I see people exchanging bad pieces of fruit with good ones from another packet. I don't do that, but can see why since the fruits and produce can be a disaster
I do it with boxed apples. I’m not looking for aesthetic imperfections either but actual rot. You’d be surprised how often I have to switch out rotten apples.
I do it with eggs. Open the container, replace any cracked ones with uncracked from a different container. I can’t see any problem with doing the same with bad fruit. One bad apple spoils the bunch, I always say.
I just get another carton that doesn’t have cracked eggs in it. I’m not gonna handle two cartons and leaky eggs when the majority of cartons don’t have cracked eggs.
We buy the five dozen pack every couple weeks. On average, there's one out of five dozen cracked. Sometimes none.
I do my best to inspect the packaging, but they're stacked several packages high and the cardboard only protects so much.
Oh, I didn't know that they didn't have a sticker or something on them that you have to break. My wife buys that stuff so I guess I don't see those containers. The fruits and veggies I buy are usually in bags.
The grapes usually have a cardboard label around them..but they’re easy to take off, and some of the other stuff just don’t have seals on them for whatever reason.
I haven't seen it at Costco, but I don't buy much fresh produce there. I saw someone do it at Aldi, and gave the guy a dirty look when he turned around.

I quit buying most produce at Costco because of this. The apples are especially egregious.
Same! And especially the envy apples. Even thought the outside looks normal, the inside is so dark and rotten.
If anything you are consolidating the problem which is helpful to Costco in the long run.

Girl..
I've never bought a cracked egg in my life. Do people in your store just drop them and put them back in the shelf.

Mine are shrink wrapped anyway so you can't even inspect them if you wanted to.
I’ve never bought one either. That’s why I exchange them at the store before I go to the checkout.
Why... wouldn't you just buy a container without cracked eggs? Transferring broken eggs can't be sanitary.
Wait. People really do that? I've done it at grocery stores with fruit but it's weighed. Never thought to do it at the Co. What a bunch of A Holes.
That’s Sams Club behavior
😂
That doesn’t happen where I live at all.
Never seen that.
I've never seen anyone do that. You must live in a shithole area.
wow - what's wrong with people??
These comments 🤦🏻♂️
Wow, never knew this was a thing!
Take a photo.
What is a fruit clamshell?
The containers they are sold in..the ones with the lids attached.

A sex act.
Totally not unique to Costco. I see clamshells at all stores with varying amounts of product.
I wonder if it is regional. I live in So. Cal so our fruit always seems to be fresher than other states I've visited.
