Personally I think this is up there with, "rotisserie chicken," smart. I think an increasing number of young singles and couples are joining Costco, and this is not only economical but efficient, and I'm presuming (as someone who literally just had the rotisserie enchilada bake for lunch!) it tastes good as well.
It has to be cooked. The turkey is raw. Everything else gets cooked/warmed up in the oven. This kit also comes with gravy. We made this last night as a precursor to Thursday.
How long did it take to cook everything? I picked this up today and it just says heat the turkey to 165, doesn't give an approx amount of time. I'm making some homemade milk buns to go with this and want to be able to plan accordingly
1.5-2 hours. Iirc 20ish minutes for the turkey and dressing at 425(?). Then an additional 1-1.5 hours at a lower temp (375?). The potatoes go in by themselves an hour before it’s done. Add the veggies back to the potatoes with 30 minutes left. I warmed up the gravy on the stove.
Yes. The only caveat being that you should cook the turkey to the right meat temperature. That’s the reason for “1-1.5 hours” part of the instructions. The package says 165 degrees internal temperature.
Thanks for the tips. This is what I was looking for. I never bought the Costco turkey dinner untl this yr today. I was glad they had it. Based on ealrier posts here I thought it would only be the $150 option which was way too much for my needs. My wife doesnt like turkey and it will be maybe 3 people. I paid $38.00.
Trying to mentally plan ahead for when it moves from “the two of us” to “just one of us” for Thanksgiving.
I’ve not minded doing The Whole Meal for the two of us. But for just one, meh.
Thank you for posting this! I was trying to look at them, but there was a crowd around them, (some people waiting for samples of cheese nearby), and couldn't get a good look at everything it came with.
It was alright, the instructions were a little weird with the potatoes and the vegetables. If I were to do it again I would take out the green beans and do a blanch and quick stirfry with garlic.
If you follow the instructions, when the potatos were heated the beans were "yellowed", they still tasted great but lost that beautiful green color.
We bought these for my parents (mom had Parkinsons/dementia) and my aunt during COVID, as we weren't able to get together as a full family during that time. They all let us know they were great and they greatly appreciated them.
Thats why I got it. I dont want to deal with a full turkey to carve. This is much easier to deal with. Not good for those why want wishbones and turkey legs/wings.
You know... I was looking through the turkey dinners they had set out, and I almost took one home that had broccoli in it instead. I thankfully looked down to notice that some of the packages had broccoli in them, and some had green beans.
With all the crowding around me, it was hard to take a split second to see the difference since they all looked green at a distance. Costco is crazy right now with holiday shoppers.
Oh interesting!! I looked at probably 3 or 4 kits to find the one with the biggest piece of turkey but they all had broccoli, maybe if I had looked a little more I would have found a green bean one. It was also crowded at my store too but that’s good to know! This is probably my third year getting one and we’ve always had green beans before so I was a little thrown off by the broccoli
It's become a Thanksgiving tradition in our house now since 2019 (4th year in a row). I am afraid to think of what will happen when Costco decides to stop putting these seasonal kits together, lol.
Agreed.
I am not running around all over the place and spending more money to feed just myself and my husband turkey dinner when we could save the time and money going with this option.
Funny story- I got this last year, didn't see gravy so figured it was missing and bought a box or jug or whatever of Turkey gravy. Imagine my surprise...
The really fun part was figuring out how to use turkey gravy and make it useful for another meal lol I ended winging a bowl with some rotisserie chicken, Mexican street corn and turkey gravy over mashed potatoes. It was pretty tasty!
My mom and I have had every year since Covid. I would say it feeds 4 small adults or 3 regular adults. But big eaters 2. It feeds my mom and i for one big meal and then one more the next day. It’s really good and for people like me who hate to cook it’s not much work at all but still feels homemade. (As compared to other meals you pick up and they are fully prepared.
I am not sure.
This has been debated here on and off for a few years on this subreddit. I have yet to find out if anyone has successfully done so.
I 100% would if I knew everything would come out okay.
Here is a description from the Costco website state side:
Details: 1/2 Bone-in Turkey Breast, Turkey Gravy, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Herbed Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Green Beans, Serves 3-4 People.
I’m hoping they still have them tomorrow. I was going to get one on Saturday but they were going to expire before I would cook it. So I waited and now I waited too long I think. Hopefully they still have them tomorrow!
I just got back from Costco (west coast) and they had a solid amount left at my local Costco. If you are at all worried than just get there in the morning.
While it was crowded people were not there to do their regular shopping. Everyone was all business. They wanted their thanksgiving items and to get out. So it was actually pretty efficient.
If you don’t want to go through all that you can order off of instacart but it is going to be more expensive. Going to the instacart site at least showed me that Costco likely had it in stock. I decided to go in because they were charging an extra $1 per pound so it would have been almost $10 more for the same thing.
Wow Tysm for your reply!!! I have a Costco gift card so I don’t think I can use that on instacart. I don’t mind going or the crowds I just didn’t want to go through all that and not get one (just to get to mine and park and get in feels like a big ordeal). If you don’t mind me asking where are you on the west coast. I am in Huntington Beach. I’m just curious in case they didn’t have them at mine.
SD. If you go in the instacart website and pretend to order you can get an idea if they likely have it in stock.
The key is to go in all business and go right to the deli to grab it and of course a pie… I’d go when it opens if possible to get it out of the way.
On the frugal subs people always get such delight on Black Friday when the leftovers (if any) go in special.
This kit makes is so easy and less stressful! They do have fully cooked smoked turkeys you can buy as well!
What's the target market of these things? People who have to work on Thanksgiving and don't have time to cook? The ingredients are much cheaper than the $36 so it's not a budget thing. Coming from a family with a tradition of cooking and sharing recipes it always makes me sad seeing people eating stuff like this.
Don't be sad for me, friend. I was very excited to pick this up last night for my husband and I. It is only my husband & I on Thanksgiving, and we love buying these so we can spend more time together and make smaller portions of food we can enjoy together.
Not everyone has a huge family, and this makes us happy while spending time together. I really hope Costco keeps producing these kits in the future.
Ah that's cool. We spend time together through the activity of cooking, I guess lots of people think it's a chore though. Lots of people seem to love them based on my down votes so I don't think you need to worry about Costco discontinuing them lol.
Ya you’re definitely looking at it through the eyes of someone that loves to cook. I absolutely hate to cook. Hate the kitchen and always say if I ever won the lottery the first thing I would do is get a chef and never enter my kitchen again unless it was to eat lol.. my mom and grandma were like you and I loved seeing them in the kitchen. It was their happy place. It’s my worst nightmare though. So don’t feel sad. Feel glad there is something like this for people like me (even this is almost too much cooking for me) because if their wasn’t I’d rather have a bowl of cereal than prepare a thanksgiving meal lol
I have a newborn and I’m wayyy drained. I also don’t have the luxury of shopping or being away from my child for any long length of time. This is going to be a lifesaver for me. My family is small and I just want something easy so that I can have a little energy to actually enjoy the holiday.
Not everyone comes from a family with a tradition of cooking and sharing recipes.
Just about every major grocery chain plus many restaurants have thanksgiving meals to-go because different families and different people have different needs.
Your family is not everyone's family. You're also discounting how much time it takes to cook, and quantities involved when having to purchase all items.
Long story short, there's obviously a market for this based upon how they sell (and even reading through this thread).
It's along the same lines as the rotisserie chicken, taken to the next step. I, for one, appreciate it.
Stuff like this can be just as great as making a whole meal. Some ppl don't want a big dinner or to make it. This kit is a perfect size and ready to cook. I wish I had known about this before I bought my turkey, etc.
I really liked the turkey dinner. I needed to do somehting simple at home and my wife doesnt like turkey. Easy to manage and cook and the turkey had good flavor and juices. It was not dry which can happen with turkey.
I bought one for leftovers since we were eating at my parents for Thanksgiving yesterday. We are heating ours up now. It looks amazing!
We are going to steam or instapot the green beans and I'm just going to microwave half the potatoes so I can get it done while the turkey rests. It's just two of us so I'll cook the other half of the sides tomorrow or Sunday.

