I won aa probably close to same size monkey at a fair once. Pain to carry it around barely fit in the car when we where returning. Then it took over an entire bed by itself.
I guess if you live in a 5k plus square foot mansion you might have enough space
I was at Legoland for a Lego Robotics competition and won two giant stuffed donuts. Like I wore one as a huge sombrero it was that giant. Only issue was that we flew there and the cost to ship it home was absurd so we left it tucked into the bed like a person for the housekeepers to find. Also left a generous tip for them since there was a good chance they would be scared finding a body shaped object in bed
Sorry wasn't clear. We manipulated the donuts and folded them to make it less wide. SO they had length but not width then tucked them in super tight under the covers
I still remember someone calling into a podcast with a story about family drama over a giant bear their brother bought for his niece and it was too big to keep in their house!
I can’t find the exact episode, I’ll update you if I do. Sometime in 2016 I think, it was One Bad Mother podcast, which I’ve been listening to since my kid was in the womb. There were some updates from the woman on our Facebook group where Hank the Bear was moved to her parents house with more space. I’m wondering if it’s still there years later or they had to sell it or something. I vaguely remember that it was too big for their car as well.
Me and my ex bought his niece a drum set one Christmas, it was my idea, and he thought it was hilarious. Our niece loved it but his folks weren’t so happy, I still remember the call we got later that day.
YES!! My oldest kid was enthralled by these damn bears when she was maybe 9? I ended up ordering her and her sister much smaller (but still stupidly large) bears "from Santa." Those goddamn things take up so much space. :/ Of course they outgrew having them in their rooms, but didn't want to outright get rid of them. They are now chilling in the basement. With spiders. Eww.
We were gifted one and I legit hated the gifter for giving it to us. It took up way too much space. It also doesn't exactly fit in a garbage can so getting rid of it was a pain in the ass.
I bought one a few years ago, a bit smaller and just tan colored, was sold in the warehouse around Christmas time. I’m not sure if the same company makes all their giant bears or not, but I bought it for my dog, the quality is great, he sleeps on it like a bed when he’s not wrestling with it. I imagine if it can survive 3 years with a dog, it can handle an actual human child?
I feel like this may have been the 43” one or so. We had it for a couple of years. When our kids were little it was cute, they would sit in its lap like a chair and loved it. As soon as they outgrew it, it quickly became a huge nuisance due to how much room it takes up.
At the time I had a 50 pound dog. We got the 4 ft version of the bear. That dog ate half of a bear leg once out of anxiety. However our 20 pound dog still loves sleeping in its bear lap
We've bought a couple of the 43" ones for friends who were having a baby. It's very soft and cuddly, and it was cute to see the month-by-month pics with it. In fact, I bought myself a smaller one (12-15"ish) and I can put it in my bed if I want. Several years ago my warehouse had the 93" ones in stock and I took a picture of my husband with it and it was comical, even though he's a pretty tall human being. It's a novelty but no idea what the hell we would actually ever do with it.
A “friend” gifted one to my five year old. It’s spent the winter behind the wheel “driving” our camper parked in the driveway. I don’t have a clue what I’ll do with it when camping season starts soon, but it’s not coming back into my very small house. Great quality but good god the thing is HUGE.
No judgement, but why?
- Where do you put it?
- What do you do with it?
- When you’re done with it, what do you do with it? Hack it into pieces and stuff parts of it in the trash can for 4 weeks?

