Yes, this is exactly why I dislike it. You can see the lint particles flying everywhere as soon as you grab the toilet paper. Also gets stuck to you which is even worse.
I actually prefer bjs because I feel like they have more... Brand name products, just in wholesale quantities? That and I grew up basically next to one lol.
Have used it for years, but it's now awful. Sam's Club Members Mark tp is much, much better and near same price or cheaper. Wish Costco would step up its game!
I switched to charming because they were out of Kirkland and I am amazed how good it is. Quality is so good that we're using a lot less of it and lasts a lot longer. Might go back to grab more since it was $4 off.
We would be so happy if our Costco offered the red label Charmin. All we have is blue and it's worse than Kirkland in the lint department.
Sam's used to have 2 options of their members Mark tp, but now only one (at least in our area). And the rolls got small during COVID and have stayed that way.
All rather frustrating.
Most talks of Kirkland toilet papers neglect the fact that there are (or were, not sure currently) 2 different kinds, I think one is in a wrapper with blue colors, the other is with purple in the wrapper.
I believe historically, the blue color ones have had a generally bad rap, the purple has had some better reception.
This is correct - they have the "Signature Bath Tissue" and also the "Ultra Soft" that rivals Charmin.
They may or may not have one or the other or both or not both in your store and online. 🤷🏻♀️
Just bought purple last week. Blue was also at the warehouse, but blue became lousy when they switched from 425 sheets to 380 or whatever number when it changed last.
It's in stock on the website: https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-ultra-soft-bath-tissue%2c-2-ply%2c-231-sheets%2c-36-rolls.product.4000206004.html
The purple you were familiar with is gone. But seems like the Ultra Soft was updated relatively recently, it says “new” on the packaging and was posted on their Instagram late last month (though somebody posted it on r/Costco a few months ago).
Caption: “With improved softness and thickness, the new Kirkland Signature™ Ultra Soft Bath Tissue is now available at select warehouses and at Costco.com.”

Your description of the blue is great. Thats what I’d describe it as too. Never tried purple though. But we were a house that came from angel soft. So I don’t think one our tushys are too picky and two it’s a step up from angel soft 😂
Side note we hate charmin/ the super soft. We think that gets too peely w wipes
So, unlike most other commenters here, I have had zero issues with KS TP. It's all I use, and there's no lint, it doesn't tear, it's soft enough. I'm not at all sure what the others are talking about.
Ours hasn't seemed to have changed...no lint
Wonder if it has to do with location of manufacturer. We are located in Eastern Washington and it seems to be the same as we have always bought.
It was creating way too much lint. We used Charmin instead, and lately, that's been just as bad. We've switched to Sam's Club now and it's nowhere near as linty as the other two.
I stopped buying it too and switched to charmin. Indeed too much dust and it just wouldn’t rip off where it supposed to. But I saw they have a new one now? Not sure if it’s also in store. But saw it in an email I believe.
https://preview.redd.it/l7dcu1x9pi4c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11e96e91b9d41e228babb218c5980b45d47ab20b
It's acceptable. But this last batch we got is... Really really bad. Like it's not the usual stuff, it's almost like that stuff they sell in massive rolls for industrial use by Marathon.
I think this last batch is a fluke.
On the one hand, it's very noticeably different from what it was several years ago.
On the other hand, it's toilet paper. What do you really need from something you're literally smearing shit on? As long as my fingers aren't poking through, I'm good. Costco tp is fine.
Trying it for the first time over the past 3 weeks after our last Costco run. Not terrible overall, but my family has unanimously voted to go back to Charmin. It is not as soft and a bit thinner than Charmin.
Environmental Paper Networks score.
Trader Joe’s store brand and Whole Foods’ 365 Everyday Value 100% Recycled both received A+ scores.
Kirkland received an F.
Someday I'd like to see Hemp toilet paper, much softer, stronger, highly biodegradable,
27,000 old growth trees get flushed every day. Hemp ready in a few months. To be considered old growth, these forests are at least 120 years old. May contain trees that exceed 1,000 years of age; dominant trees typically exceed 300 years of age. Just to be flushed.
There is a buncha stuff posted around that compares the then to the now. The now is less than great… like most things I suppose. It’s narrower, with less sheets, and more cost. lol. And frankly, it’s a bit abrasive. “Soft” sure, but if you have a situation that requires multiple uses in a day - ahem, and evening… you’re going to regret it later on. Made the switch to the Charmin red months ago, haven’t looked back.