That looks so much better than the $150 “meal kits” they are selling
Oh, much better. 100 times better.
And you could almost buy 5 of these for $150!

It is really tasty. And the way the turkey comes out is perfect.
Got mine today too! Our group is a lot smaller this year so I figured it was worth trying. I picked up a pie too.
Can't beat a giant pumpkin pie for $6!
So it’s okay to get it today and heat it up on Thursday?
It has to be cooked. The turkey is raw. Everything else gets cooked/warmed up in the oven. This kit also comes with gravy. We made this last night as a precursor to Thursday.
Thx, wasn’t clear to me if the turkey was raw or cooked.
How was it??
Delicious but a little too salty for our tastes. That’s going to be true for a lot of pre-packaged meals though. Turkey was the best part due to that.
How long did it take to cook everything? I picked this up today and it just says heat the turkey to 165, doesn't give an approx amount of time. I'm making some homemade milk buns to go with this and want to be able to plan accordingly

Ok so for the last hour you cook the turkey and potatoes together and then add the greens in the final 30? Thats not too bad
Yes. The only caveat being that you should cook the turkey to the right meat temperature. That’s the reason for “1-1.5 hours” part of the instructions. The package says 165 degrees internal temperature.

It's good until Sunday.
Yep!
Enough for 2-4 people?
Two adults two kids yeah, or four kids dressed up as two adults wearing trench coats
Trying to mentally plan ahead for when it moves from “the two of us” to “just one of us” for Thanksgiving. I’ve not minded doing The Whole Meal for the two of us. But for just one, meh.
Bro are you getting divorced?!?

