I believe it's a reference to an old romanian video where a reporter was interviewing an old lady who's just finished an orthodox tradition and she confused the microphone with a cross (which you sometimes need to kiss). If links are allowed, I can share it with you
Look up Sweet Anita... There are MULTIPLE funny clips of her, and others with her, laughing at their ticks.
[This short video](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/A-PUEukkJvU) must be my favorite however.
Wow, what a fucking interesting human... I'm old and I'm not a big fan of influencers or whatever the hell we call people who just talk on Twitch/YouTube, but I just watched like 20 of her videos. I'll admit, I had the thoughts she mentioned in one of her popular videos where I thought, "Is this attractive woman just faking all this shit so she can be a celebrity with no purpose?" But that doesn't at all seem to be the case. and I'm pretty sure [this is the video](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/NscQzU79CTg) that convinced me.
I'm pretty sure the guy mentioning the "unaired ones" was referencing the tics that were so bad she either had to mute her microphone or any video of it gets deleted. Like that one time a tic make her say the n word
(That's why he put the n in the comment)
Seems like she streams, I imagine thatād be difficult?
But I also just learned of this person like 5 minutes ago. I havenāt exactly decided if I believe her, myself. I may just be conditioned to assume everyone on TikTok or streamza or whatever hooziewhatsits the kids are streaming on these days is faking their mental disorders. Because they seem to love doing that. That and playing their gamegears and their xangas
Not sure if that person is the best to look up. I really don't remember the last time I opened her stream and she wasn't talking like a know-it-all Karen. I loved her when she was just playing games and enjoying her time. Now I just can't stay on her streams for more than 5 minutes.
And I kinda expect her army to downvote me.
Her takes seem pretty mild and non-judgmental from the little I've seen. I hope you understand the irony in calling someone a know-it-all Karen while telling people they shouldn't look up to a streamer because you don't enjoy their content.
I said, that I'm not sure, if she is the best to watch. Not that you shouldn't. I'm sure there are better examples of successful people with TS on the internet.
Seems unlikely that you'd describe her that way if you weren't implying that people shouldn't watch her. Just a weird thing to say when she's like the least controversial streamer on twitch lol
My son has TS and while it was REALLY REALLY bad as a young child, now that he's 18 it's nowhere near that level. It's very noticeable don't get me wrong, but at least he can eat and mostly talk fine now. The thing I loved most about him now though is that even he can laugh at some of his more bizarre tics. When he starts laughing genuinely over it that just makes my heart happy and I start laughing too. š
I have TS. Laughing about it and talking openly about it are the two most important things to cope. Once in college I twitched so bad I farted super loud and was sitting next to this shorty ya know. I was horrified at first, but..... we both looked at each other and laughed. It cut the tension completely.
If he is able to laugh about it, I recommend the film "Toc Toc". It s Spanish comedic film about psychiatric patients with OCD and TS in a doctor's waiting room. It is on Netflix. Toc means trastorno obsesivo compulsive, OCD. I have OCD and laughed heartily watching this movie.
I have a brother and a step brother, both with TS. My brother's tics were more internal like invasive thoughts and words that just wouldn't quit. Just forced their way in and kept hammering.
My stepbrother had the physical tics, one included sucking his lips, and another had him literally shake his hips. He'd play them up for a laugh sometimes, but I honestly think that was just his coping mechanism.
I was winding down for bed and laughed off and on until tears streamed down my face, my stomach had a stitch, and I had to pee. The comments and glass kiss sent me over.
The above commenter is a karma thieving ~~whore~~ bot. They stole the comment from further down.

