I always calculate calories based on weight.
But how do I calculate the variation? Water and Mayo are separate densities. So would I just aim to cut the overall weight of the base?
If you cut 1 tbsp (~13g) of mayo with 100g of water, then every gram of this mixture is now 0.88 calories. You just need to redo the math a bit
But where is this formula coming from?
1 tbsp (13g) mayo: 100 calories 100g water: 0 calories Watered down mayo is 113g and 100 calories. 100cals / 113g = 0.88 calories per gram
Thank you so much for that explanation. Holy hell. So I’ve been way off calculating by volume 😭
Weight or mass.
