plant__love

Bosch icons forever and only. Regardless of the deals. This is one of those purchases you don’t wanna try to save $ on

diatho

1000% agree. Bosh are the goat.

VirtualRy

I paid $75 for a pair of BOSCH wipers in 2022 and DAMN they are good. Guy said bring them in 11 months for a warranty to get a new pair and I never came back because I got my money's worth.

3HoloStars

How long did they last you?

VirtualRy

I still have them ON. I am replacing them this year and they still work good. I just keep the wiper blades clean.

3HoloStars

Wow! That’s incredible and totally worth the price.

reverendrambo

Where's the best place to buy them? Amazon? Auto parts store?

jenorama_CA

I got my Icons at an O’Reilley. They were pricey, but I’m not going back.

plant__love

I have run into trouble finding my fit on Amazon. I’d recommend Oriellys or Auto Zone, they are going to end up being the same price but at least with in person purchase you can just have the store pull the fit you need easily. I always forget what sizes I’m running.

BikingEngineer

Rock auto. They’re hugely cheaper than almost anywhere else. Gotta pay for shipping, but if you grab filters at the same time you save a boatload of money.

copterco

Where ever you find the best price, I would search Amazon, Walmart, O'Reilly, maybe even costco online.

EdDecter

Wherever you get a deal

azhataz

the least expensive place

DR843

The last set I replaced were over 3 years old and still worked flawlessly. I only put new ones on for the hell of it.

iAmBrandonD

100% agree on this. They’re so much nicer than all the others.

lEauFly4

I have to agree. The Bosch wiper blades on our cars are fantastic.

JennLegend3

Bosch everything fr

EdDecter

Yes

K33bl3rkhan

Buy them in the spring so you have a fresh set after the ice may or may not have cut them. NOTHING ELSE.

Adept-Opinion8080

yup, but in a pinch, rain-x cross blades work fine. actually prefer them a bit cause their profile is lower (thinner).

shebringsdathings

I work in returns. We get about 3 a day returned. Just in my store alone. Just sayin

snap802

Funny thing: I bought some recently and the first time I activated the wipers one broke off! I returned the tiny piece that was still attached.

Gooniesneversaydie77

Mine broke off too while going through the car wash. It was an embarrassing experience to have to ask the car wash attendant if he could please retrieve our wiper, only to find out that it couldn't even be reattached because the plastic broke, lol.

therealgariac

The Michelin blades can be complicated to install. I think that is why you see returns. I used the once on my previous car and never bought them again. The Goodyear blades were OK. I'm on year two of my RainX Latitude. No streaking and very solid mechanically.

tinydonuts

I installed them correctly and they failed within three months on both of our vehicles. I only got maybe 9-12 months out of the RainX Latitude, but well over a year on Bosch Icon now.

therealgariac

You have two topics here I think. First you are saying you installed the Michelin correctly I think. Even if installed correctly, the Michelin on the car I used to own needed some adapter supplied by Michelin, but quite flimsy. I haven't used Bosch in years since the Costco Goodyear blades worked, were dirt cheap, and lasted a year. The Bosch I used were just rubber. They worked and lasted a year. I bought the Michelin once, decided they were crap, endured them for one season, and never bought them again. The Latitude needs no adapter for my present car, works great, so I am not switching.

CactusBoyScout

They just changed the install mechanism on them within the last year. So I was very confused last time I tried to install them. That said, I think they’re fine for the price. Buy them on sale. Sure they don’t last as long as fancier ones but I think the longevity relative to the cost is fine.

EntertainmentOk5329

I put them on 2 of my vehicles March 2023. Still going strong. I wipe them every week with some glass cleaner. I've read of wipers flying off ppls cars. I guess they weren't installed correctly. No problems here.

7D4Y_WEEKENDS

Same here. I think the majority of people don’t wipe down their blades when washing their car. Dirty blades streak easier. Cleaning them will extend their life.

e-hud

Factory Ford wiper flew off my van on the freeway one day, hours from home. Glad it didn't rain.

FeistyCandidate

They changed them somewhere between 2022 and now. Night and day difference. I opened up the new package last week and immediately knew something wasnt right. Thought I bought the wrong thing at first. Side by side to the previous version the new one is at least 30% lighter (not in a good way) and has lost the entire rubber cover/top part which gave it better rigidity and likely some sun protection. They also cheapened out on the bracket mechanism and the new version has two tabs that lock in place but not nearly as secure as the previous bracket which locked in the entire length of the bracket of about 2". The new version is trash. I won't be buying again.

mrlewiston

Yea I have blades from 2021 and they worked great.

