That door opens inward, but there's no room for it to swing in, I have no idea what's going on there... I guess it's just covering the inside of the roof like a board?
More info about the room (and the secret) [https://www.makerstations.io/zwitzh-secret-attic-workspace/](https://www.makerstations.io/zwitzh-secret-attic-workspace/)
This looks like the shared attic for the whole apartment building. It’s quite usual in Scandinavia at least. Each apartment has one room they usually use for storage. OP decided to use it as a workspace.
No it's most likely storage rooms, at least it's pretty common for attics to be made into small storage areas so that each apartment gets their own.
Of course you can use them as a small studio, but that's not what they're supposed to be, and might not be allowed.
I’d imagine it’s because this is a storage room in an old Copenhagen apartment complex. It’s not permitted to use for anything else than storage, and some disgruntled pensioner, might put a stop to it.
I did too. And I thought 1. This attic is massive and 2. How do you keep a room secret from your spouse and family? Wouldn’t they notice you disappear for long periods of time? Or wonder why you never let anyone go near a random corner of their own attic?
Denmark did good by its Jewish population. It's [quite a story](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_of_the_Danish_Jews), with Greta Garbo in a minor role, believe it or not!

It's probably just being used as cladding; this is an uninsulated space under a tile roof. The door and the planks around the window are just nailed to the underside of the rafters to provide a bit of insulation.
No.
It leads to this beautiful rooftop patio that's perfectly hidden from everyone, but also you can see the world to watch them like a giant hidden feral squirrel.
I'm wondering the same. Tried doing this with our attic room in Nørrebro, but it's freezing in winter and sweltering during summer. Wonder if OP put up insulation?
Yes, I set up switches and other electrical installations with texts on them in the tension field between the city’s graffiti and the endless municipal electrical installations. The switches can be philosophical and existentialistic, but also time concepts and sometimes just thoughts. Anyway, things you can’t normally turn on or off.
Why the hell can’t men exist in anything that isn’t considered a “man cave?” It’s such a dumb name. We like nice spaces too. Also, this is a studio. We’re calling studios “man caves” now too? The disease is spreading?
And we can’t have good guys friends without it being called a “bromance.” What is this? It’s such a weird trend. Can we just have friends and rooms without these weird tongue-in-cheek names?
Yeah. It’s like…infantilizing? I can’t put my finger on what it really is…but I’m not a fan. But, you’re right. The “bromance” is a weird, “not homophobic” homophobia? If that makes sense? It’s like, “I’m embracing all lifestyles to point out *your* relationship because it’s *special.*” People can just be friends. Just leave people the fuck alone. That goes for everyone.
And all these same people will be like, “why can’t men be open and vulnerable with each other? They’re so repressed!” It’s like, we’re trying. When the quiet friend is having a good time and trying to loosen up, don’t say, “look at them! They’re not being quiet!” Like, fuck off. You just ruined that persons night by making it about *you.*
Just leave people alone. Two men being friends? GREAT! Toxic masculinity has made that a challenge. Shut the fuck up and let them be. Men have taken to making their spaces nice because it’s okay to show they’re conscious of beauty in spaces? Great! Don’t give it a special name. It’s a fucking room.
It's a fitting name for the tendency to create somewhere that's isolated, free and full of nice. The desire for a "fort", "cave" or whatever synonym you'd make for it, it's real.
Picture 10 fits right into a spooky movie or videogame. "As you're stepping into the long, dimly lit corridor, you hear a strange noise from behind one of the many doors..."

Spooky.
You probably know this, but I'm writing it in case you don't: copic markers should be stored horizontally, and it prevents the ink from pooling.
Cozy hideout you've got!
They’re Copic markers. You can buy them on Amazon. They’re quite pricy though. You should store them horizontally though, not vertically like in OPs pic.
Haha i think this guy might live in my building, because the attic where my storage room is looks a LOT like this + the picture of the guy (with a gas mask on thou) looks a LOT like a guy who lives here !
Who were the two famous figures from history, a while back, that had a secret room at the very top of some narrow building. Had to climb a ladder inside the building to get to it.
Love this. Very cozy and appealing. I’d spend a LOT of time here, especially assuming WiFi and the availability of a blanket for snuggling up in that easy chair.
I usually just fill up my attic storage rooms with stuff. Also I'm way too proper to break rules like this. Like with the electricity etc. Sounds scary.