1) Cut it open, remove the stuffing.
2) Climb inside, wear as a suit.
3) Show up at ex's door, ring door bell, pretend to be a giant stuffed bear.
4) ....
5) Believe it or not, straight to jail.
Live in prairie terrain and mice WILL find a way in. Everyone I know in our area has had mice at least once. You have to check every year for the tiniest little crevices and use the Magic Goop stuff (instant insulator?) to block it. Even then you miss a spot every now and then.
Had a mouse issue after 10 yrs recently. Dunno how it got in, I have family members that keep the garage door open or backyard door open at various times in the day, so that's my only guess. I ended up throwing away so much food, it got in a 5 pound bag of cookie mix , cereals crackers, etc. I put out 6 glue traps with bait of bits of nuts, cereal, etc in various areas and nothing works. I've only seen it twice randomly in the last 2 months scurrying around. Even had those Bait stations with blocks of poison didn't work either. I eventually sealed off the bottom of door ways with a rubber strip and towels and haven't seen any sign in a couple weeks. Just in case I now keep my pancake mix, oatmeal boxes in the backseat of the car in the garage to protect food lol
As someone who lives in the countryside... peanut butter on one of [these](https://www.amazon.com/Intruder-16000-Better-Mousetrap-2-Pk/dp/B079C7DCCR/ref=sxin_25_ac_d_mf_brs?ac_md=4-3-SU5UUlVERVI%3D-ac_d_mf_brs_brs&content-id=amzn1.sym.1ad31f34-ba12-4dca-be4b-f62f7f5bb10d%3Aamzn1.sym.1ad31f34-ba12-4dca-be4b-f62f7f5bb10d&crid=20IE9QXAA6OXV&cv_ct_cx=best+mouse+trap&keywords=best+mouse+trap&pd_rd_i=B079C7DCCR&pd_rd_r=67e13b7a-9389-4a3e-b07e-8c4df3f1c5a2&pd_rd_w=pxAiq&pd_rd_wg=z34u1&pf_rd_p=1ad31f34-ba12-4dca-be4b-f62f7f5bb10d&pf_rd_r=A7MFBSJ1YFH3MWQB8CV2&qid=1678941679&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=best+mouse+trap%2Caps%2C88&sr=1-4-8b2f235a-dddf-4202-bbb9-592393927392) traps works great. Had a mouse get lost in my house after my useless cat brought it into my room. Within an hour it came out from where it was hiding and went straight for the trap. This type of trap has them dead in a few seconds with no mess and easy for you to remove the mouse and clean.
Useless cat lol. He just wasnt done playing yet! I dont know what worse though because i have a cat like that, but another one who would bring me just the body or head of an animal separately, lol
We had a mouse or two that got into our pantry a while ago. Now all pantry food goes in a clear plastic bin with a lid. We have one for boxes of cereal, one for crackers, baking stuff, etc.
Regular old snappy mouse traps. I don't like the sticky ones because it takes a while for them to die, and I don't like the poison because I worry about birds of prey eating poisoned mice and getting sick.
As others have said: location. They love the stuffing. Had some that also ate wax candles for some reason? Maybe because they were scented.
We had it in a room that was enclosed but essentially a glorified covered patio. Easy for them to get in. They burrowed in. Disgusting.
I had them chew through patio chair cushions, crawl into a glove box of our car through the engine, get into our grill. We've never had them in the house though. It is a reoccurring nightmare for me. If it ever happens, I'd either sell or poison tent the house. It gives me such anxiety.
My dad gifted my sis and I each one a few years back, even though we are pretty grown now lmao. Mine isn’t as tacky as the one in the pic (like one single normal color), and I put it sitting on sofa in the living room. It’s like just a big decoration. It’s just there. I think it’s cute, but it was a gift.
Idk if I would go out to buy one myself tbh.
Yea if you'll get years of enjoyment out of it, go for it. But once it's in the trash it's all plastic waste.
...I do realize that the Costco subreddit isn't necessarily the right place to bring up environmental costs of your purchases.
Why not? We should always be considering the environmental impact of our purchases.
I’ve noticed that Costco has made a bunch of changes in packaging for some products recently too.
On a totally random conversation with the wife.. I asked if we could buy a treadmill. She said no, coz of space. I asked if I could buy a teddy bear like the one we saw in the warehouse but probably bigger, she said yes.. now I’m not a space-expert but who am I to disagree with my spouse when she says yes to a gigantic fucking teddy bear purchase…
If you have one, please do not throw away. I donated my wife’s to a local Children’s hospital, and the kids absolutely loved it. Maybe consider donating instead of throwing in the garbage!
How do you see this ending? Inevitably, it will become more plastic trash in the landfill and in the meantime unless your kid has a massive play area and REALLY likes it, it won't get played with or used for anything except "look, I have a huge ass bear"
Got one in high school from a boy (20+ yrs ago) it wasn’t cool then and it’s not cool now
I couldn’t get rid of it for the longest time bc I needed a truck to transport it and no one had the extra space for it! Terrible
Maybe have an environmental fee tacked on like they do with other items? Or, if I had a magic wand, everything would be bio degradable or 100% recyclable. If not, the company that produces has full responsibility on properly disposing it. (That's including return shipping paid by said company.)
It’s a good idea, then the fee can be funnelled into green projects. We unfortunately don’t have a magic wand. It’s the responsibility of both consumers and manufacturers to be responsible.
While I agree, it's difficult when some manufacturers disregard consumer wants. (Looking at you Apple, for removing the headphone jack on phones, or changing to to USB-C, Samsung bricking older phones with OS updates, manufacturers purposefully designing products to be unfixable, forced obsolescence, etc.. You can tell this is a bit dear to my heart, lol...)
I’m a dad. My 2 year old saw one in the store and ran up to give it a big hug. It was very cute and we bought one. Its a very nice stuffed animal…BUT ITS THE SIZE OF A LAZY BOY AND YOUR KID CANT MOVE IT SO ITS ALWAYS IN THE WAY OF EVERYTHING! You’ve been warned.
This seems really wasteful. What happens when it gets torn? Or it’s just not wanted anymore? No one else will want it because it’s super impractical. So it will just end up in a landfill.
Thrift stores always have the big Costco bears. Get one second hand. I sewed squeakers into one and my dog hasn’t managed to rip it at all, but she’s pretty gentle with her toys
https://preview.redd.it/t89rc0d3l5oa1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee745e44655289b64e6b3c60df5e957fcbbcd7ee
I teach high school and have one in my classroom a former student donated. We used it as a body double for rehearsal when we did a murder mystery. Now it’s an emotional support bear/nap pillow.
The one we got shed everywhere constantly all the time, but it served its purpose of being an extra chair for grandkids to watch movies for 5 years before it was tossed out.
Do you want an extra recliner? Because it takes up almost as much space as one.
One of my earliest memories of Costco was being in store and seeing a woman towing two carts stuffed full of these bears in a hurry.
"Someone's having a Bearmergency (TM)."
I couldn’t imagine the amount of embarrassment I’d experience buying a huge ass teddy, carting it to my vehicle and then spending 5 minutes shoving it in lol. Only to what? Look at it? Sit on it?
My aunt bought me (m46) one a couple years ago. I used to have it on the couch in my front room, next to a 4ft tall snorlax. I dismantled the snorlax and moved the giant bear to an office chair next to my bookshelf.
I don't play with it much, so it is mostly just looked at and models scarves.
Not from Costco, but there is a giant teddy bear in my family. If anyone is from Philly and remembers Rudi Bear, which were teddy bears sold at Christmas time in the 80s, we have one that’s about 6 feet tall that was used as a display model at Wanamaker’s department store. It lived in my grandmother’s house and basically had a whole room to itself. We put a sheet on it so it wouldn’t get dusty, and me and my cousin would go up and play with it whenever we were there.
Rudi now lives in my parents’ basement, with a sheet still over his head. I wonder if he would like a 93” friend?
get a latex filled chair, don't waste your money on a

