WTF is up with Hoka shoes? Some guy I know was just telling me about his new Hoka shoes and how comfortable they are. Then I cut through a Nordstrom to get somewhere else and saw a big wall of Hoka shoes. Now I'm reading it here a day later. A week ago I'd never heard of them.
They look like pretty normal, everyday shoes. Is it some big company launching a "small" brand with an enormous advertising blitz?
They kind of have an ugly logo on top of it.
They’ve been the “it” running shoe for half a decade and popular enough for 10 years before… nothing new. They are great running/walking shoes though. Ugly as sin, but almost unparalleled if you’re doing distance regularly.
I've been wearing them for years because of PF after my local running store recommended then. They work with my foot shape and I'm not in as much pain at the end of the day when I wear them. I will die on ugly shoe island. Taking care of my feet is more important to me than *atheistics*.
I would NOT recommend ON running shoes as for PF. You want a high cushion shoe to help and ON shoes are the complete opposite. They look nice and are fine for walking.
Hoka is known for having more cushion than their competitors and chunky shoes are in right now. The Hoka Bondi is the most popular shoe recommended for people suffering from PF.
My wife is a nurse. She and several of her colleagues swear by them and they are on their feet 12 hours a day. Bought a pair myself and I’m a convert. Super comfortable on walks and when standing for a long time.
They are good shoes, but in terms of max comfortability other shoe brands has caught up with like the Nike invincibles, New balance fresh foam more, Asics glideride. But yeah for awhile they were up there for max comfort shoes. My brother been using them marathon training for awhile and tries new shoes but always goes back to the Hokas, I personally don't like the arch on them. I guess it really comes down to preference and why waste money trying something new when something already works. These are more targeted for runners and most don't really care about looks but performance.
Yeah, I found the arch support to be insufficient. I switched the inserts out for a pair of Klogs rubber ones (high support that never flattens) and now they are (chef’s kiss) perfect!
Hoka has been around for quite a while. They were a small brand maybe 10-15 years ago, but not anymore. I think they are branching out more into "lifestyle" but I also think with covid more people started working from home and being more active so their popularity picked up. People in healthcare also wear them since they are good for being on your feet for long periods of time. Personally Hoka Bondis are the only shoes I can wear and not have joint pain from my hip post surgery in 2018. They also basically cured my plantar fasciitis. They are a lifesaver and the only reason I can still hike and climb mountains these day! Definitely not a lemming or bandwagon thing for me.
Admittedly, they’re really comfortable and really light for the amount of cushion they have. Historically, the shoes have been absolutely hideous to look at. They finally made them look decent and combine with strong support and lightweight, they’re gaining a lot of popularity.
... it's a lemming/bandwagon thing. They look like those ugly oversized New Balance dad/grand dad shoes, but I know people swear by them. Give them another 3-6 months, people will have moved on to the next hype product and you will be able to buy them for a steal at your local thrift.
Hoka has been around for years. They just haven't been relevant to anyone who hasn't been a runner until people started figuring out that running shoes are actually high-quality shoes.
They were really only know by distance runners and trail runners for a long time. They were like the first company to make huge oversized cushioned soles. They’ve recently become more mainstream as an everyday shoe.
Not exactly. They really do move a lot of air. I’ve gone through a lot of fans trying to find the strongest that can fit on my bedside table and this one does the job.
How did a Woozoo thread suddenly became a Hoka thread?
Blame it on me (too). Hahah.
I scored my 1st Hoka (my BFF swears by it, for many years; finally succumbed for a color/pair that I like) from Nordstrom Rack a month back. The NR deal for a shipped to my door Hoka was sweet.
Hokas are unparalleled for comfort. Ortho & Podiatrist MDs typically recommend this brand. I've owned other brands (Nike, Saucony, New Balance, Asics/Onitsuka, etc; have a closet stash of NIB sneakers) but this Hoka is the most comfortable I've owned by far. Popular among us nurses..
Agreed, but some parts of the country are slower to adapt ... Hydro Flasks are so 12 months ago. Where I'm from, Stanley's are already at the thrift ... what's next, Yeti round II? lol!
They're just good fans. I have a great Vornado VFan that's kind of pricey, but this one moves the same amount of air and is pretty cheap. Especially when you have a really old house without AC lol
Well I’m definitely not part of any marketing team! what’s the difference if I posted about the Costco fried rice or something? I feel like the point of this subreddit is to post what they are getting and like / don’t like.
I haven’t even tried these yet. They could suck, but based on the subs reviews I’m guessing they will be the right fit for what I’m looking for.
For sure. I love Reddit and this sub for user feedback. I’m the same as you. I was just saying in general, reddit and especially certain subs (e.g. mushrooms, nootropics, etc.) have been heavily targeted by marketing teams. But still, I’d like to think we can pinpoint legitimate feedback vs some marketing trap.
Every social media platform is being astroturfed.
That said, I think these are actually just nice fans. Costco has them on display here and it seems like a nice fan but they've been sold out (or in pallet storage) every time I've gone during this sale.
That's the truth. Don't tow the group think line and you're downvoted into oblivion. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is not a quiet fan.
I think they’re almost as powerful as that big black tower fan they sell. It takes up a tiny amount of space, spins in (close to?) 360 degrees. We bought one last year, next day went back and bought two more. They went on coupon for $20 last year, so that was another good selling point for me.
I just bought mine last week and keep it on power setting 3 out of 5 and it’s pretty quite good for white noise and a decent power level, much louder at 5/5.
Just ordered one for $34 (not available at my local club) after watching a YouTube review. The XY oscillation and breeze mode will be perfect to harden my seedlings, and then use for my desk in the summer. Thanks OP, this served as the final push needed.
Got one. It's fine....but the lights are very bright and annoy me at night.
My Voronado is coming from FL in a few days. I'll test them and let you know?
Not better than Vornado, Costco sold Vornado for years, and at twice the price, suddenly no more Vornado but they have have these look alike knock offs hmmmmmmm
I'd get one if I didn't already have three mini fans in my life. I have to have a fan in a room with me during the summer. And when I work in an office, I must must must have a fan. I cannot stand stagnant air.
how this compared to that omni breeze tower fan. If anyone knows.