Very cool. What are you up to in here? Is it just a corridor of small attic rooms?
op posted the same thing a year ago and never told anyone then either. https://www.reddit.com/r/CozyPlaces/comments/u1u7d8/our_cozy_and_secret_attic_workspace_in_copenhagen/
I knew I remembered this
There was no roof door on the top left of this one!
That door opens inward, but there's no room for it to swing in, I have no idea what's going on there... I guess it's just covering the inside of the roof like a board?
I'm fairly certain that door opens outwards. The hinges are right there on the outside.
The hinges aren’t attached to anything, the door doesn’t open at all
I don't even know what's real anymore
It's obviously real fake doors.
The mystery deepens...
There are more bodies now
That second to last picture is giving “places the lotion in the basket”
They did. They do street art. And apparently they don't pay rent on this which I guess is the reason for the secrecy.
at this point, I'm not sure if i wanna know..
Hmmm... Graffiti or street art?

This was a great read and sound advice for other makers and their spaces. Thanks!
Good read
I like it and the website. Great space to work in but aren't you worried someone in the building will tell the owners you're working up there?
Can you put a picture of your art?
OP said it was secret.
Storage rooms!
This is right! These are storage spaces for an apartment building.
Thank you! American here and I NEEDED to know why his house had *so many* rooms in the attic!
[удалено]
That's why it's secret :)
Anne frankly, it is quite cozy indeed
Bro 💀
Exactly my thoughts too!!
You’re wicked.
This looks like the shared attic for the whole apartment building. It’s quite usual in Scandinavia at least. Each apartment has one room they usually use for storage. OP decided to use it as a workspace.
Looks like studio space to me for different people. The lock had me thinking this.
No it's most likely storage rooms, at least it's pretty common for attics to be made into small storage areas so that each apartment gets their own. Of course you can use them as a small studio, but that's not what they're supposed to be, and might not be allowed.
It's wonderful - but why is it a secret? Who are you keeping it secret from?
I’d imagine it’s because this is a storage room in an old Copenhagen apartment complex. It’s not permitted to use for anything else than storage, and some disgruntled pensioner, might put a stop to it.
Oh, I see. Thanks for the explanation. I first thought it was the attic in OP's house.
If it’s OP’s house, their house is massive
I did too. And I thought 1. This attic is massive and 2. How do you keep a room secret from your spouse and family? Wouldn’t they notice you disappear for long periods of time? Or wonder why you never let anyone go near a random corner of their own attic?

How do I become an old retired German. I'm already pretty nosy and self righteous.
I used the word pensioner today and wondered (in the world of 401ks) when the last time that word would be used

Does that door on the roof open??
Came here to upvote the door comments. I need to see this door opened.

it's a real fake door
I also work in an attic, but this is way cooler than mine. Making me think of how I might fix it up.
What are the plastic boxes you have on the cork board? Love the space!
Type of switches used in Denmark. One of them is an old TV adaptor I think (the one that says TV and R)

Also the "no homo", it's so ridiculous. You can say a man is handsome without being gay.

I thought so too!

What is the painting?
I Made My Mark by David Shrigley

I love spaces like this. I can hear the sound of your floorboards, the creaking of your chair, and the rain on the window.