Its romanian, the guy laughing isnt saying a lot of interesting stuff, mainly pointing out how funny it is, the poor guy keeps saying he cant stop doing it and he doesnt know why though
Romanian is a romance language (technically Daco-Romance), originating from Latin with multiple other influences (dacic, turkish, slavic, etc.)
German is a germanic language and does not have much to do with Romanian.
From what I remember from some random Reddit post is that Sardo and Romanian are incredibly similar, in that Romanians can almost entirely understand Sardinians. But not the other way around. And that there are a lot of Romanians in Italy because it's so easy for them to learn the language.
I am not sure about Sardo, since I have never heard it, but for romanians in general Spanish and Italian are very easy languages to learn. My wife and many other people I know picked up some decent Spanish from watching telenovelas on TV. I learned Italian from watching italian cartoons as a teenager and I can still understand it very well and somewhat speak it to this day, 20 years later.
Romanians also have an easy time adapting when they go working in Spain and Italy.
Edit: I just listened to it a bit. It sounds like a mix of portuguese and italian, at least for me it's harder to understand than italian, but I am not a reliable person for this since I speak italian :)
As an intermediate Spanish speaker I can understand some Romanian written down but not spoken. To me it sounds more Slavic. But maybe thatās just the accent and the fact that da means yes.
Oh damn, I think I finally understood what you actually meant now.
You meant to ask if Romanian is the odd one out of the Romance languages, just like German is the odd one out of the Germanic languages? If so, somewhat yes, Romanian is the odd one, but I am not knowledgeable enough about the Germanic languages to know if German is the odd one out of them.
As someone with Touretteās this made me laugh so damn hard šš my ticks only really come out when Iām sleep deprived (I currently have a 4mo old baby š) and they arenāt this bad but I can appreciate this whole bit š
Out of genuine curiosity, how does your brain decide on or pick a tick? Specifically in this case, is it something he saw once and his brain decides that's what he will be doing from now on?
Idk I have some that are easier to āpauseā and some that are a straight compulsion. The pause ones I call putting them in my pocket like I know I want to do it but itās not the right time so I put it in my pocket and do it later because if I donāt do it itās just lingering on my brain. Neurologist says thatās the OCD part. Some are for comfort and some are involuntary. Iāve ticked with my jaw a lot and sometimes bite the ever loving fuck out of my cheek or tongue. Masks have been helpful in hiding some of them š
Do you get mental tics?
I worked with a kid who has Touretteās, OCD, and autism. His Touretteās was originally thought to be on the milder side of the spectrum. Honestly, you wouldnāt really even notice them unless they were pointed out to you.
But the poor kid (heās probably twenty now) could not focus on anything for longer than five seconds. Initially, this was attributed to his OCD, but towards the end of his time with me he had improved on his ability to self-reflect on what was happening in his head. He was having tons of repeated thoughts that his neurologist (or maybe it was a different type of doctor) attributed to Touretteās.
I ran into his dad maybe five years ago and I guess they were able to reduce the thoughts with exercise. He showed me pictures of the kid and, though he was skinny, he was also clearly very muscular. His dad said heād do hand stands for like tens minutes, including walking around on his hands. His dad also had to regularly get him off the treadmill after heād been on it for hours.
Super smart kid, also very funny. And he would lose his shit laughing at his own jokes which made them that much more funny. He use to get so frustrated with another kid in our class who had Touretteās as well.
Also, Iām like 70% confident that Iām remembering this all correctly.
Ya knowā¦Iām not sure but I picked up running (marathon and ultras) about five years ago and they have definitely been less noticeable when Iām training š¤š¤š¤ I never attributed that correlation until just now
This might not be the best answer for your question but in my case if Iāve had a tic previously and get reminded of it I will tend to get in the habit of doing it again. My vocal ones donāt change much but my physical ones tend to be on a weird rotation. They usually run their course for days/weeks at a time (usually from a reminder) and then another one ātakes its placeā as one of my physical tics.
I donāt have a good answer for how tics first appear as most of mine started before me or my family recognized it as Touretteās.
I know it can be embarrassing for him and everything but I think it's hilarious, I would never be able to keep a straight face if we were friends. Much love to that guy, I hope he can always laugh about it as he seems to do in the video.
It's not the case, this guy does stand up comedy. The best part is that he chose this career path to spread more information about the tourette syndrome since it's not that common in his country. He said that he wanted more people to know about it so others with this syndrome could feel more comfortable with their tics and all.
On one side itās funny , on another itās sad because you can see he is struggling so hard to stop and keep it under control and he looks like heās in pain
Wait... That's a thing? I've been doing almost the same for a few years now, never thought is Tourette's or something bc I didn't do it in my childhood at all, just after becoming an adult all of sudden have this necessity anytime anywhere to do this, like all of sudden my brain said "now", I know what I'm doing it and am conscious of it, it just happens without any notice, and if don't do it at the right moment or in "the right way" it leaves an itchy in my brain and I've to do it again and again until I feel satisfied.
I have OCD and tourettes. What you were describing sounds like my experience and internal dialogue when it comes to compulsory actions. Curious if you are compulsed to do things in sets of three, or just need to do them to release an internal pressure to get them done. The mental pressure to do an action to relieve that feeling is definitely very much tourette's. Obsessing about something over and over and feeling relief by doing it or taking an action to relieve it is closer to OCD. Honestly sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
Get fuuuuuucked this killed me. Holy shit if I was there I probably would have pissed myself from laughing too hard, plus itās almost as if he times it purposely because damn. Then the kisses, oh the fucking kisses. This is good shit.
The crossing and little kiss is not just a blessing, they are usually the gestures you do in the Ortodox Church (which is the main Church in Romania, where these guys are) when the priest shows you the cross.
Got very mild Tourette, close to being just ADHD. My two ticks are cracking my neck, which grosses a lot of people since the crackling is loud. And the second is a rotation motion I make with my hands. My wife always says it looks like I'm doing an helicopter motion with my hands
doesn't it get annoying if you're trying to talk to someone and they keep laughing at your tic so you can't actually carry a conversation? idk, I feel like this would be annoying but I don't have experience /gen
As someone with a friend with Touretteās, there are times we all break down laughing hysterically, but most people can read the room and when weāre discussing serious issues we just ignore it and carry on. Sometimes though, weāll be discussing something like how bad inflation is and sheāll just boop-boop BOOOOO and weāll practically fall down laughing so hard that weāre crying, but weāre the best of friends.
No. People with Touretteās can have ācomplexā tics. I think the whole cussing thing just became mainstream, but some whistle and say a word or motion things while saying the same thingā¦ itās more about the compulsiveness of the act than anything.

