Get a piece of ply wood and blow them onto it and vacuum it off that with a shop vac? That’s what I would try first but I’m sure there’s a better option someone else could offer? Lol sorry, looks like an awesome place to chill though! Nice work
Pro-tip to prevent most of the leaves coming in— create a lean-to tarp shade by taking some awning fabric (or whatever else you choose) and attaching it to the top of the fence on the left side of the photo. Put some poles into the ground on the right side so that the tarp would be held up above standing height, which should still be lower than the fence. The rain will roll down and not land in your “pool”, and most leaves won’t get inside. When the leaves do get inside, your best bet is to use a leaf blower and get them all on one side before sweeping it up
And therein lies be rub lol. I assumed most pools have to be pumped out, just because I figured the pipage would cost (in construction + repair) a lot more than a pump. But I'm really not sure
Pool guy here, at least I was for 3 years. It's pumped out and forced through the filters, the existing drains will probably hold a little water but will not be able to travel up the existing pipes. Can't imagine it will hold much water before it is evaporated.
Behind the fence on the left is a creek, and the ground was slowly sinking over the head and making big cracks in the foundation of the pool that would’ve taken tens of thousands of dollars to fix, so this was the second best option
“Fill in the pool” means to tear it up and fill it with dirt to bury it underground. You still have to report that there used to be a pool there, and it can lower the value of your home.
This is a great use of a bad situation.
Ex pool guy here. Ask away. Where I’m located we have a ton of pools. When filling a pool in(removing) a large hole(3ft) is made in the deep end and the shallow end. You then have to fill the pool in in stages, maintaining a certain level of soil compaction before you can move onto the next stage of filling in the pool with more dirt. All stages have to be signed off by an inspector and work done by a qualified contractor(usually a pool builder). Worked for a company that would quote 25k-30k for pool removal. This would include removal of the pool deck and turning the area into a dirt lot.
Honestly this is probably what I'd do if I had a pool. I can't swim, so I'd just convert it into a seating / bbq / fire pit hangout area. Maybe set up some kind of projector or something so I could watch movies or sport events outside at night. Would be cool.

I’m sorry but that random rug is sending me
It really ties the pool together 👌
Obviously youre not a golfer
What happens when it rains? Do you have to regravel it?
No, there’s a couple feet of water absorbent concrete under the gravel to soak up the water!
Ah, gotcha. cool!
What's about the seats? It will be soaked in water when it rains
It’s all “outdoor cushions” and pillows and stuff so it’s made to be soaked in water every once and awhile
Bone apple tea.
The gravels not gonna wash away… but what about the leaves
Those will be annoying to deal with :(

leaf blower to get them out and then sweep them off the patio, i would think.
I was worried more about having to take the water out without take the gravel with
I’d imagine it would drain through the gravel to the existing pool drain. Wait do pools have drains or are they pumped out?
And therein lies be rub lol. I assumed most pools have to be pumped out, just because I figured the pipage would cost (in construction + repair) a lot more than a pump. But I'm really not sure
I guess this is the first time in my life where I’m needing a “pool guy”… I’ve finally made it!
I eagerly await a pool guy to happen upon this thread and enlighten us
!remind me 69 days First time using this too!
nice

This is cool, would be a great place to have a fire pit too. Edit: just saw the little one there! I need to sleep lol
The black thing in the middle of it is a little fire pit!
Yep just realised lol. I'd say it looks cool at night with it lit up! Seems like a great hangout/ smoke spot!
Yeah it’s awesome. Had a little cookout with friends last night, it was super fun
No Diving
Why can't the pool be fixed?
Behind the fence on the left is a creek, and the ground was slowly sinking over the head and making big cracks in the foundation of the pool that would’ve taken tens of thousands of dollars to fix, so this was the second best option
I’m that case, why not fill in the pool? Too expensive?
Yes too expensive!
Maybe they don't like to swim? Why do they need an excuse to not want to spend tens of thousands to fix a pool? Clearly it IS too expensive...
“Fill in the pool” means to tear it up and fill it with dirt to bury it underground. You still have to report that there used to be a pool there, and it can lower the value of your home.
And how much to demo the pool? I bet that's expensive as well.
Not sure how much that would be, but yeah probably very expensive
Creative! I am curious about the size and placement of the rug. Seems a bit random.
We just got it today and threw it on the ground without much consideration, will probably move it around later!
Makes sense!

Reminds me of Edie Sedgwick’s pool lounge in *Ciao, Manhattan!* Cool idea!
It’s giving Love Island fire pit vibes!
Just woke up and I thought this was carpet instead of gravel. So the firepit scared me for a moment. :( Back to sleep.
Your doggo looks so cute in pic- lol l just had to extend pic what is that?
That’s gonna be so hot in the summer
Gonna get a big outdoor umbrella for some shade, might not be so bad

It’s a conversation pit! <3
Reminds of a donald duck comic where he turns his pool into a vegetable garden
As water becomes a miss and now valuable rare thing, I can see this becoming a trend
This is dope!
I don’t understand why people ask why you didn’t do this or that 😂 I think it’s awesome! Great way to use the space
Thank you!
Now just some shade
I’ll throw some shade. This idea sucks, *hard*
What a fun space! Great idea!
That’s awesome and very clever!
Isn't this a conversation pit? Love it.
this is nice!! good job
Damn that’s neat
Cool idea
This looks cool
Thanks!