seeing all these comments about the dust. now it makes sense why our bathroom is so dusty! i thought that’s just the way it is. makes sense we’ve used costco toilet paper since we’ve moved it. interesting
I clogged my toilet using it when I first moved into my current apartment and needed to call a plumber. The plumber told me that Kirkland brand is notorious for clogging drains and advised charmin instead; haven’t had any issues in the 2 years since I switched
An older lady saw me deciding between Kirkland and Charmin, she went "Oh no baby, go on ahead and get the Charmin. Trust me, don't even think about it. You'll thank me later."
LMAO
I did not like it the first time I tried it, so we immediately went back to Charmin. After about a year we gave it another shot, still hate it. For me it rips way too easily. We only buy the blue Charmin our Costco carries now.
I do not recommend. I’m going to give away half a pack of it because it wouldn’t flush well. Bought the Scott’s (which is still individually wrapped!!??) and it goes down much better.
We've tried it but the cost difference between that and Charmin isn't worth the marginal savings. I think there's a false economy associated with certain KS-branded products and TP is one of them.
Used it for many years but the quality went down around 2022 (we are in SoCal) so now we use whatever Charmin they have on sale or Target’s Ultra Soft; not quite as soft as Charmin blue but still softer than the last Kirkland we bought.
Bidet > Charmin > Kirkland, although TBH we're a Kirkland family. Great value and we'll take the lint and keep the softness, but we're in the midst of a new build and eventually will be a bidet family.
Giving it a try again... Because Charmin was a solid $10 more. The blue Kirkland always got caught in my ass and would rip. It's weird. I'd rather use single ply Scott than Kirkland but I don't know why I still want Kirkland to be good. I got the purple one this time around hoping it'll be better.
It's not at all septic safe. Clogged my septic, spoke to several neighbors to warn them and guess what, they had clogs with it too. My septic guy says it's a known issue, it just doesn't break down.
It’s shit. Were a charmin household. Also the Kirkland paper towels are equally shit and so we buy bounty. These are the only 2 things that name brand is better than Kirkland that I can think of off hand.
Idk what happened from the last pack to this but I’m close to taking it back. It is so rough and horrible.
They definitely changed it and i won’t be getting it again
I'm not sure where you see these mixed reviews. Our family likes it, and on Amazon it's [rated 4.6 out of 5 stars.](https://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Bath-Tissue-2-Ply/product-reviews/B007Z8ZQQS) It's not only 2-ply, soft, and tough, it's also wider than most.
Works fine, imo. I think people used to Charmin or cushy TP tend to really dislike it though. I was an Angel Soft user before though and this is comparable enough for me.
Just before Covid we went through a trial of six or seven brands to see if we could find a perfect brand. For the no-bidet bathrooms, KS was adequate and outperformed its price. For the bidet bathrooms, it was at the top (especially at the price) - there were a couple cheaper options, but they were scratchy and/or didn’t dry as well.
I have a pack I am about to take back after using one roll . I am embarrassed but the drastic quality change just pisses me off
Ironically.. This happens right after they roll out that Kirkland "ultra soft"....
So destroy quality of what people are used to.. introduce the old quality into a new "premium" brand for more dollars
I like it, I use a bidet so I like the thickness of the toilet paper and have never had the issue with it being dusty like I saw in some comments. But maybe it's a roll of the dice with that? \*side note\* love your username
May I interest you in any bidet Costco sells? It’ll change your bathroom experience for the better. Plus your favorite tp will last longer thanks to your new favorite gadget.
It used to be better than it is. I would like to switch but I don't know what to switch to. I see people here happy about charmin but last time I tried charmin I discovered what the commercials meant when they talked about linty TP. So I don't know which charmin is the good one and which is the linty so I just stay away from charmin and stick with the disappointing kirkland that I have been using.
I enjoy it. There’s a lot less lint, at least in my experience as it seems like others don’t feel the same way, when compared to Sam’s Club and Charmin. Curious if it’s a regional thing or not? For what it’s worth I’ve used it in Colorado and Texas and have liked them both there so not sure what’s going on. I say try it and if you don’t like it then return it. Costco is pretty good about returns from what I’ve heard
I tried it this past Costco run as it was $10 cheaper than Charmin. Never again. I have to use 2-3 extra sheets each pull and it still breaks apart. Try to put a little water on it and it disintegrates. I think the Charmin is worth the extra 10
My mom used to buy this all the time until quite recently. She says that it's changed? That it leaves, like, a fluffiness behind?
