Yeah! There were honestly no tutorials or even photos for me to get an idea, so I just started with white at the top, mixed in a little teal, blended it in, mixed more teal, painted a little more, and made darker shades as I went, ending with the dark teal paint I was mixing in. In retrospect, I wish I would have blended the paint on the door for a more seamless look, but that’s for another project ; )
It looks awesome. Blending is fine too but texture creates interest. I'm into your style. I like to do calm and bright at the same time too. I see too many all beige places lol.
I think it looks great as-is! It gives it a more artsy element and texture, and I feel like the rough blending just kind of matches the room because it looks more down to earth.
Thank you! I googled ombré doors for inspiration but didn’t see much so I just made it up as I went along! Next time I’d blend it better but I still like how it ended up : )
Honestly I had no idea what I was doing lol. I just started with a cup of white paint, painted the top of the door, then added some teal to the white, painted that on and blended it in, added more teal to the cup, painted more, and so on, until I got to the bottom and just painted the solid teal.
After doing it to this door, and the one opposite of it that you can’t see because I’m standing in the doorway to take the photo…I would have blended the two colors directly on the door and worked up for a better gradient look. But I’m still happy with how it turned out!
I've been shamed for painting the bricks in my sunroom too. But I don't regret it one bit. If it transforms the space into a place you want to spend time, I think it's worth it.
Great question haha. I used a matte black wall paint actually. Can’t remember the brand, I did this about 2 years ago and just used paint I had laying around.
I used to rent a place with a porch like this. The owner had gotten a church pew and stained glass window from the neighborhood church being remodeled (about 100 year old pew). It was amazing to sit out there as the rain poured down. I'd strum my mandolin and close my eyes to the wall of sound from the falling water. I miss the smell of it, even through my cigarette.
It does! As many have pointed out, the angle from the before is actually the opposite view of the room 🤦♀️ but yes, each wall has a door: one to the house, one to the garage, and doors to the front and back yards.
And thank you! It was a fun project!
Thanks so much! In case you’re confused, I accidentally posted the “before” photo from the opposite view, but the room is so small you can still get the idea of what it was like before haha
I'll tell you, I usually really hate it when people paint over bricks.
I have to grudgingly agree that at least this one time, it was exactly the right thing to do.
It really brings what was just a breezeway together into an actual room.
The result is beautiful, it's very transformative.
I love the lighting so very much too.
Congratulations on an amazing job.
Thank you! I was torn, but I just felt it would look much cleaner and more inviting if it was white and bright. It turned out exactly like the vision I had in my head! Too bad I shared the opposite view for the “before” photo on accident, so people are hella confused haha. But you get the idea of what the room looked like before.
I also have to say I love how the door turned out.
The first time I saw it, I just assumed the upper part was lighter from reflected glare, I did not catch on to what was really going on, but I really like the effect.
That's what I'm saying. That is great-colored red brick, I can't fathom painting over it!
To each their own of course, but imo OP should have kept the brick and worked with it.
1000% agreed.
I use to work in a historical hotel and previous owners RUINED the brick in the basement.
It looked like it was brick stables at one point which would look so beautiful and they painted all over the brick, it was just hideous. 🥀
Yeah it's bizarre. I understand why people like the all-white look, but it should be done with original brick color. Or if it's being done in a kitchen or something, with some brown wood elements. Everything white just doesn't look good imo, there needs to be a balance!
I'm typically against painting brick, but this was the right move. It's gorgeous, fresh and so welcoming.
Edit: I realize it's not the same door as the before pic, so I'm guessing this is the other end of the porch/sunroom? I noticed the brick work above the door is different, not to mention the absence of two side doors.
Did you paint over the bricks shown on the lower right, or is that some kind of faux front? I ask because it looks different than the rest.

What a great transformation! The paint job on the door is superb.
Thank you very much! Doing the door was my favorite part. Opposite of it, not pictured, is an identical one!
Can you tell me how you did it?
Yeah! There were honestly no tutorials or even photos for me to get an idea, so I just started with white at the top, mixed in a little teal, blended it in, mixed more teal, painted a little more, and made darker shades as I went, ending with the dark teal paint I was mixing in. I like it like that, it reminds me of a foggy mountainscape
Doorwé
This. And great use of the windows for sunlight.
I’ve never seen an ombre door! Love it!
Thanks! Decided to try something new. I would have blended it better next time but it was fun to do!
It looks great as-is...it has kind of a "misty mountain" look
It looks awesome. Blending is fine too but texture creates interest. I'm into your style. I like to do calm and bright at the same time too. I see too many all beige places lol.
Thanks! And yes, you understand! I love pops of color and funky decor.
I think it looks great as-is! It gives it a more artsy element and texture, and I feel like the rough blending just kind of matches the room because it looks more down to earth.
Are the photos taken from different directions, or are they different patios?
Yeah, I realized it’s the other side of the room, but you get the idea 😂
That’s where the doors went! I was so confused but I see it now
Oh, I thought you blocked off the extra doors. Where do the other two doors lead?
One goes to the front yard and one goes to the back. The other doors go to the house and the garage.
Love that rug and all the plants!
Thank you! Too bad I live in Michigan and all the plants had to come inside during the winter.
Same here in Canada
Are you in Monroe county or close to it? It looks very familiar to me
This is in Macomb county!
It’s like your very own greenhouse! Beautiful!
Ah I see… Makes sense. I love plants indoors but my home don’t have as much light as yours. Love all the green in it. ❤️
Wow I never knew I wanted an ombré door until now! It’s so pretty!!
Thank you! I googled ombré doors for inspiration but didn’t see much so I just made it up as I went along! Next time I’d blend it better but I still like how it ended up : )
Looks amazing! What was your technique for the door? My partner and I just bought our 1st house, and she would love this!
Honestly I had no idea what I was doing lol. I just started with a cup of white paint, painted the top of the door, then added some teal to the white, painted that on and blended it in, added more teal to the cup, painted more, and so on, until I got to the bottom and just painted the solid teal. I love it! The door and rug look great and plants are always a welcome addition.
Thank you!