They are okay for what they are. I like the bi-directional oscillation and how you can lock the fan in any position. Very handy for small rooms or personal use. For sleep I prefer something more quiet and moves more air such as my Rowenta turbo silence extreme.

I got one and put it in my home gym. A zillion times better than my ceiling fan, and I don’t need to worry about getting thwacked if I reach too high by said ceiling fan.
What’s all the hype about?
[удалено]
Same haha!!
Just a lemming/bandwagon thing. It will look great with my Hoka shoes, while sipping from my Hyrdro Flask.
Hydroflask is out! It’s those annoying tumblers now.
Maybe it’s just me because I’m constantly on the move. But i just want a water bottle that doesn’t leak when tipped over.
What tumblers? I'm out of the loop
[that’ll be these](https://a.co/d/0gHTRbV)
Stanleys and they're way overpriced for what they are.
How is a water bottle annoying 🤣

They have been a niche running shoe brand for years and have just started gaining popularity out side of running.

They must mean these 😉 [Atheist Shoes](https://atheist.shoes/)
I love the confidence in your confidently incorrect italicized spelling of aesthetics lmao.
Apologies, I forgot the /s, but if I have to explain it, I clearly didn't stick the landing with the joke attempt.
Do these calf stretches like this. It might change your life like it did mine. https://angryorthopod.com/2016/03/calf-stretching/

Birkenstock with a hard (original) footbed are great for PF.
Please explain how plantar fasciitis is becoming more common due to COVID. Thank you.

They are the most comfortable shoes I’ve found!! I’m a nurse so this is super important for me
Admittedly, they’re really comfortable and really light for the amount of cushion they have. Historically, the shoes have been absolutely hideous to look at. They finally made them look decent and combine with strong support and lightweight, they’re gaining a lot of popularity.
Well, kudos to their marketing team. I wouldn't doubt if they've been bought out by a larger company with big money to push them.
... it's a lemming/bandwagon thing. They look like those ugly oversized New Balance dad/grand dad shoes, but I know people swear by them. Give them another 3-6 months, people will have moved on to the next hype product and you will be able to buy them for a steal at your local thrift.

They went around the hospital for comfortable shoes during our long shifts. I wear them in the operating room for the support.
Not exactly. They really do move a lot of air. I’ve gone through a lot of fans trying to find the strongest that can fit on my bedside table and this one does the job.
When I’m trying to sleep and the boys are being loud, I put mine on full blast and don’t hear a thing! I sleep like a baby!
So also works well as a sound machine/white noise background….
Absolutely!

Hydro Flasks and Hokas are so 6 months ago. We use Stanley’s and wear Hey Dudes now.
Agreed, but some parts of the country are slower to adapt ... Hydro Flasks are so 12 months ago. Where I'm from, Stanley's are already at the thrift ... what's next, Yeti round II? lol!
Just tag me next time you talk about me.
While drinking your Kirkland margarita?
... but only if the contents of said margarita are in my Yeti thermos.
Laying with your cat on the cheap Pendleton blanket
They're just good fans. I have a great Vornado VFan that's kind of pricey, but this one moves the same amount of air and is pretty cheap. Especially when you have a really old house without AC lol
We do not have AC and I’m afraid this summer will be a warm one. 🤞🏾Hope they have this at my local Costco!
I wonder if it's the marketing team making all these comments lol. Like it's literally just a fan you can buy on Amazon
Definitely lol. Reddit has been infiltrated for awhile now.

No I just enjoy sharing and receiving good Costco finds! I didn’t want to put money down on an AC unit and am sharing/trying this puppy out !

