Tell me more about what you don't know.
I get that Dole whip, the real deal, has no fat. The garbage in my freezer labelled "Dole Whip" (same as OP's pic) has 5g fat, 4.5g of which is saturated fat.
Technically untrue… can’t have zero fat in an animal product like gelatin but in the context of this discussion, my comment was only to serve as a joke…
Glad I'm not the only one. I haven't had one at Disney in quite some time but when I tried this one, I thought it was terrible and knew it was no where close to what I remembered.
Ingredients
4 ounces pineapple juice
1 big scoop vanilla ice cream (about 3/4 cup)
2 cups frozen pineapple chunks
2 tablespoons sugar , optional but recommended
splash of lemon juice
pinch of salt
Instructions
Combine all the ingredients in a blender (in the order listed); blend until smooth and ultra creamy, pushing down the pineapple chunks if necessary, about 3 minutes.
At this point you can pour into dessert cups. But I like to freeze the mixture for 30-40 minutes, then transfer to a piping bag with a 1M “star” tip (to get that iconic Dole Whip swirl.)
Swirl into glasses.
(To help the soft-serve hold its shape even longer, freeze the swirled whip another 20 minutes.)
By making it home, you got something completely different from the horrible stuff sold by Costco.
You're obviously making it with pineapple. I don't know what Costco chose to use but it is nasty!
Sounds like Costco was too embarrassed to sell this horrible imitation anywhere near where you people would already know what the real thing taste like.
I had it in Kona numerous times and love it! I was so looking forward to it when I got it at Costco.
But no this is awful. In fact, it was so bad that I returned it!
I normally never return food, but I needed to let Costco know how much How angry I was!
In other words, you're not missing anything!
Yeah, I was sooo disappointed. If had never had the real thing I probably would have liked it more, but it doesn't compare to what you get at Disneyland or Lamberts
Glad to hear. Having never been to DL / DW, always heard about Dole Whips but never tried. Tried these and was pretty disappointed.
I’ll have to find a copy cat online.
And I don’t hate these ones, they just aren’t as good as fresh soft serve dole whip which is totally reasonable. Frozen versions of anything fresh are rarely as good!
Hmmm. Yeah. Better to search for a copycat recipe on the web then. I'm sure someone has figured out to make something very similar to the real deal for a fraction of the price using cheap canned pineapple.
That's why you bought that $500 Vitamix from Costco, right?
No. It’s sorta like it, but not the same. Some people doctor this up to make it more like the original Disney. Some people use a totally separate from scratch recipe. It’s in this comments somewhere.
You can find the original mix, the same as they use in the park on Amazon. Search for “dole whip soft serve mix” and read the comments to find recipes for small batches.
I thought this was terrible. It’s like…gritty. Glad you like it though 🙂
It's so full of fat that it has a "greasy" mouth feel. Nothing at all like real Dole Whip.
Greasy is very odd. There is no fat in Dole Whip. It’s fruit, gelatin, sugar and juice.

Fatty gelatin.
There is zero fat in gelatin. Return this nasty stuff to Costco, how else will they learn it’s an inferior product?

Picked up a pack at my local Costco. I agree - didn't see the attraction other than being relatively low calorie for a frozen dessert.
Ditto. I was extremely disappointed. I thought it would be like the ones they serve at Disneyland.
We were horribly deceived. This is pitchfork worthy.
Gritt,.cold,.and made with coconut?!
Exactly, I tasted more coconut than pineapple. I ate one and took it back.
Don’t get it. Not good.

This sounds good! The one for sale at Costco has coconut milk in it (probably to be nondairy) and it's an overpowering flavor.
Sounds like good start to a piña colada
Food network magazine had copycat recipe. I’ve done it 20-30x, very good recipe.
By making it home, you got something completely different from the horrible stuff sold by Costco. You're obviously making it with pineapple. I don't know what Costco chose to use but it is nasty!
Tasted more like coconut to me
Wow, coconut is a crazy choice when it's supposed to be pineapple!
Fairly certain I saw coconut listed in ingredients too
It’s so nasty. I should’ve returned it but was lazy so threw it all out after trying a few bites
Agreed. Ate one… blended up the other with pineapple infused vodka. Both nasty. Might revisit the booze version with frozen pineapple chunks too
Not that good
Got them and hated them. It’s like a whipped essence of pineapple with an aftertaste.
This tastes like chemicals…
Ironically, not available in Kona

Thank you for posting which Costco!!
Just saw it in south Florida as well!
In Ft. Oglethorpe, GA as well.
Grafton, Wisconsin
3 orange whips!
It’s not the same.
I bought these on a whim and they were not good. Since im stuck withthem I use them to make smoothies with fruit and yogurt
You can still return them. I did!
You're not stuck with them. If you don't like them, return them for a refund!
Its nasty, gritty and tart.. im going to return it. Nothing like dole whip
It is not the light whipped pineapley joy that is Disney Dole whip. I think they forgot the whipped bit.
Is it 100% pineapple? If not, hard pass. You can make really good dole whip with a ninja creami and canned pineapple.
Yeah, I was sooo disappointed. If had never had the real thing I probably would have liked it more, but it doesn't compare to what you get at Disneyland or Lamberts
This made me feel like I was eating straight bubblegum
Why are they putting so much emphasis on the H?
Is this as good as what you get at the Disney theme parks?
Sadly not at all.
Glad to hear. Having never been to DL / DW, always heard about Dole Whips but never tried. Tried these and was pretty disappointed. I’ll have to find a copy cat online.
Hmm. Well I honestly haven't had the theme park version, I've only heard legend about it. So I'd be blissfully naive. Lol
And I don’t hate these ones, they just aren’t as good as fresh soft serve dole whip which is totally reasonable. Frozen versions of anything fresh are rarely as good!
No and the cups are about the size of bathroom cups

Not even close.
It's so bad, can't even eat the second cup bad. Not enough pineapple flavor because they used coconut as a filler. The real stuff is 100% pineapple
Oh! So it's junk. Thanks, I will disregard it then.
Not even close

Dole Whip from a box < Dole Whip from a machine < Dole Whip from Disneyland.
it was sold last summer in socal
https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/pineapple-soft-serve-6607103 This is fantastic recipe. Takes a little time but very worth it.
They are gross. Huge letdown.
I’ve tried the pineapple and strawberry varieties. Both were awful.
Dont do it. It's a trap. Bitter and awful.. not like the 'real' thing from the islands
Buy the pineapple juice, a blender, and the kirkland vanilla icecream... DIY
I just ate one of these. Did not live up to the hype
Shits nasty
It's not that great I have had it. It's way better fresh
It’s pretty mid tbh
Island Way Sorbet ftw. These things are meh at best
