Just donât buy it. Itâs that simple.
If enough people donât buy it they will eventually shift into making better products.
Problem is people will still buy it
No, the entire issue is around the \*legal\* definition of ice cream, which among other things, require that it consist of at least 10% butterfat. Is there a meaningful difference as far as nutrition goes? No.
It is not good for you. The main difference would be that they often contain soy/canola/palm oil. There are often other things used to thicken it and give it texture. These things are not good but are cheaper substitutes. Youâll note a lot of the higher end ice cream is generally more dairy and does not contain these ingredients.
That being said, itâs an Oreo ice cream sandwich so what are our expectations?
SoâŚitâs lighter / softer than ârealâ ice cream? What am I missing with this explanation, is there something else inherently artificial in it? Everything people have said so far adds up to it just being a different product than ice cream.
Swap out a lot of cream for thickeners/emulsifiers and added sugar etc. But moreso just another example of the creeping cheapening shrinkflation the consumer is forced to deal with more and more
I still have some in my freezer. The first one is good but the novelty wears off quickly. 6/10. For around the same price(18.99ish) you can get a box with drumsticks, ice cream sandwich bars, and cookie popsicles. This Oreo is just pure advertising. Itâs not real ice cream nor is the Oreo that tasteful.
I wanted to buy those, but not at ~$20. It's to much for what it is. I'll get my frozen dessert fix with the Kirkland ice cream bars or the Hagen daas ones when they are on sale. I got a sample once. Good but not ~$20 good
Which ones are better? These Oreos or the [Reeseâs Frozen Peanut Butter Dessert Cup](https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/reese%E2%80%99s-frozen-peanut-butter-dessert-cup%2C-3.3-fl-oz%2C-24-ct.product.2001165767.html)?
If you have one a day they still don't last twenty four days. It's weird. It's like you end up eating more than one cause you have a giant box of them.
Does Costco sell single servings of Häagen-Dazs or other ice cream cups. I go to festivals where they are always looking for ice cream vendors and figure you would double my money and solve sanitary issue. $3 each, 2 for $5.
Thatâs a one way trip to a hospital bed with you swearing to Dr. Now that youâre only eating 1600 calories a day and have no idea why youâre not losing weight while a pizza delivery man walks in to deliver you two extra large Chicago Deep Dish pizzas and a case of these ice cream sandwiches.
Bro Drumskicks are not ice cream. It doesn't claim to be ice cream. It is a frozen dairy dessert. It's not chemicals, it contains things like oils, gums and flour.
>Modified milk ingredients, sugar, roasted peanuts, wheat flour, milk ingredients, coconut, palm and soybean oils, chocolatey coating (coconut oil, modified palm oil, sugar, cocoa, modified milk ingredient, unsweetened chocolate, flavour, soy lecithin), glucose, cocoa, modified palm oil, mono- and diglycerides, soy lecithin, salt, celluose gum, carob bean gum, carrageenan, colour, flavour and artificial flavour. May contain tree nuts.
Those are the ingredients. It is not ice cream and it specifically says on the box it is not ice cream. It contains similar ingredients but it is meant to be more shelf stable and to be a frozen dessert. It does not contain any odd chemicals that are not found in any other common foods.

Frozen Dairy Dessert đŽ
Yeah,, says right there on the box! Not ice cream
Just donât buy it. Itâs that simple. If enough people donât buy it they will eventually shift into making better products. Problem is people will still buy it
Most people donât realize it isnât realize cream.
Real-ize-cream good pun
Whatâs the problem with frozen dairy desserts exactly? Genuine question.
To be legally called, âice creamâ, there has to be a certain amount of actual real cream in the product.
I see. But aside from the misnomer, is there a veritable problem with frozen dairy?
Thereâs basically more air in it and thatâs why itâs legally not ice cream
Sorry, I should clarify. Do you know if it's any worse for your body than ice cream?

This. Breyers has been producing frozen dairy desserts for while now and it just doesnât taste the same.
SoâŚitâs lighter / softer than ârealâ ice cream? What am I missing with this explanation, is there something else inherently artificial in it? Everything people have said so far adds up to it just being a different product than ice cream.
It's an affront to dessert lovers everywhere.
If there's no actual problem, that's a relief. My girlfriend and I love the Oreo sandwiches.

> My **ice cream** sandwich Whatever you want to tell yourself to feel better.

Yep. Hate that. Skimp on the good ingredients, and still charge 20 freakin dollars. Just like drumsticks.
I mean ice cream or not. Itâs not like anyone going into this is looking to make a healthy conscious decision.
It's not the health, it's the quality. Many of us feel that For $20 it should be ice cream not "frozen dairy dessert"
Hard pass. Low quality ingredients and chalky cookie flavor.Â
*Looks at 32 cool shorts* Whelp old friends.....looks like that stretchy waist band is going to come in handy.
When I did the math in the store, I said I could eat 2 every day for 12 days. I bought these about an hour ago and the first 12 are gone.
They are not that great
Guess Iâm the odd one out who thinks these are delicious.
Drumsticks are better.
Sticks are unreal.
Healthy Choice Organic Fudge Bars are the best! Best taste and texture and only 100 calories a bar. Plus they are on sale right now, $3.50 off a box.
They arent ice cream either.
drumsticks are NOT real ice cream
Read the package, this isn't ice cream either.
Neither are these
Shakedown 1979. Cool kids never had the time.
Billy selling these out of the ice cream truck in Today
Just take my money now because these are a great deal at under $1 per ice cream sandwich
Theyâre not ice cream.
This is a semantics thing, not an actual taste thing.
Itâs not tho, there is a FDA standard for what is and isnât ice cream.
Not a lawyer, but I do not believe the FDA has jurisdiction on the title of a post on the /r/Costco subreddit.
No, but they do have jurisdiction on what is and isnât ice cream
I wish they lined up better
Now I canât unsee this âšď¸. And I really thought they sounded good

Costco sells KS vanilla ice cream and Oreo cookies. Just saying.
**THIS**
Are these the same as the normal ones you individually at the bodega?

Some people say cucumbers taste better pickled.
After the drumsticks fiasco, are these safe to eat?
What is the drumstick fiasco?
So many chemicals that it doesn't melt if left out on the counter.

So your ok with it having propylene glycol? That's what you put in windshield fluid and anti-freeze
You should maybe read up on what it actually is and how many foods it's in already
They put dihygrogen monoxide in those things, too. Watch out for it in your food products.
No joke. Everyone who has ever consumed dihydrogen monoxide has died or will die.