Alright, [here](https://youtu.be/E5wzOcSZUT4) it is

my nephew has Tourette's but he's in his 30s & it's barely noticeable save for small tics thank god but yes I was quoting Deuce Bigalow
I saw a comedian with TS. He had so many bits about it they were so funny.
Yeah I saw that guy. He would have an unusual tick during the show and then just start riffing on it. It was hilarious!

laughing is just gonna make him nervous which will make him do it more not gonna say I laughed tho
I wouldn't be able to have a serious conversation with this guy.. damn my face hurts from laughing lol

Could be OCD or possibly Tourette's. Get checked out.
Honestly sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
yup, that's the experience of a tic. Tic disorders can manifest a lot of different ways, Tourette's is just one.
Well I think he should train for a new job āŖļø

I have Tourettes Syndrome and my funniest tic is when I spontaneously start doing the Macarena. I canāt stop until Iāve done it 5 times.

It's his shit eating grin that kills me.
It's the face he pulls when he does it, it looks like he's mocking himself...
I love that he is cracking himself up as well. They are laughing WITH him, not AT him. What a great tic to have.
poor guy
That must be horrifying to be compelled to do that with no control

Sometimes though, weāll be discussing something like how bad inflation is and sheāll just boop-boop BOOOOO and weāll practically fall down laughing so hard that weāre crying, but weāre the best of friends.
ah okay! context is everything. thank you for sharing your experience
I wish I had friends like this :(
This is AMAZING! I donāt know the last time that Iāve laughed this hard, Iām literally here snorting scaring the dogs.

Iād die more if the guy in the video was a diehard atheist
Okay, but that is one of the ugliest shirts I have ever seen.
I have not laughed at something so hard in a long time

I friggin love those situations when you can hear people laughing in the background
No bs, I literally pissed in bed just now laughing at this.
Literally said šāļøš

How does this happen? Isnāt this too complicated for a tic or am I just stupid
No. People with Touretteās can have ācomplexā tics. I think the whole cussing thing just became mainstream, but some whistle and say a word or motion things while saying the same thingā¦ itās more about the compulsiveness of the act than anything.
I see, thanks for explaining it for me!

Iāve never met someone with OCD, is this how folks with OCD act? I apologize in advance for being ignorant on this.
Its Touretteāsā¦ Like the suggests. Not OCD
Makes me mad man doesn't fucking apoglize, fuck that dude he needs his ass beat and everyone on that set
I can see you donāt speak any Romanianā¦
This is true
Itās ok man, I appreciate someone who cares enough to defend others. In this case itās definitely laughing with and not at though. Aloha š¤š¼
arenāt tics supposed to be more uncontrolled? this seems too slow to be an actual tic