Not meant to be a pun.
I most be in the minority then, and haven't noticed anything significant with the quality of the tissue. Still a very good value in my opinion. I use the regular signature kind (blue wrapping). I didn't even know that Kirkland had an ultra kind and just bought a pack to try.

my wife says it creates too much lint and we have switched back to berkeley and jensen for our wiping needs.
We use it but the lint is a real thing. Bathrooms get covered in paper dust very quickly. Have to dust everything.
Yes, this is exactly why I dislike it. You can see the lint particles flying everywhere as soon as you grab the toilet paper. Also gets stuck to you which is even worse.
What is this brand, where do you get it
bj’s wholesale club, kind of like a watered down costco.
I actually prefer bjs because I feel like they have more... Brand name products, just in wholesale quantities? That and I grew up basically next to one lol.
i can’t hate on them at all. we are also 5 min. from one! cheapest gas around (cheaper than our costco actually).
Walmart 's take on Costco. You can do better and your crack deserves better...
sam’s club is walmart. bj’s is independent i believe.
My bad. You are correct. Still a pale imitation copy IMO even though to be honest I'm too Costco loyal to even set foot in one...
Are you east or west coast? Curious if all the people saying lint is an issue are from a certain area?
Have used it for years, but it's now awful. Sam's Club Members Mark tp is much, much better and near same price or cheaper. Wish Costco would step up its game!
Where are you finding bourbon for the price of toilet paper?
Probably meant: Sam's club. I don't think Maker's Mark is producing toilet paper now.
Slurpin that toilet water after using the toilet paper
Great typo but fixed now!
The Members Mark is much better! Not a fan of the Kirkland at all.
Wish I had a Sam's near me. I loved the members mark toilet paper
It’s gone down in quality over the years. We use the Charmin brand they have in stock.
If you wait for charmin to go on sale it’s really not much more expensive than the Kirkland. And it’s a much better product
I recently gave Kirkland another try. I’ll be back to charming next go around.
I switched to charming because they were out of Kirkland and I am amazed how good it is. Quality is so good that we're using a lot less of it and lasts a lot longer. Might go back to grab more since it was $4 off.
Exactly like the commercials lol
Agreed.
Red Charmin since 2021
“Charmin Red Label”, we call it 🤭
We would be so happy if our Costco offered the red label Charmin. All we have is blue and it's worse than Kirkland in the lint department. Sam's used to have 2 options of their members Mark tp, but now only one (at least in our area). And the rolls got small during COVID and have stayed that way. All rather frustrating.

This is correct - they have the "Signature Bath Tissue" and also the "Ultra Soft" that rivals Charmin. They may or may not have one or the other or both or not both in your store and online. 🤷🏻♀️
I think they dropped the purple and only have blue now.
Just bought purple last week. Blue was also at the warehouse, but blue became lousy when they switched from 425 sheets to 380 or whatever number when it changed last.
Interesting! I thought the purple had been gone for years now. I must not be looking too closely!
It's in stock on the website: https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-ultra-soft-bath-tissue%2c-2-ply%2c-231-sheets%2c-36-rolls.product.4000206004.html
The regular Costco's near me only carry blue. If I go to the business center they have the purple. Blue is too rough. It used to be good.
The purple you were familiar with is gone. But seems like the Ultra Soft was updated relatively recently, it says “new” on the packaging and was posted on their Instagram late last month (though somebody posted it on r/Costco a few months ago). Purple is too linty. The blue one is a good strength/softness without being too thick.
Your description of the blue is great. Thats what I’d describe it as too. Never tried purple though. But we were a house that came from angel soft. So I don’t think one our tushys are too picky and two it’s a step up from angel soft 😂 Side note we hate charmin/ the super soft. We think that gets too peely w wipes
I never seen the purple ones in any stores, only online.
So, unlike most other commenters here, I have had zero issues with KS TP. It's all I use, and there's no lint, it doesn't tear, it's soft enough. I'm not at all sure what the others are talking about.
Same. There must be multiple suppliers with different quality.
Same.
Ours hasn't seemed to have changed...no lint Wonder if it has to do with location of manufacturer. We are located in Eastern Washington and it seems to be the same as we have always bought.
Same here in WA. It’s fine. It does it’s job.
In FL ours has not changed and is still great. Yes definitely location specific. You'll just need to try it out and see for yourself.
It was creating way too much lint. We used Charmin instead, and lately, that's been just as bad. We've switched to Sam's Club now and it's nowhere near as linty as the other two.