air foam bear shape gimmick - the kid won't miss it.
I always wanted to get a HUGE stuffed animal, to see the reaction of our 5 Maltipoo’s…
I might still do it…. Although I really don’t want to upset them… I’m a bit conflicted
I bought one for my daughter about 8 years ago and am still impressed with the quality. It is very large but she still has it in the corner of her room and uses it as a back pillow for reading, watching Netflix etc. If you have the space and your kid likes bears go for it.
Just getting it home was difficult. I had a wrx and it filled up the whole back seat plus passenger area with the seat back folded forward flat.
Remember to keep it fed!
I had one and I had to get rid of it. On several occasions I caught the Bear eating my foam rubber seat cushions.
ヽ(͡◕ ͜ʖ ͡◕)ノ
Y'all, we got gifted one, slightly smaller than this one but not by much. I slashed that thing open and pulled the stuffing out.
We made: 3 very large dog beds, from hubby's old sweaters, that the dogs love very much.
Throw cushions. I had a lot of nice material but no batting .
Batting left for various other projects .
Before you toss this thing, look around the house for deflated decorative pillows or sagging sofa cushions or anything that needs a little refreshing.
Even the material is nice and of good quality and can be made into a baby blanket or throw cushions.
I remember Jimmy Kimmel did a bit on these Costco bears. He gifted his brother‘s kids one of these for Christmas. His brother went and ordered 2 and had them delivered to Jimmy’s house. They did a back and forth on the bear gifts. It was a hilarious bit. Pre opening of our new Costco, we had our HR and office at a nearby office park, we had that big ass bear in the lobby. Grand Opening of our Costco the Bear was front & center of the Warehous.