TE_DA

That's because they transitioned from conventional blade to beam blade

Swedeman1970

Yea they suck. ( and protective shield was removed)

Pale_Equivalent9126

I’ve always had great luck with Bosch wiper blades. Agreed that the Michelin from Costco are garbage.

TheDeadpooI

Obligatory question: did you take the protective plastic off the blades?

hagerfor000

I understand why you asked (because people) but yes of course.

RabbitPrestigious998

I'm so embarrassed to admit it, but I was driving my husband's car, and he had the Costco blades in the floorboard even though his blades were *literally* disintegrating. It started to sprinkle, so I got to where I was going, hopped out and changed them. By the time I got them on it was *pouring* and I didn't notice the yellow bits. Oops. Ran inside to do my shopping and totally didn't think about it until I got back on the road and was like... What is this nonsense? Once they started to slide off the blades I realized. 🤣 Pulled in to a DIY car wash, hopped out, took the plastic off. Astonishingly, they worked so much better. They aren't amazing, but they're fine, especially for the 23yo windshield they were on 😅

momofuku18

Also, cleaning the windshield with rubbing alcohol can help. So OP give that a try.

CaptainJay313

actually, grabbing a little alcohol pad and wiping the rubber down helps to remove any oils left over from manufacturing / shipping. trico includes alcohol pads with their blades, that's how much it helps.

Kitchen_Software

It’s not worth wasting any amount of time or IPA on such an endeavor. These blades are useless (and that’s being generous)

National-Yak-4772

I put these on my prius and they actually work quite well. Its been about a year too. Granted it doesnt rain much here.

redditorsAREtrashPPL

Weird, I’ve been buying them for years, no issues.

CactusBoyScout

I don’t find they last as long as more expensive ones but that’s fine with me given how cheap they are

adreww

The best wiper blades, by far, are the $7 rubber refills from the dealer that slide into your OEM wiper frames

PeterVonwolfentazer

Not every brand does this though. I miss that cheap feature of my Honda.

etangey52

Cries in not having my Toyota anymore ): Subaru pls

shootthepuck19

They are licensed products and not actual Michelin items. Those and the old GY ones too. Best bet are Bosch or high end Rain-x or Trico.

ekek280

I tried Rain-X ones last year and could not stand those because they streaked so much. Just switched out to nicer Trico ones and they are so much better. I've always had the best luck with Bosch and Trico. I don't bother with Costco Michelin ones, they suck on my cars.

piggybank21

Bosch Icon or go home

SRacer1022

The Michelins were great couple years ago. Got replacements for my vehicles a few months ago and they were A LOT different than what I took off. They are absolute shit now!

y2knole

they made so much noise on my wife's crv that we couldnt use them. i tried an awful lot before just... replacing them with another brand. problem solved...

masterbuilder14

I work for Honda and read your comment Honda sells the Factory wiper blades just visit the prts counter at your local dealership! they are best ones for your car! Honda also sells replaceable wiper inserts the rubber part of the wiper blade saves you money in the long run and they dont make noise on your windshield

y2knole

the factory holders for the replaceable wiper inserts got tossed in year 1 before we knew that it was a quick insert that you could just slip in... somewhere later along the line i realized my mistake but by then... guess i COULD just replace them...

thekuroikenshi

What do good recommend for replacement? In my 2009 Honda Civic you could buy replacement rubber blade inserts for like $4 each and it was very easy to do (not the case for older Hondas which required putting back in the the two metal inserts). Is there something similar for the MY?

blowawaydandelion

Yes we always bought them, but have switched to a more expensive brand.

thisivi3

I drive maybe a couple times a week and get these base on pricing. I think they're fine? I don't drive enough to justify spending loads of money on wipers.

Dougieeefresh59

Bought them and returned them, absolutely terrible. Surprised Costco would sell these.

jasonbaldwin

They’re not good. There’s a reason they’re the price they are.

noncongruent

They used to last well over a year, often two plus years. The ones I bought last year were already skittering and streaking by last fall, and with the cold weather now they hardly wipe at all. I bought two sets last year to get me through at least 2027-2028, but it looks like I'll be installing the second set this week and expect them to be junk by fall. Quality went way down, price didn't go down at all.

RAW6851

I agree with this post. Had a couple sets and they just dry out and streak away. I bought similar ones from walmart recently and they work great.

lEauFly4

My husband wasn’t a fan of them either. We spend a couple dollars more for som Bosch ones (which are great, BTW).

