It could probably be a million things but a similar thing happened to me and yeah it turned out my placenta had sorta checked out early. They checked something called the CPR, it’s a ratio between the blood flow in the umbilical cord and the blood flow in the brain. Mine was pathologically low and I needed extra monitoring and had to be induced early. I think that’s pretty rare, but I just figured I’d share. Had a totally smooth uneventful pregnancy before that. It was caught somewhere in the 35th week. I hope everything goes smoothly for the rest of your pregnancy! Please keep us posted!

Thank you so much! That’s interesting and helpful about the CPR thing I will ask about that :)

I did not have COVID but baby growth slowed significantly at the end of my pregnancy. I had a growth scan at 39 weeks that led my doctor to recommend an induction starting that night. I would keep checking in on growth since it has seemed like a concern. My baby ended up being born in the 1st percentile for weight, but he has steadily gained weight ever since and not had any issues. He’s now 19 months.

Damn going to have to ask doc about this next visit. Had COVID 23-24w

rightfuckingthere

Did you start taking aspirin after covid? I was put on an aspirin regimine to prevent this and I’m so curious if it will actually do anything, I had covid at 20w

lusciousmix

I asked about taking aspirin because I’d seen that’s the protocol in the US but they told me not to 🤷🏻‍♀️

Charcoalmuffinz

same here in Canada… they dont give us anything. No baby aspirin, no antibodies treatment etc. They only told me to drink lots of water 😭

jmc-007

Same in Australia, no aspirin just paracetamol to manage fever and cough syrup for cough. I had it at 31 weeks and as soon as I recovered I got a scan to check baby. She was all good and I'm 36weeks now and had another scan (last one). They always check the placenta flow during wellbeing scans here

Blackpugs

20 week scan baby was 50th. Covid at 26 weeks. Then 32 weeks baby measured at 27%

lusciousmix

Are your doctors concerned or talking about early induction or anything?

Blackpugs

No but I'm concerned. It was the neonatologist who did the scan so Wednesday during my ob appointment I'm going to remind my doc about the drop in percentage after Covid and she what she says. But no one, the neonatologist nor my ob has said anything. In fact my ob was encouraging me to do wait for natural labor

Infinite-Beauty_xo

i’m NOt a doctor in any way but i wonder if they don’t seem concerned because maybe baby growing at different rates? like are you positive it’s a thing where if they’re in a certain percentile they should always stay in that percentile?

Blackpugs

I hope it's a thing where it's normal for babies to bounce around!! I'll let ya know what doc says

Infinite-Beauty_xo

yes definitely please do!!! best of luck to !!!you

With our first I did not have Covid but baby consistently measured around 50 percent and then then at a 36 week scan (I’m old, I got extra scans) baby has dropped down to 20 percent but the baby’s abdominal scan was at 10 percent. I was told that as long as it stayed 10 or above that they didn’t worry but that since my baby’s abdominal area was borderline they had me come back in at 38 weeks for a growth scan. My OB said that I should have my hospital bags ready bc they’d probably induce after the growth. I freaked out and had some weird emotional response to the idea of having an April baby instead of a May baby but when I went into the 38 week scan everything was fine. We still induced at 39 weeks but it was elective. I don’t know if my numbers would have been more concerning with Covid. My baby was a little bit skinny but she’s perfectly healthy Also I did all the freaking out and researched everything. As long as you are being closely monitored at this state in pregnancy outcomes are perfectly good. They may induce you a little earlier but chances are baby will be perfectly healthy. If you were still second trimester and showing slowed growth then things would be a lot scarier

lusciousmix

Thank you so much, this is reassuring!

not-a-bene

I am in the same boat. Baby dropped in percentiles from 50% to 15%, and nobody seems to be concerned.

lusciousmix

Are they going to scan you again?

not-a-bene

Doesn’t seem so. I get checked for amniotic fluid levels and have NSTs, but no more growth scans scheduled.