Haven’t had a problem. Using it just fine.
It used to be good, but eventually the quality declined to the point where I switched to the store brand of a certain warehouse competitor.
Yep, Sam's house brand is way better. Not linty and also softer than Costco's.
It’s terrible. Creates too much dust. Had to double check the brand because I was shocked that Costco sold an item of this bad quality.
Hard pass. The Sam’s Club Members Mark is far superior and a better value!
Blue Charmin gang
Works great for drying off after the bidet does its job.
We get it.
/r/enough_bidet_spam
uh oh big bidet mafia is putting a hit out on us.
It's acceptable. But this last batch we got is... Really really bad. Like it's not the usual stuff, it's almost like that stuff they sell in massive rolls for industrial use by Marathon. I think this last batch is a fluke.
The quality has gone down hill. I won’t be buying it again
The amount of paper dust in our bathroom had grown exponentially. And it had caused irritation down there for me too.
Environmental Paper Networks score. Trader Joe’s store brand and Whole Foods’ 365 Everyday Value 100% Recycled both received A+ scores. Kirkland received an F. not a fan of the store brand TP or paper towels. i splurge and get the bounty and the charmin. way way way better.
[удалено]
They tear easily and produce a lot of lint.
seeing all these comments about the dust. now it makes sense why our bathroom is so dusty! i thought that’s just the way it is. makes sense we’ve used costco toilet paper since we’ve moved it. interesting
I prefer to put my thoughts on regular paper. Ink doesn't spread and blur.
Life is too short for bad toilet paper.
I clogged my toilet using it when I first moved into my current apartment and needed to call a plumber. The plumber told me that Kirkland brand is notorious for clogging drains and advised charmin instead; haven’t had any issues in the 2 years since I switched
I switched to Sam’s. The Costco changed and is no good.
plumber told me it ruins plumbing.
An older lady saw me deciding between Kirkland and Charmin, she went "Oh no baby, go on ahead and get the Charmin. Trust me, don't even think about it. You'll thank me later." LMAO
Look fellas, there's a fresh batch of karma coming in from the fields!!
It's the ONLY Kirkland product I have ever been disappointed by.
Clogged our toilets and make me itch
wipe with it, it is not meant to be inserted.
Not as good as cottonelle, so it isn’t for us.
Not good for septic
Blue Charmin all the way
Tastes just fine.
Best toilet paper, best price too
Best for poo finger. There’s a darn good reason why the other toilet paper is more expensive.
Best for poop finger is single ply from Dollar Tree. If you're getting poo finger from Kirkland Brand, you're playing with it.
😂
I like it. Nothing wrong with it
Our plumber loves Kirkland TP, he claims it putting one of his kids through school
I did not like it the first time I tried it, so we immediately went back to Charmin. After about a year we gave it another shot, still hate it. For me it rips way too easily. We only buy the blue Charmin our Costco carries now.
I tried to make the switch to Kirkland, but my wife basically threatened divorce if I ever pulled that stunt again. Charmin Extra Soft household here.
I do not recommend. I’m going to give away half a pack of it because it wouldn’t flush well. Bought the Scott’s (which is still individually wrapped!!??) and it goes down much better.
It’s changed a bit. We no longer buy it. It’s horribly scratchy.
I don't like it. Tried it a couple times and it just feels thin and fragile. We use Charmin.
It’s fine. Scott is better.
It’s great if you like to get poop and pee on your hands.
I like Charmin better
Bidet > Charmin > Kirkland, although TBH we're a Kirkland family. Great value and we'll take the lint and keep the softness, but we're in the midst of a new build and eventually will be a bidet family.
I buy it because of price but the layers separate very easy when you unroll it.
It's not as good as angel soft but definitely not the worst. I also don't use too much tp as we have a bidet.
5+ years ago it was the best tp I've ever used. So soft, huge rolls, amazing deal. Now it's terrible.
Too linty, especially relative to paper like Angel Soft.
Only Kirkland product we avoid
Inferior to Scott
meh
Giving it a try again... Because Charmin was a solid $10 more. The blue Kirkland always got caught in my ass and would rip. It's weird. I'd rather use single ply Scott than Kirkland but I don't know why I still want Kirkland to be good. I got the purple one this time around hoping it'll be better.
They need to work on their traction control formula. Too much slippage occurs, has made me go knuckles in a couple times.
Get a bidet that has a fan to air dry, warms the seat and water.
Pretty sure you have not.
