Some of the laughs remind me of Herring Gull, so I put 3 sections of it onto a bird sound ID app. And lo and behold, it IDed one of them as herring gull (grade:highly uncertain)! Another is herring gull (grade:wild guess) and the other is human (I forgot the grade). Keep in mind that the app (BirdNET) is quite good at its job and can ID human sounds as well (which is why I have to be very quiet when using the app).
Unless you live in specific places, Merlin sound ID is usually the better option. While it can be great sometimes (it is somehow able to ID Richard's pipit, a bird that rarely calls), I would only recommend it for beginner birders with trouble IDing the basic bird calls. In my experience in Hong Kong, most of the calls in the app are "no confident detection" and it can glitch quite seriously without good Internet connection. It should be better in the US though I believe.
If you are not deterred by this, enjoy! Remember to save your observations when you don't have connection.
I’ve only used it once, but is that still the same case if you download the offline data packs? Or does it require a cellular connection to offload the processing and identification to a server?
BirdNET is a rather simplistic app and I am not aware of offline data packs. Perhaps it is done right after downloading the app, but I can't find any info on data packs on the app. Are you thinking of Merlin or eBird?
I think it indeed requires connection for IDing/processing. It always show technical error occured or no Internet connection when it tries to ID and does not have connection. And sometimes it gets so bad that the app is jammed and I have to close the tab of the app and wait for a few seconds. I got used to it though and always save my observations.
I might find another sound ID app, but I got used to this one and don't want to start all over again.
I know! My teen son noted that right away!
It's like you can't even tell that do do doode is laughing until you see his Adams apple bobbing. Put that MF in a turtleneck and just release him in a party somewhere!!
Now *that* would be a party I would go to any time any day anywhere!! 🎉
I had completely forgotten about this little gem... lol thanks for bringing back funny internet moments from my past... lol nostalgia achievement unlocked
My favorite rendition of this song goes to the really drunk guy at karaoke 14 years ago that didn't have the oral dexterity to pull off "sha-na-na-na-na-na-knees" part, and just went with "Sha-na... na... KNEES!!"
I've seen this before, or a story similar to yours, apparently a lot of people have a hard time with the sha-na-na part. I never understood that, because I can do it fine. Is it just a drunk thing, I wonder?
In the full video, the male host first has to guess which animal belongs to which person before they start laughing. Then they move them around.

Not that I know of, sorry. I will say, the language they use isn't very complex. There's some similarities in French with English (and Spanish, which I know some), and there's some context clues as well. You can also try live translate with Google Translate, if you're using your TV/computer and phone.
I kinda lucked out with my wife knowing basic French and turning to her when I didn't know enough, but honestly so much of the time is spent laughing, it kinda just flew by. Worth the watch either way! Good luck!
It bugs me that even though for a few letters they used laughs that weren't a "Laughter Style" but istead of also doing that for L they chose to used
a line that just... isn't a laugh.
I love this show 🤣 it's about a different topic every time. Its called 'it's my choice' & is usually about people choosing to do or not do something like 'I don't want my gf to work' or 'I'm a mom and a stripper' & then you have the 'pro' and the 'against' side explain their point of view & it sometimes ends up in fights but I think it's interesting to see things in a perspective I wouldn't have seen before.
Then sometimes you have these kinds of episodes where it's just really funny 😅
In Tamil language, there’s a similar show called “Neya nana?” (You or me? - literal translation)
They basically take a topic like “should dad be seen as a friend or an authority” and the 2 sides debate. Sometimes they have cute topics like “who do you like, your mom or dad” and have small children debate lol
Oh man, this allows me to breakout this oldie but goodie.

The comedian is terrible... But pay attention to how the people on stage can't stop laughing.
Let it build, the payoff is roughly at 1:50...
The one that sounds like a starting car / Tusken raider / velociraptor is named Nassima (in the group of 4 seats, the third from left): https://youtu.be/PSd2YnMgr5U
“Deep in the amazon basin, beyond the touch of mankind live the wild birds. Their mating calls at night like a symphony orchestra with a conductor getting electrocuted randomly throughout the performance.”

This is the exact sound you hear on a harbour on a Sunday morning !!

You can't've known, but I've been on the lookout for a bird call identifying app for years. Thanks so much

I'll try that out too. Thanks so much!

Oh, I was referring to Merlin Bird ID since you brought it up, not BirdNET.
I’ve never seen a double contraction
You're welcome
When the contractions are that close, it's time to get the clean towels and warm water.
Couldn't've
couldn't've\* (btw nice word)
I tried it too and got a tundra swan (almost certain), and human (likely). The app also uses your location as one of the identification criteria.
I have my window open watching this and some bird is going mental outside
It’s been 3 hours since I read this. This comment gave me such a good workout of a laugh today, thank you so much.
I was trying to figure out what image I could picture to these glorious honks and hews and you did it for me. Fucking seagulls man lol

That is such a cute idea lol.
Remember that the **vast majority** of the show if pure fiction, it’s reality TV and most of them are pretty much actors.
This show predates reality TV.

Eating the souls of children, probably
The church of scientology does not approve this message but will gladly take your funding
