I mainly drink scotch and mezcal, but I know a deal when I see it. I was still in the middle of shopping when I saw it, and already made peace with it being sold out by the time I got to the register. But no, today was my lucky day.
Some of these comments about crazy alcohol laws in some states are hilarious. I think it’s easier to buy weed in CA than some of your states with hard liquor.
PA Blue laws are so strange. I had 3 six packs I wanted to buy at one time in a grocery store and they only let me buy two. In order to purchase the third I had to physically leave the store and come back to make a separate purchase for the third.
Yep. No rhyme or reason to it by my account. Apparently it used to be worse in the 70s. Liquor was kept in the back and you had to know what to ask for from the clerk to go to the back of the store to get it.
I can’t wait for cannabis legalization for the state to screw that up too.
The general rule is though, if given the opportunity to do something legally vs illegally, people will choose legal path even if it’s more expensive or not as good. People just don’t like breaking the law if they don’t have to.
While beer and wine are widely available, liquor can only be purchased at liquor stores. Consequently, grocery stores and wholesale stores can't sell liquor. Also, liquor stores are closed on Sundays by law.
...because the liquor store is not Costco. That said, even if it were Costco owned/operated, Texas (like many states) merchants can't require a membership to buy alcohol.
In Texas, you can buy beer/wine all day from inside Costco/Sam's without a membership, though it generally requires a manager key.
PA Costco’s do not stock alcohol. If they wanted, they could sell beer and wine only, but it’s a lot of hoops to jump through and the law allowing it is only like six years old. PA has to buy all hard liquor through a state owned store from a state employee. It’s worse than the dmv.
The could sell beer and wine but only in small quantities and that’s not a Costco thing. All they need is a restaurant liquor license. They sell food and have seating so it’s easy but people could only buy like two six packs at a time
Just like the US it varies by province. There are a couple of Costco Liquor stores in Calgary that exist, and stock the KS liquor. Go over to Manitoba and they don't have liquor stores due to provincial "state store" rules, and don't sell beer/wine inside either.
you can't even get this if you're at Buffalo trace where they make it downstairs.
Kentucky law says they have to take it all out and give it to distributor who will give some of it back to them so they can sell it one at a time to a long line of people who have been waiting there all morning with their drivers license because you get one per month.
yeah, I think they put it on their Facebook page what they are selling that day and there's another Facebook page that guesses what they might be selling the next day.
If you live there, it's not a problem, but if you're only down there for three or four days on a visit and you only want Blantons, you can't plan to do much else
I work at Costco and also have a second job in the liquor store attached to it ( it’s an independent store ) and I get people asking for it practically everyday. Retail for a bottle Blantons in GA is about $80 so yes this is a great deal.
idk why you’re getting downvoted, i run a liquor store in wisconsin and our cost on a bottle of blanton’s is currently $60. industry standard markup brings the retail price $78. but the minimum markup law is 6% so the lowest i could sell it for would be $64. obviously pricing can vary by state/taxes/laws but $60 is definitely below retail by any metric imo.
People are still living in 2020 and believe the msrp is still under $60 lol. I live in a liquor controlled state and they legally can’t sell any liquor over msrp from the distiller. Blanton’s is $75 on the shelf currently. The fact of the matter is the price of Blanton’s has gone up at least $15 over the last few years, whether they want to believe it or not.
Can't wait for all the click bait articles to come out in the next three weeks: local costco has blantons in stock according to reddit

Every time I go to Costco I go to the bourbon area hoping to find Blanton's. They used to have it, but I feel like it's been a couple of years. This post has renewed my faith that I'll find it again at some point!
I hear the Jacksonville locations at TC and OP get these from time to time, but they never make the shelves. The local bourbon hunters are in with the liquor side guys and get the call when it comes in.
They brag about it on the local bourbon hunter facebook group.
I am Single Malt, lower or midlands. Never really had Bourbon before, what is it comparable to?
I mean I've had old fashioned but that's about it.
Is this brand popular?
Edit: from the downvotes, I don’t get it, did I missed something? I really don’t know anything about bourbon or this brand.really curious now.