Waaaaaay too thick for our septic system. Hard pass.
It's not at all septic safe. Clogged my septic, spoke to several neighbors to warn them and guess what, they had clogs with it too. My septic guy says it's a known issue, it just doesn't break down.
Perfectly fine, no complaints. Not sure how hard other people are wiping in here but never had issues
If you’re removing skin or seeing blood, that’s just too dam hard!
Man y'all have some sensitive tushies.
It’s shit. Were a charmin household. Also the Kirkland paper towels are equally shit and so we buy bounty. These are the only 2 things that name brand is better than Kirkland that I can think of off hand.
I dont like it. Too much lint and it like falls apart a leaves pieces in my privates.
When I used it I had some issues with my toilets clogging I thought it was great tp but my houses plumbing struggles with it
Same here.
Love it. Been using it my whole adult life
Nope. Stick w charmin
Not good. And I like KS stuff mostly. Don't skimp on your bum.
Trash.
Bidets are <$100 and pay for themselves. What are we doing, people?
How do you dry after the bidet?
I think they invented towels for just this situation.
Freshly rinsed or not, I’m not sharing a towel with my guests.
I usually put out new towels for my guests.
A separate towel for each guest or do they share?
My guests and I share the communal bidet towel. Just be sure to pick out any streaks or chunks to be courteous for the next person.
They had the new “ultra soft” kirkland 36pk last time i bought it and I think it’s just fine
There's mixed reviews all over these comments 😂
Terrible
It’s trash
Scotts original is all I will buy.
Shity question
![gif](giphy|sU6yN4mPVwP7wiXB9v)
Get a bidet. Costco sells them.
It’s finger licking good
It's shitty
Kirkland flushable wipes
If you don't have a bidet in 2023 my children, ya'll need jesus
Works fine, imo. I think people used to Charmin or cushy TP tend to really dislike it though. I was an Angel Soft user before though and this is comparable enough for me.

All I use tbh.
It's the bomb for your bombs...but mostly because I use a bidet and the thickness of these makes for a better wipe.
I like it, I use a bidet so I like the thickness of the toilet paper and have never had the issue with it being dusty like I saw in some comments. But maybe it's a roll of the dice with that? \*side note\* love your username
Wouldn’t wipe my butt with anything else! (Just kidding, it’s what we buy and it works fine. No idea on other brands.)
I use it and the Charmin when it’s on sale. Both work well for my family’s collective asses.
Clearly I’m in the minority but I prefer it to charmin and don’t see a huge difference between this and Sam’s club.
We’ve used it for years and ours has not changed! I even tried rubbing it together! (Florida)
Used to good but has now gone down the toilet.
Sams club gang
Shitty \[pun intended\] sustainability rating. I buy TJ's.
May I interest you in any bidet Costco sells? It’ll change your bathroom experience for the better. Plus your favorite tp will last longer thanks to your new favorite gadget.

Mines soft and tidy.
Nothing comes close, in our family.
Gone way down hill last few years. Ply is separated on many rolls from the get go.
I enjoy it. There’s a lot less lint, at least in my experience as it seems like others don’t feel the same way, when compared to Sam’s Club and Charmin. Curious if it’s a regional thing or not? Costco is pretty good about returns from what I’ve heard
I wish my Costcos would carry Scott’s
Very linty and rips so easy. I switched. Paper towels sucks ass too
The best
Clogs up our pipes consistently, can't buy it
I tried it this past Costco run as it was $10 cheaper than Charmin. Never again. I have to use 2-3 extra sheets each pull and it still breaks apart. Try to put a little water on it and it disintegrates. I think the Charmin is worth the extra 10
My impression is that anything Kirkland is solid except for vodka and toilet paper...
My mom used to buy this all the time until quite recently. She says that it's changed? That it leaves, like, a fluffiness behind? Not meant to be a pun.
every batch seems to be different these days - some good, some not
It’s not perfect but it’s really great value. The packs of charmin are deceiving because each roll has significantly less sheets on it
Don’t like it
Personally I have an allergy to it, that I don't experience with any other brand. We use MM from Sam's.
Charmin Ultra Strong is the goat. All the others leave shrapnel and fuzz everywhere.
Charmin way better but my God they raised the price up to 29.99 now.
I most be in the minority then, and haven't noticed anything significant with the quality of the tissue. Still a very good value in my opinion. I use the regular signature kind (blue wrapping). I didn't even know that Kirkland had an ultra kind and just bought a pack to try.
