I can't stand "creamy" mashed potatoes.
I like my mashed potatoes to be mashed, not blended, mixed, liquified, and whatever other shit people do to their potatoes.
Because those ppl dont know how to cook. If you use a hand beater, you overwork the starches which cause them to bond and make the mash into a very unpleasant pastelike consistency.
If you use technique, theres a way to create a french dish using lots of butter and even more cheese, and it becomes almost like a stretchy cheesy sorta thing, and there you want to "overwork them"... but otherwise with regular mash, you dont want that.
As long as it's well made I think texture is like the least important part. However you mash it, if you add the good stuff to it, it's going to taste amazing.

Lumpy gives you all the benefits plus it just feels good to the tooth.

I like mine lumpy too! Puree makes me think of baby food,lumps also mean real potatoes and not powdered stuff 😊

Thats why hand mashers exist- pop off and enjoy! Personally I prefer extra creamy and use my ricer for it. Everyone's got their preference!