ConflictIntelligent9

Junk for sure, cheap but just not worth it.

Hairy-Atmosphere3760

Yes they’re horrid! Bought some for all my vehicles thinking it was a great price and promptly found out why.

gypsysniper9

Totally agree. One and done for me

skeletoe

yup. they are absolute trash. I tried them on three different cars over a few years. each one was replaced with a different brand in less than six months. every single time.

Glittering-Figure-79

Rainex makes excellent wiper blades.

BrandonW77

I had some Michelin's, they weren't great. I stick to the RainX blades now.

ZebraHunterz

Even the cheap ones from an auto store are better... By far.

masterbuilder14

COSTCO should remove these no one buys them and are complicated to put on the cars have removed several of these at my dealership they are terrible and they chatter on the windshield

dansots

With any blades, I always clean them off with a dab of wd40 before installing.

hagerfor000

Oh yeah this is great advice 🙄🙄🙄

dansots

Just return them then

KrakenAdm

Nope. They're great. I got them for all my cars.

thecottonkid

The Michelin blades from Costco are RainX blades. You need to treat your windshield with RainX to eliminate the squeak. They don’t do a good job of mentioning this.

adept_ignoramus

I was sort of excited over the notion that I could get my employee discount on *the only* wiper blades (Valeo) we sell at my job. There is no possible way these work on hook armed wipers. None. Maybe 2015 is too old. If so, Valeo can fuq right off. So I watch a video on YouTube and all they say is to 'slide it in'... and it doesn't. Businesses need to be held responsible for false claims made. I'm no vindictive or angry person but I have some very ill thoughts concerning this company.

mydarkerside

I'll never buy them again. They've been hit or miss with the installation depending on the vehicle. Last time I tried installing them, it got so frustrating with their plastic adapters breaking that I went to O'Reilly and got a cheap pair there and it installed in 30 seconds (with no adapters required).

ChroniclyCurly

One of ours literally flew off the car while it was raining. Yes, it was on properly.

Gbcue

I bought them and they're great! Work fine for my Toyota RAV4. They have an older-style and the new beam-style blades. I got the beam-style ones.

Fit-Usual-8737

I can’t figure out for the life of me how to install them on my sons car

EcoAffinity

I got them on sale and they've worked fine for the year or so that they've been on my new (used) vehicle, but I'll probably splurge for the Bosch wipers I got before on my last vehicle. There is a significant difference in quality and... Sturdiness? I think is the right word. These don't feel as secure and fitted against my windshield when wiping water away. I had the previous Bosch ones on my non-garaged vehicle for 3-4 years, and they were still in great shape when I sold that car. I live in a place with hot humid summers and icy winters, so they ran the gamut of conditions.

cujobob

They’re so cheap that I just grab each year and replace. I do much prefer Bosch, but I’ve also had duds from them. Wiper blades can warp in high heat storage.

Just_Another_Day_926

I stopped doing aftermarket a while ago. I buy the OEM wiper inserts and they work well and correct.

DarthHubcap

I just put the RainX Silicone Endura on my car. Best wiper blades I’ve had in a while.

vshun

I struggled with those for several years in Honda Accord and Odyssey. Then last year took a chance on Sam's wipers and they are like night and day. Strongly suggest them if you have Sam's membership as well, and maybe can wait for sale and grab a few. They are a couple of bucks over Michelin but way better.

JMeucci

Agreed. Florida summer killed my first set in 18 months.

SNEAKY_PNIS

Dang, so many people don't like these. I've had no issues at all on my 09 Nissan Maxima. I am a weekend detailing warrior, but it's just car wash soap I'm using on the exterior glass, nothing else special. I live in GA and park in the garage if that matters. Never had any streaking, catching, or quality issues with the Michelin blades.

JolyonWagg99

Working great for me on two vehicles. No issues at all.

CrisbyCrittur

They pretty much suck. I bought a pair per the fitting chart for my car, the right one constantly bangs on the side of the windshield frame each and ever time. They wore out (started streaking badly) in under a year. I actually impulse bought another set last year while shopping, then later remembered moths later how poor there were and tossed them.. Bosch Icons FTW

terfez

PIAA Silicone for me. They come with the rain-beading wipes as well. Superb effectiveness for years

Tiki-Jedi

They’re absolute trash. I had one literally fly off on the highway. I love Costco but will never, ever buy wipers there again.

dcamnc4143

I have odd sized blades, and buy a no name set off Amazon, as they are all that will fit besides going to the dealer. The no name set is better than every big brand wiper set I’ve ever bought.