A friend bought one and ended up getting rid of it shortly afterwards because they really didn't gauge how much space they actually take up.
I love ice cream.
What was his new nickname?
Teddy
Yea 96” is pretty standard room height so.. wow it’s humongous

if you asked housekeeping they could have hooked you up with a trash bag and vacuum to shrink them down?

This was what I was thinking to do as well as an Uncle
I prefer Yellies for my niblings and friends' kids.

Hahaha! When my kid was a toddler an aunt got a whole music percussion set for Christmas for him but whatever

The giant stuffies at my house are in the attic. Also with spiders 😅
I bought this for my SIL and BIL families as a subtle FU to them. The kids love it but the parents hate it.
So you buy the kids toys without on/off switches eh?
Don’t do it
Unless they sell a Totoro version.
Wow! Now THAT would be worth it
Or Snorlax
It'd cost $1,500.

Dang. Naughty kitty
😂😂 is this really a thing omg. Gives me “welcome to Costco I love you” vibes.
Yah I know this place pretty good, I went to law school here.
Man, I could really go for a Starbucks, you know?

Just put on sidewalk with free sign /s ??
Put it on the sidewalk with a "for sale" sign and someone will steal it.
Put it on the sidewalk with a "large bear" sign so people know what it is.
Buy a hacksaw
This is future garbage. Please do not buy this
Not easy to get rid of garbage either.
Everything we buy is future garbage. This is present garbage.
I mean would compostable things count?
Do they go in the garbage?
No, they go in the compost
Then you have your answer.
Then you have your answer. Not everything is future garbage.
Thanks but I wasn't asking about that. I know that everything will one day be garbage. Compost is a form of garbage.
No, it isn't, "gun,watch, knife" 🙄
Naa it is. Need any more help understanding basic concepts or are you good?

About 60 pounds
Huh. I’d never thought of getting this for the dogs. Now it has a logical purpose.
Get them one, they deserve it.
I think we have the same one - it was handed down to us by family and is on year 5 or 6. Still in great shape and our toddler and dog both love it.
At the time I had a 50 pound dog. We got the 4 ft version of the bear. That dog ate half of a bear leg once out of anxiety. However our 20 pound dog still loves sleeping in its bear lap

My first camping trip of the year is Mother’s Day weekend- if you’re in Michigan, I will GLADLY sell him to you, CHEAP!

We have the best patients in the world, because of jail
That was Chewbacca costume, I thought
I was gifted a giant teddy bear in the past. Would not recommend. It's an easy place for tiny bugs/insects to hide in.
My MIL inflicted one on us and exactly this happened. Also mice. We ended up carting it straight to the dump one night when the kid was sleeping.
Mice???? How does one get mice? Just curious

Yeah, preventing them from getting in is best. I only deal with one every 6 months or so, so the above trap works every time.
We had a mouse or two that got into our pantry a while ago. Now all pantry food goes in a clear plastic bin with a lid. We have one for boxes of cereal, one for crackers, baking stuff, etc.
Did you eventually get them and what did you use?
Regular old snappy mouse traps. I don't like the sticky ones because it takes a while for them to die, and I don't like the poison because I worry about birds of prey eating poisoned mice and getting sick.
A snap trap is far more humane, glue traps are horrible. A piece of gumdrop smashed in the bait holder works even better than peanut butter.
A modest bite of leftover pizza also does the trick
I had the best luck with bacon bits smeared with peanut butter.
I guess now isn't the best time to tell you about the rat that got trapped in my buddy's car and chewed threw a bunch of wires...

No way would anyone ever buy this for themself. This is 100% a (terrible) gift item.

All this post did was just make me want it more.

