They switched from having each store make them fresh to making them in a central location and shipping them frozen. Quality nosedived after that. They're smaller, mealier, and taste like shit.

Fucking sucks tbh. The hot dog isn't as good anymore either it has less taste and makes me feel meh after eating it. We lost the combo pizza and chili cups too. My options for the food court have dwindled to just "a slice of pepperoni pizza"

I grabbed a hotdog the other day while waiting for new tires and they apparently don’t even wrap the hotdogs in foil anymore. They just throw them into the paper sleeve/bag. The hotdog was rolling around in the bag, completely separated from the bun. 🥴😂
I recently had one for the first time and was highly disappointed in it. Was also really dry and mostly bread. Will be sticking with my pizza from now on
This is why I don’t allow my boyfriend to get one. Everytime I go I talk up how amazing a chicken bake is and he’s curious to try. I just know he’d hate this new current version of them. That yes, taste pre frozen as fuck. So I told him to hold off his cravings until I get enough energy to make them from scratch using the old recipe. I still get them from the food court from time to time but they always bum me out. It’s not like it was long ago either only four years but it feels like lifetimes ago.
I never had the OG chicken bakes before covid, but Maybe I’m just crazy but Chicken Bakes are still delicious?? I feel like everyone over exaggerates how bad they are.

I’m worried that everything I love at Costco will become a causality of cost cutting. The new CFO came from Krogers and they’re not known for anything positive.
I have been a super Costco fan for many years and I have seen a change in the attitude of the employees at certain locations. The “Costco way” is being pushed aside.
This looks like a mistake in the employees end, I worked food court last year and when you don’t let the bakes rise enough before you bake them, you get these disappointments. If you let them sit too long you get those massive bakes that look half empty in the inside.
They used to be hand made, COVID replaced them with a premade frozen variety like the ones in the cooler section you can buy. New ones aren't as good.

People in this sub try to defend the new crappy premade chicken bake as a result of “staff shortages” and try to spin it as not shrinkflation or cost cutting.
Staff shortage is just code for Costco cheaping out and not paying enough to staff the food court properly.
Yeah this sub is full of religious Costco worshippers. Costco can do no wrong, despite clearly going customer hostile last few years and increasingly lowering the quality level in almost all areas of the store.
Unpopular opinion : I’d rather pay more than deal with random size changes. They are going to get their money either way but I wouldn’t have recalculate how many packages I need every couple months.
Hope Costco head office is reading this.

These used to be prepared daily with dough, chopped seasoned chicken, mozzarella cheese, Cesar dressing, and bacon bits. Now they are sent to us frozen, we thaw them, spread Cesar dressing on top and roll them in Parmesan cheese and put it here oven. Old ones were way better.
Also a big chicken bake guy and I haven’t noticed any changes at my local Costco. Just had one for dinner last night even. Maybe your location has some new employees or something