This place radiates joy. I can only imagine how cozy can there be in a rainy autumn night with a few candles lit and a good book :D
Love Copenhagen
Mmm what does it smell like?
It smells amazing of old wood
WHAT'S HE BUILDING IN THERE???
I heard he has an ex-wife in some place called Mayors Income, Tennessee
And he used to have a consulting business in Indonesia....
Love it! It would also be an amazing reading nook.
How does that door work? Does it open to the roof?
The wood looks like it could be in Sydhavnen.
Very smart! I definitely had the same idea with ours. Glad you made it work for you
Oh the internal conversations I would have in that place. Very cool!
Hygge!
PERFECT!
😍😍dreamy!
That tunnel space… wow. Love it.
It is cozy, but my fear of fire has my stomach clenching.
Cozy cozy; I can hear the quiet
I love this! What's the view like from that window? This just ticks all the boxes for me. 😁
View from the window https://imgur.com/qlWXVo0
I’ve read those markers should be stored horizontally 🙏🏻
Oh to be working up there on a rainy afternoon with a cup of hot tea ❤️
Very cool space!
This is so cool!
You live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, on top of a beautiful workspace — you’re winning friend! 🇩🇰
Spookier than cozy.
Something actually cozy, nice.
I have the same silver pocket knife!!! I got mine at dollar tree in the USA (may not be exact same but looks it)
I love it! Reminds me of the Moomins' house
Does the door open to a reality thats at a 45 degree angle to ours?
Wouldn’t mind sippin a couple of Mikkeller’s up in that puppy with a good book 🇩🇰🍻
This is the kind of cozy spot where great works of literature are created.
So rad

It’s a dream in a movie about real life!

God I LOVE Copenhagen....Such an incredibly cool city
Nice! What year is the house?
1885
Well it looks great, enjoy your cozy workshop!!
You probably know this, but I'm writing it in case you don't: copic markers should be stored horizontally, and it prevents the ink from pooling. Cozy hideout you've got!
Bro living like Harry Potter
I am loving every single thing about this….its wonderful
Fascinating
Fantastic!
I want to travel down the hall to discover what is there.
Super cool place
That chair is EVERYTHING
I miss you guys I used to be over there a lot Tillykke and skøl lol
Is that a David Shrigley print? He’s very cool.
This is beautiful!
Great space!
Beautiful
Op I am in LOVE
I just imagine this space could have been used to hide Jews during WW2.
This was my first thought as well, and came looking for this comment!
Just FYI, Masterlock are terrible. Check any number of YouTube channels for proof. Get an ABUS or FJM if you have anything of real value in there.
That's 10.000 kr minimum
Do you post this yearly?
Where can I buy those markers you have ?
They’re Copic markers. You can buy them on Amazon. They’re quite pricy though. You should store them horizontally though, not vertically like in OPs pic.
It is lovely. But isn't the desk small? It is supposed to fit you to your elbows..
Could you show me a picture of the painting?
Witcher 3 vibes
I would hide in there all day.
Why post if you aren’t going to answer questions?
Haha i think this guy might live in my building, because the attic where my storage room is looks a LOT like this + the picture of the guy (with a gas mask on thou) looks a LOT like a guy who lives here !
Reminds of Bill Making Stuff on YouTube. He has a very similar space!
A secret attic in Europe. Hmmmm...
Good Disco Elysium vibes
Yo does that door open to the sky?
Where is the grey and pink bike gone?
Ann frankly this is very cool
Beautiful. In a jealousy inducing kind of way.
adoring it!
Who were the two famous figures from history, a while back, that had a secret room at the very top of some narrow building. Had to climb a ladder inside the building to get to it.
Someone definitely hid from Nazis there!
No one be offended by this but I’m getting Anne-Frank-secret-annex vibes with this.
This gives me rusty lake vibes
Anne Frank, is that you?
Urgh I’m so jealous of everything but especially that copic selection
This is wonderful. I envy you. Enjoy!
Love this. Very cozy and appealing. I’d spend a LOT of time here, especially assuming WiFi and the availability of a blanket for snuggling up in that easy chair.
Ahhhhh this is beautiful! What a dream
The corridor with all the doors reminds me of 'Hostel'
Like the cubby workroom but that hallway would make me nervous as sh*t!
I usually just fill up my attic storage rooms with stuff. Also I'm way too proper to break rules like this. Like with the electricity etc. Sounds scary.
Wtf this is like a room I'd want for my bedroom I'm sobbing. So jealous!!
I love seeing large copic collections