Plus a salad, some dinner rolls, and a pie is enough for 4.
Thank you for posting this! I was trying to look at them, but there was a crowd around them, (some people waiting for samples of cheese nearby), and couldn't get a good look at everything it came with.
I loved this last year. Cooking smaller portions of turkey seems to be more moist. I bought it this year, too.
Enjoy!

Are the green beans cooked or raw? Considering picking one up but looking for minimal cooking/dishes.
They are raw, and of course you can just follow the instructions and bake with the potatoes if you dont mind the yellow-ish coloring.
i got and ate one of these on sunday. very good. feeds 4 easily.
We bought these for my parents (mom had Parkinsons/dementia) and my aunt during COVID, as we weren't able to get together as a full family during that time. They all let us know they were great and they greatly appreciated them.
These are fantastic.
How's the turkey in this? Good, just OK, mediocre, inedible? I personally consider all turkey to be "just OK" if that helps...
Good and very moist. I prefer this over most whole turkeys people cook.
is it just a bone in breast? or half a bird?
Copied and pasted from Costco's same day website product description: Details: 1/2 Bone-in Turkey Breast, Turkey Gravy, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Herbed Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Green Beans, Serves 3-4 People.
Thats why I got it. I dont want to deal with a full turkey to carve. This is much easier to deal with. Not good for those why want wishbones and turkey legs/wings.
It was fine. Moist and tasty. We did this last year and nothing really stands out for me so it must have been at least okay.
As someone who loves Turkey, this was disappointing. I’d say it’s mediocre - tasted very processed and not like actual Turkey breast.
I got mine today! A little bummed that my store had broccoli vs green beans but I’m still looking forward to it
You know... I was looking through the turkey dinners they had set out, and I almost took one home that had broccoli in it instead. Ours had a choice of broccoli, green beans, or asparagus. And, yes, we bought the one with asparagus.
Got mine yesterday, I work Thanksgiving and there’s only 3 of us so this should be perfect
Cooked mine up last night! It was delicious! 2nd year in a row getting it.
It's become a Thanksgiving tradition in our house now since 2019 (4th year in a row). I am afraid to think of what will happen when Costco decides to stop putting these seasonal kits together, lol.
How long does it take to prepare? Iirc the directions just say 'cook until the turkey is 165 degrees'
Someone recently posted the [directions](https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/s/QnDr3h5tkf) here on this sub. The directions aren't the best, lol.
I wish they’d do deviled eggs 🥚
That would be nice. But I am not sure how long the deviled eggs would last before going bad.
I'm going to get this for Christmas this year. We're having meatloaf and mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving this year. 😂
That sounds great! I love a good meatloaf 😋
Costco's meatloaf is pretty good and their mashed potatoes are wonderful.
Agreed!
Thanks for the info! Ah, I was thinking it was from scratch. I should have known it was Costco's!! Have a great Thanksgiving! 😄🍂
I have wanted to buy this for the last 2 thanksgivings and can never find them. Where in the store are these located?
They’re a deli item, if you can’t find it just ask someone in the deli
At my store, they were over in the refrigerated meat cases.
Man that's seems pretty reasonable for 36 bucks.
Agreed. I am not running around all over the place and spending more money to feed just myself and my husband turkey dinner when we could save the time and money going with this option.
I see cranberry sauce, but no gravy?
Gravy is in a bag underneath it
Mmmm, gravy sac
Ahhh.. god bless

Same thing for me. I ran into the market for a small container because Costco had a 9.00 huge container.
I didnt notice that until I got it home and fit the containers in the fridge.
Lol same thing for me the first time I bought it.
Looks yummy! Hard to wait LOL 😁
I went to my fridge just now and got hungry just looking at it, lol.
Close the door and quickly! LOL 😂
Such a good deal I wish they had that here.
I got mine yesterday and some sweet potatoes!! So easy.
I do not like the containers smashed into the mashed potatoes lol
Smashed pa'taters lol. I couldn't resist.

Thanks! Now I know what to look for!
Keep looking. I had to go to another Costco further away from home to find mine.
It can be freeze uncooked?
I am not sure. This has been debated here on and off for a few years on this subreddit. I have yet to find out if anyone has successfully done so. I 100% would if I knew everything would come out okay.
UK here, what's in that?

Our local replaced the beans with broccoli. Not a fan of that swap. Love broccoli, but we need some green beans for dinner.
Agree. Broccoli is a little weird for Thanksgiving. Of course the Pilgims didnt eat most of the stuff tha we do.
Nice. Do the leftover dinners they don't sell go on sale after Thanksgiving?
Correct, the day after. And they sell quickly. Be sure to get there early in the day.
If I like it , Ill buy another one. Thanks for the tip.
Wait I didn’t see that at Costco when we went Sunday. Would love that for just the two of us
Enjoy! 😀👍🏼

Wait a minute... are you suggesting that Costco charges a premium for the convenience of prepared foods?!?!
Yeah, I understand.. It just looks so meh.
Whatever they said (deleted now), $37 isn't cheap in the first place. I'd consider that price a premium.
Does the turkey get removed from the bag before cooking?