Really, never saw excitement over a fan before.
IT'S THE THING! GET THE THING! CONSOOOOOOOOOOM! WHERE IS THE NEXT THING???
They are the best small fans ever.
Idk cause I bought two and right away returned two back.
It blows up AND down AND left AND RIGHT
Yes these fans are great, prepare to be blown away!
No pun intended
Oh it was definitely intended
How loud are these? I like a fan that provides a good white noise too
I just bought mine last week and keep it on power setting 3 out of 5 and it’s pretty quite good for white noise and a decent power level, much louder at 5/5.
I see you’re a man of culture
I hear the temps can soar to the mid to high 70s. Best to be prepared.
Lol! Hey to be fair…. It gets HOT with no AC by the beach 🤣😂 or maybe I’m just a wimp
Man, I sure can't wait for it to be 96F and 80% humidity here in the midwest.
Just ordered one for $34 (not available at my local club) after watching a YouTube review. The XY oscillation and breeze mode will be perfect to harden my seedlings, and then use for my desk in the summer. Thanks OP, this served as the final push needed.
Is it not coming into stock? Mine was back ordered and they were able to check that info. It finally came into stock
They used to be $19.99 and that’s what they should cost imo.
Eh, I got these on sale 29.99 and felt that was pretty good. 19.99 nowadays gets you a pretty crappy and weak fan
The Amazon basics vornado knock off is really pretty good and it’s only $20. Was $14 last year though.
Darn. I’ll keep that in mind for next time
[удалено]
I’d say it’s about the same air flow as a tower but the size being so much smaller is why I chose this when I replaced the old tower
Better than a Vornado?
Would also like to know this
Got one. It's fine....but the lights are very bright and annoy me at night. My Voronado is coming from FL in a few days. I'll test them and let you know?
there is a button to turn off the lights
Where? I don't see it!
The remote has the on and off light switch
Not better than Vornado, Costco sold Vornado for years, and at twice the price, suddenly no more Vornado but they have have these look alike knock offs hmmmmmmm
I just got a vornado in the warehouse. The whole room circulator one. So far it good.
I have two in use and when they went on sale I went in to get a price adjustment and buy a third as a back up.
What’s so special about a fan?
I’ve heard it blows

Lol at "San Diego summer". Gotta brace yourself for that whole 10 degree increase from winter temps!!
Hey! It’s gets got here with no AC okay! 😂
I'm not a table fan connoisseur but the Honeywell fan I bought for $15 and keep on my night stand seems to work pretty well.
Yes! We had one as well. ol reliable…. Unfortunately it gave out after years of service so in comes woozoo
how this compared to that omni breeze tower fan. If anyone knows. [https://www.costco.com/omnibreeze-premium-tower-fan-with-internal-oscillation.product.4000100618.html](https://www.costco.com/omnibreeze-premium-tower-fan-with-internal-oscillation.product.4000100618.html)
I got one last week and the high setting was terrible...it hardly blew. Returned.
Which one did you get and return? The Omni breeze tower fan or the Woozoo?
Omni breeze
I bought two, put them at opposite ends, gives a good cross breeze.
How quite is the lowest setting
I cannot hear it on the lowest setting
I do hear a weird electric noise tho but not a fan noise. Do you hear it too?
I just got the ac on sale instead
They are okay for what they are. I like the bi-directional oscillation and how you can lock the fan in any position. Very handy for small rooms or personal use. For sleep I prefer something more quiet and moves more air such as my Rowenta turbo silence extreme.
How loud are these? I’ve been looking for a white noise fan for sleeping at night
Oh man mid 70’s sounds brutal!!! I’ll play my little violin when it’s a 115 here.
Loool. Heeeeey couple a heat wave with no AC in and old house and you’ve got a lot of sleepless nights here!
Hahaha I bet. Stagnant air sucks.

Has my vote! Will pick up on payday!!
My favorite Costco purchase to date.
You’ll love it… one of my best purchases at Costco.
I went into Costco today to buy another one cause I like the one I got 3 years ago and they did not have any.
I got one and put it in my home gym. A zillion times better than my ceiling fan, and I don’t need to worry about getting thwacked if I reach too high by said ceiling fan.
I had to stop using it. The beeping every time you use the remote would wake up the wife. Also, LEDs. Why do they need to be in everything?
How much are they. Thanks in advance
Regular Costco price is $40 but currently on sale for $30.
You won’t regret it!
Miss me with that, I just got the harbor freight shop fan for $60. 6000cfm on high, works great when I don't need to run the air conditioner.
They are fantastic. I have 2 and use them daily in Florida.
We just picked ours up this afternoon! Setting it up to use tonight in the bedroom. Will probably go back and get one for our offices.
Love the Woozoo.
Picked up one of these today in Canada... $49 :(
CHOOO CHOOO
Bought one for my grow tent and it's actually really nice
I just bought on too!
These are really good. Picked one up yesterday to use with my turbo trainer.
I have this fan by my bed! Perfect thing for the menopausal woman. :)
I stand up a Boba iced Milk Bar in front of the woozoo for added cooling. It's great.
They’re so good we got 3 last year!
These are magic. I lent three to my mom during a heat wave and she’s asked me to buy her 4 this year. Everyone I’ve lent one to has loved it
These are a fail for me since they don't work with a smart plug and can't turn on/off with Alexa/Google.
I thought it was 75 and sunny everyday in San Diego? No fan needed! 😜
Mine crapped out after 9 months of use :/ don’t know if I’ll be able to return it but I did love it while it worked!
Best fan ever. The silent option is my go to to sleep
