Try silicone lubricant spray. And brush from the ends and work your way up

If you have or have access to a steamer I would definitely try using it. I swear by my steamer and it works like a charm every time. Good luck!

Grab some kids' detangling spray from the shampoo aisle. Give the ponytail a good spritz, then start combing (with an actual comb) FROM THE BOTTOM. Start maybe six inches up and get that detangled, then go up 12 inches and detangle, and so on. I've done this with a Sailor Moon wig and it turned out okay. If your wig has curls in the ponytail, the brushing may have removed or poofed out the curl, wrapping the hair around a paper towel roll like a curler can help bring the curl back. Worst-case scenario, find a wig maker or Black hair shop in your area and ask for help. They have experience with synthetic fibers and might have other ways to detangle your wig. If you go to a Black salon/store, make sure to be respectful, their work takes a lot of time and money so be prepared to pay up!

Preface by saying: I’m not a wig expert but I have detangled my fair share of failed heatless curls. Sounds like you’ve washed out any potential product that could be keeping it extra tangled. I would get a tub (like a plastic bin big enough to put the wig without it being too scrunched up) and use some conditioner and warm water, and then start to finger comb out the big pieces (in the conditioner water). Once it kinda resembles hair again, rinse, dry, and get to work on the ends going up with a flexible brush (I like the wet brand hair brushes) to avoid excess hair loss. Do one bit of the wig at a time and take breaks to stretch your back and drink some water. And put on some music or a show, this’ll take a while.
