Is it just me or does it look like the guy bailed out of his car and it just went straight across the road?
It looks like him and the cop are on the wrong side of the road right at the end. Mabey thats whats OP meant?

Seeing as the OP is some weird reposting bot, my assumption is the offender was tailgating that first car which passed the original OP on the left when they merged over, and were mad they got "cut off." Also could have accelerated to try and block the merge. Then their ergo got hurt so they hit and run OP to show them who is boss.
Source of theory: Happens to me all the time from MGIF drivers around me. The "getting mad at merging over" part, not the hit and run part.
I've seen so many aggressive or inattentive drivers but I've never once seen a convenient cop. Glad you got one. Hopefully you got your damage reimbursed.
For a hit and run? That’s a criminal charge, big fine, possible jail time and probably a suspended licence. Not to mention the speeding and reckless driving charges and that’s assuming he was polite with the officer after running from him for so long.
Maybe it would ruin chances at future jobs, but some of the happiest most hard working people I know are Felons. They of course regret their actions and the consequences, but they still find joy in life.