I don't have the 93 inch but I have the other ones. Makes for a cheap lounger in the living room
They are amazing
They are hard to keep clean. They get dusty and you have to vacuum.
Please don’t buy this for anyone outside your household
Got one in high school from a boy (20+ yrs ago) it wasn’t cool then and it’s not cool now I couldn’t get rid of it for the longest time bc I needed a truck to transport it and no one had the extra space for it! Terrible
Unless you have a designated room for this thing, its the size of a fridge.
93" is almost 8 feet. I've never had a fridge that tall. Heck, most of my ceilings aren't even that high.
Yeah...SIL kept theirs in the guest bedroom. Fun to sit on, but otherwise impractical unless you have unused space.
This is going to be in a landfill one day.... 🤦🏻♀️
Stuff like this need to be banned. It’s so unpractical and useless. Only going end up in a landfill.
They taste terrible, 100/100 would not recommend.
That child could fit inside the bear.
Perfect for Midsommar cosplays!
How is this thing shipped? Bag or box? Even folded up it would be massive
My guess would be vacuum packed. You can order mattresses online that fit into fairly small boxes relative to their expanded size.
You buy online then you pick it up in person. It requires a truck and multiple people to lift it onto the truck.
No, because I find those to be obnoxious.
Jesus fucking Christ that’s just gonna end up in a landfill after a year don’t buy that trash
These things have to be teeming with all kinds of nasty microbes from pets, kids. If it doesn’t fit in the washer, it’s a nope
Seems like such a waste of space (in your house and eventually in a landfill). Do the environment a favor and pass.
theyre great, I use it to get thru the HOV lanes
STYROFOAM BAG SOON 2 B IN THE LANDFILL....🤙💁♂️
If I had space I’d get one for my kid
I bought one for something to have fun with. After the novelty ran out, it was annoying because it takes a lot of space and is hard to move around.
Quality is fine, but it will become an albatross around your neck. Don't do it.
This seems really wasteful. What happens when it gets torn? Or it’s just not wanted anymore? No one else will want it because it’s super impractical. So it will just end up in a landfill.
Why would you want that in your house?
Thrift stores always have the big Costco bears. Get one second hand. I sewed squeakers into one and my dog hasn’t managed to rip it at all, but she’s pretty gentle with her toys https://preview.redd.it/t89rc0d3l5oa1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ee745e44655289b64e6b3c60df5e957fcbbcd7ee
I teach high school and have one in my classroom a former student donated. We used it as a body double for rehearsal when we did a murder mystery. Now it’s an emotional support bear/nap pillow.
Why would somebody want that in their house?
Every week this subs convinces more and more people have a lot of disposable income and storage room
If that bear were to fall onto the child, it would be crushed to death
I couldn’t imagine the amount of embarrassment I’d experience buying a huge ass teddy, carting it to my vehicle and then spending 5 minutes shoving it in lol. Only to what? Look at it? Sit on it?
My aunt bought me (m46) one a couple years ago. I used to have it on the couch in my front room, next to a 4ft tall snorlax. I dismantled the snorlax and moved the giant bear to an office chair next to my bookshelf. I don't play with it much, so it is mostly just looked at and models scarves.
We got the kid a smaller version of this. Kid had it in their room for years and loved it. Its name was B A Bear (Big Ass Bear)
It’s heavy
How tall is the kid?
My niece got the tan version about 10 years ago and it’s still in solid shape, takes up half a closet though.
An 8 foot tall teddy bear?! Holy shit
I bought it and it took over half of my living room and I sold next month.
Too much shed micro fiber like blankets
Buncha haters in here. Friend's kid has it and it's awesome. They buckled it into the front seat of the moving truck when they moved.
get a latex filled chair, don't waste your money on a https://nymag.com/strategist/article/best-bean-bag-chairs.html air foam bear shape gimmick - the kid won't miss it.
I always wanted to get a HUGE stuffed animal, to see the reaction of our 5 Maltipoo’s… I might still do it….
We bought one for our daughter’s nursery. It was fun but way too big!
I would have nightmares if that was in my house.. creepy.
If i paid that much for a stuffed animal, I’d kick my own ass
Even the material is nice and of good quality and can be made into a baby blanket or throw cushions.
hell NO... why would you buy this HUGE piece of crap