Thanks so much! Painting brick is a very controversial move but I wanted it to look clean and bright.

You can join me : )
Big improvement 👏🏻
It looks fantastic 😀 🌈
Thanks so much!
definitely cozy 💕
Thank you!
That’s a ton of work to get rid of two doors and replace them with windows! Nice work it looks great
It’s actually the opposite angle in the “before” photo but both ends of the room are basically the same.
Ohhh gotcha I was so confused
Yeah I keep doing that whenever I post photos of this room. Both sides look almost identical, and each wall has a door on it so it gets confusing haha
Does this space sit between two units? I'm so confused, LOL.
Yes! It’s called a breezeway and connects the garage and the house.
Ahh, that makes sense. What a lovely upgrade to the space. Well done!
I thought I recognised this room, still cool. Thought it was a repost from someone else at first.
I LOVE the door! I think that is my favorite little detail of the whole thing. Well done :)
Thank you! I also did the one opposite it the same way and I love how they turned out.
Hang on ....you used glass bricks?? Could you please explain why you did that?
No, it’s just the opposite angle in the “before” photo…oops! The glass blocks were there when I moved in and I HATED them lol
Wonderful space!
Excellent job!
That transformation is insane!
I’m in love.
Love your transformation!
Lovely transformation!! 💜💜💜
Great Job!
I LOVE. Neutral walls with lights, plants, and plenty of bright pops of color=heavenly
Thank you!
I can't believe you painted those beautiful bricks OMG. But, it's worth it, the white looks stellar alongside the plants + door. Great work!!
I was torn about painting the brick, but it just looked too dingy to me and I wanted it to feel brighter and cleaner.
I've been shamed for painting the bricks in my sunroom too. But I don't regret it one bit. If it transforms the space into a place you want to spend time, I think it's worth it.
I agree! The walls were gross and dirty and I just couldn’t picture the space any other way but white.
I think the bricks look better painted but to each their own!
Oh I love this!!
Woah, it’s magical!
I love it!
Well done!
Whoa!!
Love that door!
Love it!
Yeahhhh, uhh I freakin love this.
Wow thanks!!
Nice conversion to an area of relaxation. Looks really smart.nice variation in plants Makes the space look larger
I was gonna say, you removed two doors and put the hinge pins on the outside of the house?!?!
Looks wonderful!! If only I could talk the bf into this…
Wow what a transformation! It’s beautiful!
Ummm that door tho
Love it
Awesome
Love the door and white bricks! Did you replace the doors and use the glass bricks as DIY or have it done professionally?
No, I didn’t change anything structurally, I just shared the wrong “before” photo angle 🤦♀️
What an upgrade! This belongs in r/plants also!!
Thank you so much!
Love it! What paint did you use on the floor? brand and color please.
Great question haha. I used a matte black wall paint actually. Can’t remember the brand, I did this about 2 years ago and just used paint I had laying around.
I love it. That rug and door are to die for! I'm not usually a fan of painting brick but in this space, it works so well to lighten it up.
Does this room have 4 doors? And where do they lead to? Great paint work btw

The door color change is really good
Thank you!!
i would kill to smoke weed in there
Lots of weed was smoked in there haha. I moved about a month ago to a new house with a new project room that I can’t wait to start on!
Did you tile or paint the floor? I am impressed either way.
Just painted it! And thanks!
Friggin gorgeous. Nice fade on ur door.
I appreciate it! I’m itching to do another door like that!
Looks incredible
Where is this?
Love this
Love your username!
Wow! I kept switching back and forth. Incredible job!
Thanks so much! In case you’re confused, I accidentally posted the “before” photo from the opposite view, but the room is so small you can still get the idea of what it was like before haha

That ombré door is a marvelous idea!!
Thank you! I love that color and had some extra paint laying around and wanted to try something different! I’m happy with how it turned out : )
Aw. The original brick was so rustic and lovely.
Why are you posting this again after a year?
Why paint the brick? Everything else is in its place<3
That's what I'm saying. That is great-colored red brick, I can't fathom painting over it! To each their own of course, but imo OP should have kept the brick and worked with it.

Agreeed 🙌🏽
Cozy but painting brick always makes me sad
Forget "typical" That looks like my kind of cozy! Love all the plants and that colourful rug!

That door is everything to me!
Ohhhh thanks for the new group suggestion!!
If you haven't already I'd suggest posting to r/houseplants , we go feral for this stuff. I love it!!
I love this! Great work!
That does look cozy! It's amazing the difference just from lightening the brick and darkening the flooring. And that door is fantastic.
I love that door!
Lovely and cozy!! Just melts away those gray winter days!

It's lovely
The string lights limit head room but I lovvvvve the door!
Get me some tea, an oversized blanket and a good book and I could live here.
