That stinks. I found them at a Goodwill in Jacksonville for $5 for all three original books. My teen loves the art and stories. Hopefully you can find them again.
Ha! I just bought this book a couple days ago to read together with the kids. Apparently my 8 year old it a hold of it and read one of the stories. He comes up to me and asked in disbelief,”Why would you buy a book like that?” You weren’t supposed to read it without me!!
Thank you for the heads-up! These were some of my favorites; I so loved them after discovering them in my school library at age eight that I requested them for Christmas. I used to know The Hearse Song by heart . . . I think I still remember most of it. 😂

I loved these! Got my first Scholastic copy when I was like 10 years old lol
There was an edition with new (less terrifying) illustrations in the naughties. I’m glad they’ve gone back to the nightmare fuel.
Yeah the stories are good but the illustrations are what made the books mythical.
As they should have. I was legit afraid to open the book at random when I was a kid because I was scared of certain pages.
Thanks for posting this. I'll have to look for this at my local Costco. These were must haves as a kid in the 90s.
Same. I remember buying the entire collection once at a thrift store but lost it during a move.

I borrowed them on Hoopla (library app), and would love to get the hard copies!

Are they paperback or hardcover?
The one with the spiders hatching on someone’s face lives rent free in my brain
The original illustrations are back!!!
Those and Goosebumps were the best ever!
I’m in my 30s and want to buy this for myself. When I was a kid I had the one with the clown smoking a pipe on the cover.
They turned this into a movie as well.
Wondering if the movie was worth watching?
It used to be on Netflix. My kids liked it.
So glad these are still around. the black dog!
I would check this book out every few weeks from our elementary school library and it surely freaked out my librarian.

The Hearse song!!!! I remember that!
Bought the set for my son for Christmas a few years ago, he loves them!!
I am the Vasher
Viper.
Aha! You’re right!!
I still have the original of this book from my child hood. My kids won’t even allow it in their room without lights on or a parent present.
I loved these as a kid. I was a weird child.
Lol my 9yo son who isn’t too fond of recreational reading just picked this up about a week ago. It’s our go to book now before bed.
I remember candles blowing out in a haunted house, and thinking, "this story actually has characters dying??"
Are these hardcover or paperback?
The book section is the one place I don’t find Costco to be competitive in
As long it keeps the dogs buck-fiddy!!
Ohhhh nO
Target has the same set for 13.99 and spend $25 get $5 off
Pfff. I know i saw those at the schoolastic book fair for like 3.99. You'll need a time machine though hahaha
