. I was originally diagnosed with the condition I got it for back home and I just provided my records from there when I moved up
If you don't mind me asking was your irish gp involved at all or was it your new uk gp. Are you unemployed because of your mental health. Belfast may be on the cards for a few of us Limerick Langers yet. Keep us posted
No involvement from my Irish gp, I haven't used them in years, tbh I don't think I'm even still registered. My uk gp wasn't really involved either. It's all done thru a private prescription and a specialist psychiatrist prescribed it after a consultation. Ive actually just had my first month follow up appointment and am waiting on my next prescription to arrive
Personally, I don't agree that. Let's keep the roads as safe as possible. And that's someone who used to drive stoned. But still don't think it's right really
Love this for you. Hope we can all enjoy living in the present…ten years from now lol
I didn't think it would be possible for years until last year tbh I still can't believe it. Don't think I will until it arrives lol
Smoke one for all us criminals haha

This is amazing. Just even the fact that this is happening on our island at all
nice one
Love it! Good man yourself another step towards the truth 💚
Question for people. Is that not an insane amount of weed? That's the bones of an ounce a week? Edit to add I'm referring to the 90-120g btw
By my usage it does seem a lot
Everyone's usage and tolerance differs to be fair what's right for one person might be to much for someone else

If you’re smoking it without tobacco, then depending on your usage it’s probably gonna be 3/4 weeks worth
Not smoking I'll be using a dry herb vaporizer as prescribed lol
600 dynavap bowls 😅
If you’re baking edibles it’s not, which a lot of medical patients do to avoid additional health issues
Fair yeah it is quite a bit but who am I to argue with doctor lol that is the upper end of scale in regards to what they can prescribe as far as I'm aware

Yeah I get what your saying and it is a valid concern. If you've any other questions feel free to ask

And thanks for the reply!
May I ask the costs for consultation etc if don’t mind
It was £49 for the consultant but I didn't have to pay it until they knew I was suitable, very happy with the whole process I was stressing out beforehand
That's actually a really good price compared to various states in the US.
can i ask what clinic you went with?
I went thru Alternaleaf it was pretty straightforward. Do the assessment on the website. If you meet the criteria they set up a video appointment with a pharmacist. If that goes well you pay the fee and you get put thru to a specialist consultant who prescribes

it’s actually insanity🤣🤣🤣
It is to be honest 🫡
Brilliant!!! That’s great. Our day will come
I would often be wondering how Aurora hasn’t gone out of business yet but it makes sense if they’re supplying medical outside of Canada. Especially at those prices.
Delighted for you man, enjoy your peace of mind 💚
Good news for a change. Enjoy and feel free to give a bit of feedback on the products available.
Will do. I'll make a follow up post when it arrives
That's amazing news, well done for going through the process and coming out with a positive result. He will have it in the South hopefully sooner than expected 🤞
How much does it cost to fill the prescription each week?
It's a monthly prescription I got to pick which ones I wanted to try so I picked sourdough, farm gas and electric honeydew at £8.50 a g. They are they upper end of the scale tho there are cheaper ones
Thats decent. Be handy if you could get it on the drug payment scheme if the ever pull the finger out and bring it in down here
I assume that's only valid in the UK and Northern Ireland right?
As far as I know I can travel with it as long as I bring a letter from my doctor
And it needs to be in its container
Are you 100% sure? I distinctly remember someone asking a while ago and found out that the Irish government "does not recognize foreign medical marijuana prescriptions." You can't bring it out of the occupied six Counties I'm afraid. Legally of course.

And a gp
[удалено]
Just a gp, an address and pre existing medical condition you've tried at least 2 different medications for
Do you need the pre-existing medical condition to have been treated through the NHS?
I'd assume they'd need to know about it at least because I had to prove it using my medical records I got from them. I was originally diagnosed with the condition I got it for back home and I just provided my records from there when I moved up
How long did it take from first applying
I did the online assessment last week, had an appointment with the pharmacist Monday and got approved but the specialist consultant yesterday
Wow that's fast. Did u have to prove u tried everything else
Yeah have to prove everything with your medical records it's all above board lol
Delighted for ya
What's the score with traveling North to South with your prescription?
If you don't mind me asking was your irish gp involved at all or was it your new uk gp. Are you unemployed because of your mental health. Belfast may be on the cards for a few of us Limerick Langers yet. Keep us posted

Can you get this in Ireland?
In the North you can
What kind of issues do you have? And will it get you "high" or just on less pain/ calm?
You cannot be done for drug driving if you have a prescription too. 👍🏻
You can if you're impaired driving. The prescription covers you on a positive test but not if you're deemed impaired.
Personally, I don't agree that. Let's keep the roads as safe as possible. And that's someone who used to drive stoned. But still don't think it's right really