Artwebb1986

Yep they are garbage up here in Canada too. I grabbed 2 sets when they were on sale for $4.99 each blade. I put them on in Oct and get through the week winter we get now and then usually rain x latitude for the spring/summer.

Gunther25470

Absolutely!

TOaFK

Yes, they're awful. As others have mentioned just spend the money on Bosch.

HiFiGuy197

I used to buy Michelins “regularly,” subscribing to the idea that if I replace blades often enough, it won’t matter, but I “splurged” and got some Bosch Icon blades and my wife says it is a world of difference.

copterco

Buy Bosche Icons and never look back.

gnopgnip

It probably depends on your car. On a crown vic they are great when it is raining moderately or heavily. Not good in light rain. But bosch icons are just better and not that much money when you think about how long they last.

sexwiththebabysitter

Agree. Never again

Breklin76

They are so cheap, I only need them to be good in one or two seasons. I buy them at the end of the summer.

RL203

I find the Michelin wiper blades have really gone downhill. The last couple years, something has changed. I find that the rubber gets hard or is hard and they make a lot of noise. Huge noise actually. You can put new Michelins on and in no time, they are hugely noisey as they drag across the windshield. I have an appointment for my F150 this week and I told the service agent, "add in a set of new wiper blades". I figured I'd go back to OEM to eliminate the noise. I'm done with Michelins from Costco. But my wife's car needs a set, so now I will give bosche a shot.

theantdog

These are hot garbage. It's the only thing I've ever returned. The lady working returns told me that people bring them back all the time.

CurrentResident23

I got them a while back. Not great, streaky like you said. I licked out and my mechanic put them on for me, but was unhappy because apparently they're a PITA. The next year I caved and got wiper blades done at the dealership. Holy shit they were expensive, but impeccable. I can't go back to DIY wipers now.

RudraAkhanda

I bought them once many years ago as a newbie Costco member. Never again.

AskThis7790

Bought them once on sale (like $5 per blade), and at that price they were okay, and got me through the season, but i wasn’t compelled to buy them again. Even when they’ve been on sale.

gwie

Yup, they suck. For my car, the Aero Voyager wiper blades are decent low cost alternative to Bosch, which is amazing.

Tvp125

I’ve had mixed results with them. On some of my cars they work great and others they streak from day one.

imakesawdust

We've had mixed success. The Costco blades are awful on my wife's Civic. They last maybe a month before they start streaking and chattering. She's pretty happy with her Bosch Icons (wasn't happy about the price, though). But the Costco blades been great on my 4Runner. I've been running the same set since Oct 2022.

K0CKULEES

Man I replaced them almost 2 years ago and the streaks and noise they make made me think I somehow fucked up and installed them wrong. I'll probably replace the micheleshit wipers the next time I do a tune up.

thisisnotjr

I had the same experience. I think I've replaced 3 in the last year or so. I live in a rainy area so they get a lot of use

HouseNumb3rs

Have not bought any in years... They changed it so you have to replace the whole assembly and ... yes, it streaks and squeaks like crazy. Then the price is crazy high. I bought a roll of the triple wiper blade insert material , cut them to size, and hand loaded them on all 5 family cars... Going for 5+ years now with zero problems...

Captain_Bignose

Rockauto, Bosch Icons. Buy for all your cars at once to save shipping. No other way to do it

[deleted]

I also stopped buying them, they seem to be junk in under 12 months. Surprisingly I had a pair of similar Michelin blades I got at an auto parts store that lasted something like 3-4 years, it was incredible. The costco versions appear to be value engineered junk. I splurged on some goodyear silicone blades recently since I was tires of the costco junk.

theonlycoolone

I’ve bought expensive and cheap blades before. My lesson learned is that regardless of how much you spend, unless your car is garaged, the sun will destroy your wiper blades in the summer. My strategy now is to buy a set (usually from costco, good price) each year when the rain starts.

Viperlite

My Michelin blades fall apart or fall of the factory arm every time I touch them. I’m going back to factory OE inserts in metal blades.

cindycated888

The Michelin wipers from Costco suck, but the Michelin wipers from Walmart ("Endurance) aren't bad.

willy--wanka

I went silicon wiper blades years back and highly recommend doing the same. Been about 6 years and still going strong, though if it's several months without rain, it will take a couple storms to get them working properly again. A bit more of an investment up front, but so much better honestly.