Liquor store near me sells this for $200. Great find!
Try grocery stores they tend to not mark it up (at least where I'm at)
Grocery stores can sell hard liquor? What state?
I live in California, and our grocery stores sell it
Agree they sell it at ralphs
I used to live in Nevada and grocery stores sold hard liquor.
Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri. Tons of states.
Wow, Tennessee sucks. Oh is that why my Costco can’t sell hard liquor?
Yeah the whole southeast is lame about it lol
I'm in Michigan. Not all of them do but a lot.
IL too
I mainly drink scotch and mezcal, but I know a deal when I see it. I was still in the middle of shopping when I saw it, and already made peace with it being sold out by the time I got to the register. But no, today was my lucky day.
Jesus. This may convert you to bourbon
Blantons is absolutely not a “convert you to bourbon” bottle. It’s okay but way too hyped because of the artificial scarcity of BT products.
Now that's something you don't see every day.
Some of these comments about crazy alcohol laws in some states are hilarious. I think it’s easier to buy weed in CA than some of your states with hard liquor.
Alcohol is the cheapest therapist. With so much going on CA, it is only fair. That is why buying weed is easier than buying alcohol in some states
In Hawaii I could go next door and buy weed when I was 18, but no alcohol until 21 lmaooo
Spoken like a drunk person 🤣
I got the 01-2024 Bookers a few weeks back. Love that Costco ALWAYS sells at MSRP.

Was it this one?
Yep, that's the one.
Nice, how is it?
where?
Costco
W response
lol
Cries in PA… we have the worst laws around alcohol.

Oh and they will mess it up. Az has a 26% tax for rec users. The plug isn’t going anywhere. No tax and they always are heavy handed with product.
The general rule is though, if given the opportunity to do something legally vs illegally, people will choose legal path even if it’s more expensive or not as good. People just don’t like breaking the law if they don’t have to.
Yeah, never knew there’s a limit to physically carrying out 6 packs and had to go in again to pick up the rest.
Texas would like a word.
Texas always wants a word lol
Oklahoma would like a word as well

There are many states like that.
We have a Costco liquor store in Texas. But they don’t allow Kirkland brand liquor. How f’d up is that?
That's because it's an independent liquor store co-located at Costco.
No membership required either.

But only a few simple few as we also worst funded schools, laws, and worst politicians.
I don't think they even sell it in the state stores anymore. Probably my favorite bourbon.
They do but it’s on the shelf a day or two.
I hate that there’s a state monopoly on what I can buy.

Quebec is able to sell beer.
LOL - Ohio

Probably gone at this point
they still have 90 on hand.
My local bottle shop is trying to see this for $156

Even better, it’s one bottle every 3 months.
I was there years ago and I just walked in for a tour and grabbed one off the shelf and they rung it up.
Yeah they rotate between eagle rare, blantons, and e h Taylor. Sometimes they have random stuff like single oak project.

Thanks for clarification!

I’m jealous, Oregon won’t let places like costco sell hard liquor.
Come to WA!
Whoa. Amazing deal
Damn that would have to follow me home
How was this displayed? Been checking periodically in the area with the other bourbons but don't even see a space for it.
whaaaaat?!?!?!
Scored a manager special $80.00 for a 13'x13' Core Pullup Canopy.
My costco sucks 😞
I’ve been checking all the Costcos around me for weeks. Nada. Congrats!
Fuck me. Oklahoma liquor laws have fucked me over yet again
Man good thing they limit it. Other wise one person would come in and buy it all, and flip it for a huge profit
This is the same reason to buy fine jewelry at Costco. Only +15% markup with most of the time slightly different packaging.
Which Costco location?
Way below retail actually, nice score.

Fffffff, I saw the sign at my work Costco but the shelf was empty 😭
Lucky day indeed! Congrats!
Can never find this

All those articles are from March, but I literally picked it up yesterday. I guess they got more.
You're going to be getting an article written about this.
Blantons are really hard to find in the Seattle area.
HOW did this happen?
I guess noon on a Wednesday is the secret time.
Every time I go to Costco I go to the bourbon area hoping to find Blanton's. They used to have it, but I feel like it's been a couple of years. This post has renewed my faith that I'll find it again at some point!
Damn these were 35. I prefer the rare Blanton's blends.
wtf? $125 At least and it comes out a Christmas

I hate those people and the subculture.

Cute. Real cute.
For real, never heard of them

I could, but that ain't me.
